Charles E. "Chuck" Mann, 57, of Camillus died Tuesday. Born in Utica, he moved to Camillus in 1972. He graduated from Proctor High School in Utica and Herkimer County Community College. He was a sales representative for Gypsum by McCarthy Inc. in Syracuse and had worked formerly at W.T. Grant, Two Guys and Marjax. He was a member of the American Legion in Baldwinsville and Holland Patent. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.Survivors: His wife of 33 years, the former Diane M. Godlewski; a daughter, Michele Mann of Yorktown Heights; a son, Marc of Baldwinsville; two brothers, Jack of Utica and James of Holland Patent. Services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Buranich Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Burial, Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Reba E. Mautner, 77, of 514 Broad St., Oneida, died Friday. Born and educated in Oneida, she was employed at Oneida Ltd. Richard C. Morris, 63, of East Homer Crossing, East Homer, died Tuesday. Born in Cortland, he attended Cortland schools. He was transportation supervisor for the City of Cortland school bus garage. He worked previously at Archway Cookies and owned Morris Salads. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Truxton, and a life member of Cortland Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.Survivors: His wife of 43 years, the former Sandra Camillo; four daughters, Cynthia Morris of Lansing, Karen Keefe of East Homer and Kathryn Ryan and Amy Lyman, both of Cortland; a sister, Beverly Ryan of Scott; a brother, William Morris of Dryden; four grandchildren. John J. Traino, 28, of Pleasant Avenue, North Syracuse, died Tuesday from injuries suffered in an automobile-pedestrian accident. He was born in North Syracuse. He graduated from Onondaga Community College and was a senior at State University College at Oswego. He was a real estate agent with Hoam Real Estate in North Syracuse and was an antiques and collectibles dealer for the past 10 years. He attended St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse, volunteered as a counselor for Contact and was a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.Survivors: His mother, Bernice Traino-McClelland of North Syracuse; his father and stepmother, John and Barbara Traino Jr. of Liverpool; two sisters, Catherine Mackey and Deborah Cicero, both of Baldwinsville; two brothers, Michael Podejko of Mattydale and Robert Podejko of Derby, Conn.; a stepsister, Mary Jo Rice of Virginia; a stepbrother, Michael Scanlon of Liverpool; his maternal grandmother, Rose Murman of Mattydale; his paternal stepgrandmother, Veronica Reynolds of Syracuse. She was born in Casarano Lecce, Italy, and was a homemaker.Survivors: Her husband, Antonio; two daughters, Teresa Trullo and Adamita, both of Italy; four sisters, Anna DelVecchio of Syracuse, Assunta Perrella of England, Vittoria Perrella and Maddalena Farina, both of Italy; two brothers, Antonio Natale of England and Giuseppe Natale of Italy; one grandchild. Douglas Huckabone

SPRINGFIELD CENTER — Douglas Huckabone, 59, of Doyle Road passed away Tuesday afternoon July 30, 2002, in Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, with the comfort of his loving family around him.

He was born on Dec. 14, 1942, in the town of Deerfield, son of the late Robert and Gladys Dygert Huckabone.

A lifelong area resident he was educated in Poland Central School. On July 22, 1972, be married Jean Fahey in Little Falls. They resided in Springfield Center since 1972. For the past 28 years he worked as an electrician for Titan Homes in Sangerfield.

He was a member of the Van Hornesville United Methodist Church, the Ilion Moose Club #1010, a former member of the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department.

Doug had a strong love for the outdoors and nature he enjoyed camping at Belvedere Lake in Roseboom where he made many friends. He was an active person who loved to hunt with his boys, his nephew Eddie and his friends. One of the special things Doug enjoyed was spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

For many years he raised beagles and was a member of the Fort Plain Beagle Club. He enjoyed spending time with his house dogs Zipper and Lola.

Doug truly enjoyed people and was always ready to give a helping hand to those in need. He was fan loving and particularly liked to dance and would make a good time for all. He will be missed by many especially his family.

