Dorothea Mathews
Sunday, November 28th, 2004
Dorothea Mathews, 87, formerly of E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, died Saturday evening at the Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she had been a resident the past three years.
She was born December 30, 1916 in Channing, Mich., the daughter of Walter & Anna B. (Lusnia) Broniszewski and has been a resident of Ashtabula Co. since 1955, living in Jefferson since 1969, coming from Milwaukee, Wis. She was married to Kenneth J. Mathews on February 19, 1955 at the Gesu Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wis.
Mrs. Mathews retired in 1978 from a secretary position at Grand River Academy after spending seven years there. She also worked several years in a clerical position in Milwaukee.
She is a member of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church. She enjoyed classical music, flower gardening and watching the birds.
Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law, Kenneth M. & Lisa A. Mathews of Jefferson, a grandson, Trent Michael Mathews and three nephews and a niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Anna, her step-father, Rufus Wantz, her husband, Kenneth in 1986, two sisters, Helen Peterson & Ardella Kuhn and a brother, Frank Broniszewski.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 P. M. at the Oakdale Cemetery in Jefferson, with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Wassie of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church officiating. No calling hours will be observed.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Calasanctius Church Memorial Fund, 32 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047. The Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is handling arrangements.

Douglas Gordon
Saturday, November 27th, 2004
DOUGLAS (DOUG) WILLIAM GORDON Candia, New Hampshire- Douglas W. Gordon, 33, of Deerfield Road, died Saturday, November 20,2004, at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Ravenna, Ohio on March 26, 1971, the son of Richard and Susan (Glosser) Gordon. Prior to his illness, Doug was employed by Easter Seals as the Director of Camp and Recreation Services.
On Tuesday November 16, 2004, Doug attended the Easter Seals annual meeting where he was given the President's Meritorious Award for Outstanding Service by an employee. Doug's gift of kindness, generosity and leadership were expressed by Larry Gammon, Easter Seals President: "Doug has touched and changed thousands of lives: staff, children with disabilities, parents, and other family members over the years. His impact on those children will last generations through Doug's 'under the radar' style, thousands of young scouts, siblings and kids with disabilities grow up and model for their kids that inclusion and acceptance in a natural way of life."
Family members besides his parents of Candia, NH, include his sister, Samantha Gordon of Washington, D.C., his paternal grandfather Herbert Gordon of Ashtabula, two foster brothers, Daniel and David Roy of Manchester, NH, his aunt Catherine Glosser of Northwood, NH, his uncles William (Bill) Glosser of Ashtabula, Richard Rowley of Austinburg, David Rowley of Ashtabula, cousins Kelly Glosser, Steven and Andy Rowley, Laura (Rowley) Neischel, and his great aunt Barbara (Bob) Reno, Conneaut. And special friends Alyssa Flynn and Ken Hogan.
Doug was preceded in death by his grandfather Wayne Glosser, grandmother Olive Gordon, his uncle Chris Glosser, and his maternal grandmother, Geraldine (Jerry) Glosser, who passed away on November 24, 2004.
A memorial service will be held for Douglas and his maternal grandmother, Geraldine (Jerry) Glosser, on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at 10:30 A. M. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 4901 Main Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio, with a luncheon following the service. Rev. Fred Grimm of St. Paul's Lutheran Church will officiate.
Burial of Douglas' ashes will be at 3:00 P. M., Wednesday in Oakdale Cemetery in Jefferson and burial of Geraldine's ashes will be at 1:00 P. M., Wednesday in Glenwood Cemetery in Conneaut.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Easter Seals, 555 Auburn St., Manchester, N. H. 03103, indicating on the memo line, "Douglas Gordon Scholarship Fund", where all donations will be used to provide future camping experiences for the disabled.
The Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson is handling arrangements.

Mary L. Brooks-Montique
Saturday, November 27th, 2004
Mary L. Brooks-Montique, 71, Brown Rd., Jefferson, died early Friday morning at the Jefferson Medical Associates (Jefferson Geriatric Center).
Locally, she is survived by a daughter, Mary Bunch of Denmark Twp. and several grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A. M. Thursday, December 2, 2004 at the Corbin Colonial Funeral Chapel, 5345 W. Madison St., Chicago, Ill. 60644. Burial will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Park, Ill.
The Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is in charge of local arrangements.

