Mr. Donald E. Hatch

CLYDE- Mr. Donald E. Hatch, 79, of 1242 Hatch Rd. died
Sunday (March 16, 2003) at Newark-Wayne Community
Hospital following an extended illness.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday (March
19th) from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W.
Genesee St. Clyde. Funeral services will be held on
Thursday (March 20th) at 11AM in the Clyde United
Methodist Church. Spring burial will be at the convenience
of the family in Southwick Cemetery, Junius, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Clyde
Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 146, Clyde, NY
14433 or to the American Lung Association of the Finger
Lakes Region, 1595 Elmwood Ave. Rochester, NY 14620
would be appreciated.
Mr. Hatch was born in Buffalo, NY on October 16, 1923. He
was the son of Claude D. and Pearl Matteson Hatch. Don
was a resident of the Clyde area for over 51 years and he
owned the Aerial Agricultural Services Company in Clyde,
which offered crop-dusting services to many area farms.
Donald served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Hatch was a member of the Brown-DiSanto Post # 226
of the American Legion in Clyde, and the 99th Bomb Group
Association. He was also a member of the Sons of the
American Revolution and National Agricultural Aviation
Association. Don was also active in many other farm
organizations. He will be terribly missed by all who knew
and loved him.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Blackwell
Hatch of Clyde, his children, Douglas Hatch of Balston Spa,
NY, Donna (Daniel) Hill of Clyde, Diane (Tom) Goldin of
Ilion, NY and Denise (Danny) LaFica of Palmyra, his eleven
grandchildren, Jason and Stephanie Hatch, Jeffrey, Katie,
Kerrie, Michael and Jenna Hill, Rebecca, Elaine and
Gregory Goldin and Andrew LaFica. He was also survived
by many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bernice Bower Sharp

CLYDE- Mrs. Bernice Sharp, 86, of 68 Sodus Street, died
peacefully on Saturday (January 25, 2003) in her own
home surrounded by her loving family.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday (Jan.
27th), from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Baris Funeral Home, 87
W. Genesee St. Clyde. Funeral service will be held on
Tuesday (Jan. 28th) at 11A.M., in the Clyde United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Homan officiating.
Spring burial will be in the Rose Cemetery, Rose, NY.
Flowers will be welcome or memorial contributions to the
Genesee Region Hospice Program, 513 W. Union St.,
Newark, NY 14513 or Clyde Volunteer Ambulance Corps,
P.O. Box 145, Clyde, NY 14433 would be appreciated.
Mrs. Sharp was born on April 27, 1916 in Salem, Indiana.
She was the youngest daughter of Charles and Eupha
Mitchell Bower. Bernice met her late husband Bob Sharp
and they both moved to upstate, NY in 1935. While she
was employed for more than 30 years at the General
Electric Company, Bob farmed and was a livestock
dealer. Their devotion and success in providing for their
family, and their ever-present help to friends and
neighbors were cherished by all those whose lives they
touched.
Bernice's unconditional love will be fondly remembered
and will sustain our sense of family, even in her absence.
Surviving are two sons, Robert C. (Nan Dickinson ) Sharp
of Fairfield Glade, TN, Paul N. (Carole Riviello) Sharp of
Clyde and one daughter, Doris (Maurice E.) Dzwigal of
Destin, FL. Six grand-children, Penny Sharp, Morrie
Dzwigal, Kevin, Tim, Jeff and Paul Sharp, eleven great-
grandchildren. One brother, Charles M. Bower and
several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Robert Napier
Sharp, her grandson, Gregory Dzwigal, her sister Elsie
Bower Atkins and her brothers, Byron, Willard, Roger and
Leslie Bower.

Mrs. Mary DiVico

CLYDE- Mrs. Mary DiVico, 90, formerly of 57 Cayuga
Street, died Tuesday (June 3, 2002) at the Wayne County
Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday (June
5th) from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W.
Genesee St., Clyde. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held
on Friday (June 6th) at 10:30AM in St. John the Evangelist
R.C. Church with Rev. James Hewes officiating. Burial will
follow in St. John's Cemetery, Clyde.
Contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the
Memorial Fund of St. John the Evangelist Church, 114
Sodus St., Clyde, NY 14433.
Mrs. DiVico was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 3, 1913.
She was the daughter of Arcangelo and Frances DeFazio
Montemarano. She and her late husband, James, moved to
Clyde in 1950. She was employed for many years by the
General Electric Company in Clyde. Mary was a member of
St. John's Church for over 53 years. She will be most
remembered as a devoted wife and mother. She loved
cooking and caring for her family.
Surviving are her 3 sons, James DiVico of Rochester,
Richard (Patricia) DiVico of Croton-on-the-Hudson, and
Joseph (Jo Ann) DiVico of Baldwinsville. One brother, Louis
J. (Margaret) Montemarano of Clyde, 9 grandchildren, 5
great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her husband James, and a
grandson, James E. DiVico Jr.

