Dale E. Paxson 83 formerly of North Kingsville died August 3rd at the Florida Hospital Waterman in Taveras, Florida. He was born Feb. 26, 1923 in East Palestine, Ohio the son of Claude Amos and Bessie (Welch) McKissick.
He was a veteran of the Army during World War 2.
He was employed with East Ohio Machinery in Alliance, Ohio and Lincoln Machine in Salem, Ohio as an Engineer until his retirement.
He is a member of the Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene and the Salem First Friends Church. He had been Perry Township Trustee near Salem, Ohio for 16 years and had also been involved with the Salem Little League.
Surviving him are his wife, Elizabeth A. McKenzie McCormick Paxson of Mt. Dora, Florida; a son, David (Debra) Paxson of North Kingsville, Ohio; a daughter, Dale Ann (David) Martig of Salem, Ohio; six grandchildren, Julie Martig of Salem, Crist (Yenere) Martig of Salem, Susan Martig of Chicago, Ill., Laura Martig of Loudonville, Ohio, Clint (Nancy) Paxson of North Kingsville and Shane (Kara) Paxson of Ada, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Kathy Phillips, Christian Martig and Anastasia Paxson of North Kingsville; a brother, Jess (Dorothy) Paxson of Salem; two step daughters, Carol (Dennis) Blackman of Eustis, Florida and Julie Neuls of Leesburg, Florida; four step grandchildren, Taylor, Sara, Amanda and Ben. He was preceded in death by his parents, his adoptive father, Jesse D. Paxson; his first wife, Annagean Booth Paxson on Dec. 30, 2000.
Funeral service will be Thursday (Aug. 10th) at 1:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Michael Legg of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service on at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Good Samaritan Fund of the Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene.

Marie I. Clutter
Thursday, August 3rd, 2006
Marie I Clutter, 96 of Eastlawn St. In Geneva died Tuesday (Aug. 1st) at Colonial Manor in Loudonville, Ohio. She was born August 15, 1909 in Hartsgrove, Ohio the daughter of Thomas and Ellen (Sommers) Carraher and has lived in the Geneva area most of her life.
She had been employed by the Du-All Plant in Geneva and Perfection Nipple in Madison. She enjoyed antiques, restoring furniture and collecting different items.
Surviving her are her children, Ellen Haigh of Green Springs, Ohio, Edward Clutter of Loudonville, Ohio, Richard Clutter of Independence, Mo. And Leora Gruber of Geneva thirty four grandchildren, sixty nine great grandchildren and thirty two great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leslie in 1980; a daughter, Sharon Pasqualone; sons, Russell Lee Clutter, James Clutter and Dale Clutter; a grandson, Joseph Gruber, two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be Saturday (August 5th) at 11:00 AM at the Geneva Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 323 South Broadway, Geneva with Deacon Edward Heinz of the Assumption Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Madison.
Calling hours will be Friday (Aug. 4th) from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Esther A. Maenpa
Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006
Esther A. (Johnson) Maenpa, 97 died Tuesday (Aug. 1st) at the Ashtabula County Medical Center after a short illness. She was born November 3, 1908 in Ashtabula the fifth of seven children of Carl and Christina (Olson) Johnson.
Esther was a 1927 graduate of Ashtabula High School and Ashtabula Business College. She was secretary for Snider Insurance Agency and legal secretary for Albert H. Pontius before hr marriage. She was a talented singer, she sang in several local choirs.
She married Francis I. Maenpa of Ashtabula Harbor on September 9, 1940. When their children started school, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Ashtabula General Hospital. Later she was secretary at Jackson and Washington Elementary schools in the Harbor where she worked until retirement in 1972. She was also one of the organizers of the Retarded Children’s Council, later to become Happy Hearts School. She has always been active in church work, both at Messiah Lutheran and First Grace Gospel churches.
She is survived by two children and their spouses, Kristina E. (John) Carpenter and Dr. Francis C. (Diane) Maenpa of Ashtabula and grandson Dr. Ryan R. (Amy) Maenpa of Springboro, Ohio; two sister-in-laws, Betty A. Johnson of Jefferson and V. Victoria Brady of Conneaut, several nieces and nephews and a cousin, Naima Nilsson in Trelleborg, Sweden. Her husband preceded her in death on April 8, 1977.
Funeral services will be Saturday (August 5th) at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Pastor David Adams of First Grace Gospel Church and Rev. Elizabeth Eaton of Messiah Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday (August 4th) from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Grace Gospel Church or to the Messiah Lutheran Church.

