Adolph Maag
KALIDA - Adolph W. Maag, 94, Kalida, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in his home.
He was born Dec. 28, 1905, in Columbus Grove, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Erhart) Maag. In 1943, he married M. Irene Jaegers, who died in 1997. He was a retired farmer, former owner of Maag Motor Sales in Kalida, part owner of Little 4 Stables in Kalida and Putnam County commissioner from 1968-76. With his wife, he developed the Maag subdivision in Kalida. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society, Kalida Knights of Columbus, Ottawa American Legion post, Kalida Board of Public Affairs and Kalida Lions and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are two sons, Ted of Danville, Calif., and Ken, Kalida; three daughters, Mrs. Don (Dee Dee) Schlagbaum of Ottoville, Mrs. Mike (Linda) Chartrand of Lima and Margaret Stefanek, Kalida; and 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were six brothers, Alfred, Ed, Frank, Rudy, Clete and Ambrose Maag; and two sisters, Sr. Adelia Maag SND and Mayme Meyer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church with Rev. Scott Kramer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by Ottawa American Legion post. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. today and from 2-9 p.m. Friday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa. There will be a K of C rosary at 8 p.m. Thursday and a scripture service at 3 p.m. Friday.
Preferred memorials are to Putnam County Home Health and Hospice.

Dorothy Waldman
Services for Dorothy B. Waldman were held Wednesday in First Church of God with Revs. Rick Rufenacht and Larry Kennedy officiating. Music was provided by Eileen and Rick Rufenacht. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brian Zipfel, Shawn and Robert Imber, Tony Odenweller, Steve Waldman and Jeff Schimmoller. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Dray, Chris and Peter Waldman and Kenny Daeger. Handling arrangements was Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.

Services for Jeffrey S. Waxler were held Tuesday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Hunsinger officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Terry Brewer, Terry Ames, Jason Shaffer, Todd Phillips, Roger Wright and Todd Nagy.

NAPOLEON - Martha Hoff, 91, Napoleon, died this morning at Napoleon's Lutheran Home. Arrangements are pending at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon.

Glen Smith
SPRING VALLEY, Calif. - Former Defiance resident Glen D. Smith, 80, Spring Valley, died Thursday at Kaiser Hospital, San Diego, Calif.
He was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Defiance County's Noble Township, the son of Charles and Iva (Lourash) Smith. In 1952, he married Rosealice Loring, who survives. He graduated from Glendale Community College and worked at Jet Propulsion Laboratories, Pasadena, as a technician on the space program during its early development. He was a member of Covenant Church, Pasadena, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, stationed in Panama.
Also surviving are a son, Jared, Glendale, Calif.; two sisters, Teresa Ziegler of Defiance and Marjorie Seigneur, Stryker.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Charles Eugene.
Services will be held at Mount Miguel Covenant Village, Spring Valley. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale.
Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association.

Caroline Froelich
Caroline C. Froelich, 97, Defiance, died at 3:10 a.m. today in Laurels of Defiance. Among survivors are a son, Gerald, Defiance; three daughters, Alice Shortridge of Toledo, Mrs. Kenneth (Alberta) Kwiatkowski of Maumee and Mrs. Thomas (Kathryn) Donley, Defiance. Arrangements are pending at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home.

Carl Meyers
DESHLER - Carl Robert Meyers, 81, Deshler, died Wednesday evening in Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green.
He was born Nov. 18, 1919, in Custar, the son of George and Edna (Johnston) Meyers. In 1944, he married Bonna Johnson, who survives. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a car salesman, managed National Memorial Stone Co. in Findlay and Defiance Memorial, Bowling Green. He also was a clerk in Weston Post Office from 1982 until his retirement in 1987 and a member of Grand Rapids VFW Post 4984, West Lodge F&AM 560, Zenobia Shrine and Scottish Rite Valley, Toledo.
Also surviving are two sons, John of Nipomo, Calif., and James, North Baltimore; three daughters, Mrs. Eric (Carol) Donaldson of Whitehouse, Mrs. Richard (Carla) Carl of Standish, Mich., and Deb Diem, Deshler; and 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, George Jr., Donald and Keith; and a sister, Ruth.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Wright Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Ralph Clink officiating. Burial will be in Milton Township Cemetery, Custar, with military services conducted by VFW Post 4984. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.

Sadie Acus
BRYAN - Sadie I. Acus, 86, Bryan, died Thursday at her home.
She was born Jan. 15, 1914, in Bryan, the daughter of Charles and Goldie (Hutchinson) Hire. She married Winfield Acus, who died in 1970. She was a secretary at Newcomer, Shaffer and Spangler in Bryan and a member of Lick Creek Church of the Brethren, Bryan, and its Women's Fellowship. She was a member of Bryan High School Music Boosters from 1952-1967 and Williams County Historical Society.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Sue) Miller, Toledo; a son, David, Tecumseh, Mich.; and eight grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were twin brothers, Denver and Dennis Hire.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Rice Funeral Home, Bryan, with Rev. Jim Yaussy Albright officiating. Burial will be in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Bryan Area Foundation.
