Melvin Kinder
MALINTA - Melvin Milford (Fat) Kinder, 81, Malinta, died Tuesday afternoon in Oak Grove Quality Care Center, Deshler.
He was born April 11, 1919, in Malinta, the son of David and Dora (Shank) Kinder. In 1951, he married Paulajean Zenz, who survives. He was a farmer and a lineman for ADS, Napoleon, for 10 years.
Also surviving are five sons, Milford of McClure, Marvin and Milton, both of Napoleon, Mark of Liberty Center and Martin, Malinta; and 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were eight brothers, Henry, David, Daniel, Dick, Arthur, Alfred, Richard and Edda; and five sisters, Pholbe Thomas, Goldie Willford, Ida Briener, Edna Watson and his twin, Mildred.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, with Rev. David Klappenbach officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.

Hazel Overbaugh
PAULDING - Hazel Elizabeth Overbaugh, 78, Paulding, died at 5:47 a.m. Tuesday in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born May 15, 1922, in Jackson County, W.Va., the daughter of Foran and Sarah (Hall) Harpold. In 1950, she married Lester Overbaugh, who died in 1983. She was a registered nurse and worked in many area health care facilities, retiring in 1987.
Surviving are a son, Robert, Paulding; five daughters, Mrs. David (Paula) Camper of Renville, Minn., Mrs. Fred (Ann) McClaren of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Richard (Joan) Nichols of Paulding and Mrs. Michael (Susan) Kolb and Jane, both of Defiance; a sister, Sarah Goll, Bryan; a brother, James Harpold, Marion, Ind.; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Jeannie; three brothers, Robert, John and William Harpold; and two sisters, Helen Hoffman and Mary Harpold.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with Rev. Keith Sarver officiating. Burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery, Pittsfield, Mass., at a later date. Visitation will be after noon Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to Fritz House, 451 McDonald Pike, Paulding 45879.

Evelyn Schlosser
BRYAN - Evelyn L. Schlosser, 72, Bryan, died Monday in Hillside Country Living, Bryan.
She was born Feb. 13, 1928, in Defiance County's Mark Township, the daughter of Dietrich and Emma (Fralcer) Witte. In 1951, she married Merle Schlosser, who died in 1993. She was a cafeteria worker for 25 years in Bryan City Schools and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bryan.
Surviving are four sons, Jody, Jeff, Jim and Jan, all of Bryan; and two grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were seven brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church with Rev. Richard Buchsteiner officiating. Burial will be in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Rice Funeral Home, Bryan.
Preferred memorials are to the church.

Caroline Gilmer
VANDALIA - Caroline M. (Evans) Gilmer, 88, Vandalia, died Monday in Mercy Sienna Woods, Dayton.
She was born July 27, 1912, in Vandalia, the daughter of Frank and Theresa (Kastner) Beeson. She married Ernest Evans, who died in 1970. She then married James Gilmer, who survives. She was a retired teacher and member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia.
Also surviving are two sons, Thomas Evans of Smithfield, Va., and Joseph Evans, Vandalia; two daughters, Mary Jo Smith of Tipp City and Margaret Smathers of Virginia; three brothers, Roscoe, George and Dick Beeson; three sisters, Betty McCall, Peggy Holsapple and Margaret Meyers; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the church with Rev. Frank Keferl officiating. Burial will be in Polk Grove Cemetery, Vandalia. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Morton and Whetstone Funeral Home, Vandalia.

Gerald Darr
EDON - Gerald (Jerry) A. Darr, 79, Edon, died at 9:28 a.m. Tuesday in Community Hospitals of Williams County-Montpelier.
He was born March 31, 1921, in Edon, the son of Charles and Letha (Ricketts) Darr. In 1941, he married Naomi Hootman, who survives. He was co-owner of Edon Hardware for 32 years, a former chief of the Edon Volunteer Fire Department, served in various positions for the village and was grand marshall of the Edon Daze Parade in 1989. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Edon American Legion Post 662 and Edon F&AM Lodge 464.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Van (Linda) Gehl of Auburn, Ind., and Mrs. Fred (Carol) Moore, Defiance; a son, Thomas, Dublin; a sister, Mrs. Weldon (Helen) Starr, Edon; and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Ila Disbro and Susanna Willibey.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Krill Funeral Home, Edon, with Rev. Ronald Miller officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, with military rites accorded by Edon American Legion Post 662. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday with a Masonic services by F&AM Lodge 464 at 8:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.

Evelyn Onstott
BRYAN - Evelyn D. Onstott, 83, Bryan, died Tuesday morning at Dilworth Center, Montpelier.
She was born Feb. 15, 1917, in Williams Center, the daughter of William and Beulah (Fetters) Miller. She was a waitress in Kaufman's Restaurant, Bryan, and retired from Dutch Boy Doughnuts, Denver.
Surviving are two daughters, Judith Bowers of Stryker and Dennie Jo Yates, Aurora, Colo.; a son, Mitchel, Denver; and 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Preceding her in death were a former husband, Harvey Onstott; a son, Charles; a daughter, Sharon Peters; a sister, Selma Jones; and a brother, R.T. Miller.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Rice Funeral Home, Bryan. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. today.
Preferred memorials are to Dilworth Center, Montpelier.

Lavinia Ebersole
FORT WAYNE - Lavinia R. Ebersole, 89, Fort Wayne, died Thursday at Golden Years Homestead, Fort Wayne.
She was born June 14, 1911, in Plymouth Pa., the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Lloyd) Williams. She married Herman Ebersole, who died in 1990. She graduated from Fort Wayne Bible College in 1932 and was a bookkeeper for Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Co. for 23 years, retiring in 1976. She and her husband sang with Gospel Messengers and participated with "Back Home Hour" and "Amazing Grace Bible Hour." She was a member of the choir and president of Missionary Society at Fort Wayne Gospel Temple.
Surviving are a daughter, Shari Sousley, Fort Wayne; two stepsons, Thomas Buuck of Carlsbad, Calif., and Bill Buuck, El Segundo, Calif.; two stepsisters, Vera Hayden of Fort Wayne and Lillian Niner, Maumee; and a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Philip; and a sister, Elinor Buuck.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday in Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren, Fort Wayne, with Revs. Joel Kline and Kerry Bowman officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne.
Preferred memorials are to Fort Wayne Rescue Mission-Charis House.

Henry Frost
Henry (Dick) D. Frost, 76, Defiance, died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Defiance, the son of Henry and Fannie (Dickman) Frost. In 1988, he married Thelma Schomburg, who survives. He was a millwright for 35 years at GM Powertrain, retiring in 1996, and a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II. He was a life member of VFW 3360 and First Baptist Church.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Mary) Fluechtling of Sterling, Ill., and Kay, Defiance; a son, Kenneth, Defiance; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Victor (Mary) Geckle of Continental and Mrs. Ron (Deborah) Rangel and Mrs. Mark (Janet) Bakle, both of Defiance; two stepsons, Steven Richardson of Spotsville, Pa., and John Richardson, Ellewood, Ga.; two brothers, Clarence of Continental and Lester, Los Angeles; a sister, Mary Jane Salisbury, Antwerp; and six grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, and five great-stepgrandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Raymond and Herb.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the church with Rev. Scott Moffat officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens with military rites accorded by VFW Post 3360. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Monday and from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.
