Frank Wise III
Frank Douglas "Dougie" Wise, III, 34, of S. Marshall Street, Benwood, died Friday, March 28, 2003, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born Oct. 5, 1968 in Oakland, Maryland, the son of the Rev. Frank Wise and Deloris "Kay" Friel Wise. He was an Electrician and a member of the Frank Wise Evangelist Church Association.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank T. Wise, Sr. and Cora Wise; maternal grandparents, Oscar and Pauline Friel; and three cousins, Janet Angius, Chance Durbin and Penny Swecker.
Surviving in addition to his parents, are four children, Ashley R. Wise, Kayla M. Wise, Leah R. Wise and Frank Jordan Douglas Wise IV; a sister, Melissa P. Wise of Benwood; a brother, Robert F. Wise of Alberta Canada; his previous wife, Lisa L. Wise; his fiancee', Christina Huffman of Benwood and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2003, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, April 1, 2003, with the Rev. Frank Wise officiating. Interment will be in Parkview Memorial Gardens, Wheeling.
David Watkins
David Henry Watkins, a ten year resident of Meadowbrook, Pa. and formerly of Wheeling, W.Va., died at Chandler Hall in Newtown, Pa. on March 26, 2003. He was 99 and the husband of the late May Gibb Watkins for 49 years until her death in 1982. Born in Wheeling, W.Va., he was the son of the late David George and Ann Gray Watkins.
Mr. Watkins graduated from Wheeling High School in 1922 where he excelled in athletics. He helped lead the baseball team to the state championship and was named to the 1922 ALL West Virginia Basketball team. Shortly after high school graduation, Mr. Watkins began his 40 year accounting career with Wheeling Steel. He retired in 1962. In 1944, he co-founded Watkins and Trott, Wheeling's leading greeting card and gift store, which began as a stationery store, on Market Street in downtown Wheeling. Mr. Watkins with his co-founder and nephew, Albert Trott, gambled on a Hallmark Card sales representative's dream of specialty greeting card store. Watkins and Trott became the world's first Hallmark Card Shop. Wheeling residents may remember him best as the friendly, white haired gentleman behind the counter.
Mr. Watkins was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry, Ohio since 1933. He served as a Deacon, Trustee, Treasurer and Superintendent of Sunday School.
He was active in a number of Ohio Valley Masonic Lodges. He was Past Master of Ohio City Lodge No. 486 in Martins Ferry and Osiris Temple and Royal Order of Jesters in Wheeling, W.Va.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann and her husband Robert Kramer of Sarasota, Fla. and Judith G. and her husband John Frazier of Meadowbrook, Pa.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on May 9, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Martins Ferry, 400 Walnut Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.

