Jare A. Ferry, Sr.

PERRYSBURG: Jare A. Ferry, Sr., age 58, of Hooker Hill Road, Perrysburg, died unexpectedly at (11:05 A.M.) Monday, January 19, 2004 at his residence.
Mr. Ferry, Sr. was born May 12, 1945 in Silver Creek, the son of Julius Ferry of Perrysburg and the late Cora (Kniese) Ferry who died May 24, 1987.
Mr. Ferry was a graduate of Gowanda High School Class of 1963. He owned & operated the former Jar-Bo Dairy Farm in Perrysburg and then moved to Lebanon, PA and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Brubacher Excavating, Inc. of Lebanon, PA. He recently moved back to Perrysburg upon his retirement. He was a Perrysburg Town Councilman for 8 years and an exempt member of the Perrysburg Volunteer Fire Department where he had served as president for 8 years.
Surviving besides his father is his wife Gail (Gearhart) Ferry of Catawissa, PA, 3 daughters John (Dr. Amy) Ferry of Bethlehem, PA, Mrs. Mark (Anita) Mosher of Leon, Mrs. Robert (Ann) Godwin of Orchard Park, 1 son Jare A. Ferry, Jr. of Gowanda and 1 brother J. Gregory Ferry of State College, PA. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville, with the Rev. David A. Kelley pastor of the Gowanda Free Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Cottage Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The family suggests memorials in his memory be made to the Perrysburg Fire Department, Perrysburg NY 14129

Dorothy P. Logsdon

WESTFIELD: Dorothy P. Logsdon, age 74, a resident of the Waters of Westfield, formerly of Hyndman, PA, died at (3:46 P.M.) Friday, March 26, 2004 at her residence, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Logsdon was born June 28, 1929 in Masontown,  Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah (Bates) Davis.
At one time she was a Head Start Cook for Fredonia. Mrs. Logsdon enjoyed chrocheting, knitting, & country music.
Survivors include 2 daughters Jacqueline Logsdon and Susan Logsdon both of Ohio, 5 sons Donald Logsdon of Cherry Creek, John Logsdon of Brocton, Robert Logsdon of Johnstown, PA, Thomas Logsdon of Hyndman, PA, Roger Logsdon of Forestville, 1 sister Mrs. Frank (Helen) Jusko of Fredonia, 2 brothers Ralph "Eugene" Davis of Crucible, PA, and Jim Davis of Florida. Also surviving are several grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Donald C. Logsdon, who died Sept. 17, 1980 and by an infant son David Logsdon
Graveside services will be held Monday morning, at 11o’clock in Webster Street Cemetery, Fredonia, with the Rev. Bruce M. Ellis pastor of the Forestville Wesleyan Church, officiating. Friends may call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street Forestville this evening from 7-9 p.m.

Adrian Phillips

JAMESTOWN: Adrian Phillips, age 40, of Foote Avenue, Jamestown, died unexpectedly, at (7:27 a.m.) Friday, May 7, 2004 in WCA Hospital, Jamestown.
Mr. Phillips was born May 28, 1963 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Ralph and April (Philbrick) Phillips.
Survivors include 2 sisters Mitty Cornelius of Sinclairville, Elida Phillips of Jamestown, and 1 brother Ralph Phillips of Dannemora, NY. Also surviving are several aunts & uncles and several nieces & nephews.
There will be no visitation observed. Graveside services will be held Tuesday morning, at 10 o’clock in the Forestville Cemetery, Prospect Road, Forestville, with the Rev. Donald L. Carlson officiating. Arrangements are by the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.

James W. Cruver

FORESTVILLE: James W. Cruver, age 64, of King Road, Forestville, died unexpectedly at (5:33 P.M.) Sunday, August 1, 2004 in Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk,
Mr. Cruver was born April 30, 1940 in Buffalo, the son of the late Jasper "Jack" Cruver and Dorothy (Tiffany) Cruver Hanson of Fredonia.
Mr. Cruver was a graduate of Orchard Park Central School Class of 1958. He worked as a truck driver for Holmes & Murphy, Inc. in Orchard Park for 24 years, retiring in 1997 and also worked part-time for Benchley Construction of Forestville, and Winters Rigging of North Collins. Mr. Cruver was a member of Teamsters Local #449 of Buffalo. He enjoyed antique planes and cars, was an avid flyer and was recently appointed to the Chautauqua County Airport Commission.
Surviving besides his mother are his wife Joann (Ujvari) Cruver of Forestville, whom he married August 1, 1964 in Orchard Park, 2 daughters Mrs. Nigel (Cheryl) Burns of San Francisco, CA, Mrs. Benjamin (Kathy) Graves of Nashville, TN, 2 sons James (Jennifer) Cruver of Amherst, Ron (Cathy) Cruver of Cassadaga and 1 brother George (Pat) Cruver of Hudson, FL. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Besides his father he was predeceased by his step-father Lewis "Hap" Hanson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock from the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville, with the Rev. Bruce M. Ellis pastor of the Forestville Wesleyan Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, Town of Hanover. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The family suggests memorials in his memory be made to the Sheridan Fire Department, Center Road, Sheridan NY 14135.

