TOWNS Evangelist Coudia Cathleen Freeman Towns, age 76, departed this life to be with the Lord Friday, February 9, 2001 at O.S.U. Medical Center. Member of Family Missionary Baptist Church where she served as First Lady, Mother of the Church,. President of the Senior Choir and was an Honorary member of the Nurses Guild. She served as President of the Ministers' Wives Auxiliary of Mount Calvary District Association. Member of the Baptist Ministers' Wives and Widows Alliance and the Interdenominational Ministers Wives and Widows Alliance. Preceded in death by parents Frank and Betty Freeman, husband Rev. Bennie Ray Towns and son Rily Towns. She leaves to cherish her memories daughters, Elizabeth Towns, Dorothy Elmore, Arlie Noel, Ruth (Robert) Jones, Mary (Bobby) Reynolds, Ann Towns; sons, James E., Charles R., Bennie Ray (Caroline) Jr., John H., William Lewis (Eugina), Elder Frank (Robin) Towns, Minister L.B. VANCLEAVE Walter G. Vancleave, Sr., age 82, passed away suddenly on February 13, 2001 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and Korean War. Retired from USAF and Rickenbacker Federal Credit Union. He was born on September 12, 1918 in Henry, Tenn., the son of Walter Merion Vancleave and Estella Bush, both deceased. Preceded in death by brother Merion Vancleave and sisters Lillie Smith, Letha, Minnie Bunn, Sallie, and Ruby Cruse. Survived by wife of 55 years, Mattie; sons, Walter Jr. (Suzanne), Robert (Teresa); daughter, Diane (Andy) Whicker; grandchildren, Walter III (Brenda), John (Nora), Will, Chris Whicker, Olivia, Eric Whicker, Jennifer Whicker; sisters Myrtle Deeter and May Haynes. WESSEL William W. Wessel, age 75, of Arlington, TX and formerly of Columbus, Oh., died Sunday, February 11, 2001 at Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, TX. He was born August 1, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of Harry and Edith (Craig) Wessel. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WW II and later attended Purdue University. He was a retired electrical engineer-aircraft designer and worked as a consultant for several major aerospace contractors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons Steven A. Wessel and David L. Wessel, brother John Wessel and sister Edith Murphy. Bill is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 55 years, Leonora "Luring" Wessel of Arlington, TX; son, Tom Wessel and his wife, Judy Hartley Wessel of Upper Arlington, OH; daughter, Linda Rougeux of Arlington, TX; daughter-in-law, Karen Wessel of Columbia, MD; grandchildren, Stephanie McCall and her husband, Joe Sorkin of Madison, WI, Chera Millet and her husband, Brad of Austin, TX, and Christopher Rougeux and his wife, Rebecca of New Zealand; sister, Sara Wolfe of Warsaw, IN; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, where the funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2001. Rev. WORKMAN Amelia (Mitzie) Workman, age 79, passed away after a long illness on February 12, 2001 at her home. Retired from Schottenstein Department Stores after 25 years. Member of St. Ladislas Parish and Senior Stars. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to all who knew her. Preceded in death by daughter Maryann, parents Mary and Joseph Egich, 8 brothers and 6 sisters. Survived by husband of 54 years, Frank Workman; daughters, Susan (Keith) Wilson and Linda Workman; grandchildren, Buzz (Sheri) Wilson, Christy (Ed) Little, Charlie (Wendy) Wilson; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie (Daniel) Krivicich; sisters-in-law, Cleo Egich and Violet Ray; brother-in-law, Ed (Charlesanna) Workman; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Friends received Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St. Rosary 3 p.m. Thursday. YARBROUGH Jesse M. Yarbrough, 76, of Professional Drive, Chillicothe, died 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2001 in the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center following a long illness. He was born August 18, 1924 in Chester, S.C. to the late Richard and Julia Gaines Yarbrough. On February 19, 1945, he married the former Lois L. Keener, who survives. Also surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Edwin R. and Barbara Yarbrough of Ashburn, Va.; 4 grandchildren, Kyla M., Steven R., Scott E. and Brendan J. Yarbrough, all of Ashburn; sister, Julia Culbertson of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; sister-in-law, Jeanette Yarbrough of Whitmire, S.C.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Richard Yarbrough. Jesse was a graduate of Whitmire High School, S.C. and was a Staff Sergeant during WW II, serving in the European Theater where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Yarbrough received his Electrical Engineering Degree at the University of Tennessee. He was a retired Electrical Engineer for the Mead Corp. A member of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers, Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Boy Scouts of America-Chief Logan Council, and Shawnee District Chairman. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church having formerly served on its Board of Trustees. Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2001 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME, Chillicothe, Oh. with Rev. James W. Grove officiating. Calling hours will not be observed.

