Christina Ruth Brandum 08/30/2003

Christina Ruth Brandum, age 81, of Cardington, died Saturday morning in the Morrow County Hospital Extended Care Unit. Christina was born on July 11, 1922 in Elbert, West VA., to the Late James and Georgia (Johnston) Cavallo.

On January 26, 1960 she married Chester Brandum in Greeenville, S.C. and he preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1999.

During her lifetime Chris worked as a legal secretary, volunteered at the Morrow County Hospital Extended Care Unit, was a member of the Sacred Hearts Catholic Church and the Morrow County Twig.

Survivors include sister-in-law Helen Cavallo; Nieces and their husbands Sylvia and Dennis Huelsman, Carolyn Brausch, and Filomena and David Herron; Nephew James A. Cavallo; Cousin Roberta Brown; and special friend Barbara Cole.

In addition to her parents Christina was preceded in death by a sister Filomena Cavallo and a brother N. Louis Cavallo.

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home on Tuesday September 2,2003 from 6-8PM. Funeral Mass will be read at the Sacred Hearts Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10:00AM. Monsignor Charles Foeller will officiate and the burial in Glendale Cemetery.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Cardington Emergency Squad, Morrow County Extended Care or Morrow County Hospice in care of the Funeral Home.

Jesse Allen Eastep 08/30/2003

Jesse Allen Eastep, age 17, of Co.Rd. 150, Cardington, died early Saturday morning as a result of an automobile accident. He was born on November 6, 1985 to Craig and Diane (Kimes) Eastep of Cardington whom survive him.

Other survivors include paternal grandparents Samuel “Ben” and Ruth (Fink) Eastep of Cardington and maternal grandparents Richard and Ida Kimes of Fulton; 4 brothers Craig, Jeremy, Clint and Cody Eastep all at home.

Visitation will be held on Monday September 1,2003 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington, where the funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday morning with burial in Glendale Cemetery.

Charles W. Randall 08/22/2003

Charles W. Randall, age 80, of US RT 42, Mount Gilead, died in the Morrow County Hospital ER Monday evening, August 25, 2003. He was born August 22, 1923 in Marion County to the late Benjamin C. and Bertha G. (Strawser) Randall.

Charles had lived in Morrow County for 66 years. He graduated from Edison High School with the class of 1942. He farmed in Morrow County for nine years and owned and operated Charles Randall Trucking for 51 years, retiring in 2002. Charles was a member of the Williamsport Methodist Church and a 50 year member of the Williamsport Grange where had been the master for several years. He had been a past Youth leader for the Junior Grange which won numerous awards at the Morrow County and Ohio State Fairs. Charles hobbies were camping and his grandchildren and he was always willing to help others in time of need.

Charles was preceded in death in March 1976 by his first wife, Geraldine L. McPeek whom he had married on November 6, 1942. On June 25, 1994 he married, Adria F. Moore and she survives in Mount Gilead.

Survivors also include 2 brothers, Marvin C. and Ethel Randall of Grove City and Francis R. and Juanita Randall of Mount Gilead; a sister, Alice L. and John Geyer of Lake Wales, FL; his children, Alfred and Lisa Curry, Peggy and John Conley, Patty and Gary Carwell; grandchildren, Adria and Jeff Warwick, Estie and John Longhenry, Alfred and Mindy Curry, Ricky and Amanda Johnston, Jessica Johnston, Gina and Dustin Eldredge, Austin and Elizabeth Curry, Gary Lee and Cambray Carwell and Wayne Carpenter; and great grandchildren, Kaylee, Mason, Lilly, Faith, Mackenzie, Destiny, Abe, Andrea, Peggy and one more on the way.

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington on Thursday, August 28, 2003 from 5-8PM. The funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home Friday at 11AM with Pastor Brent Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Williamsport United Methodist Church, 6130 US RT 42, and Mount Gilead, Ohio 43338.

Donald E. Baker 08/19/2003

Donald E. Baker, age 88, passed away at 12:10AM, Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at his home. He was born on July 1, 1915, in Marion County to the late James and Verding (Glaser) Baker.

In August 1941 he married Stella Mae Schwaderer of Marion, who died in June 1977. In October 1988 he married Rae Hitchock of Columbia Station, OH who survives.

He served in the US Navy submarine service during WWII, in the Southwest Pacific and Indian Ocean. He also served in the occupation forces of Japan after WWII. He was a life member of DAV.

He served on the Cardington-Lincoln School Board for 12 years. He was a farmer all his life, and a member of the Center United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Donita ( Dan) Kaminsky of Berne, IN and Kathy (Pat) Casbarro of Hilliard; one son, Rodney (Monica) Baker of Cardington; three step-children, Nancy Beasley of Dublin, Marty Hitchock of LaFayette, IN, Lynda Fardanesh of Upper Saddle River, NJ; nine grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers; Philip of Meeker, James and Glee of Richwood and two sisters; Clara Kagy of Fostoria and Alyce Kagy of Findlay. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leslie.

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington from 5-8PM on Thursday, August 21, 2003, where the funeral service will be held at 1PM on Friday, August 22, 2003. Pastor Fred Caldwell will officiate. Burial will be in Ashley Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Center United Methodist Church, 333 West Main Street, Cardington, Ohio 43315.

Dorothy W. Ashcroft 08/08/2003

Dorothy W. Ashcroft, age 88, died early Wednesday morning, August 8, 2003, at Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. She was born May 24, 1915 to the late Thomas and Ethel Skinner.

Dorothy was a lifetime homemaker and a member of the Fredericktown Holiness Church.

On November 25, 1936, in Leesville, Ohio she married the Elwin Adam Ashcroft. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1995.

Survivors include her son, Steve Ashcroft of Collins Center, NY; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-children.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was also preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Shaw Conniff; a grandson, Michael Shaw; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Friends may call at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington on Friday, August 15 from 10AM to noon. The funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor James E. Redmond officiating. Burial will be in Fulton Cemetery.
