CLIFFORD McWhorter Clifford, 95, died March 28, 2001, Grant Hospital. Arrangements being completed at JERRY SPEARS, 2693 W. Broad St.

DIETZ Merle Ed Dietz, 72, of Logan, died March 28, 2001 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital. Born April 17, 1928 in Lima, Oh., son of the late Lillian Dietz Breidenbach. He retired from the City of Columbus in 1993 after 10 years of service in Administrative Services. He was Manager of the Local TV Cable Co. in Logan from 1964 to 1979 and Manager for the TV Cable Co. in Coshocton from 1979 to 1983. WW II Army Veteran. Member of Immanuel U.M. Church in Logan, Mingo Lodge #171 F&AM, Kentucky Colonials, Hocking Hills Shrine Club, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Hocking Valley Amateur Radio Club, Lancaster and Fairfield Co. Amateur Radio Club, American Radio Relay League and the Brass Ring Golf Course. Survived by wife, Joanne Koch Dietz; daughters, Mrs. Mike (Karen) Cottrill and Mrs. Willie (Debbie) Clifton, both of Logan; 5 grandchildren, Michelle Cottrill, Brian (Shawntel) Bazell, Scott Bazell, Melissa Cottrill and Jennifer Bazell; 1 great-grandchild, Morgan Cottrill; step-brother, William Breidenbach of Richmond, Va. Preceded in death by step-father William Breidenbach. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at CARDARAS FUNERAL HOME, Logan and 1 hour prior to service 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel U.M. Church, Logan with Rev. Gary Wheeler officiating. Burial New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge. Masonic service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 295 Midland Place, Logan, Oh. 43138.

DePUY (PINONI) Josephine Pauline DePuy, of Westerville, age 85, went to be with the Lord March 28, 2001 at her residence. Josephine was one of 14 children born to Anthony Pinoni of Sicily and Helen Pinoni of Naples, Italy. Preceded in death by husband Kelden (Pete) and daughter Lillie Mae Sensabaugh. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bo and Laura DePuy; grandsons, Cody and Nick DePuy; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Tom Henderson; grandchildren, AJ Willingham, Kaili and Chad Henderson; son-in-law, Carl Sensabaugh; granddaughter, Laura Polaske; and several great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Damie Pinoni, Margie Black, Roseanne Miller; and brother, Joseph Pinoni; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to nephew and niece, Johnnie and Alberta Campbell for their love and care. Josephine was a special and beloved mother. Josephine was a loving and compassionate person who always tried to make everyone happy, and was giving of herself to others. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. DeVAULT Kenneth E. DeVault, age 73, of Sunbury, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at home. Ken was a 23 year employee of Timken Roller Bearing and a Veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Coast Guard during WW II. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Leola Mae DeVault and son Richard Lee DeVault. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy Ann DeVault (Donald) Hewett of Poca, W.Va. and Deborah Sue DeVault (Donn) Larck of Marengo; and by his grandson, Shane (Carmen) Erb of Delaware. Family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington, 614-885-4006, where funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2001. Interment at Fairview Memorial Park, Delaware.

ERVIN Joalee Annis Ervin, age 85, March 28, 2001 at Kobacker House. Longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church. Retired employee of OSU in Food Service. Preceded in death by parents Jehu and Ester Donald, brothers Jehu Jr., Howard and John Donald and sister Rose Fitchett. Survived by loving husband of 53 years, James Carl Ervin; daughter, Jo Carlene Ervin; son, Ronald J. (Vivian) Ervin; brothers-in-law, Lee and Michael (Leila) Ervin; many nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends, including special friends, Harvey and Connie West. Friends may call Sunday, April 1, 2001 at the CROSBY FUNERAL HOME, 2323 E. Fifth Ave. after 5 p.m., where family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Homegoing service Monday, April 2, 2001 at Trinity Baptist Church, 461 St. Clair Ave. and E.A. Parham St. at 2 p.m. Pastor Victor Davis officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joalee Ervin's memory can be made to Hospice of Riverside and Grant (Kobacker House).

EVERHART Violet Everhart, age 79, of Reynoldsburg, passed away unexpectedly at home Wednesday, March 28, 2001. She was an avid book reader, doll collector and she loved her cat Cheng. She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel Everhart and son James Ferris. She is survived by her son, Michael Miller; daughters, Lucy Everhart and Patricia (Robert) Graham; son, David Everhart; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Joseph, Robert, David, Tracy, Michael and James; sisters, Catherine, Thelma, Donna and Punch; and great-grandchildren. Her family will receive friends Monday from 12-1 p.m. at the COTNER FUNERAL HOME, 7369 E. Main St., Reynoldsburg, where her service will follow at 1 p.m.

