ROSS Kathryn Good Ross, age 94, died February 3, 2001, at Sonoma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Kathryn, a 24 year resident of Sonoma, Calif., was born in Pleasant Home, Oh. in 1906. Kathryn graduated from the Ohio Wesleyan University, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and taught school for several years in Wayne County, Oh. From 1944 until 1951, the family lived in Bellevue, Oh., where Mr. Ross was the High School band director. The following ten years were spent in Columbus, Oh., before moving to Calif. with her husband and sons in 1961. They resided in Southern California until 1977, and then they moved to Sonoma Valley, where they remained. In later years, she and her husband, Nathan, were active participants in the Foster Grandparent Program of California, founded by Mrs. Nancy Reagan. Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Nathan, son Larry Ross, brothers Richard C., David B., and Stanley Good, sister Dorothy Good Howey, great-granddaughter Sunne Mastracci. She is survived by her daughter, Lenore (David) Mastracci of Upper Arlington, OH; son, Leonard Ross of Napa, CA; grandchildren, Maria (Eric) Olson of Marlborough, MA, Michael (Cami) Mastracci of Upper Arlington, OH and Tony (Sharon) Mastracci of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren, Nicolas Mastracci and Molly Olson. A Memorial Service will be held 4:30 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Oh. A private interment will take place at Fairhaven Cemetery, Pleasant Home, Oh.

ROZELLE Mrs. Joyce J. Rozelle, age 69. Service of memory Tuesday 12 noon, Friendship Baptist Church, 1775 W. Broad St. Mrs. Rozelle will lie in state in the church Tuesday after 10 a.m., where the family will receive friends 11 a.m. until time of service. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estates. Arrangements entrusted to DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St.

SHOEMAKER Betty L. Shoemaker, age 76, Saturday, O.S.U. East Hospital. Retired Capital University Law Library. Member Trinity Episcopal Church and Community Chapter #488 O.E.S. Survived by sister, Rosemary McMillin; nephew, Glenn (Janet) McMillin and children, Clint, Katelyn and John, all of Indiana; niece, Cheryl (Randy) Miller and son, Ryan, all of California. Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m., EVANS FUNERAL HOME, 4171 E. Livingston Ave., where service will be Tuesday 10 a.m. Interment Glen Rest Cemetery.

SHUMAKER Kenneth "Dip" Shumaker, age 89, of Groveport, Friday, February 16, 2001, Berger Hospital in Circleville. Born February 18, 1911 in Canal Winchester to the late William E. and Lillian M. (Raver) Shumaker. Retired Assistant Fire Chief for Madison Township. Member of Peace Lutheran Church and Knights of Pythias. WWII U.S. Army veteran. Survived by his daughter, Barbara (Richard) Miller, Circleville; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Ethel in 1990; grandson Charles Kenneth Miller; brother Loris "Doc" Shumaker; and sister Florence Root. Friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo Street, Canal Winchester. Graveside funeral service and interment will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Carroll Cemetery with Pastor Carl Aimes officiating. Friends who wish may contribute to the Madison Township Fire Department in Dip's memory.

SIMPSON Ned J. Simpson, 75, of Guysville, Oh., formerly of Canal Winchester, Oh., died Friday, February 16, 2001 at his residence. He was born, December 8, 1925 in Frost, Oh. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a retired farmer. He retired from the Canal Winchester School District as a school bus driver. He was an avid high school baseball supporter, lifetime member of the Coolville VFW, member of the Canal Winchester American Legion Post, member of the Knights of Pythias, and a member of the Stewart United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mildred A. Ballmer Simpson; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Cathy, and son, Kenneth; one sister, Lola Mae Lackey; one brother, Howard Simpson; five grandsons, Ned and Deanna Powell Simpson, Jim, Nick, Matt, and Alex; one great-grandson, Austin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; a daughter-in-law Nancy Jackson Simpson; a brother-in-law Walter Ballmer; one brother and four sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. at the WHITE-MOQUIN FUNERAL HOME, 9 Fifth St., Coolville, with the Rev. Jane Beatty officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Appalachian Community Hospice Program.