Gerald “Bud” S. McCarthy

FORESTVILLE: Gerald "Bud" S. McCarthy, age 83, of Chestnut Street, Forestville, formerly of Buffalo, died Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, after a valiant battle with a lengthy illness. He was born in Buffalo on February 23, 1925, the son of the late Thomas W. and Margaret (Murphy) McCarthy. Mr. McCarthy was a graduate of St. Joe's Collegiate High School, Class of 1943, served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW II as a Radar Radio Operator in the Pacific Theater and he attended the former Chown Business School in Buffalo. Mr. McCarthy retired as Sales Manager for the former Markel Electric in Amherst. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima RC Church, Forestville and was a member of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid golfer, fisherman & bowler. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Alice M. (Wouk) McCarthy of Forestville, nine children, Michael J. (Lydia) McCarthy of Lockport, Nadine R. McCarthy of Forestville, Sean P. McCarthy of Buffalo, Colin J. (Francine) McCarthy of Williamsville, the late Kevin (Yvonne) McCarthy of Silver Creek, Eileen M. (Bernard) Feldmann of Silver Creek, Brian T. (Nadine) McCarthy of Buffalo, Nancy A. McCarthy of Silver Creek, Nora L. (Scott) Gilman of Forestville, 25 grandchildren a brother, Paul V. (Jean) McCarthy of Williamsville and a twin sister Geraldine (the late Edward) Lynch of Royse City,  Texas. Also surviving are members of the extended family, Charlie (Debbie) Burgio of West Seneca and many nieces & nephews. Besides his parents and a son, he was predeceased by 3 sisters and 5 brothers. Friends are welcome to call at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, from where Prayer Services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Rose of Lima RC Church, Center Street, Forestville, at 11 o'clock, with Rev. Robert G. Beiter officiating. Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery. Graveside Military Services will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Forestville Fire Dept. Emergency & Rescue Squad, Chestnut Street, Forestville, NY 14062.

Mary E. Laemmerhirt
DUNKIRK: Mary E. Laemmerhirt, age 87, a resident of the Waters of Dunkirk, formerly of Buffalo & Forestville died at (4:47 A.M.) Saturday, January 3, 2004 at her residence.
Mrs. Laemmerhirt was born January 31, 1916 in Lockport, New York the daughter of the late Roy and Ada (Prime) McCoy.
Mrs. Laemmerhirt was a special education teacher having worked for the Lo Guidice Center (BOCES) in Fredonia and retired in 1981 after 15 years of service. She was a graduate of Lockport High School class of 1933, and a graduate of Buffalo State class of 1937, receiving a B.S. in Education. She also did extra graduate work at Buffalo State and Geneseo and Fredonia State Universities. For many years she and her late husband Ernest P. Laemmerhirt, Sr., whom she married on September 22, 1938 in St. Martin's RC Church, Buffalo and who died on June 11, 2001, owned and operated a dairy and beef farm on Straight Road in Forestville. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima RC Church, Forestville and over the years she crocheted many afghans for the Lawn Fete. She also enjoyed ceramics and knitting and received many first place awards from the Chautauqua County Fair.
Survivors include 4 sons Richard E. Laemmerhirt of Dunkirk, Ernest P. Laemmerhirt, Jr. of Farnham, Donald F. Laemmerhirt of Danbury, CT., Roy J. Laemmerhirt of North East, Pa., 4 daughters Mrs. Larry (Grace E.) Comstock of Rochester, NY, Mrs. Richard (Jean I.) Chudzik of Hamburg, Mrs. Jerry (Joan A.) Gabel of Silver Creek and Mrs. Robert (Ada D.) Fisher of Perrysburg. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by 2 daughters Mary Anne Laemmerhirt and Virginia Laemmerhirt, by an infant son Joseph Laemmerhirt, by 1 brother Albert I. McCoy and by 1 sister Virginia Shaw.
Prayer services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o’clock from the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 o’clock from St. Rose of Lima RC Church, Forestville, with the Rev. Gerald P. Sheehan, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Forestville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials in her memory be made to the Forestville Fire Dept. Emergency & Rescue Squad, Chestnut Street, Forestville NY 14062