Geraldine R. Glosser
Wednesday, November 24th, 2004
Geraldine R. “Jerry” Glosser, 80 of Forest Dr. Ashtabula, died at her residence early Wednesday morning.
She was born September 7, 1924 in Conneaut, the daughter of Cyril & Catherine (Sheffler) Reno, and has lived in the area all of her life. She was married to Wayne G. Glosser on November 25, 1944 in Conneaut, where they lived until 1950 moving to Ashtabula.
Jerry graduated from Conneaut High School in 1942. She worked many places, car hopping for the Big Pig Drive-In for 3 years until her children where in school. She was a dental assistant for Dr. John Mumma, a vault teller for Farmers Bank and then a bookkeeper, secretary-treasurer for Wayne Glosser Co., Inc. She also became an independent Mary Kay consultant in 1981.
She enjoyed working for the St. Peters Episcopal Church where she was a co-chairman of Mary Margaret Guild,as head buzzard was the one that started the annual Thanksgiving Day dinners, and was the head of those dinners for many years, all with the help of many wonderful members of the church and community. She enjoyed her family, her home, and working in her yard and going to Las Vegas and working at the church.
Survivors include three children, Bill Glosser of Ashtabula Twp., Sue Gordon of Candia, N.H., Catherine Glosser of Northwood, N.H., one sister Barbara Reno of Conneaut, and two grandchildren, Samantha Gordon and Kelly Glosser.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne, a son, Chris Glosser of Conneaut, a grandson, Douglas Gordon of N.H. and sisters Jackie Rentschler and Jo Haas.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peters Episcopal Church with a luncheon following the service. Mother Barbara Johnson officiating. Burial of ashes of Jerry and Wayne will be at 1:00 P.M. at Glenwood cemetery in Conneaut.
At the request of the deceased, in lieu of flowers she ask that you do something special for someone you love or her family or Hospice of the Western Reserve, P.O. Box 2010, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.

Marjorie J. Lawrence
Wednesday, November 24th, 2004
Marjorie J. Lawrence, 80, of Jefferson, died early Wednesday morning at the Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born November 25, 1923 in Lenox the daughter of Ross & Ethel (Flickinger) Anspach and has lived in this area all of her life. She was married to Warren G. Lawrence on February 17, 1946 in Jefferson, Ohio.
She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she was very active. Her hobbies included sewing, needle point, reading and traveling.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Donald & Linda Lawrence of Jefferson, a brother, Donald A. Anspach of Chesterland, Ohio, three grandchildren, Sandy Pratt of Jefferson, Joni Hardin of Geneva and Eric Lawrence of Mentor, four great-grandchildren, Cierra & Noel Lawrence, Katie Pratt and Madelyn Kellogg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Warren G. in 2000, sisters, Eloise Brake and Maxine Smith .
A funeral service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 26th with calling hours from 4-5:00 P.M. preceding the service. The Rev. Bruce Larson, of the First Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery on Monday, the time to be determined later.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 2026 St. Rt. 45, Austinburg, Ohio 44010. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. All arrangements are being handled by the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio.

Chase Alexander Marioth
Monday, November 22nd, 2004
Chase Alexander Marioth, two-month-old infant son of Mark A. & Jenny M. (Huntington) Marioth of Griggs Rd., Sheffield Twp., died unexpectedly early Sunday morning in route to the hospital in Cleveland. Chase was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
Chase is survived by his parents, Mark, whom is serving with the U. S. Navy at Great Lakes, Ill. & Jenny, a sister, Haylee Jade Marioth, his grandparents, Joseph & Maria (Tomburello) Huntington of Sheffield Twp., his step-grandfather, Dean Butler of Ashtbula, two uncles and four aunts, Joey Huntington & Sarah Typinski, both of Ashtabula, Justina Kiel & Jesse Hintington, both of Sheffield Twp. & Cahterine Higgins and Christine Hutchinson, both of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Marioth & Deborah Butler and an uncle, Kevin Marioth.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fr. Stephen Wassie of St. Andrews Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 6-8 P. M. and on Saturday from 10-11 A. M. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, in care of Mark & Jenny Marioth, 2364 Griggs Rd., Jefferson, Ohio 44047, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.

Jean E. Bradley
Sunday, November 21st, 2004
Jean E. Bradley, 79, Guest Rd., New Lyme Twp., died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center after being admitted on Friday evening.
She was born August 24, 1925 in Cleveland, the daughter of Carl J. & Nina S. (Gessert) Probeck and has been a resident of New Lyme Twp. the past 55 years, coming from Cleveland. She was married to Franklin E. Bradley on June 15, 1946 in Cleveland.
Mrs. Bradley attended the Pymatuning Community Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, traveling, watching television, especially movies, shopping and being with her family.
Survivors include twelve children, Carl E. Bradley of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Elizabeth M. Bradley of Ashtabula, Bonnie M. Wolfgang of Jefferson, Susan C. Eaton & Linette A. Bonds, both of Ashtabula, Russell K. Bradley of Andover, Pamela S. Wilson of Ashtabula, twins, Janet L. Berrier of Rome Twp. & Joanne L. Bradley of Williamsfield Twp., William H. Bradley, Florence V. Bean & Franklin D. Bradley, all of New Lyme Twp., 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Franklin in 1984 and a daughter, Nina Jean Bradley in infancy in 1955.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 A. M. at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Pastor Steven Mickels of the Pymatuning Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery, New Lyme Twp.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 7-9 P. M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, in care of Janet Berrier, 1610 Dodgeville Rd., Rome, Ohio 44085, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.