SNIDER Robert R. Snider, age 72, of Pickerington, passed to eternal life on Friday, February 16, 2001 at home surrounded by the love of his family. He is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Pearl, and two grandsons Robert and Keith. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Cora; children, Bobby (Tami), Pickerington, Diana Blust, Pataskala, Janet (Dick) Fowle, Battle Creek, Mich., Elaine (Robert) Lloyd, Reynoldsburg, Eileen (Mark) Koehler, Pickerington; grandchildren, Karie, Denny, Katie, Kacie, Jill, Raymond, Sarah, Bobby, Ben, Mollie, Jon, Daniel, Michael, Courtney, and Troy; great-grandchildren, Logan, Sawyer, Abigail, Emily, Heidi, Hannah, Hallee, Nickolas; his brothers, Fred (Janine), Jim, Charles (Nancy); sisters, Mickey (Eddie) Warren and Sue (Terry) Romine; numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, Ernie. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II and the Korean War, a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus, and a member of Seton Parish, where he served as an usher. He retired in 1990 as District Manager of Columbus from Keebler Co. He is the cornerstone of our family and all will remember him as the man with the smile. Family and friends may visit 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Road N. (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington. SPEARS Lillian M. Spears, age 76, of Township Road 166, Ashley, Oh., died Friday afternoon February 16, 2001 at her home. She was born June 8, 1924 in Louisa, Ky., to the late Andrew J. and Myrtle M. (Rice) Woods. Lillian had worked at both Owens-Illinois and Federal Glass in Columbus. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Vada and Donald Spears-Chafin of Ashley, and Ada and Buddy Davidson of Mount Gilead; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Nancy Spears of Columbus; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Woods of Texas. In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Garland A. Spears, who she married in Gary, Ind. on May 14, 1954; a son James G. Spears; four brothers; and four sisters. Friends may call at the GOMPF FUNERAL HOME in Cardington, Oh., on Monday from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Rev. Gregory Lewis will officiate, and the burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery.

SPRAGG Ruth Spragg, age 92, died February 13, 2001 at her residence. She was a resident of Upper Arlington. Graduated from North High School in 1927. Attended Ward Belmont in Nashville, Tenn. She received a Bachelor's Degree from Ohio Wesleyan in fine arts. She was also a Girl Scout Leader for 14 years. Preceded in death by father William H. Lauer, mother Minnette J. Lauer, sister Dorothy C. Paulson. Survived by her daughters, Susan Spragg Carr and Sally Spragg Kelly; grandchildren, John (Nancy) Kelly, Kent Kelly, Michael Kelly, Shawn (Elizabeth) Carr, Christopher (Jennifer) Carr, Aaron (Tiffany) Carr; great-grandchildren, Robert, James, John David, Richard, Sarah, Noah, Sierra, Nicholas, Chase and Korall; nephew, Zeph W. Paulson (Kim) and Chelsea. Memorial Service will be February 22 at the SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 E. State St. at 7:30 p.m. Family will receive friends prior to service at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the charity of one's choice.

STEVENSON Robert B. Stevenson, M.D., age 75, of Upper Arlington, died unexpectedly Saturday, February 10, 2001 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. He retired as a private practice psychiatric physician in July, 1999 following over 44 years of service. Survived by his wife, Martha; sons and their families, Robert B. III, D.D.S. and wife Barbara and children, Jody Ann and Robert Woodrow; Jeffrey M. and wife Teresa and children, Jeffrey Michael II and Amanda Leigh; J. Andrew and wife, Regina and daughter, Molly Ann; cousins, John (Molly) Stevenson, John E. (Fran) Stevenson, Mrs. Thomas D. (Nell) Stevenson and Mary Jane Stevenson (Tremper) Longman; many nieces and nephews and good friends. Preceded in death by parents Helen and Dr. Robert B. Stevenson and cousins Thomas D. Stevenson Jr. M.D. and Benjamin S. Stevenson, Ph.D. He graduated from Columbus North High School, 1942; B.A. from The Ohio State University, 1948 and O.S.U. College of Medicine, 1948. His post graduate education consisted of internship at White Cross Hospital; Christ Hospital, Cincinnati; Fellow, Menninger Foundation School of Psychiatry, Topeka, KS. and Chief Resident in Psychiatry, Ohio State University. Dr. Stevenson was clinical instructor, clinical assistant professor, and clinical professor, then becoming program Director Department of Psychiatry, Riverside Methodist Hospital for 17 years. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. He was a member of Columbus Academy of Medicine, Ohio State Medical Assoc., American Medical Assoc., Central Ohio Neuro-Psychiatric Society and its president for two terms, Ohio State Psychiatric Assoc., The American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, Certified in Psychiatry, 1954, American Psychiatric Assoc. (Fellow- 1963), with Life Fellowship, 1989, Pan American Medical Assoc., and Diplomate, 1964, The Royal Society of Health, Great Britain and Fellowship, 1971, and Menninger Foundation Alumni Assoc. Dr. Stevenson was Trustee and Co-Founder of University Area Drug Crisis Center. A Memorial Service was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road with The Rev. Bruce Smith officiating. Inurnment Union Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute to a favorite charity of choice, in his memory.

