Frances L. Willey, 85 of Ashtabula Harbor died Sunday (August 11th) at Silver Sands in Ashtabula. She was born September 15, 1927 in Pine Grove, West Virginia the daughter of Frank and Kitty Headley.
She had graduated from Pine Grove High School. She had been employed by the True Temper in Saybrook Township and Carlisle’s warehouse in Ashtabula.
She had been a long time member of the Lake Ave. United Methodist Church and had attended the Second Congregational Church of Ashtabula. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline’s; the Y Wives and the Redbrook Boat Club. She enjoyed line dancing, sewing, gardening and she was a dog lover and loved taking care of the wild animals and birds.
Surviving her are two daughters, Crena (Martin) Lewis of Palestine, Texas and Nancy Willey of Ashtabula; two grandchildren, David Baker and Siobhan U Valle; two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Azucena and thirteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbert Willey in 2010; three sisters, Doris Ash, Nell Parkinson, Betty Jean Studer and a brother, William Headley.
A memorial service will be Saturday (August 31st) 11:00 AM at the Second Congregational Church, 319 Lake Ave. Ashtabula with Rev. Enrique DeJusus officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens. In North Kingsville.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Second Congregational Church or to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Rd, Kingsville, Ohio 44004.
The Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors, 526 West Prospect Rd. Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.

Duane P Miller
September 19, 1955 - August 24, 2013
Services: at
Duane P. Miller, 57, was welcomed to the gates of Heaven on August 24th at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio after losing the fight with complications of pneumonia. He was born September 19, 1955 in Ashtabula to James and Annie (Miller) Parker.
Duane was a resident at Youngstown Developmental Center for over 30 years. While there he enjoyed workshops, activates and social gatherings. Although unable to speak he knew when family members were present which brought happiness and joy to him and family members. Duane will be sadly missed by his “family” at YDC.
Duane was the oldest child and will always be loved and cherished by his loving brothers, sisters and other family relatives. May he rest in peace until we meet again. Surviving him are his brothers and sisters, Patty Parker of Ashtabula, Deborah Parker of Columbus, Keith Parker of Columbus, Jimmy Lee Parker of Ashtabula, Jacqueline (Byron) Parker of Ashtabula, Edward Parker of Ashtabula and several nieces and nephews.. He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Titus and Agnes Miller; paternal grandparents, Ted and Lena Parker and a niece, Tamara Parker.
The family would like to thank St. Elizabeth Hospital of Youngstown, Ohio. Hats off to the doctors and nurses for their dedication and care that was provided to our brother during this difficult time.
At the families request there will be no services. The Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and cremation service, 526 West Prospect Rd. Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.

Helen D. Metzler
May 11, 1927 - August 11, 2013
Services: August 30th, 2013 at 11:00 A. M.
Helen D. Metzler, age 86, former Lenox Twp. and Jefferson resident died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Saybrook Landing Nursing Home.
She was born May 11, 1927 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Edwin & Dorothy (Brauer) Oberg and has lived most of her life in this area. Mrs. Metzler was a long time employee of Northeast Ohio Insurance Agency, she was named Insurance Women of the Year in 1979-80 and she was a member and served as president of Insurance Women of Northeast Ohio. She retired from Ashtabula Co. Home Health Services.
She was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church and a 25 year member of the National Grange of Patrons of Husbandry. She was a Girl Scout and Brownie Troop leader for many years and she enjoyed music, dancing and gardening, was an accomplished artist and loved animals.
She is survived by a daughter, Marlene M. Jennings of Las Vegas, NV, two grandchildren, Candice C. (Phil) VanHerle of Huntington Beach, CA & Andrew A. (Miyuki) Jennings of Las Vegas, NV and two great-grandchildren, Sean VanHerle & Natasha Jennings. Her companion, Mike Kohn preceded her in death.
She will be missed by close friends Rene Beckwith & Bessie Robinson. Thank you to Sandy & Jeffrey Corbett and Dorothy & Bob Plankel who over the years were always there for her. Thank you to Saybrook Landing for taking such great care of Helen.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 29th from 5-7 P. M. at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Rd., Kingsville, OH 44048.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 30th at 11:00 A. M. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gordon Emerson officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery.

