Annabelle M. Phillips
Tuesday, April 19th, 2005
Annabelle M. Phillips, 89, a resident of The Sanctuary in Geneva, went to be with the Lord Monday afternoon at the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born May 23, 1915 in Geneva, the daughter of Henry W. & Anna (Keehl) Jeppe and has been an Ashtabula Co. resident all of her life, living in Geneva most of those years. She was married to Lester C. Phillips on December 15, 1944 in Eggertsville, NY. Mrs. Phillips worked for several years as clerical/payroll personnel for both the Champion Hardware in Geneva and Carlisle’s Department Store in Ashtabula for 13 years, retiring in 1975.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church and was always active with the church she belonged to. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, crafts, games and playing cards. She had a great sense of humor. Her dearest enjoyment was being with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Lester C. Phillips of Jefferson, two children, Carole A. Wright of Jefferson and Donald C. Phillips of Lakewood, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a brother, Irvin Jeppe of Baton Rouge, LA and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Anna, a son, Gary B. Graper in 1990, a sister, Marie Welton, five brothers, Alvin, Harold, Henry, Gerald & Edward Jeppe and a grandson, Tommy Wright, II.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P. M. Friday at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Meredith Coleman & Gordon Emerson, lay pastor, both of the Jefferson United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6-8 P. M. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Jefferson United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 125 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, OH 44047, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.

Francis E. McLaughlin
Saturday, April 16th, 2005
Francis E. McLaughlin, 62, Susan Dr., Jefferson, died Friday afternoon at his residence following a short illness.
He was born June 20, 1942 in Addison, Ohio, the son of Clarence N. & Charlotte F. (Stover) McLaughlin and has lived in Ashtabula Co. since 1957, coming from southern Ohio. Mr. McLaughlin worked for 11 years at Brown Memorial Hospital in Conneaut and for three years at Jefferson Medical Associates.
He was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, the Jefferson Grange, I. O. O. F. in Conneaut and a former member of the Ashtabula Deaf Club, he crocheted and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
Survivors include his mother, Charlotte F. Reeder in Jefferson, a daughter, Lee Ann Dixon in Phoenix, AR, three brothers and two sisters, Homer Reeder, Jr. in Germany, Brad Lewis in Mentor, Barbara Herman in Brunswick, Ronald Reeder in Indiana and Beverly Prebble in Jefferson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence McLaughlin, two step-fathers, Homer Reeder, Sr. & Bernald Lewis and a brother, Paul Reeder.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P. M. Monday at the Fleming Funeral Home, Inc., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Meredith Coleman of the Jefferson United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Dorset Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Sunday (4/17/05) from 4-6 P. M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, c/o Charlotte Reeder, 232 Susan Dr., Jefferson, Ohio 44047, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.