TUDOR James Edward Tudor, age 72, of Westerville, Friday, February 16, 2001. Retired Chief Investigator for the State of Ohio Pharmacy Board. Consultant for Merck-MedCo. Former officer for the State Highway Patrol. Former member of the Whitehall Police Department. Worked for Swift and Co. and Prudential. Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Member of the Central College Presbyterian Church. Member of Eagles Club and V.F.W. Survived by wife, Donna Tudor; children, Jane and Jeff Welsh, James Jr. and Judy Tudor, Paul and Phyllis Tudor, Leslie and Paul Turner, Rhonda and Mike Motil, Rebecca and Steven Plonsky; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Charles and Raymond Tudor; sisters, June Lesher and Shirley Vingle; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by first wife Joan Tudor, parents Wilbur and Bertha Tudor, brothers Richard and John Tudor, sisters Marie Gornall, Margaret Tussing and Mary Jane Schmitt, grandson Chad Turner. VENSEL W. Brent Vensel, 48, of Pickerington, Ohio, formerly of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, died Friday, February 16, 2001 at Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio on Sunday, November 16, 1952, the son of the late William E. and Isadora Arlene Shiffman Vensel. He was a commissary manager at Donatos Pizza in Columbus, Ohio. He previously worked for Wendy's International and the Youghiogheny and Ohio Coal Co. He was a member of the Colerain Presbyterian Church and the Indian Club of Tiltonsville. He was an avid golfer and a PYAA girls baseball coach. He was a 1970 graduate of Martins Ferry High School and a 1975 graduate of Florida State University. Surviving are his beloved wife and best friend, Jan Himel Vensel; loving daughter, Jessi Clair Vensel; two brothers, Richard Vensel of Texas and Mark Vensel, Martins Ferry; one sister, Rhonda Jaworski, Martins's Ferry; mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Jim Himel, Martins Ferry; and his beloved golden retriever, Tanner. Friends will be received Sunday 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home, where services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. with Diocesan Seminarian Jason Prati, officiating. Mausoleum encryptment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio. The family requests contributions be made to Education Fund for Jessi Vensel. VILLIERS A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ann Villiers, 61, of Granville, Oh., will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at St. Edward Catholic Church, with the Msgr. Paul Enke officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Villiers died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Saturday, February 17, 2001. She was born in Cleveland, Oh., on January 10, 1940, to the late John and Bernice Luzny. Mary Ann, a member of St. Edward Church, worked for many years as a distribution manager at Y&O Coal. She also worked at the Child Support Enforcement Agency. Mary Ann is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Cindy Villiers of Newark, Oh.; two grandchildren, Megan Villiers and Nicholas Villiers; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Barbara Saunders of LaVerne, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband Bob Villiers in 1990; and two brothers Edward Luzny and Chester Luzny. Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2001, at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where Vigil Service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday. VanORDER Audrey L. (Van Gundy) VanOrder. Born November 30, 1917. Passed into the hands of our Lord at Mt. Carmel East Hospital Saturday, February 17, 2001 after a brief illness. Retired 1974 Personnel Secretary Jeffrey Manufacturing Company. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Paul H. VanOrder Sr.; loving children, Janice (Clarence) Readout, Grove City, James F. (Gayle) VanOrder, Johnstown, Donald P. (Marie) VanOrder Sr., Westerville, Paul H. (Donna) VanOrder Jr., Hilliard; loving grandmother of: Stephanie, Scott, Beth, Amy, Don Jr., Allison, Danielle, Justin, Jeremy; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Evans, Canal Winchester; brother, Don (Joanna) Van Gundy, Columbus; nieces, Jeanne Evans, Kathy (Ted) Poth; 3 great nieces, Amy, Katy, Jody. VanVORHIS Sean L. VanVorhis, age 22, Thursday, February 15, 2001, very unexpectedly, St. Ann's Hospital. 1997 graduate of Johnstown-Monroe High School. Baseball coach at Johnstown-Monroe and Northridge High Schools. Employee of Pepsi of Columbus. Preceded in death by brother Seamus, grandparents James Lynch, Harold (Nancy) VanVorhis, cousins Kyle and Korey Lyons. Survived by parents, Steve and Kathy; brother, Liam; sisters, Shannon and Catie; grandmother, Dorothy Lynch; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