Surviving him besides his wife of 30 years Jean, are two sons Douglas and his wife Bethany Main of Black River, Joseph and his wife Kimberly Main of Camillus; three daughters, Dawn Huckabone-Myers of Springfield Center, Michele Huckabone and her companion Fred Carbonara of Westville, Melissa Huckabone of Springfield Center; three brothers, Kenneth Huckabone and his companion Joan, Claude Huckabone and his wife Mary Etta, Nelson Huckabone; two sisters, Dorothy Lamphere and her husband Franklin, Betty Lamphere; and his mother-in-law Mildred Fahey. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Arlene Huckabone, Jane Huckabone, Marjorie Jukes; brother-in-laws, Robert Fahey and his wife Joan, Bernard Fahey and his wife Mary Jane and Donald Fahey and his wife Vanetta; aunts, uncles, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

The family especially thanks his nephew, Kevin Lamphere for all of his guidance and love, and Doctors Joyce and Patel and the dedicated nursing staff on the cardiac unit of St. Elizabeth Hospital and all the other patient family members in the waiting room that gave us the support and strength in our time of need.

The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs. The Rev. William Harkins, pastor, will officiate.

The family will be present in the Church of Christ Uniting to receive relatives and friends on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.

Dale R. Loomis

ITHACA — Dale Ralph Loomis passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at his home in Ithaca, N.Y. He was born June 7, 1941, in Sayre, Pa., to Ralph M. Loomis and Alice (Snyder) Loomis. He graduated from Sayre High School and furthered his education at Penn State, where he earned a degree in accounting. He began his career as an accountant in Towanda, Pa., and Elmira Heights, N.Y. After moving to Ithaca, in the 1960s, Dale was employed at various campus venues.

An inquisitive nature and keen intellect sparked a quest for lifelong learning. Dale enjoyed researching topics of interest in libraries and more recently on the Internet.

He is remembered for his thoughtful quotes from the Bible and from a wide variety of other sources.

Dale is survived by his mother, Alice Loomis of Oneonta, N.Y.; brother Jan Loomis, of Birmingham, Ala., and sister Ginger Swank, of Zanesville, Ohio. He also leaves behind several nieces, a nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Loomis in 1968.

A service in remembrance of Dale's life will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, at 3:30 p.m. in the school library at Upstate Homes for Children and Adults, Inc., 2705 State Highway 28, Oneonta. The Rev. William Lang of the First Baptist Church in Oneonta will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Dale to either the Skylight Club, 201 East Green St., Ithaca, NY 14850, or to Upstate Homes for Children and Adults, Inc., 2705 State Highway 28, Oneonta, NY 13820.

Irene Mills

BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Irene Mills, 92, of Burnsville, Minn., formerly of Oneonta, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2002, in Minnesota.

She was born Nov. 11, 1909, in Colliersville the daughter of Charles and Jenny (Grimes) Silliman. She married Louis S. Mills on April 3, 1931, in Oneonta. Mr. Mills predeceased her on June 11, 1964.

Irene was a member of the Elm Park United Methodist Church, Oneonta.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie Mills (David) Cahlander; her son-in-law, Eugene Mones; four grandchildren and their spouses, Diana (John) Meier, Loren Cahlander, Elizabeth (James) Kelly, Mark Mones; three great-grandchildren, Jenna Meier, Liam and Erin Kelly; her sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor (Henry) Robert; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Irene was predeceased by her a daughter, Nancy Mills Mones, her son, Lawrence Morton Mills, her sister, Dorothy Gilchrist; and her four brothers, Morton, George, Dorr and Francis Silliman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta with the Rev. Eileen Cornwell, Pastor of Elm Park United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.

There will be no calling hours.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Perry R. Hotaling

COOPERSTOWN — Perry R. Hotaling, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at The Meadows.

Perry was born Aug. 7, 1908, in Oneonta, N.Y., the son of Claude and Bertha (Herrick) Hotaling.

Mr. Hotaling was a graduate of the Cooperstown High School Class of 1926. He was also a graduate of Union College where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Perry married Doris L. Whipple, who predeceased him in 1995, June 28, 1941, in Cooperstown.

He served in the Army Infantry during World War II in Africa and Italy attaining the rank of captain during his 26 years in the Army Reserve.

