McGINNIS Nelson Leroy McGinnis Jr. was born February 16, 1954 in Columbus, Oh. to Nelson L. and Virginia L. McGinnis who both preceded him in death. Nelson departed this life early Tuesday, February 20, 2001. Retired from Michaels Finer Meats after 24 years of service. He was employed with Midwest Seafoods. Survived by daughter, Phatima; wife, JoAnne; children, Latrisha and David Evans, RayVaughn Steele; brothers, Barry L. and William McGinnis; sisters, Brenda A. and Hazel G. McGinnis; and a very special niece, Winona R. McGinnis; grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Nelson will be missed dearly. Friends may call 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2001 at the SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 E. State St., where funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery.

McGLAUGHLIN Malcolm L. McGlaughlin, age 75, of Columbus, February 22, 2001 at Franklin Woods Health Care Center. Retired from Westinghouse. U.S. Merchant Marine Veteran, WW II. Preceded in death by brother Richard McGlaughlin. Survived by wife of 53 years, Roberta Irene (Laird) McGlaughlin; children, Cheryll (Rich) Gardner, Deborah McGlaughlin and Mark McGlaughlin; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorial Service Saturday 11 a.m. at GRAUMLICH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St. Rev. G.A. Haubrich officiating.

O'NEIL Stephen "Stevie" O'Neil, 33, Minneapolis, Minn., died Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at Abbott North Western Hospital, Minneapolis. He was a 1985 graduate of Millersport High School and a Receptionist with Quest Communication. He is survived by his parents, Mike and Mary O'Neil, Millersport; sisters and brothers-in-law, Terri and Ryan Zollinger, Millersport, Tammy and Phillip Daley, Vine Grove, Ky.; 4 nieces; aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and family in Minneapolis. A Memorial Service will be held 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, Lancaster, with Pastor Don Meadows officiating. Friends may call 6 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place 11 a.m. Monday at Morgan Chapel Cemetery. Memorials may be given to AIDS Awareness.

PRIEST Barbara Varin Priest, died on February 19, 2001 at O.S.U. Medical Center. She was born in Indianapolis, Ind. and graduated from Indiana University and taught high school in Ft. Wayne and Indianapolis. She married Robert W. Priest, and they moved to Upper Arlington, where they were residents for more than 50 years. Mr. Priest preceded her in death in 1983. Barbara was a loyal member of Alpha Chi Omega, her college sorority, for more than 65 years, also a docent and later a member of Women's Board of The Columbus Museum of Art. She was a member of Group Y at First Community Church. Barbara was also a manager at Pappagallo Shop where she made many friends. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Priest Bain, Columbus and Nanci J. (Reverend Rodney F. Quainton) Priest, Bloomfield Hills, MI; sister, Carolyn Varin (William E. Sr. M.D.) Copeland, Columbus; and four grandsons, Marshall Coleman Bain, Grant Varin Bain, Austin Wells Bain and Joseph Andrew Priest-Grochowski. In addition, she is survived by nephews, William E. (Valerie) Copeland Jr., M.D., Christopher M. (Constance) Copeland, M.D. of Columbus and Stephen J. (Karen) Copeland, M.D. of Winston-Salem, NC. Relatives and friends will remember with affection her ongoing optimism and winning smile. A service of memory will be at First Community Church, Burkhart Chapel, on Saturday, February 24, 2001 at 10 a.m. Friends if they wish, may make contributions to First Community Church Foundation, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus, Ohio 43212. ROADS Noah Roads, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2001. He was a WW II Veteran in the Army Corp of Engineers. He served in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. Noah was a graduate of The Ohio State University in 1950. He worked for Tennesse Gas Company which became Tenneco as a faithful employee for 34 years. Noah did outstanding volunteer work with Westminster United Methodist Church, Christian Community Service Center and the Boy Scouts of America. He volunteered with Big Brothers and Telephone Reassurance Assistance, he also volunteered with Lighthouse for the Blind. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helyn Roads; brother, Paul Roads with his wife, Grace; their 2 sons, Paul Jr. and John; nieces, Nancy Bolyard, Cynthia Darling, Marilyn Orenson and Carol Roads. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2001 at J.B. EARTHMAN-TANGLEWOOD FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 5740 San Felipe at Bering. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2001 at Westminster United Methodist Church, 5801 San Felipe, Houston, Tex., with Rev. Gary Masterson officiating.

