DARST Thomas Allen "Tom" Darst, 87, of West Jefferson, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2001 in Arbors West Subacute Rehabilitation Center, West Jefferson. He was born February 21, 1914 in Pickaway County to the late Irenaeus and Mahala (See) Darst. He retired from Westinghouse. Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Darst of West Jefferson, whom he married in 1934 in Darbyville; five children, Norma Jean Doughtery of Groveport, Joann (Larry) Watts of Columbus, Jerry T. (Dorris) Darst of West Jefferson, Kenneth (Norma) Darst of Pickerington, and Carol Sue (Frank) Wilgus of Delaware; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Stevens of Circleville. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2001 in RADER-McDONALD FUNERAL HOME, West Jefferson, with Reverend Fred Kinne officiating. Burial will follow the service in Muhlenberg Township Cemetery, Darbyville. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Childrens Hospital or Hospice of your choice.

DAVIS Helen E. Davis, age 94, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001 in Arbors of Hilliard. Arrangements being completed by SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL.

DAVIS Martha E. Davis, age 94, Monday, March 12, 2001 in Albuquerque, N.M. Former member of All Saints and St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Columbus. Member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, N.M. Martha made quilts for Children with Disabilities and also made church altar cloths. Preceded in death by husband William, son Raleigh, daughter Irene Schneuker, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Survived by sons, William (Myra) of Columbus, John (Diane) of Cincinnati and Paul (Eva) of Pickerington; daughters, Betty (Wendell) Nye of Westerville and Martha (Barry) Georgia of Albuquerque; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. Friends received Thursday 6-8 p.m. at the MAEDER QUINT TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St., where service will be held 11 a.m. Friday. Burial Lithopolis Cemetery.

ECKERT Ella Loretta Eckert, age 101, of Groveport, formerly of Akron, Monday, March 12, 2001 at The Inn at Lakeview. Member St. John's Lutheran Church. She is survived by son, George (Irene) Eckert; daughter, Helen Eckert; grandchildren, Joyce Cafaro, Karen Spyker and Marie Blackburn; 5 great-grandchildren; close friend, Jeannett Harpley. Preceded in death by husband Frank W. Eckert. Friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Friday with funeral 10 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of THE DWAYNE R. EVANS Margaret Ann Evans, age 65, on Monday, March 12, 2001 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Survived by daughters, Carolyn (Richard) Lipker of Columbus and Linda Sandefur of Dayton; grandchildren, Derek Evans, Kristen and Blake Lipker, Joseph Sandefur; brother, Robert (Betty) Leist; sister, Charlene (Wayne) Brenner; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Evans was a retired insurance rater. Funeral service 1 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High Street (* mile South of I-270). The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Friday until time of service. Interment to follow at Flint Cemetery.