FARRA Jane Craigmiles Farra, 78, a Winthrop Harbor, Ill. resident for the last 11 years, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2001. Jane was born April 6, 1922 in Portsmouth, Oh. to the late Charles Creghton Craigmiles and Mary Heisler Craigmiles. She was a gracious lady that brought excitement and pizazz to her Marriage. The mother of a son and a daughter, she reared them with love, laughter, care and understanding to be responsible adults who now contribute to our society. She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion, Ill. Jane is survived by her husband, Howard; son, Matthew; daughter, Tamma; grandchildren, Benjamin and Katherine Chabot. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the F. C. DAEHLER MORTUARY CO., Portsmouth, Oh. Interment will be near Portsmouth in the Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 30 at the funeral home.

FROHNAUER Kay L. Frohnauer, age 77, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2001. Retired employee of the State of Ohio. Member of Christ Lutheran Church. Daughter of immigrant parents Martin and Katherine Lochner who preceded her in death, also brother Michael Lochner, who was killed in WW II. Member of The Association for Office Professionals, OES - Beacon Chapter #593 and Diabetic Support Group, Charter Arc. Loving mother of daughter, Dianne (Steve) Cooper; son, Mike (Donna) Frohnauer; grandchildren, Christine, Andrew, Brooke Frohnauer and Christopher Cooper. Friends may call at the WOODYARD EAST CHAPEL, 2300 E. Livingston Ave., Friday 5-8 p.m., where the funeral service will be held Saturday 10:30 a.m. Pastor Thomas Hudson officiating. GILFILLEN Amy Knoop Gilfillen, age 81, of Columbus, died Monday, March 26, 2001 at the Columbus Alzheimer's Care Center. She was born July 11, 1919 in Piqua, Oh. to the late George H. and Minna (Schemmel) Statler. Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years William W. Gilfillen and her brother Neil Statler. Her survivors include her children, Lorie Gilfillen of Columbus, Lisa (James) Ruddy of Westerville and Statler (Valerija) Gilfillen of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; 4 grandchildren; sister, Jean Beachler of Piqua, Oh.; and several nieces. Member of Boulevard Presbyterian Church, a Co-founder of Six Pence School and an avid Genealogist. Funeral service 10 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2001 at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington, Oh. with Rev. James Sledge officiating. A Graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua, Oh. GREENE Mrs. Hazel E. Greene, age 78, departed this life on Sunday, March 25, 2001. Member of Order of Eastern Star Love Thy Neighbor Chapter #137. Preceded in death by parents Rev. David and Estella Graham and daughter Isabella Lewis. Survived by husband, Joe L. Greene; children, Gaynell Greene, Alvernell Greene and Lillian Crawley, all of Columbus, Oh.; sisters, Ella Mae Harris of Boiling Brook, Ill., Allean Gravely of Columbus, Oh. and Lillian Washington of Williamson, W.Va.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. HARRIS Kenneth E. Harris, 63, of Columbus, died suddenly on March 28, 2001. Preceded in death by father Jake Blankenship. Survived by wife, Joan; mother, Kathleen; daughter, Lisa (Michael) Distelzweig; granddaughters, Caitlin and Amy; brother, Steve Blankenship of Akron; and many other dear family and friends. HASTINGS Robert F. Hastings, 77, of Laurel Ridge, died Thursday, March 29, 2001 in The Laurels of Hendersonville, Hendersonville, N.C. Born in Manistique, Mich., he was the son of the late Edward and Clara Ranson Hastings and the widower of Susan Baxter Hastings who die din 1989. Mr. Hastings was a bomber Pilot during WW II, serving in the Army Air Corp. He was a former hockey player at Michigan Tech and a graduate of Marquette University. He worked for Merrill Lynch for 38 years in Indianapolis, Ind., retiring as Vice President in 1986 before moving to Lynn, N.C. Mr. Hastings was a past president of the Tryon County Club. Surviving include 3 sons, John D. Hastings of Hendersonville, N.C., Patrick R. Hastings of Nashville, Tenn. and Gordon G. Hastings of Columbus, Oh.; daughter, Clair Hastings Lombardo of Philadelphia, Pa.; sister, Helen Williams of Columbus, N.C.; brother, Dr. E. Val Hastings of Augusta, Ga. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Patrick, Cara, William, Susan, Allison, Conner and Jackson Hastings and Katherine Lombardo. Mr. Hastings was preceded in death by a son Robert E. Hastings who die din 1972. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2001 in the McFARLAND FUNERAL CHAPEL, Tryon, N.C.