James M. Case
Wednesday, April 13th, 2005
JEFFERSON – Jim M. Case, 82, died Tuesday April 12, 2005 in the Hospice Unit of the Ashtabula Co. Medical Center.
He was born in Shreve, Ohio on Feb. 13, 1923 the son of Marion C. and Zella M. (Tate) Case.
He graduated from Shreve High School in 1941. On Aug. 27, 1942 he married Freda Marie Fischer in Wooster, Ohio. He served as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He moved with his family to Jefferson in 1948, leaving their home in Wooster to accept a job as a cattle breeder with the Central Ohio Breeders Assoc. In 1960 he became a real estate broker and worked for the Hillyer Realty Co. until he started his own company in 1963 that he named Old Reserve Realty. He was a state licensed real estate broker and auctioneer. He was a dedicated member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
A very active and dedicated member of the community he was a member of the Ashtabula Co. Farm Bureau; a 58 year member, past president and Paul Harris Award recipient with the Jefferson Rotary He was named Citizen of the Year in Jefferson in 1968 and later given a Lifetime Service Award. He was a member and past president of the Ashtabula Co. Board of Realtors; he was a member and past president of the Jefferson Area school board for 9 years; he was a member of the Ashtabula Co. Fair Board for over 20 years and past president. He was an active advisor with the Ashtabula 4H Club, serving as the auctioneer for the County Fair livestock auction for over 25 years and announced many activities over the years at the fair. He was a 57 year member of the Jefferson Grange; a 55 year member of the Tuscan Masonic Lodge #342 in Jefferson; a member and past president of the Ashtabula Co. Development Corp; he was a past member of the Ashtabula Co. 503 Board of Directors; he was a member of Ducks Unlimited and had done many auctions on their behalf. As an avid horseman he organized and announced hundreds of horse shows in the county, northern Ohio and in Pennsylvania.
As a loving and dedicated family man he and his family enjoyed horseback riding and attending horse shows. He loved the holidays and all family gatherings. His most precious times were those spent with his granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Freda M. Case; his daughter Carol L. Fulwiler; his granddaughters Kirsten (Ken) Boczar and Kristina Fulwiler; great-grandsons Garrett and Reid Boczar, all of Jefferson, as well as a brother John of Wooster and a son-in-law Bill Reinhart of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Cheryl Reinhart and son-in-law Ronald Fulwiler, both in 1997 as well as a brother Harold in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday April 16th at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 41 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson with Rev. Bruce Larson officiating the services.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at Fleming Funeral Home, Inc. 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. The Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service on Friday evening at 7:45p.m. in the funeral home. An additional calling hour will be held on Saturday from noon to 1 PM at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ, Hospice of the Western Reserve or to the Ashtabula Co. 4H. Jeanne C. Tsai
Wednesday, April 13th, 2005
JEFFERSON – Jeanne Corbett Tsai, 53, died unexpectedly at her home Monday April 11, 2005 following a brief illness.
She was born in Cleveland on Aug. 29, 1951 the daughter of Orrie and Irene (Logue) Corbett.
A lifetime resident, she was a dedicated and active member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson. She also served as the Treasure of the Ashtabula Baptist Association. She was a graduate of Judson College and received a bachelors at Kent State Ashtabula Branch and had done some masters work at Cleveland State University.
She enjoyed her volunteer work, including her time visiting with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed her little grandson.
She is survived by her son Taylor, daughter-in-law Shari and grandson Logan, all of Ashtabula; her former husband and close friend C.S. Tsai of Taiwan; her brother James (Sharon) Cleveland; and her niece and nephew Christine and Christopher Corbett.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her Godfather Louis R.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 am in the First Baptist Church of Jefferson with the Rev. Dr. William Offutt officiating. Burial will follow in Knollwood Cemetery, Mayfield Hts., Oh.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 in the Fleming Funeral Home 49 W. Jefferson St. Jefferson. There will also be one additional calling hour held from 10 to 11 on Friday at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to the church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Arvilla C. Fink
Friday, May 12th, 2006
Arvilla C. Fink, 85, long time resident of Denmark Twp., died early Wednesday morning, May 10, 2006.
She was born on October 2, 1920, in Saybrook, Ohio, the daughter of Joy Edwin Butler and Charlotte Justine (DeWalt) Butler. She attended Saybrook Elementary School and graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1939. She was married to Frank Edwin Fink on February 3, 1940, in Saybrook, Ohio. Her family was her love. She was a dedicated wife and mother.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Joyce (Norm) Michaud of Bakersfield, Ca. and Mary Ann (Ken) Lehto of Plymouth Twp., and two sons, Edwin Frank (Beverly) Fink of Conneaut, and Robert James Fink of Denmark Twp, one sister, Charlotte Ann(Bill) Johnson of Livingston, Texas, eight grandchildren, Trent & Craig Michaud, Sharon Lehto and Karen Clement, Janice, Tim, Randy and Roberta Fink; eight great-grandchildren and two nieces, Rebecca Snyder & Elizabeth (Derek) Abbott both of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Frank of 56 years in 1995. Together they were business owners of Frank Fink Implement & Tractor Sales and numerous other enterprises.
A visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5-8 P.M. at the Jefferson Home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 at the funeral home with the Rev. Aletta Burkholder of the Bulah Calvary United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Gageville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Beulah Calvary United Methodist Church, 2070 St. Rt. 193, Jefferson, Ohio or to the Salvation Army, 4631 Main Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio.

Eleanor Burroughs
Monday, May 8th, 2006
Eleanor Hubbard Burroughs, 92 of Garrison Rd. Plymouth Twp died Sunday (May 7th) at her home. She was born in Ashtabula on November 1, 1913 the daughter of William B. and Elizabeth (Mahan) Hubbard and has been a lifetime area resident.
She was a 1931 graduate of Ashtabula High School and a 1936 graduate of Western College of Women in Oxford, Ohio.
Prior to marrying Shepard Allen Burroughs in 1940, she worked as a librarian at West Ave and Columbus Av. Jr. High Schools and later did volunteer service at Happy Hearts School and at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and a member of the Mary Margaret Guild of the church.
Surviving her are her children, Shelly Soderstrom, Brad Burroughs and Lisa (Tom) Betras all of Ashtabula; her granddaughter, Kim (Jeff) Fenton and her great grandson Dylan Fenton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shepard; her parents and by two sisters, Elizabeth & Ruth.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave. Ashtabula or to St. Peters Episcopal Church, 4901 Main Ave. Ashtabula.
The Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, Inc. 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula, Ohio is in charge of arrangements.