Marjorie E. Town

DUNKIRK: Marjorie E. Town, age 90, a resident of the Chautauqua County Home, Dunkirk, formerly of the Fredonia-Stockton Road, Fredonia, Ashville & Forestville died at (5:31 A.M.) Sunday, April 11, 2004 at her residence, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Town was born May 28, 1913 in South Dayton, the daughter of the late Willis and Belle (Rugg) Grey.
Mrs. Town was a member of the DAR in Jamestown, was a former member of the Ashville Crafters Home Bureau, and at one time had attended the Forestville Wesleyan Church. She was a seamstress all of her life and enjoyed making crafts.
Survivors include 1 son Harold (Marcia) Town, Jr. of Randolph and 1 daughter Mrs. John (Donna) Goldberg of Forestville. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Harold W. Town, Sr., who died August 24, 1989 and by 2 sisters Marian Grey and Eleanor Niebel.
There will be no visitation observed. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Patricia Ellis, assistant pastor of the Forestville Wesleyan Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Forestville Cemetery. The family suggests memorials in her memory be made either to the Forestville Fire Dept. Emergency & Rescue Squad, or to the Charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.

Florajane Walker

SHERIDAN: Florajane Walker, age 78, of Rt. 39, Sheridan died at (5:00 P.M.) Friday, October 8, 2004 in Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA, following a short illness.
Mrs. Walker was born February 20, 1926 in Forestville, the daughter of the late Mervil and Hazel (Newton) Young.
Mrs. Walker was a graduate of Forestville Central School Class of 1943, a graduate of Bryant & Stratton Business College in Buffalo and had attended the Forestville United Methodist Church. She was co-owner of Walker's Fruit Basket & Press House on Rt. 39 in Sheridan along with her husband, Richard W. Walker, whom she married in the First United Methodist Church, Dunkirk on October 30, 1946. Mrs. Walker was a dedicated housewife who loved baking & cooking.
Surviving besides her husband are 2 sons, Richard A. (Tammie) Walker and James E. (Susan) Walker both of Sheridan. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a brother Raymond M. "Jim" Young.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Forestville United Methodist Church, 3 Park Street, Forestville, with Pastor Rebecca Ward and Rev. Michael Lokietek, pastor of the Family Church of Chautauqua County, Fredonia, both officiating. Burial will follow in the Sheridan Center Cemetery. Friends may call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street Forestville on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The family suggests memorials in her memory be made either to the Forestville United Methodist Church, 3 Park Street, Forestville or to the Neighbor to Neighbor Food Pantry, 2773 Main Road, Sheridan NY 14135.

Theora M. Gens

IRVING: Theora M. Gens, age 66, a resident of the TLC/Health Network- Nursing Facility, Irving, formerly of Fredonia & Forestville died at (4:10 P.M.) Monday, January 13, 2003 in the TLC/Health Network-Lake Shore Hospital, Irving, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Gens was born August 7, 1936 in Sardinia, New York the daughter of the late Elmer and Winona (Witheril) DeGolier.
Mrs. Gens was a graduate of the Brocton High School and had attended the Forestville Baptist Church. At one time she worked for the former Red Wing Corp., Fredonia and enjoyed putting puzzles together.
Survivors include 7 sons, Donald Gens of Bemus Point, Alan Gens of Jamestown, Carl Gens of Buffalo, Byron Gens of Westfield, Rex Gens of Dunkirk, Kerry Gens of Ocala, Florida and Steven Gens of Westfield. Also surviving are 11 sisters, Joyce Smith of Minnesota, Glora Ulrop of New York, Joan McCargo of Pike, NY, Wanda Kelley of Albion, NY, Ardys Price of Harborcreek, Pa., Rozella Homuth of  West Virginia, Sheila  Jackson of  South Carolina, Sharon Barone of Yorkshire, NY, Charlene Plymyer of Girard, Pa., Valerie Caudle of Warsaw, NY, Janeen Hunt, 6 brothers, Dexter DeGolier of Forestville, Gordon DeGolier of Westfield, Dennis DeGolier of Fredonia, Carl DeGolier of Georgia, Keith DeGolier of Albion, NY and Reed DeGolier of Westfield. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Richard Gens who died February 15, 2001, by a son Mark Gens, by a sister Beverly Reynolds and by a brother Warren DeGolier.
There will be no visitation observed. Memorial Services will be held Thursday morning, at 11 o’clock from the Forestville Baptist Church, 2 Center Street, Forestville, with the Rev. Carl Abbott, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Cassadaga Cemetery, Cassadaga. The family suggests memorials in her memory be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.

