Catherine Kinane Cassidy, 72, of 28 Kellogg Road, Cortland, died Thursday at Northwoods Rehabilitation & Extended Care Facility in Cortland. Born in Syracuse, she lived in Syracuse until moving to Cortland four years ago. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School, was a homemaker and a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Her husband, Charles Sr., died in 1996; a son, Michael, died in 1998. George A. Hare, 83, of Syracuse, died Friday at James Square Health & Rehabilitation Centre. He was born in Amsterdam. He retired in 1980 as a senior court reporter for the Fourth Judicial District of the state Supreme Court. He retired in 1991 as chair and instructor of the court reporting program at Mater Dei College. In 1992, he received the New York State Court Reporters Hall of Fame Award. He was a member of the 1940 U.S. Olympic speed skating team and held the world record for the intermediate mile for more than 40 years.
