Olga V. Benich
Wednesday, January 28th, 2004
Olga V. Benich, 88, St. Rt. 307 East, Jefferson, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening at the Jefferson Medical Associates (Jefferson Geriatric Center).
She was born July 3, 1915 in Bessemer, Pa., the daughter of Kuzma & Amelia (Percic) Vlah and has been a resident of the Jefferson area since 1954, coming from Cleveland. Mrs. Benich was married to George Benich, Jr. on September 16, 1933 in New Castle, Pa. She worked several years in the Cleveland area, both at the Gabriel Co. and Wertheim’s Restaurant. Mrs. Benich was a member of the Golden Ager’s at the Jefferson Sr. Center.
Survivors include two children, Richard F. (Esther L.) Benich of Dorset Twp. & Waneeta J. (Alan R.) Iammarino of Parma Hts., six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Evelyn Basilone of Euclid.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Benich, Jr. in 1974, a sister, Annie Vlah as an infant and two brothters, Walter & Frank Vlah
Graveside services will be held at the mausoleum chapel at Knollwood Cemetery on SOM Center Rd. in Mayfield Hts., Friday at 11:00 A. M., with the Rev. Dale Epple of the Dorset United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Knollwood. No visitation will be held.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Assoc., P. O. Box 182039, Dept. 013, Columbus, Ohio 43218, envelopes will also be available at the service on Saturday. The Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is handling arrangements.

Margaret L. "Peggy" Kobella
Tuesday, January 27th, 2004
Margaret L. “Peggy” Kobella, 89, formerly of E. Jefferson St. and a resident at Jefferson Medical Associated, died Sunday afternoon at he Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.
She was born July 12, 1914 in New York, N. Y., the daughter of Samuel & Lucille (Kopalko) Pitonak and has been a Jefferson resident since 1949, coming from Strongsville. She was married to John A. “Jack” Kobella on June 17, 1933 at St. Gwendolyn’s Church in Cleveland.
Mrs. Kobella was a member of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church and enjoyed baking, cooking and crocheting.
Survivors include four children, Robert J. Kobella of Jefferson, twin daughters, Donna Mae L. Prindle of Orwell and Diana Margaret E. Jackson of Jefferson and Larry D. Kobella of Jefferson, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John “Jack” Kobella in 1988, a granddaughter, Peggy Elizabeth Kobella, a sister, Elsie and brothers, Charles & Joseph.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson S.t, Jefferson, with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Wassie of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church officiating. Burial of ashes will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Cremation took place at the Family Care Group Cremation Center.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10-11 A. M. at the funeral home. Contributions may be directed to the family in care of Larry D. Kobella, 366 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.

Raymond H. Vote
Sunday, January 25th, 2004
Raymond H. Vote, 84, formerly of Clay St. in Jefferson and currently of Plymouth Ridge Rd. in Sheffield Twp., died Friday afternoon at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.
He was born January 16, 1920 in North Dakota, the son of Clark & Ida (Foreman) Vote and has lived most of his life in the Jefferson area. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in World War II. Mr. Vote was a self-employed laborer that also loved tinkering with cars.
Survivors include a daughter, Margretta Brundage of Ashtabula, nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty (Lyons) Vote and a daughter, Dorris Wick.
Cremation will take place at the Family Care Group Cremation Center with the burial of ashes to take place at a later date to be announced in Oakdale Cemetery. No additional services or calling hours will be held.
The Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is handling arrangements.

Darrell Hagerman
Wednesday, January 21st, 2004
Darrell Hagerman, 56, Washington Blvd., Ashtabula, died Tuesday afternoon in the Hospice Unit at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.
He was born September 21, 1947 in Oakwood, Va., the son of Grant & Eilleen (Puckett) Hagerman and has lived between Ashtabula and Oakwood, Va. over the past 34 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was formerly employed with Dominio Logistics.
He was a member of the Army-Navy Club and enjoyed reading and spending time with his granddaughter, Gianni and his dog.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Hagerman of Ashtabula, his granddaughter, Gianni Hagerman, three brothers, Glenn Hagerman of Florida and Doug & Allen Hagerman, both of Virginia, three sisters, Faye Hagerman of Virginia and Barbara Sexton and Peggy Scott, both of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grant & Eileen Hagerman and a daughter, Melanie Sue Hagerman in 1975.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P. M. Saturday at the Buchanan Co. Funeral Home, Keen Mountain, Va., with his brother, Glenn Hagerman leading the services. Burial will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool, Va.
Calling hours will be held at the Buchanan Co. Funeral Home on Friday from 6-9 P. M. Contributions may be directed to the family, in care of Elizabeth Hagerman, 6024 Washington Blvd., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004. The Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is handling all local arrangements.

