Dolph W. Bennett
CHESTERVILLE -- Dolph W. Bennett, age 94, formerly of Edison, died Tuesday, evening Oct. 7, 2003, at Morrow Manor in Chesterville.
He was born Feb. 9, 1909, in Marengo, to the late Charles F. and Verlie V. (Wintermute) Bennett.
A lifetime resident of Ohio and a 1928 graduate of Cardington High School, Dolph attended two years of trade school and worked as a machine designer at the Delco Moraine Division of General Motors for 23 years in Dayton.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Imber of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Jane Bennett of Dayton; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, Ralph Bennett of Mount Gilead, and Ivan Bennett of Cape Coral, Fla.
Dolph was preceded in death by a son, Donald Bennett, and a brother, George "Sam" Bennett.

Gabriel Eugene Sherbourne 10/04/2003
Gabriel Eugene Sherbourne was stillborn Saturday, October 4, 2003, at Marion General Hospital.
He is survived by his parents Christopher and Casey (Adams) Sherbourne of Cardington; 1 sister Laney Rae Sherbourne at home; maternal grandparents Tom and Gina Adams; paternal grandparents Leonard and Cathy Sherbourne; maternal great grandparents Donald Waddell, Sandra and Orville Oty and Mildred Adams; maternal great-great grandmother Hilda Sexton; paternal great grandparents Lewis and Rudelle Gilbert. 2 uncles Jesse Adams and Drew Sherbourne and Fiancé Kelle Gabriel and her son Matthew; 1 aunt Betsy Adams; and many great aunts, uncles and cousins.
Gabriel was preceded in death by his great grandparents Charles and Mary Jane Sherbourne and great Grandfather Walter Adams.
Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington on Tuesday October 7, 2003 from 6-8PM. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 2PM at the Glendale Union Cemetery with Brian Mounts officiating.

Lakyn Grace Danals 09/23/2003
Lakyn Grace Danals was stillborn Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at Marion General Hospital.
She is survived by her parents, Christopher and Charlotte (Dendinger) Danals of Marion, a brother, Hadyn Danals at home, maternal grandparents, Dick and Vonnie Dendinger of Marion, maternal great-grandmother, Juanita Hord of Marion, paternal grandparents, Ed and Mary Danals of Nevada, OH, paternal great-grandmothers, Eva Roberts of Upper Sandusky and Liz Hayes of Cincinnati.
A private family graveside service will be held Friday, September 26, 2003 at the Marion Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Grant of Salem United Methodist Church officiating.

Clifford “Bud” Lamson 09/14/2003
Clifford “Bud” Lamson, age 82, of Center St., Cardington, died early Sunday morning at his home surrounded by family and friends.. He was born on Feb. 28, 1921 in West Richfield, Ohio. He was the son of the late Clarence and Catherine (Tartara) Lamson. On June 24, 1944 he married the former Thelma “Eileen” George. She preceded him in death on May 2, 1989. He spent the last years of his life with his very close friend Katherine McCloskey.
Bud was a 1939 graduate of Mt. Gilead High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a gunnery instructor. He was employed at HPM for 30 years. While at HPM he served as their Export Sales Manager. After retirement Bud founded “CREW” at the Cardington Elementary School. His happiest times were spent assisting the teachers and children. He volunteered at the school for 17 years. He will greatly missed by all.
He was a 50 year member of the Cardington Masonic Lodge # 384 and Mt. Gilead Masonic Lodge #206. Bud also served at High Priest and was a 33rd Degree Mason. His other interests included the American Legion Post 97 and the Marengo Sr. Citizens group. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Cardington where he served in many capacities, such as trustee and church treasurer for many years. He was an active member of lay witness missions. He also served on several of the District committees for the church. Bud had helped found the Disciple Shop in Fulton
Survivors include his children, Margo Coy and her partner, Helen Raber of Milton, Vermont, Judy and her husband, Carl Davis of Atlanta, Georgia and James (Jim) and his wife, Linda Lamson of Lexington, Ohio. He has six grandchildren, Clifford Coy, Wendy-Ayn Stisser, Ben Davis, Kelly Mefford, Mike Lamson, and Chris Lamson. He also has nine great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother, Clyde “Buck” Lamson of Washington State; 2 sister-in-laws, Bertha Huenke of Mt. Gilead and Kate Blakely of Texas . Special friends, Rich and Becky Cullen.
In addition to his parents and wife Bud was preceded in death by 1 brother, Richard, and 2 sisters, Gertrude and Juanita.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Morrow County, the McCloskey and Disterdick families and his daughter-in-law, Linda, who cared for him these last weeks. Thanks also to all of the friends who stopped to say “hi” and kept Bud in their prayers.
Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home on Thurs. Sept. 18,2003 from 6-8PM and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. Their will be a Masonic Service immediately following the Thursday night visiting hours. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 10AM at the First United Methodist Church in Cardington. Pastor John Jackson will officiate with burial in Glendale Cemetery immediately following the service.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cardington Elementary School Library fund or Hospice of Morrow County in care of the funeral home.

Shirley E. Bachelder 09/07/2003
Shirley E. Bachelder, age 69, of Lowenstein Lane, Cardington, died early Sunday morning September 7, 2003 at Bennington Glenn Nursing Facility. Shirley was born on June 3, 1934, in Fulton, to the late James and Bertha (Rice) Pearl.
In 1952 Shirley graduated for Cardington H.S. Throughout her lifetime she was an active member of the Democratic Women’s Club. Most recently she was employed as a real Estate Agent at Bob McElroy Century 21 in Mt. Gilead.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband Kathy and John St. Pierre of Worthington; sister Betty Jane Bailey of Mt. Gilead; a brother and sister-in-law Gene and Marlene Pearl of Lexington; and 5 grandchildren, Chris and Brian Bronson, Tyler, Parker and Kevin St. Pierre; 1 niece, 2 nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Shirley was preceded in death by a daughter Linda D. Bachelder and a son Merle “Allen” Bachelder.
Friends may call on Tuesday September 9,2003 from 6 to 8PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington where the funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday morning with Dr. Dennis Schultz officiating. Burial will follow in Fulton Cemetery.
Everett R. Racer 09/06/2003
Everett R. Racer, age 73, of County Road 169, Cardington died Saturday September 6, 2003 at his home. He was born December 26, 1929 in Winfield, West Virginia to the late Jewett and Katy ( Nash ) Racer. Everett had worked as a self-employed carpenter.
On April 16, 1949 in Gallipolis, Ohio Everett married the former Virginia E. Clay and she survives. Additional survivors include sons; David and Dwight Racer both of Cardington; daughters, Debbie Levings and Toni Racer both of Cardington and Jenny Smith of Mt. Gilead ;3 sisters Evelyn Hughes of Newark, Pauline Janey of Gallipolis, and Fannie Racer of New Mexico.
In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by a son, Edward R. Racer, four brothers, and one sister.
A funeral service was held at Gompf Funeral Home on Tuesday September 9, 2003. Reverend Bradley Burrell officiated and burial was in the Glendale Cemetery.
