Faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she served in the 60 and Over Group, Mass Choir, Pastorial Choir and Bible School Ministry. Preceded in death by parents Aaron and Julia Smith, uncle and aunt whom reared her Hezekiah and Emma Smith and twin brother. Survived by daughter, Mary Lou Eiland; grandson, Daryl Richardson; step-daughter, Joyce Taylor; step-grandchildren, Anthony Merchant, Patrice Merchant; special grandson, Chester (Robin) Eiland; 3 great-grandchildren, Amber, Autumn, and Brianna Richardson; 6 step-great-grandchildren; adopted daughters, Saundra Crook, Pinkie Hewlett, Agnes Johnson; special cousins, Jeanie Brent, JoAnn Jackson, Mary McClendon, Gertrude Wells; other relatives and many friends. WILLIAMSON Dr. Debra Lynn Blow Williamson departed this life on February 21, 2001 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. after a lengthy illness. Dr. Williamson was an outstanding music director with the Columbus Public School System for 19 years. In her most recent position, she served as Area Music Coordinator. Debra was a member of the Hosack Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as the Magnification Leader, choir director and member of the Education Committee. Dr. Williamson was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Phi Delta Kappa Education Fraternity, Ohio Education Association and the National Education Association. Her survivors include her loving husband, Ronald A. Williamson, Sr.; her son, Ronald A. Williamson, Jr.; her parents, Dell and William M. Blow, Sr.; her brother, William M. Blow, Jr.; an aunt, Mildred Barnes; father-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; 2 special nephews, Corey and Quinton; a goddaughter, Christina Perry; 7 nieces and nephews; loving cousins and a host of dear friends. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at the Hosack Baptist Church, 1160 Watkins Road on Sunday evening at 5 p.m. Rev. Dr. Trent D. Hayes, presiding. ABELE-SMITH Terry Abele-Smith, of Garland, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 6, 1942 in Van Wert, Ohio and was a 1960 graduate of McArthur High School. She attended American University in Washington, D.C., the Columbus College of Art and Design, and in 1964 graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Ohio University in Athens. She taught art at Groveport Elementary School and was an Interior Designer for Lazarus in Columbus before moving to Texas in 1968. She was an Enriched Art Teacher for talented students at three Garland Elementary Gifted and Talented Academies, and a Docent at the Dallas Museum of Art. She developed the art curriculum for her school district, as well as the program for identifying gifted and talented art students which is currently in use throughout the state of Texas. She was the President of the Garland Panhellenic Association, President of the Garland Art Teachers Association (GATO), a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, a member of the Dallas Visual Arts Center, and past President and active member of the Dallas Chapter of the Ohio University Alumni Association. She was loved and admired by friends and family, and very respected in her field and community. She is survived by her daughter, Cassie Smith Curnutt, Carrollton, Tex.; son, Austin Abele Smith, Garland, Tex.; mother, Addie Riggs Abele, McArthur, Oh.; brothers, Peter B. Abele of Athens, Oh. and David A. "Andy" Abele, Columbus, Oh.; and nephews, Alex and Chase Abele, Athens, Oh. She was preceded in death by her father Judge Homer E. "Pete" Abele on May 12, 2000. In Accordance with her wishes, her body was donated to the Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Tex.
ADAMS Thelma H. Adams, age 90, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2001. She was the daughter of Edwin and Grace Dickson of Lancaster. Also preceded in death by her husband Bernard "Dick" Adams. Survived by sisters, Naomi Schneider and Esther Brockman of Columbus; brothers, Charles (Helen) Dickson of Columbus and Donald (Alvera) Dickson of San Francisco; sister-in-law Ruth Dickson of Gallipolis; nieces, nephews and friends.