Dorothy P. Martin
Wednesday, March 31st, 2004
Dorothy P. Martin, 89, E. Cedar St., Jefferson, died Monday evening at the Jefferson Medical Associates (Jefferson Geriatric Center) where she has resided the past five months.
She was born August 22, 1914 in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Paul R. & Alice (Isaacson) Martin and has been a Jefferson resident most of her life. She was a 1932 graduate of Jefferson High School. She and her twin sister, Eleanor, owned and operated The Jordon Store in Jefferson for more than 50 years, retiring in 1989.
She is a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, was a painter and artist, loved flower gardening, walking, being in the sunshine, her cat and following the Cleveland Indians.
Survivors include six sisters and brothers, Frances Holzheimer of W. Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., Mildred Irby of Jefferson, June Martin of Lakewood, John Martin of Bellevue, Neb., Dewayne Martin of Hambden Twp. & James Martin of Wheaton, Ill. & several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Edna Mae Martin, Eleanor Corbett, Marianne Owsley and Jean Childs and a brother, George Martin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 A. M. at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Meredith Coleman and Gordon Emerson, lay pastor, both of the Jefferson United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 – 10:30 A. M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jefferson United Methodist Church Memoria Fund, 125 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.

Eleanor S. Hayford
Monday, March 29th, 2004
Eleanor S. Hayford, 77, St. Rt. 46 South, Lenox Twp., died Monday morning at the home of her daughter in Lenox Twp., surrounded by her loving family.
She was born September 29, 1926 in Lakota, N. D., the daughter of John & Selma (Maki) Murto and has lived in the Jefferson area most of her life, coming from North Dakota.
She is a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, former member of the Lenox Historical Society, loved her flower gardens, enjoyed her golf cart rides around the many beautiful acres on the Hayford farm and loved being with her family and helping with the Saturday night family dinners.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley W. Hayford, whom she married on June 13, 1946 in Rock Creek, two daughters, Christine E. (Paul) Martello & Robin R. Sullivan, both of Lenox Twp., three grandchildren, Maegan Asher, Heather Gray & Jon Hayford and a brother, Lauri Murto of Westerville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Jon W. & Jerry L. Hayford.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 P. M. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 89 E. Satin St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Frederick Grimm of the church officiating. Burial will be in Rays Corners Cemetery, Lenox Twp.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 1-2 P. M. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, P. O. Box 2010, Ashtabula, Ohio 44005-2010, envelopes will also be at the church.
The Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is handling the arrangements.

Jennie Rennick Weaver
Monday, March 29th, 2004
Jennie Rennick Weaver, 93, St. Rt. 307 West, Jefferson, died Monday afternoon at the Jefferson Medical Associates (Jefferson Geraitric Center) where she had been a resident the past seven years.
She was born December 11, 1910 in Ashtabula, the daughter of William J. & Mary (Patterson) She was a very active and supportive member of the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene where she was involved in the Missionary Society, was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher and was involved with other church groups. She was an avid gardener and a marvelous baker.
Survivors include a daughter, Verna J. Park of Niles, Ill., three grandchildren, Debra Bomcimino of Jefferson, Edward Park of Houston, Tex., & Jennifer LoGalbo of Barrington, Ill., 10 great-grandchildren, Steven, Shaina, Jonathan, Andrew, Elliott, Jordon, James, Joseph, Matthew and Natalie and an adopted son, James Onion of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Irving, a son, Vernon H. Weaver, four sisters, Ida Koch, Florence Applebee, Bessie Findlay & Etta Johnson and three brothers, William, James & Clarence Rennick.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P. M. on Friday at the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, 55 E. Satin St., Jefferson, with Pastor Richard Wright, associate pastor of the church officiating. Burial will be in Hickok Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6-8 P. M. at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson Medical Assoc. – A Wing Day Room, 222 E. Beech St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047, envelopes will be at the funeral home and the church.
