STEVENS Brenda A. Martin-Stevens was born July 25, 1956. She departed this life on February 16, 2001 at the age of 44. Brenda was the youngest of five children born to Howard E. and Margaret Martin in Cincinnati, Oh. Brenda was a graduate of Woodward High School and she attended the University of Cincinnati. She was a very active member of the Inspirational Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Oh. When Brenda moved to Columbus she became a member of the Friendship Baptist Church where Dr. G. Thomas Turner is the pastor. Brenda was the former owner of the Hands in Motion Nail Salon here in Columbus. Her father Howard E. Martin Sr. precedes her in death. Brenda leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Dana; her sons, Brandon and Christopher; mother, Margaret Martin of Cincinnati. Also her brother, Howard Jr. (Ida); her sisters, Carolyn Todd, Yvonne Martin of Cincinnati, Harriet Martin-Grace (Lester); and her father-in-law, Lloyd Stevens of Columbus. She also leaves her best friends, Deborah Halsell and Marcella of Cincinnati and Janice Pierson of Columbus; aunts, uncles, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral service Friday 12 p.m., Friendship Baptist Church, 1775 W. Broad St. Rev. G. Thomas Turner officiating. Family will receive friends 11 a.m. until time of service. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Arrangements entrusted to DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St.

WALTON Robert James Walton, Sr., age 70, of New Albany, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 19, 2001 at St. Ann's Hospital. Born in Plain Township to the late Roy and Elizabeth Walton. Bob was the 5th of 7 children, six of whom graduated from New Albany High School. Veteran U.S. Army WW II having served as a paratrooper. Retired from Timken Roller Bearing Co. after 39 years as a machinist. He was also employed as an Instrument Maker for the OSU Astronomy Department for 5 years. He was a collector of classic automobiles, loved gardening, archery and baseball. Preceded in death by brothers Roy, Ray and Paul. Survived by wife of 30 years, Carole D. Walton; son, Robert J. (Sue) Walton, Jr.; daughter, Amy Walton; step-children, Steve (Eileen) Rumley, Susan (Matthew) Dicks; grandchildren, Katherine, Andrew, Joey and Calvin; brothers, Cecil (Arloia) Walton, Donald (Barbara) Walton; sister, Helen King; many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 East Johnstown Rd. (on Rt. 62, * mile east of Hamilton Rd.), Gahanna, where service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2001. Rev. Bob Wiley officiating. Interment Maplewood Cemetery.

WATROUS Melvin R. Watrous, 59, February 18, 2001 at Doctors Hospital West. Retired Fire Marshall for Grandview Heights Fire Department. Athletic Trainer for Bexley High School and Academic Chairperson for the Fire Academy at Northwest Career Center. Member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Community Lodge #684 F&AM, Scottish Rite. Preceded in death by father Melvin L. Watrous. Survived by mother, Verla (Frank) Switzer; brother, Daniel Watrous; aunt, Lesta L. "Betty" Morgan; several cousins. Friends may call at the DEYO-DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, 1578 W. First Ave., Grandview Heights, Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where service will be Thursday 10 a.m. Rev. Brian Green officiating. Masonic service Wednesday 8:30 p.m. Interment Sunset Cemetery. WHITE Wayne Anthony White, 46, resident of Long Beach, Ca., passed away January 2001. Wayne was born September 17, 1954 in Columbus, Oh. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Marie Ward Smith and grandparents William H. and Arzilia R. White. He is survived by his son, Marc Anthony; and daughter, Portia Amandla of Phoenix, Az.; mother, Dolores C. White; father, Wayne O. (Nora) White; sisters, Roxanne M. White, Cathy L. Valdes and Michelle N. (Chris) Tudor; grandfather, Rochelle Smith; great-uncle, Eldon W. (Elsie) Ward; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; former wife, Jackie Perkins of Phoenix, Az.; and special friend, Audrey Whittaker of Los Angeles, Ca.; and many friends. He graduated from East High School in 1972 and attended Howard University; associated with the Ohio Players Theater, Joe Papp's Black and Hispanic Shakespeare Co., Shakespeare in the Park of New York; independent film of "Children Out of Twilight"; appeared in "Gun Smoke", the television movie; and received great recognition for his screen play "Berlick" from The Robey Theater in Hollywood, Ca. He was a talented writer and actor. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the Central Ohio Diabetes. Association, 1580 King Avenue, Columbus, Oh. 43212. Family will receive friends Friday 7-8 p.m. at St. Paul AME Church, 639 E. Long Street, 43215. Memorial service immediately following. WISE Pauline Wise, age 78, passed away Monday, February 19, 2001. She was a retired head surgical nurse of St. Ann's Hospital for over 29 years. Active with the Chicago Ave. Elementary School's PTA. Preceded in death by sons Gerald Jr. and Richard. Survived by sons, Roger A. (Judy) Wise of Conrad, Iowa, Walter Eugene (Georgeanne) Wise of Grove City; many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; daughters-in-law, Sandra Wise and Judy Wise. Friends may call the O.R. WOODYARD CHAPEL, 1346 South High Street, Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. and Thursday from 12noon till time of service at 1 p.m. Judy Wise officiating. Interment Grove City Cemetery. Family suggests donations to Hospice of Columbus.

