Retired from the City of Columbus, Heating & Inspection. Survived by wife, Pauline; 3 sons, Eddie (Cheryl) of Hilliard, Oh., Michael (Edna) of Reynoldsburg, Oh. and William (Linda) of Orient, Oh.; 3 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 5 great-grandsons; brother, Ernest of Columbus, Oh. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to time of service. Pastor James A. Riggs officiating. Interment Grove City Cemetery.

DAVIS Deacon Ulysses Davis, Sr. was born in Musella, Ga. to the late Delbert and Bertha Davis. Preceded in death by parents and 4 siblings Calzoria Grant, Kessler Davis, Fannie Mae Mance and Dorothy Lee Davis. Survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Zurlee Davis; 5 loving children, Ricardo Davis, Alphonzo Sr. (Lanita), Ulysses Jr. (Stephanie), Yvonne Davis-Coleman and Gail Davis (Maurice Sandifer); 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; special daughters, Tonya Hale and Denise Wright; brothers, Fred Davis and Grady (Shirley) Davis; sisters, Alma Brown and Laverta (Harry) Copeland; brother-in-law, John H. Bush; a host of other in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends especially the Traveler's Rest Missionary Baptist Church and Union Lodge 15 AM&FM Masons, where he was a faithful member. Speical thanks to Dr. William J. Hicks. Service of memory Saturday 10 a.m., Traveler's Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 1533 Cleveland Ave. Rev. C.L. Grays officiating. DODGE June Denise Dodge, 40, of Columbus, Oh., passed away Saturday in The Ohio State University Hospital. She was born April 30, 1959 in Springfield, Oh., a daughter of Jun and Josephine (Avery) Harris. Mrs. Dodge was a member of the Amethyst Women's Program. She is survived by her loving husband, Keith Dodge; son, Kyle Harris of Columbus; step-son, Keith Dodge of Springfield; daughters, Kendra Harris and Tonea Harris, both of Columbus; brother, Richard Harris of Cincinnati; sister, Cynthia Harris of Los Angeles, Calif.; 2 grandchildren; and a number of nephews, cousins and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother. Visitation for Mrs. Dodge will be Friday from 7-9 p.m. in the ROBERT C. HENRY FUNERAL HOME, 527 South Center St., Springfield, Oh. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield.

ELLIS Marie Ellis, 90, of Laurelville, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home. She was born April 24, 1910 in Fairfield County, the daughter of the late Hannibal and Martha Fosnaugh Stine. She was a member of the Logan Elm Garden Club and the Plum Runners Homemakers Club. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jean (Robert) West of Laurelville; granddaughter, Carol (Ralph) Casto of Galloway; great-granddaughter, Jodelle (Brian) Strassel of Dallas, Ga.; step-great-grandsons, Eric (Tina) Casto of Westerville and Chris Casto of Columbus; great-great-grandsons, Anthony and Joseph Strassel, both of Dallas, Ga.; step-great-great-grandson, Max Casto of Columbus; brother-in-law, Marvin Hartline of Laurelville; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, Amanda with Rev. Ben Edwards and Dr. Carl Wiley officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

ELLIS Nathaniel "Coffee Man" Ellis, Sr., age 71, Tuesday, February 13, 2001, Grant Medical Center. WW II Army Veteran. Member Teamsters Local #84 and retired Truck Driver for the George Igel Co. Member of the Masonic Lodge #62. Predeceased by parents Artie and Eunice Davidson Ellis. Survived by loving and devoted wife, Carolyn Hairston Ellis; sons, Artie, Chad and Jared Ellis and Steven Younger; daughters, Nadine Ellis and Brenda Ampadu, all of Columbus, Oh.; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; aunt, Ealie Thompson of San Bernadino, Calif.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward Hairston of Northfork, W.Va., Caleb (Sinara) Hairston, Linda (Leonard) Montgomery of Northfork, W.Va. and Agnes (Terril) Lofton of Reynoldsburg, Oh.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. FITZWATER Roberta Jeanne Fitzwater, age 74, of Plain City, died Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at her daughter's residence after a brief illness of liver cancer. She was a former head seamstress of Lazarus and the Union Department Stores for over 25 years and was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Worthington. She is survived by her son, Daniel (Lynne) Fitzwater of Carson City, Nevada; daughters, Dianne Fitzwater and Lisa (Rodney) Koon, both of Upper Arlington; her companion of 45 years, George M. Miller of Plain City; grandchildren, Danielle, Dan Jr., Shawna, Lauren, Ryan, Austin, Brittany, Brooke, Bobbie, and Billy; sisters, Carole (Richard) Simpson of Newcomerstown, OH, Lillian (Clyde) Eide of Westerville, OH, and Violet (Glen) Johns of New Albany, OH; former husbands, Neil Bennett and Robert Fitzwater; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Ruth and Ross Husted of Worthington, OH and Maxine Nelson of Upper Arlington. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, where the funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2001. Dr. Frank Luchsinger will officiate. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, New Albany, Oh.

