Preceded in death by husband Standford Frederick, sons William, James and Jerry, daughter Dolores Keenan and granddaughter Jeanne Frederick Burchwell. Survived by daughter-in-law, Emma J. Frederick of Fla.; grandchildren, Michael (Jill) Keenan, Michelle (Jack) Borowski, Patricia (Tom) Parrott, Kathleen (Bill) Uttley, Mary Ellen (Jeff) Haley, John (Cheryl) Keenan, Jacqueline (Frank) Parrotta, Linda (Dan) Cottrill, Robert (Sue Ellen) Frederick, Suzanne Snyder, David (Cheri) Frederick and Andrew Frederick, both of Fla.; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Family will receive friends Monday 7-9 p.m. at the JOHN QUINT & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue. Rosary 7:30 p.m. Monday. GABBARD Bessie F. Gabbard, of Fort Lauderdale, formerly of Cincinnati and North Lewisburg, Oh., age 95, born May 26, 1905 in Hamilton, Oh., entered eternal life on February 10, 2001. Her parents were Meredith and Loucinda Flannery Gabbard. She was pre-deceased by a twin sister Hazel. Survived by a brother and sister-in-law, M. Wendell and Alma Gabbard of Bellevue, Mich.; 2 nieces; and several cousins. Miss Gabbard was a member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, the League of American Pen Women and Phi Delta Kappa International. At the time of her death, she chaired the Board of Governors of the Phi Delta Kappa Education Foundation. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 3 p.m. at BAIRD-CASE/JORDAN-FANNIN FUNERAL HOME, 4343 N. Federal Highway, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the Bessie F. Gabbard Scholarship Fund, Phi Delta Kappa, P.O. Box 789, Bloomington, Ind. 47402. Since Miss Gabbard donated her body to the University of Miami, Department of Anatomy, there will be no visitation prior to the Memorial Service.

Gardner Leland Lee Gardner, 95, formerly of Clearwater, Fla., died on February 11, 2001 at The Sanctuary at Tuttle Crossing in Dublin, Oh. Born in Newfield, N.Y., Mr. Gardner retired in 1970 from Manila Electric Co., Manila, Philippines, where he was Executive Vice President. During WW II he was interned in a Japanese prison camp in Manila. After retirement he resided in Clearwater, Fla. before moving to Oh. in 2000. He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn (Mike) Crisci of Somerville, N.J. and Anne (Morten) Jensen of Powell, Oh.; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his wife Dorothy in 1989. Memorial service will be held at Curlew Hills in Palm Harbor, Fla. The family would like to thank the staff at The Sanctuary for their kind and compassionate care. OHIO CREMATION & MEMORIAL SOCIETY/RODMAN FUNERAL SERVICE.

GROVE (MORRIS) Saundra "Sam" L. (Morris) Grove, age 51, of Dublin, Ohio, was taken from this life prematurely on February 9, 2001. She was born February 10, 1949 in Parkersburg, WV and spent her childhood in Lancaster, Ohio, graduating near the top of her high school class in 1967. In 1970, Sam graduated from White Cross (Riverside) Nursing School and soon began her career with Riverside Methodist Hospital. Not only was she a dedicated employee of the organization, she worked constantly to improve herself, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Ohio University in 1981 with her B.S.N. Sam held numerous positions during her 28 years with OhioHealth, most recently serving as the Director of Joint Commission Survey. She was preceded in death by her father William A. Morris. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Timothy; her daughter, Erin; her son and daughter-in-law, James and Melissa; grandson, Max; aunt, Ms. Marie Morris of Parkersburg, WV; and mother-in-law, Ruth Grove, of Lancaster, OH. Her many friends and colleagues also mourn her passing. It is with love, respect, and great sadness that we submit this humble memorial to a woman whose life ended suddenly and tragically. Her family wishes that Saundra be remembered as a person of unquestionable integrity and devotion, though most of all, she should be remembered as a wife and mother who cared deeply for her family. Her personal sacrifices will never be forgotten by anyone who had the honor and privilege of her acquaintance. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, where the Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2001. A private interment will be held for the family at a later date. HESS John B. Hess, age 65, died February 10, 2001 at OSU East Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Hess and Thelma O'Rourke. He is survived by his wife, Lonnie; son, Tom of Pikeville, Ky.; daughter, Barbara of Denver, Colo.; granddaughter, Jennie of College Station, Tex.; and sister Beverly Lutz of North Port, Fla. Contributions may be made to St. Ann's Cancer Center. Memorial service to be held at a later date. Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 E. State Street.

HINES Charlotte Hines, 86, February 9, 2001, Grant Hospital. Preceded in death by husband Allan Hines and son Jessie Hines. Graveside service to be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Green Lawn Cemetery. Deacon Tom Johnston officiating. Arrangements completed by JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME.