FOSTER Arthur Lee Foster, age 73, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2001 at the V.A. Hospital in Dayton, Oh. U.S. Army and Korean War Veteran. Retired from Eton Colby Company. Predeceased by parents Dundee and Florence Jordan Foster; wife Ella Mae Foster; brothers Paris, Amos and Richard Foster; sisters Beatrice Brown, Florence Woods, Armeda Edwards, Martha McClure. Survived by sons, Rev. David Cates, Clarksburg, WVa., Eric Foster, Delaware, Oh.; daughter, Rachel Washington; devoted nieces and nephew, Daria Foster, Patricia Brown and Charles Foster; devoted neighbor and friend, Flora Hemsley; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Service 12noon Friday, March 16, 2001, J.W. ROSS FUNERAL HOME, 1173 E. Hudson Street. Rev. Stanley Woods officiating. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery. GARTNER Joseph A. "Joey" Gartner, age 38, on Sunday, March 11, 2001 at his home. A member of Iron Worker Local #172, as well as an avid fisherman, hunter and NASCAR fan. Survived by wife, Maria; children, Deanna and Brant; parents, Albert and Lois Gartner; brother, Bernie (Janice) Gartner; sister, Marilyn (Rik) Asher; brothers-in-law, Chris, David and Steve Markopoulos; nieces and nephews, Emily and Rachel Gartner, Craig and Riky Asher, Ashley and Nicholas Markopoulos. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street, (* mile South of I-270), where a scripture service will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2001 at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 1582 Ferris Road. GIBSON David A. Gibson, also known as "Double Clutchin Dave", age 54, of Plain City, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born May 28, 1946 in Columbus, Oh. Dave was raised in the Grocery profession and operated Gibson's IGA in Plain City for 12 years. He hosted a 15 minute radio show on Sunday mornings on 610WTVN "NASCAR News, Notes & Gossip" for the past 6 years, and was an avid race car fan and drag raced for 20 years in the car "Trick or Treat". Preceded in death by parents William and Sylvia (Weese) Gibson, Sr. Survived by wife, Linda (Griffs) Gibson; children, David "Butch" (Lori) Gibson of Denver, N.C., Robert (Laurie) Gibson of Columbus, Tony (Mayda) Gibson of Milford Center and Brooke (Andy) Tomblin of Plain City; 9 grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Shirley) Gibson of Zanesville and William (Laura) Gibson II of Plain City; sisters, Shirley (Duke) Dozer of Mechanicsburg and Barbara (Tel) Blackburn of Columbus. A combined Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held Friday March 16, from 4-7:30 p.m. with the Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m. at the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 202 E. GILFILLEN William W. Gilfillen, age 82, of Columbus, died Monday, March 12, 2001 at his residence. Retired owner & operator of the Gilfillen Architecture Firm & World War II US Army Veteran. Preceded in death by his parents, Cleon W. & Helen (Burkhardt) Gilfillen. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Amy, his children Lorie Gilfillen of Columbus, Lisa (James) Ruddy of Westerville & Statler (Valerija) Gilfillen of Cape Canaveral, FL & four grandchildren. Member of Northwest Kiwanis, National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors, PROBUS & Boulevard Presbyterian Church. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2001 at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, Worthington Chapel, 515 High Street, Worthington with Rev. James Sledge officiating. GILLILAN Nathan L. Gillilan, age 96, of Columbus, March 13, 2001 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Attended Groveport Madison Christian Church. Member of Groveport Masonic Lodge #240 F&AM. U.S. Navy Veteran WW II. Life member of VFW Post #7941, South Bloomfield. Preceded in death by daughter Marian Louise Linley. Survived by children, Lois Jean (Dick) Ridgeway of Fredericktown, Oh., Richard (Wanda) Gillilan, Patricia Reed, Rose (Dorris) Moore and Kenneth (Judy) Gillilan, all of Groveport; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence (Daisy) Gillilan of Grove City; sister, Garnett Reinhard of Obetz; sister-in-law, Violet Gillilan of Tampa, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and friends. GRUBENHOFF Ruth J. Grubenhoff, 99, of Fountain Hills, AZ, formerly of Grove City, passed away Mon., March 12, 2001 at Shadow Mountain Health Care Center in Scottsdale, Ariz. Ruth attended the Grove City Christian Church, was past President of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War in Lima, Oh., and was retired from Gregg's Dept. Store in Lima, Oh. She was born Sept. 3, 1901 to Daniel and Emma (Jones) Diefenderfer in Vaughnsville, Oh. On Nov. 25, 1926, she married Edward Grubenhoff who is deceased. Also preceded in death by an infant son Edward Charles. Ruth is survived by her daughter, La Vonne (Glen) Schroeder of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; 4 grandsons; 3 great granddaughters and 2 great grandsons. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Fri., March 16, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City with the funeral service immediately following at 2 p.m. Graveside service 10 a.m. Sat., March 17, 2001 at Vaughnsville Cemetery, Vaughnsville, Oh. GUY Edward M. Guy, born October 21, 1921 in Millfield, Ohio, died March 12, 2001 at the residence. Retired from White Westinghouse. Member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church since 1954. Member of American Legion #532, VFW #2374 Hilliard, Veteran WW II U.S. Army. Preceded in death by parents Sophia and Andrew Guy, sister Lottie, brothers Albert and Leo. Survived by wife of 54 years, Elizabeth T. Guy; daugher, Carole (Terrence) Marsh; sons, Jerry (Becki) Guy, Jim (Jamie) Guy; grandaughters, Jennifer Guy and Kimberly Guy; great grandaughter, Kaylee; sisters, Mary Byers, Emma Farrow, Sophia Truszka; brothers, Andrew and Louis Guy; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. HAYHURST Nord "Dutch" Hayhurst, age 64, of Hobart, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2001. An area resident for the past 35 years. He was born June 5, 1936 in Columbus, Oh. to Ivan and Clara (Dunlap) Hayhurst. He was a Realtor owning and operating Remsco Realty, Inc. He was a member of Griffith Lodge #735 F&AM, Orak Shrine Temple, Auxiliary Lake County Sheriff Deputy, past president of the Lake Station Jaycees, and he was a Kentucky Colonel. He is survived by his daughter, Connie Lutz of Valparaiso, Ind.; mother, Clara Hayhurst of Newark, Oh.; 2 brothers, Beale (Nancy) Hayhurst of Worthington, Oh., Keith (Suyapa) Hayhurst of Los Angeles, Calif.; 2 grandsons, Nord and Fred Joseph both of Valparaiso, Ind.; and former wife and special friend, Cathy Hayhurst of Valparaiso, Ind. He is preceded in death by his father Ivan and brother Bobbie. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Gifts are preferred to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2001 at the REES FUNERAL HOME, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Ind. Pastor Jim Stoel officiating. Cremation will follow visitation this Saturday from 2-4 and 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

HOELSHER (Underwood) Vicky Lynn Underwood Hoelsher, age 48, of Marietta, Ga., Wednesday, February 21, 2001. Graduate of Northland High School, Class of 1971. Preceded in death by mother Phyllis Underwood. Survived by daughter, Vanessa Hoelsher; sons, Casey Steele and Richard Hoelsher, all of the home; father, Richard Underwood of Columbus, Oh.; brother, Michael Underwood of Kissimmee, Fla.
