Survived by mother, Nancy Ruhl; father, Joe (Barbara) Ruhl; fiance, Laura Greetham; grandmother, Audra Collins; special friend, Lee Phfogner, several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, including Rob and Bobbie Ruhl and Dianne Moore. SMITH Walter Owen Smith, of Gahanna, died late Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Born Athens County, Oh., February 18, 1914. Son of the late Slyvester James and Edna Goldsberry Smith. He was also preceded in death by grandchildren Kenneth Allen Ward, Danny James Ward and James Allen Ward. He was a retired accountant. Survived by wife, Zrelder; children, Ariane Ward ( Kenneth), Mansfield, Oh., Charlene McNeill (Neil), Catawba Island, Oh., Carl Sylvester James (Donna), Fairview Park, Oh., Sandra Kay Hogue (Carl) Parma, Oh.; step-children, Tonja Henderson (Charles), Parma, Oh., Debra Walker (Wesley), Shaker Hts., Oh.; grandchildren, Cheryl Huffman, Angela Mosley, Linda Brown, Steve McNeill, Craig McNeill, Christina Hammack, Kimberly Smith, Eric Walter Owen, Andrew Owen Reppa.; step-grandchildren, Kellee, April, Autumn, Monica, Marcus and Zrelder Olivia; 21 great-grandchildren. ULREY Francis Paul Ulrey, age 91, of Centerburg, Sunday, March 4, 2001 at St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville. He was born March 24, 1909 in Morrow County, Oh. to the late Delbert and Florence (Metzger) Ulrey. Retired from St. Anthony Hospital, Columbus and farmer. Former member of East Porter Advent Church. He was on the Croton Fair Board and was a 60 year member of Porter Grange and Porter Township Trustee for over 30 years. Survived by loving wife of 63 years, Marjory (Blackledge) Ulrey; daughters, Wanda Nininger, Margaret (Roger) Stith; sons, Robert (Janice) Ulrey, Roger Ulrey and daughter-in-law, Linda Ulrey; 18 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Beard, Edith (Wesley) Carpenter; brother-in-law, Ivan (Rosena) Blackledge; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sister Mildred Blakely, son-in-law Shelby Nininger. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at JOHNSON-MELICK-MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 49 West Church St., Centerburg, with visitation 12noon until time of service. Rev. WEBB Verna Elizabeth Webb, 91, formerly of Columbus, died Sunday, March 4, 2001 at the Laurels of Defiance. Born March 24, 1909 in Lima, Oh. Preceded in death by parents Clarence E. and Nancy E. (Madory) Flinn, husband Grover T. Webb and son Neal E. Webb. Survived by daughters, Janet (John) Russell of Murrysville, Pa. and Carolyn (Philip) Flavin of Defiance, Oh.; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Retired from State of Ohio Department of Corrections and Records and was an active member of Glenwood United Methodist Church and the Deborah Circle for over 50 years. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., where service will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at 1 p.m. Rev. Roy Fisher officiating. WIDELL Larry R. Widell, age 50, Friday, March 2, 2001 in Rockford, Ill. Resident of Columbus, Oh. since 1980. Graduate of MacMurray College, BA, 1972, Northern Illinois, MS and Duke University, Ph.D., 1981. He was a man that worked with environmental concerns. Survived by son, Christopher Widell, resident of Gahanna and graduate of St. Charles Preparatory and a junior at West Point Academy; sister, Nancy Landers, Severna Park, Md.; brother, David Widell, Chicago, Ill. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 10-11 a.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. Broad St., where the funeral service will be Saturday 11 a.m. Friends who wish may contribute to the charity of their choice.

BERWANGER On February 27, 2001, a great man, affectionately known to many as "Poor Old George" and "The Mayor of Moreland Drive" left this world. George E. Berwanger of Pittsburgh, Pa. and a seasonal resident of the Florida Treasure Coast was a man beloved by all those who knew him. His passing leaves us saddened, in the knowledge of living our lives without him. George was married for 53 years to the former Lois Minnotte. He leaves behind 3 adoring sons and their wives, Joseph and Patricia of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Jay and Kelly of Philadelphia, Pa., James and Valerie of Los Angles, Calif. George also was blessed with 7 special grandchildren, Lara, Jason, Molly, Jesse, Natalie, Nicky and Kara. Also survived by brother, Robert Berwanger; sisters, Rosemary Susil, both of Columbus, Oh. and Rita Sandusky of Fort Myers, Fla. George served his country in the Navy, rising to the rank of Lieutenant J.G. He received his civil engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. In 1951, he joined the Mellon-Stuart Company of Pittsburgh and retired in 1981 as Senior Vice President of Construction. George was project manager of some of the most spectacular construction in the Pittsburgh area. Too numerous to list in their entirety, they include Children's Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Allegheny General Hospital, St. Clair Hospital, Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts, Temple Beth El, St. Louise deMarillac Church. George E. Berwanger possessed a marvelously gregarious soul. A man of incredible professional discipline combined with wonderful wit and inspiring wisdom, George touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowning him. Service consist of a Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church in Scott Township, 310 Kane Blvd., Pittsburgh, Pa., Friday, March 9, 2001 at 9 a.m. followed by burial at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to The American Heart Association and The American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been provided by LAUGHLIN FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Lebanon, Pa.

BORROW Orville "Bus" Borrow, age 68, of Columbus, March 6, 2001 at home. Orville was a talented man with many skills which included being a seamstress, hairdresser, painter of portraits and teacher of ceramics. A beloved brother and good uncle to many. Preceded in death by brother Charles and sisters Donna and Frieda. Survived by brothers, Harold (Pat) Borror and Carl (Mary Ann) Borror; sister, Mary Jane Breeze; many nieces and nephews. BOYD Harold F. Boyd, age 86, of Columbus, formerly of Marion, Oh., Saturday, March 3, 2001 at home. Retired Engineer from ConRail. Born March 1, 1915 in Sparta, Oh. Marine Corps Veteran. Preceded in death by wife Ealtha Boyd and son Jeff Boyd. Survived by wife, Margaret Boyd; daughter, Rebecca Boyd of San Francisco, Calif.; sisters, Jeanette (Ted) Ray of Marengo, Alice Layman of Mt. Dickson, Anita Brewer; 2 nephews; 3 nieces; cousins and friends. Funeral service Thursday 1 p.m., Columbus Christian Center, 2300 Cassady Ave. Rev. David Forbes, officiating. Mr. Brewer will lie in state Thursday after 9 a.m. in the chapel of DIEHL WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. CAVOTE Anthony M. "Tony" Cavote, 28, of Columbus, passed away suddenly Monday, March 5, 2001 at Grant Hospital. He was employed with Cavote's Flooring and was an avid Bowler, Fisherman and Sportsman. He is survived by son, Dylan Cavote; step-son, Mitchell Crabtree; mother, Diana (Larry) McCoy; father, Michael (Gloria Reese) Cavote; siblings, Loretta (Ron) Vanover, Michael (Vicki) Cavote, Will (Sherri) McCoy, Holly and Lori McCoy; grandmother, Mary Cleveland; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.