ZELLERS Robert R. "Bob" Zellers, age 84, passed away Tuesday morning. A native of Columbus he was owner of B & T Floor Coverings. After retirement he was a carpet inspector for carpet mills. He was a member of the Northwest United Methodist Church, and the Tirangle Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Marie; daughters, Judy DiPaolo of Dublin, Sandy Holton of Upper Arlington; 7 grandchildren, Benn and Barry Wilcox, Lisa Krizan, Richard DiPaolo III, Joseph, Adriana and Cristina DiPaolo; 2 great-grandchildren Kate & Aubrey Krizan. A brother Paul preceded him in death. Friends may call on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Northwest United Methodist Church, 5200 Riverside Dr., where funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Heart Association, 5455 N. High St. Columbus, OH 43214. Arrangement entrusted to RODMAN FUNERAL SERVICE.

ADAMS Rev. A.T. Adams, age 89, of Columbus, Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at Mayfair Village. Member of Cypress Wesleyan Church. Retired pastor of Wesleyan, Pilgrim Holiness and Congregational Methodist Churches in La., Mo., NJ, Pa., De. and Oh. Born February 24, 1911 in Butler, La. He began his preaching career in 1932. Graduated in 1942 from God's Bible School College in Cincinnati, where he met his wife of 60 years, Rev. Agatha Adams, who survives along with a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and Dan Lemke of Columbus. Also survived by brothers, Edgar, J.B. and James Otis, all of La.; and by a great company of saints the world over who responded to his proclamation of the Gospel. Preceded in death by son Walter, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends may visit Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard. Funeral service will be Friday 10 a.m. at Cypress Wesleyan Church, 377 Alton and Darby Creek Rd., Galloway. Rev. Ted Smith and Rev. Dale George officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. in Leesburg, Oh. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to contribute to their local church in his memory. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

BEATTIE Mary Louise Beattie, age 80, died Sunday, February 18, 2001 at Berger Hospital in Circleville. A graduate of The Ohio State University School of Nursing, she worked as a Columbus Public Health Nurse, later on the Red Cross Blood Mobile, and as an office nurse for her husband in Coshocton before he joined Dr. Joseph Ridgeway as an orthopedic specialist. She was a charter member of the Women's Sustaining Board of Grant Hospital. A native of Columbus, she lived 20 years in Palm Coast, Florida before returning to Columbus and residing at Friendship Village, Dublin, then moving to Pickaway Manor in Circleville. She was a member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church and a charter member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church at Palm Coast. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. F. C. "Buzz" Beattie, parents Ernest H. and Edna Reel Matheny, sister Esther Knospe, and niece Ann Knospe McBride. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Gauggel; and brother, James O. Matheny, both of Circleville, OH; nieces, Linda (Gary) Dougherty of West Chester, PA and Marilyn (Dick) Fisher of Circleville, OH; nephew, Michael Matheny of West Jefferson, OH; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2001 at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 W. Broad St., Galloway, OH. Pastor Don Bachman, Jr. will officiate. Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in her memory. Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd.