Mrs. Susan L. Anstee

CLYDE- Mrs. Susan L. Anstee, 93, of 1167 Jenkins Rd.
died Wednesday (June 18, 2003) at the Wayne County
Nursing Home in Lyons.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday (June
21st) from 10-11AM at the Clyde United Methodist
Church, Sodus Street, Clyde. Funeral services will follow
at 11AM in the church with Pastors Gordon Pearsall and
Jeffrey McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Rose
Cemetery, Rose, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be
made to the Wayne County Meals-on-Wheels Program,
1519 Nye Rd, Lyons, NY 14489 or to the Wayne County
Nursing Home, 1st Floor Staff, 7376 Route 31, Lyons, NY
14489.
Mrs. Anstee was born in the Town of Galen on December
18, 1909. She was the daughter of Edwin and Hattie
Ellinwood Luffman. She has been a lifelong resident of
Clyde, and graduated from the Clyde High School in
1927. She married her late husband, Leon Anstee, on
June 28, 1930. For many years, she helped her husband
on the family farm. Susan enjoyed spending her spare
time crocheting. She was a member of the Clyde United
Methodist Church, and also a member of the United
Methodist Women Gleaners Class. Mrs. Anstee was a
member of the Galen Historical Society, and was an avid
fan of Jim Boeheim and his Syracuse University
Basketball team. She was a past member of the Clyde
Rebekah Lodge and the Clyde Grange.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen (Ed) Lootens of
Newark and Anita (Paul) Dickinson of Rochester. Three
sons, Leon Lavern (Clare) Anstee of Milroy, PA, Richard
(May) Anstee of Lombard, IL and Donald (Pam) Anstee of
Clyde. She has 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren
and 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Baris
Funeral Home, Clyde, NY.

Mrs. Catherine R. VanCleaf

CLYDE- Catherine R. VanCleaf, 74, of Duncan Street,
died Saturday (May 17, 2003) at Newark-Wayne
Community Hospital.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday (May 20th) from
6-8 PM at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W. Genesee St.
Clyde. Funeral services will follow at 8PM on Tuesday at
the funeral home with Deacon Gregory Kiley officiating.
Mrs. VanCleaf was born on October 25, 1928 in Clyde.
She was the daughter of Frank and Mary Ambrossiano
Sebastiano. She had been a life long resident of Clyde,
and was formerly employed by the General Electric Co. in
Clyde for many years. Mrs. VanCleaf was a member of
St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church and she was an avid
bingo player in the area.
Surviving are her loving companion for over 35 years,
Jose Padilla, two daughters, Katherine VanCleaf of
Palmyra, and Michelle (Bruce) Lauster of Clyde, one son
Grantleigh D. VanCleaf of Liberty, South Carolina. Her
sister, Elizabeth Brown of Seneca Falls, 8 grandchildren
and one special grandchild Michael DeVinney and 6
great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son Roland VanCleaf, her
sisters Mary and Rosie and her brother Patsy.

Mary Elizabeth (Aunt Mary) Salerno

CLYDE- Mary Elizabeth Salerno, 89, of 170 Elm Street,
died Friday (August 15, 2003) at the Living Center South
in Geneva, NY.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday (August
17th) from 4-7 PM at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W.
Genesee St., Clyde. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
held on Monday (August 18th) at 11AM in St. John the
Evangelist R.C. Church, Clyde, with Rev. James Hewes
officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Clyde.
Memorial contributions to St. John's Church Memorial
Fund, 114 Sodus St. Clyde, NY 14433 or to a charity of
your choice would be appreciated.
Mary was born on February 8, 1914 in Clyde, NY. She
was the daughter of Salvatore and Catherine Gentile
Salerno. Miss Salerno was a graduate of Albany State
College, and had resided for many years in the Albany
area. She was employed by the State of New York as a
civil service examiner. Mary was very active in St. John's
Church in Clyde and was a member of the Civil Service
Retirement Association.
She is survived by her two sisters, Irene (Orel) Briceland
of Watertown, NY, Mrs. Louise DeMaria of Geneva, two
brothers, Victor (Mary Frances) Salerno of Rochester and
Anthony (Miriam) Salerno of Albany. Her sister-in-law,
Ruth Salerno of Waterloo, many nieces, nephews,
cousins and special friends.
She was pre-deceased by her parents and her brother
Louis Salerno.