ANDERSON William Anderson, age 79, Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at Mt. Carmel West Rehab Center. Member of Crenshaw Christian Center. Preceded in death by parents, sister and brothers. Survived by wife, Clara Armster Anderson; step-daughters, Ruthadean (Dale) Woods, Etel LaJune (James) Moore, Kasanthia (David) Hill, Fasanthia Wilkerson, Chelesa Rogers; brother, David (Ethel) Anderson; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, including special grandsons, Anthony LaVan Rogers, Carlos Lamar Rogers and DaQuan Shopshire; nieces and nephews, including special niece, Valarie Jordan; and a host of other relatives and friends. BAKER (MASDEA) Amanda Mia Masdea Baker, age 7* months, Monday, February 12, 2001 at Children's Hospital, the beloved daughter of Jeff and Margi Baker of Gahanna. She was born 16 weeks prematurely at OSU Medical Center on June 24, 2000 and was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Westerville. Amanda Mia is a gift from God, a true miracle, and will remain an inspiration to us all. Preceded in death by her great-grandparents Joseph and Margaret Giantonio, Paul A. Baker of Lancaster, Joseph and Yolanda Masdea, and Roy and Naomi Faulkner, great-aunt and uncles Fred and Diana Calland, Jeanette A. and Bill Iannarino, Frances Giantonio, and George Watts and aunt Melanie Baker of Lancaster. Survived by her loving family great-grandmother, Helene Baker of Lancaster; grandparents, Bruno and Louise Masdea, Barbara Baker of Lancaster and Paul R. Baker of Rockbridge; great-great-aunt, Eleanor Gentile; great-great-uncle, Nick Giantonio; great-aunts and uncle, Karen Bonaventura, Ret. Lt. Col. Jesse and Isabella Beitman and Vera Watts; aunts and uncle, Rick and Landa Brunetto and Melinda Baker of Lancaster; many supportive cousins. BASCH Maryleone Freund Basch, died February 14, 2001 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. "Mel" was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. on November 29, 1910. Married for 55 years to the late Lewis R. Basch, DDS, she was the daughter of Rabbi and Mrs. Charles J. Freund. Mrs. Basch was preceded in death by her son Richard L. Basch, DDS and her sister Rosalind Helburn. She is survived by her daughter, Constance Freundlich; daughter-in-law, Sylvia King Basch; grandchildren, Corrine Basch, M.D. and Raven, Victor Basch and Sofia Gothlin, Sarah and Thomas Freundlich, M.D., Cathy and Douglas Richeson; great-grandchildren, Kaia Luna Basch, Anna Elizabeth, Grace Ellin, Joseph Thomas and Lillian Rose Freundlich, Joel Lewis and Nathan Douglas Richeson. Mrs. Basch was a graduate of The Ohio State University and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She is a founding member of Temple Beth Shalom. She was a dedicated volunteer for 30 years at the Columbus Ohio Psychiatric Hospital and founder of the Remembered Patient Program. She typed Braille Books for the blind and was honored for her service with the Mayor's Award. Memorial Service 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Temple Beth Shalom, 5089 Johnstown Rd., New Albany. BOWERS Joseph F. "Joe" Bowers, age 87, of Columbus, died Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Joe retired in 1978 from Moore Business Forms, Inc., where he was a Sales Representative for 44 years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, WW II. Survived by wife, Genevra Jane Bowers; daughters, Cynthia J. Bowers of Columbus and Jane A. Bowers of Sackets Harbor, N.Y.; step-daughters, Marsha (Richard) Young and Lisa Gannon, both of Westerville; step-grandchildren, Matthew Young, Marisa Young, Lauren Gannon, Marcey Gannon, Brett Gannon and Jillian Zahumensky; brothers, Russell (Cam) Bowers of Sebastian, Fla. and Andrew Bowers of Seattle, Wash. CHRISTENSEN Wayne L. Christensen, age 91, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2001 in Louisville, Oh. He was born in Canton, Oh., September 26, 1909 to the late James G. and Emma (Lynch) Christensen. He was retired from the Rust Engineering Co. of Birmingham, Ala., as a Corporate Safety and Health Director. Member of the Paradise United Church of Christ in Louisville, Oh., the American Society of Safety Engineers and was a certified safety professional. Preceded in death by wife Mildred A. (Bobbie) Christensen in 1988. Survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Larry Beaver, Jayne C. Hall, all of Louisville, Oh., Mary M. and A.J. Myers of Bexley; son and daughter-in-law, Richard W. and Margaret Christensen of Louisville, Oh.; 14 grandchildren including Amy (Tom) Hoying and Robert Christensen and Stacey Myers, Emily (Anthony) DeLucia, Rion and Kitsy Myers, all of Columbus; 19 great-grandchildren.