SELZER John H. Selzer, age 84, of Canal Winchester, Wednesday, February 21, 2001, Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Survived by wife, Gladys; and 5 children. Arrangements being completed by the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, Canal Winchester.

SHEVLIN John J. Shevlin, 35, died Monday, February 19, 2001 in Mich., where he resided. A graduate of Northland High School. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS and was to graduate with his MBA from The University of Michigan. He worked as a Logistics Manager for Technicolor. He is survived by his mother, Martha Shevlin; siblings, Kevin (Vicki) Murphy, Martin (Rosemary) Murphy, Maureen Murphy, Eileen (Bill) O'Dwyer, Ellen Shevlin, Tom (Amy) Shevlin, Bob Shevlin and Michelle Shevlin; nieces and nephews, Keegan and Erin Murphy, James and Monica O'Dwyer, Kelsey and Chloe Shevlin; special great-uncle, Bob Shevlin; numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Michael Shevlin. Memorial Mass 10 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2001, St. Anthony Catholic Church, 4913 Atwater Dr (Urban at Atwater). Fr. John Swickard, Celebrant. Private interment at a later date. Family will receive friends Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. His good nature, wit and silly sense of humor will be missed.

SHULTZ Lempi M. Shultz, 94, of Parma, Oh., formerly of Monessen, Pa., passed away 21 February 2001 in Pleasant Lane Villa Nursing Home, Parma, Oh. Born 23 March 1906 in Monessen, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Suzanne Alhanen Nyrhinen. A homemaker, Mrs. Shultz had been a former member of the United Brotheran Church, Monessen. In addition to her parents, she had been preceded in death by her husband Raymond E. Shultz Sr. and 2 daughters Shirley M. Shultz and Sheila R. Thompson, also an infant son David Oliver Shultz. Survivors include 1 daughter, Mrs. Joyce Eckenroad of Parma Heights, Oh.; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond Jr. and his wife, Pat of Columbus, Oh., Sheldon and his wife, Nancy of Columbus, Oh.; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held in the RHOME FUNERAL HOME, INC., A Golden Rule Member Firm, 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, Pa 15062 on Saturday, 24 February 2001 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, 24 February 2001 with Pastor Charles Barber officiating. Interment will follow at Belle Vernon Cemetery, Belle Vernon, Pa.