HOLLINGER Frances L. Hollinger, age 88, passed away at St. Rita's Home for the Aged on Sunday February 11, 2001. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, Marble Cliff. Predeceased by sisters Maxine Rinehart and Z. Alice Hollinger. Survived by sister. Bernice V. Stein, Columbus, Oh.; niece, Margaret Ware, Eastlake, Oh.; nephews, John Mitchell and Dewey Mitchell, Columbus, Oh. Also survived by great-nieces and great-nephews. HORN Raymond J. Horn, Sr., 88, of Gahanna, Oh., formerly of Wheeling, died Sunday, February 11, 2001 in St. Ann's Hospital, Westerville, Oh. He was born October 16, 1912 in Wheeling, son of the late William F. and Gertrude A. Hardman Horn. He is a retired plumber from Local 83, Wheeling, a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church and past-president and member of the Elm Grove Eagles, Aerie 1891. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse Bernetta Seifert Horn, a brother William A. Horn, 2 sisters Olga Adams and Gertrude Lovejoy. Surviving are 2 sons, Frederick J. Horn, Sr. and his wife, Ruth of Wheeling, Raymond J. Horn and his wife, Judy of Gahanna; a daughter, Teresita M. Stocker of Gahanna; 8 grandchildren, Jeff Stocker, Jenny Stocker, both of Gahanna, Kelly Schmitt, Jane McGinnis and Mike Horn, all of Columbus, Michelle Ackermann of Pickerington, Oh., Ruth Griffen of Columbus, Ga. and Fred Horn, Jr. of Wheeling; 7 great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at ALTMEYER FUNERAL HOME, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove, Wheeling. Vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuseday. ICE Rosemary Ice, 86, of Columbus, Monday, February 12, 2001. Preceded in death by husband Arthur Ice. Survived by children, C. Douglas (Maria) Grant, Gary W. Grant, Roger D. Jackson Dolores H. Jackson, age 80, passed away February 12, 2001. She was a member of St. Ladislas Catholic Church, a Senior Star and an avid bingo player. Preceded in death by 6 brothers and sisters. Survived by nieces and nephews, Janice Bower, Mary (James) Sauer, Danny Koch, Ronnie Koch, Tim Keller and Kay (Bill) Shea; many great-nieces and nephews. JOHNS Dorothymae (Kiehlmeier) Johns, age 78, of Columbus, Sunday, February 11, 2001 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center Palliative Care Unit, with her family by her side. She was formerly of Erie, Pa. and Marion, Oh. and worked for GTE, Hotel Harding and Marion Erie Credit Union until her retirement. Member of St. Mary's Church of Marion. She is preceded in death by her parents Oscar H. Kiehlmeier of Erie, Pa. and Dorothy J. Kiehlmeier of Columbus. Survived by her husband, Charles; children, Dan T. (Beth) of Lima, Oh., Bela R. Bowley of N.J., Mary Charlene Johns of Columbus, Leslie (Joseph) Johns McCready of Dayton, Kevin D. Johns of Marion; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; dear cousins, Margaret Leone and Margaret Zudminski; dear friends, Phyllis Little, Mary Weschler and many others. Johnson Cheryl Louise Johnson, age 54, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2001. She was employed by Kmart on S. High St. A dedicated wife to Gerald Johnson; dedicated mother to Teea (Owen) Garrett, Melanie (Jim) Large, Jody (Danielle) Johnson, Susie (Kelly) England and Bryan Johnson (Erin); grandchildren, Leea, Lydia and Lindsey Garrett, Trista and Miranda Large, Alisa, Brittany, Ciara, Zackary and Samantha Johnson, Kilee, Braden and baby England; mother; father; sisters; brothers; and many friends. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the O.R. WOODYARD CO. CHAPEL, 1346 S. High St., where the funeral service will be Wednesday 1 p.m. Rev. William L. Snider officiating. Johnson Harry A. "Butch" Johnson, age 47, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2001 at Mt. Carmel East. He was a dedicated employee of J.C. Penney Distribution Center for nearly 25 years, as well as a well known musician, singer, songwriter and producer. Faithful member of Cross Tabernacle Church. He was preceded in death by his father Henry Johnson. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Nancy (Smith) Johnson. He will also be greatly missed by his mother, Betty Crawford and his sons, Stephen Johnson and Brian (Rachelle) Johnson; grandchildren, Destiny, Stephen DeAngelo, Jr., Stephanie DeAsia and Brianna Johnson; siblings, Michael (Ertha) Johnson, Jacquline Johnson, Da'dra (Mark) Greathouse, Steve (Tammy) Crawford and Brian Crawford; special great-niece, Michelle Foster; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents Ida and Hanson Hampshire; husband of 29 years Forrest E. Johnson; daughter Beverly Walz; three brothers and two sisters. Survived by son, David F. (Ann) Johnson of Henderson, Tex.; sister, Evelyn Corrova and sister-in-law, Lillian Hampshire, both of Columbus; son-in-law, Bill Walz of White Sulphur Springs, WV.; one grandson, two granddaughters and three great-granddaughters.