Dorothy Samol
Dorothy E. Stubock Samol, 77, of N. Front Street, Wheeling, W. Va., died Thursday, March 27, 2003 in Wheeling Hospital.
Dorothy was born May 10, 1925 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of the late Albert J. and Bertha Geimer Stubock.
She was a homemaker, a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling; Wheeling Hospital Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters and the Fine Arts Guild & Thursday Music Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Samol in 2002; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Sullivan and Margaret Ann Gosney; two nieces, Mary K. Samol and Barbara Jean Brown and a nephew, Martin Samol.
Surviving are her two sons, Robert J. Samol and Thomas C. Samol and his wife Anne, all of Wheeling; two sisters, Ruth C. Dudzik of Martins Ferry, Ohio and Lillian A. Sommers of Colerain; three grandchildren, Michele Samol and her fiance' Steve Hardy of Streetsboro, Ohio and Grant and Brian Samol of Wheeling and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11 a.m., on Monday, March 31, 2003 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling, with the Rev. Patrick Condron as celebrant. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the Arthritis National Research Foundation in memory of Dorothy Samol.
Irene Hoelzer
Mary Irene Burns Hoelzer, 67, of Bethesda, Ohio, died Friday, March 28, 2003 at Firelands Medical Center, Sandusky, Ohio. She was born March 8, 1936 in Bethesda, a daughter of the late Granville Burns and Olive Simpson Burns.
Mary Irene was a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church, a retired teacher, serving the area students for over 35 years. She retired from the Belmont Harrison Career Center, and was a member of several Professional Education Associations.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are several cousins, and many special friends.
Friends will be received Monday, 11 a.m., until time of service at 1 p.m., at Kelly- Kemp - Braido Funeral Home, 322 North Main St., Bethesda, with Rev. Doug Lynn officiating. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Helen Koch
Helen R. Cook Koch, 82, of National Road, Bridgeport, Ohio, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003 in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W.Va.
Helen was born Feb. 18, 1921 at Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Ballog Cook.
She was a member of the First Christian Church at Martins Ferry, and the Friendly League Bowling Team of the Martins Ferry Lanes.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Koch, Jr. on March 26, 1992; her brother Joseph Cook; and her two sisters, Margaret Burch and Mae Zlate.
Helen is survived by several nieces and nephews including, Teresa Ann Venham of Shadyside, Ohio, Carol Sue Fawcett of Carrollton, Ohio, Roxie Lee Thompson of Dennison, Ohio, Sharon Nowinski of Euchlid, Ohio; her two sisters-in-law, Pat Soltis of Bridgeport, Doris Lee Stilwell of Rayland, Ohio; many great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio on Friday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 pm and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 12 Noon with Mr. Rod Kasler officiating. Interment will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Blaine, Ohio.

Mary E. Myles
Mary E. Myles, 83, of Boca Raton, Fla., passed away on Aug. 2, 2003, formerly of Provident, Ohio.
Surviving are her daughters, Jacqueline and Angela; son, John Richard; granddaughters, Lindsey, Holly, Morgan, and Casten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003 at Ascension Catholic Church, Boca Raton, Fla. entombment at Boca Raton Mausoleum.
Mrs. Myles was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family.

Donald Beatty
Donald C. Beatty, 54, of Moundsville, W. Va., died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003 at home. He was born April 20, 1949 in Wheeling, W. Va.,
He was an employee with Valley National Gases, Wheeling; a Christian by faith; and a veteran of the US Air Force having served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra K. Beatty on Jan. 27, 2003; his father, Donald H. Beatty.
Surviving are his mother, Lalla J. Beatty of Shadyside, Ohio; four sisters, Donna J. Willis and her husband, John and Doris E. Clegg and her husband, Charles, all of Columbus, Ohio, Diane L. Millard and her husband, Larry of Charleston, S. C. and Denise M. Fromhart and her husband, Brad of Moundsville; a brother, Daniel W. Beatty and his wife, Sorida, of Bozrah, Conn.; a special cousin, Walter J. Beatty and his wife, Rebecca, of Lancaster, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends received 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2003 with Elder Chester H. Dobbs officiating. Interment in Park View Memorial Gardens, Wheeling.

Nellie Grace Richards
Nellie Grace Collins Richards, 86, of Nashville, Tennessee, formerly of St. Clairsville, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 in NHC Nursing Home, Murfreesboro, Tenn. She was born on July 17, 1917 at Beallsville, Ohio, daughter of the late Levi A. and Lenora Smith Mellott.
She was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church, St. Clairsville and a member of the Bridgeport Chapter #452, Order of Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James G. Collins; and her second husband, former St. Clairsville City Councilman, William R. Richards; a sister, Frances Rice and a brother, George Mellott.
Nellie is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Tom Fleeman, Nancy J. Collins of Nashville, Tenn., and Barbara Richards Gorza of St. Clairsville; a son, Russell L. Richards of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; a sister, Elizabeth G. Greenhalgh of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 12 great - grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral home in St. Clairsville on Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2003 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Laurie Armstrong, officiating. Burial will follow in Clarington Cemetery, Clarington, Ohio.