BERRY Dorothy Berry "Honey Dear", age 73, Saturday, February 17, 2001 at Grant Medical Center. A former employee of O.S.U. Preceded in death by her parents Pearl and Delphia Foster, daughter Delphia Banks "Becky", special friend Christopher Edwards. Survived by granddaughters, Leslie (Keith) Hardy, Seantee' Banks "Binkey"; grandson, Sean (Danielle) Banks; mother, Letty Foster; sister, Florence Crockett; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan, Danielle, Marcellus, Marya', Seantia, Dymiere and Ashley; special friends, Gloria and Clyde Parks, Hiwatha and Sylvester Hall and Audree Turner; many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. BRANNON Martha Mae Brannon, age 76, of Sunbury, died Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville. Preceded in death by husband Robert A. Brannon, parents Forest and Ima (Beaver) Belknap, brother Donald Belknap. Survived by sons, Dan (Shirley) Brannon, Utica, Dennis Brannon, Sunbury and Dana (Lyn) Brannon, Fla.; daughter, Julia (Chester) Wolfe, Sunbury; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Glen Belknap, Columbus; several nieces and nephews. BURNSIDE Evelyn E. Burnside, age 87, of Columbus, died Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at the Franklin Woods Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her son Denver Spencer. Her survivors include her children, James Spencer, Patsy Smith, William Spencer, Bernice Sutton and Shelia Gibson; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service 1 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2001 at the RUTHERFORD-SHROYER FUNERAL HOME, 1278 West Broad St., Columbus. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time.

Carter Robert K. Carter, 81, of Columbus, Wednesday, February 21, 2001, Riverside Hospital. Survived by children, Mary Elizabeth (Richard) O'Brien, Robert Truitt Carter and wife, Dee Seeger; grandchildren, Mary Margaret O'Brien and Joseph Corey O'Brien; brother, Edward H. CHANDLER (LYNCH) Martha June Lynch Chandler, born June 5, 1925, passed away in her home February 19, 2001 after a brief battle with leukemia. Survived by daughter, Robin (Lynch) Weidman of Marietta, Ga.; son, William A. Lynch, III of Columbus; daughter, Heidi (Lynch) Stuff (Ken) of Mariengo, Oh.; grandchildren, Janelle and Autumn Weidman, Karrina and Karissa Lynch and Kenneth, William, Gary and Jillian Stuff; beloved sister, Catherine Dupler of Logan, Oh.; many nieces and nephews, special friends, Charlene Devaney and Doris Hill; many church friends. She served as a Riverside volunteer (500 hours) and was a previous owner/beautician of Fantasy Hair Fashions in Beechwold. Active member of the Oakland Park United Methodist Church, where she served as finance committee chair and on the basement sale committee. A memorial service will be held Friday February 23, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. in the Oakland Park United Methodist Church, 994 Oakland Park Ave., Columbus. Friends and family are invited to visit following the service until 5 p.m. in the church reception hall. COLLINS Lenora Collins, age 88, Monday, February 19, 2001 at the Wexner Heritage Center. Preceded in death by her husband Gene Collins, parents Grant and Vinnie Reed, brother William Reed "Bill" and sisters Goldie Sawyers-Grigley and Lettie Matthews. Survived by her brother, Ulysses Reed; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special nephew, James (Betty) Sawyers for caring for her and the Heritage House Staff.