SIMMONS Eugene Simmons was born July 10, 1942. He lived in Columbus, Oh. during his childhood and young adulthood and moved to Cleveland, Oh. for several years. He returned to Columbus, Oh. to manage the family business. Eugene was a member of Bethel AME Church where he served on the Steward Board, Men's Chorus, Scott Choral, Music Department-drummer, Men of Bethel (MOB), Finance Committee, Community Gospel Choir. He was also a member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, the Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church Choir and The Columbus Gay Men's Choir. Preceded in death by father James Simmons. He leaves to mourn his passing, daughter, Crystal (James J.) Jackson; mother, Reademer M. Simmons; brother, Eddy James (Chari) Simmons; sister, Ursel Elaine Simmons; along with a host of extended family and friends. Service of Memory Saturday 10 a.m., Bethel AME Church, 2021 Cleveland Ave. Rev. David Todd officiating. Family will receive friends at the church 9 a.m. until time of service. SIMPSON-EVANS Mary E. "Libby" Simpson, age 80, Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for over 70 years. Former Sunday School teacher at St. Paul's. Retired from Columbus Public Schools. Graduated from Capital University. Preceded in death by husband Max Evans, mother Ethel Osborn, father Harry Osborn Sr., brother Harry Osborn Jr., mother-in-law Lois Evans, father-in-law Leslie Evans, brothers-in-law Neil Evans and Forest Evans and son-in-law Ronald Firman. Survived by husband, Glenn; daughter, Gail Firman; grandson, Scott (Colleen) Firman; granddaughter, Lisa (Joe) Stemen; great-grandchildren, Alex D., Ericka, Alex P., Kara, Kirsten and Abbey; 3 sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. Friends received Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St. Additional visitation Saturday from 12noon-1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 322 E. SKATZES Dawerance H. Skatzes, 86, of 303 Old National Rd., Old Washington, Oh., died 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Oh., where he had resided for 2 years. Born August 21, 1914 in Delaware, Oh., son of the late Carl A. and Eulaha Clara (Stricklen) Skatzes. Retired Teacher and Superintendant for the Old Washington School District. Protestant by faith. WW II Veteran. Member Cambridge Lodge 66 F&AM, who will hold service at the funeral home Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m., Scottist Valley of Cambridge, V.F.W. Kipling. Member of the Ohio Army National Guard. Life member of Eagles, Moose. Dawerance H. Skatzes joined the Ohio Naitonal Guard for the second time at age of 18. He was called into service (domestic) during WW II and continued his Guard service until he retired with them. He was a teacher and administrator in Zanesville and Columbus and principal of Old Washington Schools. Survived by wife, Mildred (Stillion) Skatzes, whom he married February 18, 1975; daughters, Mrs. Paul (Thelma) Moore of Delaware, Oh., Mrs. Robert (Etta Ann) Williamson of San Jose, Calif. and Mrs. Neil (Neatha) Snyder of Avon Park, Fla.; sons, Carl A. (Monique) Skatzes of Tomball, Tex. and Brent A. (Sheila) Skatzes of Sunbury, Oh.; sisters, Mrs. Jane Boster, Mrs. Virginia Skatzes and Mrs. Dale (Shirley) Wilson, all of Delaware, Oh.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by brothers Arthur, Norman and Richard Skatzes. SMITH Annabelle Shavers Smith, age 75, was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she served in the 60 and Over Group, Mass Choir, Pastorial Choir and Bible School Ministry. Preceded in death by parents Aaron and Julia Smith, uncle and aunt whom reared her Hezekiah and Emma Smith and twin brother. Survived by daughter, Mary Lou Eiland; grandson, Daryl Richardson (Michelle Ferguson); step-daughter, Joyce Taylor; step-grandchildren, Anthony Merchant, Patrice Merchant; special grandson, Chester (Robin) Eiland; 3 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren; adopted daughters, Saundra Crook, Pinkie Hewlett, Agnes Johnson; special cousins, Jeanie Brent, JoAnn Jackson, Mary McClendon, Gertrude Wells; other relatives and many friends. STAGE Angela Marie Stage, age 85, of Grove City, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at Grant Medical Center. She was 1 of the original 11 members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church when it started in 1953. She was also a member of the Rosary-Alter Society and the St. Elizabeth Guild. Preceded in death by her husband Jacob, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Angela is survived by her son, Tom (Jodi) Stage of Grove City; grandchildren, Patrick, Ginifer and Beth Stage; sister, Frances Ricci; brother-in-law, Ike (Shelah) Stage; sisters-in-law, Bernice (Dick) Chaddock and Janet (Ed) Fisher. Visitation Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus St., Grove City. STRAIT Owen "Oscar" Strait, age 73, of Groveport, died February 21, 2001. He was born November 26, 1927. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth and son Bill, also parents Alvie and Rose Strait. Survived by son, Robert Strait and his life partner, Brenda of McArthur; daughters, Lynda (Paul) Snyder of Lancaster, Marsha (James) Lowery of Pickerington and Debbie (Carl) Gibson of Groveport; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill, Otho, Wilbur and Louie; sisters, Clara and Erma Ann; best friend, Jean Jones; and his dogs, Bud and Spike. STULTZ Mary Ann Stultz, age 40, born January 23, 1960, Columbus, Oh., died February 19, 2001 at residence. Preceded in death by father Joe Stultz and grandparents Lawrence and Annie Mae Simpson and brother Joel Eggleton. Survived by her lifelong mate and companion, William "Peanut" Parnell; mother, Barbara A. Scott; step-father, Damon Scott; 3 daughters, Nikia, Tameka and Michell Stultz; brothers, Kenneth W.