Gardner Elloise Marie Gardner, 78, of Grove City, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at Lebanon Country Manor Nursing Home. She was retired from 3M and was a member of Moose Lodge #11. Elloise is survived by her husband of 60 years, Oscar Gardner; sons, Richard (Jackie) Gardner of Grove City, John Gregory (Mindy) Gardner of Columbus, Larry (Judy) Gardner of Columbus and Brian (Carol) Gardner of Mt. Sterling; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Whity of Columbus. Funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2001 at the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Saturday 8 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.

HAMMOND Nelson Vogt Hammond, 79, a resident of Traditions at Stygler Road Nursing Home, Gahanna, Oh., died there at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2001. Born December 4, 1921 in Champaign County, Oh., son of William Henry Hammond and Bertha Susan (Petty). He was a painter for a number of years and was a WW II U.S. Navy Veteran. Survivors include 6 children and spouses, Jean and Robert Titer, Jill Lynn Ehrman, Sally Jo Hammond, all of Springfield, Sue Ellen Christian, Jacqueline Murray, both of Gahanna, Oh. and Nelson V. "Bud" and Helen Hammond, Jr. of Groesbeck, Tex.; brother, Carl Hammond of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Dolly Schaffer of Champaign County, Oh.; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife Martha Mae (Knear) Hammond in 1988 and brother William H. Hammond. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the CONROY FUNERAL HOME, Springfield, where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday with pastor Randy Feldschau officiating. HORVATIN Betty (Ritter) Horvatin, of Columbus, Oh., formerly of Shaler Township, Pa., Saturday, February 10, 2001. Wife of the late John J.; mother of Suzanne H. Hoy; mother-in-law of Dr. Emmart Yost Hoy Jr.; sister of the late Herbert William Ritter Jr.; grandmother of Emmart Yost III (Bo), Ritter Elizabeth, Andrew Faulkner and Sydney Horvatin Hoy; aunt of Linda Lee Russell, Victoria Louise Bentley, Herbert William Ritter III and Christy Ann Ritter. Preceded in death by wife Lillian J., brother Joseph, sister Dorothy Snyder. Survived by loving children, Sharon (Don) Shanks of Westerville, Jan Hoskinson of Japan and Terry (Judy) Hoskinson of Gahanna; grandchildren, Keven (Kara) Shanks, Brian (Melanie) Shanks, Steven Shanks, Cassondra Hoskinson, Amanda Hoskinson; great-grandson, Kendel Shanks; step-great-granddaughters, Rachel and Ashley King; brothers, William E. KLAYMAN Ivan Jeffrey Klayman, age 72, of Columbus, Oh., passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at Grant Medical Center. Born in New York, N.Y., son of the late Joseph and Lillian Klayman. He was retired after a 25 year career in Aviation, having served in the U.S. Air Force and Naval Reserves, as well as volunteering at the Ohio Museum of Aviation. He was a graduate of Toms River High School in New Jersey and Embry Riddle University. He also served as Past President of the Whitehall-Bexley Rotary. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Lindstrom Klayman; daughter, Irene and her family, Robert, Brent, Neil and Joel; son, John and his family, Beth Carrie and Erin; son, Don and his family, Lori, Keenan and Philip; sister, Janeth (Lenny). Family will receive friends Friday February 16, 12noon-1 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. with a private graveside service to follow. In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations be made to The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital or The Leukemia Aid Program, Leukemia Society of America, Central Ohio Chapter, 145 High St., Columbus, Oh. 43215.