Perry will be fondly remembered as the village Santa Claus for 25 years. He was also very active with the Boy Scouts for many years. He was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church of Cooperstown (more than 80 years); a member and past president of the Otsego-Deleware Chapter of the Reserve Officers Association; member (more than 70 years) and Past Master of Otsego Lodge, #138, Free and Accepted Masons; member and Past High Priest of Otsego Chapter, 26; member of Otsego Commandery, #76, Cooperstown; member of Oneonta Council Royal and Select Masons #87; a retired member of the Cooperstown Fire Department, and a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post, #579, Cooperstown.

Perry is survived by a daughter and son-in law Jana and David Axene of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; a grandson Peter Axene of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; a granddaughter and her husband Anne and John Rasmussen of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; three great-granddaughters Elizabeth, Celia and Leslie Rasmussen; a nephew Anthony Finkle of Schodack Landing, N.Y., and a niece Joyce Axtmann of Castle-on-Hudson, N.Y.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with the Rev. Douglas Deer of the First Baptist Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 19 Elm St., Cooperstown, NY 13326.

Ashley Ann Ricci

PORTLANDVILLE — Ashley Ann Ricci, 10, of Portlandville died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.

She was born Oct. 2, 1991, in Oneonta the daughter of Alexander and Kaye (Marcy) Ricci.

Ashley had resided the last year and six months at The Upstate Home for Children where she received much love and care from the staff.

She loved to listen to music, watch cartoons, go for rides and play outdoors. Most of all, Ashley enjoyed spending time with people, whether it was family or her many friends.

She is survived by her father and stepmother, Alexander Ricci and Sheila Whispell of Portlandville; her sisters, Courtney and Paulene Ricci of Unadilla; her stepbrother, Codie Lansdall of Portlandville; her stepsister and stepbrother-in-law, April Hunter and Ed Hoag of Otego; her paternal grandmother, Connie Lorenz and Gary Dominy of Florida, N.Y.; her paternal grandfather, Alexander Ricci of Midville, Ga.; her mother, Kaye Ricci of North Carolina; her maternal grandmother, Kay Marcy of Mount Upton; aunts and uncles, Cynthia Whispell, Brenda Vaughn, Harry Whispell II, and Jackie LeoGrande, all of Oneonta, Charles Ricci of New Windsor, N.Y., William Ricci of Port Jervis and Robert Ricci of Newburgh, N.Y., Patricia Mills of Sidney and Louise Marcy of Guilford; her niece, Ayana Hoag of Sidney; her stepcousins, Stephanie Vaughn, Woody Vaughn and Harry Whispell III, all of Oneonta; as well as several other cousins; and her special and loving friends and caregivers at The Upstate Home for Children, Debbie, Neil, Jon-Marie, Scott, Felix, Brandy, Amy, Betsy, Nestra, Carol, Carlene and her teacher, Sue Phillipe and the many, many other friends and caregivers.

Ashley was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Joseph Marcy, her stepgrandmother, Edith Whispell, and her stepgrandfather, Harry Whispell.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 5, at 1:30 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta with the Rev. Douglas Burleigh, chaplain at Bassett Healthcare, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.

The family will be present at the funeral home on Sunday, Aug. 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for those who wish to call.

It has been requested that, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to The Upstate Home for Children, 2705 State Highway 28, Milford, NY 13807, in loving memory of Ashley Ann Ricci.

Funeral arrangements are by Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Elsie Albright

ONEONTA — Mrs. Elsie Albright, 86, of Oneonta and formerly of Otego, passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at the Oneonta Nursing Home.

She was born Jan. 15, 1916, in New City, the daughter of Irving and Emma (Brooks) Blauvelt.

She was married to Eldorus D. Albright, Aug. 16, 1943, at Bear Mountain, Vt. Mr. Albright passed away in August of 1987.

She was a former resident of New City, and at one time lived on Wheaton Creek Road in Otego.

She was a former secretary for the Rockland County Probation Department.

Mrs. Albright is survived by a niece and a nephew.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary McKee, Blanche Buscicchi and Alice Young.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at the Westcott Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Unadilla, with the Rev. Geoff P. Bell, exchange pastor of the Otego United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Brick Church Cemetery, Spring Valley.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Monday until service time at 11 a.m.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.
