Services for Charles M. Martinez Sr. were held Friday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. George Wenzinger. Burial was in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. Pallbearers were Shane Johnson, Joe Moreno, Hector Conception and Gilbert Jr., Manuel and Chris Donovan.

Service for Dennis R. DeTray were held Friday at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald Luhring officiating. Organist was Jan Kaiser. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike McKeen, Spanky Spangler, Fred DeTray III, Scott DeTray II, Bryan Biggs, Herb Shaffer, Dave Hinesley and Shawn Schlosser. Honorary pallbearer was Dave Williams. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Lloyd Nicol
COLUMBUS - Former Defiance attorney Lloyd Carl Nicol, 56, Columbus, died Wednesday at Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital.
He was born May 29, 1944, in Marysville, the son of Herman and Frieda (Scheiderer) Nicol. In 1966, he married Marsha Paulus, who survives. He was a 1966 graduate of Ohio State University and a 1969 graduate of University of Toledo Law School. He was a claims manager for Personal Service Insurance Co. in Columbus, an attorney in Defiance from 1970-1982 and opened a private practice for two years upon moving to Columbus.
Also surviving are his mother, Marysville; a son, Tony, Columbus; a daughter, Sonya Kelley, Columbus; a sister, Mrs. Ron (Eileen) Vollrath, Marysville; and three grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his father.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church with Rev. John Stolzenbach officiating. Private graveside services were held today at Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville. Arrangements are being handled by Mannasmith-Hale Funeral Home, Marysville.
Preferred memorials are to Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, 300 W. 10th St., Columbus, 43210.

Jodi Shong
Jodi A. (Helland) Shong, 42, Defiance, died at 1:22 p.m. Monday in Defiance Hospital.
She was born April 26, 1958, in Toledo, the daughter of James and Joan (Melczak) Helland. She was a 1976 graduate of Foss High School, Tacoma, Wash. She was a supervisor at Hubbard Co., an employee at Southtown Food Market and a member of Defiance Eagles Aerie 372 Auxiliary.
Surviving are her mother, Joan Helland Johnston, Defiance; two sons, Mathew and Kyle, both of Defiance; a daughter, Jessica, Defiance; a sister, Jackie Gineman, Defiance; and a brother, James Helland, Defiance.
Preceding her in death was her father.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Kummerer officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.

Melvin Meyer
Melvin Henry Meyer, 81, rural Defiance, died Sunday morning at his residence.
He was born March, 22, 1919, in Henry County's Harrison Township, the son of Henry and Clara (Biederstedt) Meyer. In 1940, he married Laura Wichman, who survives. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Florida and its men's club and senior group. He was president, vice president, trustee and treasurer of the church and served on the zoning board of appeals for Richland Township.
Also surviving are three sons, Robert of Fort Wayne, Thomas of Chicago and James, Defiance; four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Mary) Cousino of Napoleon, and Mrs. Harry (Ruth) Block, Judith and Mrs. Ed (Dorthy) Pietrykowski, all of Defiance; three brothers, Virgil, Vernon and Walter, all of Defiance; a sister, Mildred Wendt, Ridgeville Corners; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church with Rev. Douglas Corniels officiating. Entombment will be in Riverview Memory Gardens mausoleum, Defiance. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to Henry County Hospice, the church or American Cancer Society.

Madonna Farley
HICKSVILLE - Madonna May Farley, 87, Hicksville, died Sunday evening at Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville.
She was born Aug. 16, 1913, in Mark Center, the daughter of Charles and Maude (Schooley) Revert. In 1947, she married Lloyd Farley, who died in 1976. She was a beautician in Sherwood and a member of Mark Center United Methodist Church and its United Women and Church Quilters. She was a 50-year member of Defiance County Home Extension Homemakers and resided at Fountain Manor Care Center, Hicksville.
Surviving are a son, Milan, Louisiana; two sisters, Marie Coy and Margaret Witte, both of Hicksville; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, with Rev. Tom Graves officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Paulding County. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to the church.

Albert Stultz
HICKSVILLE - Albert E. Stultz, 71, Hicksville, died at 8:10 a.m. Sunday in his residence.
He was born March 12, 1929, in Lansing, Mich., the son of Charles and Bessie (Cline) Stultz. In 1953, he married Gladys Bell, who survives. He worked at GM Powertrain, Defiance, for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Antwerp and Hicksville Eagles Aerie 2556.
Also surviving are four sons, Roland, David and James, all of Hicksville, and Timothy, Fort Campbell, Ky.; three daughters, Mrs. Glen (Pamela) Crawford and Mrs. Bruce (Sandra) James Jr., both of Hicksville, and Mrs. Bruce (Peggy) James Sr., Montpelier; two sisters, Velma Mann of Williamstown, Ky., and Joanne Porter, Mark Center.; and 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the church with Rev. William Emrick officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery, Hicksville. Visitation will be after 7 p.m. today and after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance County or the church.

Howard Yoder
HICKSVILLE - Howard Yoder, 79, Hicksville, died Saturday evening at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert, from an apparent heart attack.
He was born July 10, 1921, in Mark Center, the son of John and Sarah (Coblentz) Yoder. In 1950, he married Fannie Troyer, who survives. He was a farmer and worked at Irving Ready-Mix Inc. for 42 years, retiring in 1983. He was also a member of Central Mennonite Church in Fort Wayne and Hicksville Horsemen's Association.
Also surviving are three sons, Bob and Gary, both of Hicksville, and Bruce, Huntertown, Ind.; a daughter, Mrs. David (June) Taylor, Hicksville; three brothers, John, Lloyd and Lester, all of Plain City; four sisters, Mrs. Perry (Mary) Yoder of Millersburg, Ind., Mrs. Dan (Erma) Hostetler and Mrs. Alvin (Sara Mae) Troyer, both of Plain City, and Mrs. Sam (Edna) Miller, Tulsa, Okla.; and 12 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a son, James; and four brothers, Alvin, Meno, Mose and Freeman.
Services will be at 10 a.m. (Ind. time) Wednesday in the church with Revs. Don Delagrange and Brent Roth officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery, Hicksville. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. (Ind. time) today at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the Central Mennonite Church Christian School.

Mildred Rentz
NAPOLEON - Mildred C. Rentz, 87, Napoleon, died Saturday at Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo.
She was born Oct. 12, 1912, in Henry County's Liberty Township, the daughter of Earl and Clara (Reichert) Meyers. In 1937, she married Harold Rentz, who died in 1971. She was a machine operator for 31 years at Napoleon Products, retiring in 1975. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, and its Mission Society. She was also past president of Napoleon's Bert G. Taylor American Legion Post 300 Auxiliary, a member of Napoleon's Arthur Dan Petersen VFW Post 1313 Auxiliary and Happy Hearts Club and a volunteer with the American Red Cross bloodmobile.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Donald and James Meyers.
Services were held this morning in the church with Revs. Norm Koy and Peter Marcis officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. Handling arrangements was Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon.
Preferred memorials are to the church's Mission Society, American Red Cross or a charity of the donor's choice.