Everett L. Smith
May 5, 1922 - August 17, 2013
Services: August 20th, 2013 at 11:00 A. M.
Everett L. Smith, age 91, Griggs Rd., Jefferson Twp., died early Saturday morning at the Jefferson Healthcare Center.
He was born May 5, 1922 in Sheffield Twp., the son of Roy & Lena (Smith) Smith and has been a lifelong resident of the Jefferson area. He was married to Berneta M. Monroe on July 9, 1967 in Winchester, VA. Mr. Smith worked more than 30 years and retired from True Temper Corp.
He was a member of the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church and the Ashtabula Co. Wagon Train, where he served as Wagon Master for many years. Mr. Smith was a gentleman farmer and he enjoyed yodeling, singing, riding his bicycle and making maple syrup with the Smith family.
He is survived by his wife, Berneta, three children, Nancy White of Painesville, Larry (Rayann) Church of Jefferson & Kathryn (David) Root of Easthampton, MA, nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, five siblings, Noble Smith & Lee Smith, both of Sheffield Twp., Ruth Tanner of Jefferson, Arthur Smith & Grace Oeffner, both of Sheffield Twp. and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents and a son, Karl Smith preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Tuesday at the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church, 2610 Lenox-New Lyme Rd., Jefferson, OH 44047, with the Pastor Rick Havens officiating. Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church at the above address, envelopes will also be at the church. The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Home and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson is handling arrangements.

R Jacob Sposito
January 21, 1977 - August 18, 2013
Services: August 22nd, 2013 at 2:00 PM
R. Jacob Sposito, 36 of Walnut Blvd died Sunday (August 18th) in the Hospice Unit of the Ashtabula County Medical Center after a courageous nineteen month battle with brain cancer. He was born January 21, 1977 in Ashtabula the son of Robert D. and Margaret (Madar)Sposito and has been a lifetime area resident.
He was a graduate of Ashtabula Harbor High School and received his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, Cum Laude from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred, New York. Jake owned and operated the Harbor Perk Coffee House and Roasting Company on Bridge Street in Ashtabula.
He worked hard and enjoyed the revitalization of Bridge Street in the Ashtabula Harbor. He also enjoyed his garden and hiking.
Surviving him are his parents of Ashtabula; his wife Kelly (Christopher) Sposito who he married September 6, 2003; his son Niko Sposito; his maternal grandmother, Malvina Madar of Ashtabula; a brother, Ryan Sposito and a sister, Lauren (Jason) Gloekler both of Ashtabula. He was preceded in death by his Paternal grandparents, John and Ann Sposito; Maternal grandfather, Paul E. Madar and his Aunt, Patricia Sposito.
A memorial service will be held Thursday (August 22nd) at 2:00 PM in the yard overlooking the Lake of Ren and Toni Carlisle’s, 4005 Edgewater Dr. Ashtabula with Ven. Shih Ying-Fa, Abbot of CloudWater Zendo of Cleveland officiating. Parking and shuttle service available from northeast corner of Kent State University Ashtabula parking lot.
Following the memorial service a celebration of Jake’s life will be at observed at the home of Ren & Toni Carlisle until 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave. Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 or to Ashtabula County Medical Center Foundation in memory of Jacob Sposito, 2420 Lake Ave. Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.

DeeDra A. Pilson
October 16, 1966 - August 15, 2013
Services: August 19th, 2013 at 6:00 P. M.
DeeDra A. Pilson, age 46, Leon Rd., Richmond Twp., died Thursday afternoon at her residence after a year long fight with cancer.
She was born October 16, 1966 in Warren, the daughter of the late James & Betty Lou (Bailey) Silvers and has been a resident of this area most of her life. DeeDra was a 1985 graduate of Pymatuning Valley High School and also attended Cornith Christian Academy in Kinsman. She was married to Darren S. Pilson on June 13, 1992 at the Leon United Methodist Church.
DeeDra was a member of the Andover United Methodist Church, was active with the Pymatuning Valley Touchdown Club and enjoyed music, flower gardening and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Darren, three children, Joshua R. Pilson, Kerra D. Pilson and Evan S. Pilson, all at home, a sister, Angela Silvers of Newton Falls, a half-sister, Dawn Higginbothan of Niles and two half-brothers, Christopher & Lloyd Gibbs.
Memorial services will be held Monday at 6:00 P. M. at the Andover United Methodist Church, 181 S. Main St., Andover, with the Rev. Vernon Palo officiating. Calling hours will be held Monday from 2-6 P. M. at the church.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Hospice of the Western Reserve for their care and attention they gave DeeDra.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family, envelopes will be at the church. The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, is handling arrangements.