Lee E. Johnson
Sunday, July 30th, 2006
Lee E. Johnson, 67 of Linden Dr. Jefferson died Saturday (July 29th) at his home. He was born January 1, 1939 in Buckingham, Kentucky the son of Lewis and Dusty (Hall) Johnson and has lived in the Jefferson area for the past 35 year.
He was employed for Stone Container in Jefferson until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed camping, hunting, bingo and porker.
Surviving him are his wife Anna Sue (Hatfield) Johnson whom he married January 2, 1965; a daughter, Lisa Kehres of Jefferson; a son, Phil (Vickie) Johnson of Jefferson; six grandchildren, Josh, Jesse, Justin, Corey, Tyler and Jake; eight brothers and sisters, Estill (Theresa) Johnson of Kingsville, Bonnie (Merle) Graff of Ashtabula, Ava (Tommy) Spoor of Geneva, Mary Lou (Jim) McDowell of California, Brenda (Garry) Skaggs of Ashtabula, Shirley (Paul) Manis of Tennessee, Darlene (Paul) Gran of Ashtabula and Debbie Johnson of Cincinnati and his step mother, Vesta Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents,; sisters, Joy Hall, Naomi Johnson and Anna Mae Johnson and a brother, Lucky Johnson
Funeral services will be Wednesday (August 2nd) at 11:00 AM at the Pentecostal Church of God, 2201 Cook Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Kenneth Roberts officiating. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Jefferson.
Calling hours will be Tuesday (August 1st) from 6 to 8 PM at the Pentecostal Church of God and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the church.
The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors 49, West Jefferson St. Jefferson is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph L. Ferrell

Joseph L. Ferrell, 78 of Asheville, North Carolina and former Cherry Valley resident died Wednesday (July 25th) at his home. He was born December 29, 1927 in Huntersville, North Carolina the son of Leonard and Lilly Mae (Bridges) Ferrell
He was a veteran of the Army serving in the Korean Conflict.
He was employed as a plumber and also had worked at Rockwell Brake Plant in Saybrook Twp. He enjoyed hunting and fishing
He is survived by his sister, Virginia Neil in North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mildred Jean (Fogle) Ferrell and by three brothers, Harold, L.T. and Jack Ferrell.
Funeral services will be Saturday (July 29th) at 10:00 AM at Cherry Valley Cemetery Route #6 in Cherry Valley with Rev, Julie Hanneman of the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church officiating.
The Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.

William R. March
Thursday, July 27th, 2006
William “Bill” R. March 79 of Chapel Rd. Saybrook Twp. Died Thursday (July 27th) at his home. He was born July 27, 1927 in Ashtabula the son of Claude R. and Theda F. (Roberts) March and has been a lifetime area resident.
He was a veteran of the US Army Air Forces during World War II that he joined during his senior year at Ashtabula High School.
He married Martha “Marty” Parrett on June 6, 1953 in Ashtabula.
He was employed at Ashtabula Bow Sockett until the plant closed in 1982.
He was an active baseball player, he played for Clinton Drug of Jefferson, and he enjoyed softball and was an avid bowler. He was the past president and secretary of many bowling leagues and past member of the Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed Cleveland sports.
Surviving him include his wife of 53 years; two sons, Bill (Kathy) March of Ashtabula and Dale (Chriss) March of Jefferson; a daughter, Kathleen Howe of Ashtabula; five grandchildren, Katrina and Kelly March of Ashtabula, Brian and Jason March of Jefferson and Cory Howe of Ashtabula and two great grandchildren, Avery March and Darcy Howe and his Mother-in-law, Virginia Heath of Austinburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Chuck and Paul and a sister, Pat Huggins.
Funeral services will be Monday (July 31st) at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Dr. Stephen Long of The First Presbyterian Church of Ashtabula officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday (July 30th) from 3 to 5 PM at the funeral home.

Alice M. Woodworth

Alice M. Woodworth, 84 of North Market St. Jefferson died Friday (July 21st) at the Ashtabula County Medical Center. She was born August 22, 1921 in Lenox, Ohio the daughter of Harrison and Florence (Swanson) Miller and has be a lifetime area resident.
She had worked for the True Temper Plant in Saybrook and at the Holiday Inn until her retirement. She enjoyed her farm and her grandchildren.
Surviving her are seven children, Eleanor (Don) Herlin of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Joyce Vendely of Jefferson, Ken Woodworth of Dudley, North Carolina, Alice (Ken) Mantey of Chesterland, Ohio, Neal (Denise) Woodworth of Geneva, Nancy Woodworth of Jefferson and Debra (Scott) Bumgarner of Ashtabula; ten grandchildren, Dana Herlin, Scott Mason, Jennifer (Spencer) Blackwell, Julie Woodworth, Kelly Woodworth, Kevin Mantey, Derek Mantey, Rachel Woodworth, Leslie Woodworth and Jessica Bumgarner; two great grandchildren, Austin and Shandi; one brother, Charles Miller of Jefferson and two sisters, Mildred Tyler of Jefferson and Wanda Bliss of Tampa, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry E. Woodworth in 1977 and by two brothers, Don and Earl Miller.
Funeral services will be Tuesday (July 25th) at 2:00 PM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 49 West Jefferson St. Jefferson with Rev. Meredith Coleman of the Jefferson First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Monday (July 24th) from 6 to 8 PM and on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave. Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