Emma Elaine Tanner

FORESTVILLE: Emma Elaine Tanner, age 1 day of Forestville who was born June 17, 2003 in Buffalo, died unexpectedly at (1:29 A.M.) Wednesday, June 18, 2003 in Mercy Hospital, Buffalo. Infant daughter of Joseph & Tracy (Maringer) Tanner of Forestville. Granddaughter of David and Patricia Maringer of West Valley and Randall and Sandra Pickering of Gowanda, great granddaughter of Alice Maringer of Springville, Charles and Ezaura Wilkinson of Dover Plaines, NY and Richard Pickering of Wingdale, NY, niece of Dennis (Wendy) Maringer of East Concord and Jason Pickering of Gowanda.
There will be no visitation observed. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Forestville Cemetery with the Rev. Gerald P. Sheehan, pastor of the St. Rose of Lima RC Church, officiating. The family suggests memorials in her memory be made to Catholic Charities of Buffalo, 525  Washington Street, Buffalo, NY 14203. Arrangements are by the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.

Joan M. Egloff

IRVING: Joan M. Egloff, age 83, a resident of TLC/HN-Lake Shore Nursing Facility, Irving, died at (1:47 P.M.) Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at her residence.
Miss Egloff was born June 2, 1920 in Buffalo, the daughter of the late Floyd and Estelle (Haak) Egloff.
Ms. Egloff was a graduate of Hamburg High School class of 1939. She worked at Bell Aircraft during WWII, for the former Wain Photo of Buffalo and the former Holling-Press Photo of Buffalo. Ms. Egloff had worked as a librarian for the Anderson-Lee Library of Silver Creek for 24 years, which during this time she won the "Best Librarian Award" for a small library. She was also a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Silver Creek and enjoyed photography.
Survivors include a brother David Egloff of Hanford Bay and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers, Floyd Egloff, Kenneth Egloff and an infant brother Paul Egloff and also by sisters, Audrey McMahon and Esther Eble.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday morning, at 10 o’clock from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, Silver Creek, with the Rev. James Fitzgerald pastor officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation observed. The family suggests memorials in her memory be made either to St. Columban's On The Lake Retirement Home, 2546 East Lake Road, Silver Creek NY 14136 or to Lake Shore Health Care Center-TLC Health Network, 845 Routes 5 & 20, Irving, NY 14048.

June A. Rose

FORESTVILLE: June A. Rose, age 81, of Main Street, Forestville, died Sunday, November 30th, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Buffalo on August 23, 1927, the daughter of the late Fredrick T. Rose, Sr. and Dorothy (Van Dewark) Rose Vento. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for her family at the holidays and was an avid overall sports enthusiast. Survivors include two sons, Leigh James Rose of Fredonia, Timothy Keith Rose of Perrysburg, two brothers, Fredrick T. Rose, Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska, George Vento, Sr. of  South Carolina, two sisters, Gloria Vento of Fredonia and Jacqueline Frame of Illinois. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Trisha Drewniak, Tracie Drewniak, Tina Quiles, 5 great grandchildren, Michelle Quiles, Sara Quiles, James Young, III, Bradley Peterson, Joshua Butcher and several nieces & nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a daughter Sharlene E. "Bunny" Drewniak, and by 2 brothers Earl Rose and Lawrence Vento, Jr. Friends are welcome to call at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Wednesday morning from 10 - 11 o'clock from where funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock, with Rev. Bruce M. Ellis, pastor of the Forestville Wesleyan Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Villenova Cemetery, South Dayton. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Forestville Fire Dept. Emergency & Rescue Squad, Chestnut Street, Forestville, NY 14062.
