PATRICIA MAHER TOOLE
PATRICIA MAHER TOOLE, 86, of Tucson, Ariz. and formerly of Martins Ferry, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at her home.
Patricia was born on Friday, September 24, 1915, in Martins Ferry, a daughter of the late Patrick and Doris Lynn Maher.
She was formerly an employee of the Colvig Ladies Clothing Store of Wheeling, a veteran of the WAVE's during W.W.II and a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick A. Toole; a son, Patrick F. Toole and a brother, Lynn F. Maher.
Surviving are three daughters, Katie Taylor of Alaska, Maureen Fittig of Iowa and Terri Hamblem of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Jo Ellen Keller of Martins Ferry; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services and interment were held Friday, March 8, 2002, in Tucson at the convenience of the family.

CHARLES F. SHUTLER
CHARLES F. SHUTLER, 75, of Monroe Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at his residence.
He was born in Proctor, W. Va. on Saturday, August 28, 1926, a son of the late Frederick J. and Clara B. Frohnapfel Shutler.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wolfhurst, served in W W II in the U. S. Army, Past President Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors as Vice President of Fidelity Savings & Loan, Member of the Knights of Columbus and Lions Club.
Charles established Shutler's Market in Martins Ferry with his brother, Edmund in 1950. He established several stores since, which he still ownes, which included Powhatan Convenient in 1975, Paden City Convenient in 1979, Mineral Wells I G A in 1992, and Briarwood I G A in 1997.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen M. Barrett Shutler and one brother, Edmund Shutler.
Surviving are 4 sons, Kevin C. Shutler and his wife, Kathy of St. Clairsville, Michael J. Shutler and his wife, Patty of Parkersburg, W. Va., Terry A. Shutler and his wife, Dawn of Paden City, W. Va., Ronald L. Shutler, Parkersburg, W. Va.; 2 daughters, Mary Beth Boger and her husband,Dennis of Powhatan, Ohio, Nancy E. McFarland and her husband, Shawn of Colerain, Ohio: 5 brothers, Herbert Shutler, Proctor, W. Va., Fidelis Shutler, Robert Shutler, Eugene Shutler all from Wheeling, . Va., and Urban Shutler, St. Clairsville, Ohio; 1 sister, Edith Fahey of Wheeling, W. Va. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated Thursday, March 14, 2002, at 1p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wolfhurst with Msgr. Mark J. Froehlich as the celebrant. Interment followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, W. Va.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 68210 Neola Ave., Bridgeport, Ohio 43912

HELEN DeBLASIS
HELEN DeBLASIS, 83, formerly of Elmhurst Ave., Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, in Forest Hill Retirement Community.
She was born in Primrose, Pa., on Thursday, March 20, 1919, the daughter of the late Steve and Mary Oswh Gisco.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry and retired co owner of DeBlasis Corner Store, formerly of Aetnaville, Bridgeport.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and John Gisco.
She is survived by her husband Ernest DeBlasis.
At the family's request there will be no visitation. Funeral service were held at the convenience of the family with Father Thomas Magary officiating.
Interment followed in Upland Cemetery, Yorkville, Ohio.

MINNIE B. NORMAN
MINNIE B. NORMAN, of Rose Hill Towers, Bellaire, Ohio, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at her residence.
Minnie was born in Fairmont, W.Va. on Monday, August 14, 1933, a daughter of the late Charles and Stella Rose.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Guy Rose and one sister, Ada Crite.
She is survived by two sons, Linsey E. (Patty) Nice Jr., Lorain, Oh.; Charles E. (Darla) Nice, Wheeling, W.Va.; six daughters, Margaret Barncord, Wheeling; Sarah Jane Morris, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Terri (Dan) Wise, Tuscon, Arizona; Minnie (William) Cramer, Cleveland; Betty (Edward) Jones, Kensington, Oh.; Shirley (Donnie) Myers, Fairmont, W.Va. and one brother, Harold Rose also of Fairmont. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Funeral services and interment were held at the convenience of the family.

KATHRYN L. MONAHAN
KATHRYN L. MONAHAN, 87, of South Zane Highway, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Friday May 10, 2002 at her residence.
Kathryn was born in New Kensington, Pa., on Saturday, November 21, 1914, the daughter of the late Walter D. and Mildred C. (Miller) Herr.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and a former Sunday school teacher, Business Professional Women's Club and Past President of the Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce. Before her retirement she was owner and operator of Ferry Hardware in Martins Ferry for 50 years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne J. Monahan and one brother Walter M. Herr.
She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn J. wife of Thomas Moore of Martins Ferry; two sons, W. Gordon husband of Nancy Monahan, Huntington, N. Y. and William J. Monahan of Martins Ferry; two brothers, Kenneth E. husband of Erma Herr, Bonita Springs, Fl. and Gordon husband of Edna Herr, Reading, Pa. Also surviving are six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2002, with Rod Kasler officiating. Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

PAULINE A. WOOD
PAULINE A. WOOD, 84, formerly of Park Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Friday May 10, 2002, at East Ohio Regional Long Term Care.
She was born in Martins Ferry on Wednesday, July 25, 1917, the daughter of the late James and Eloise (Jerger) Huff.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James R. Wood.
She is survived by two sons, Robert R. (Judy) Wood of Martins Ferry and James H. (Bobbie Jean) Wood of Sulphur, La. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 1 gread grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 13, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Joe Sanders officiating. Interment followed in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.

BERNICE A. WILSON SPEIDEL
BERNICE A. WILSON SPEIDEL, 77, of N. 8th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at her residence.
Bernice was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on Thursday, August 28, 1924, a daughter of the late Joshua Albert and Hazel Alta (Stead) Wilson.
She was a retired secretary/teacher's aide at Martins Ferry City Schools, Martins Ferry.
She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church Martins Ferry, a very active member, Sunday School Superintendent, Church Clerk, Sunday School Teacher and served on the Board of Missions and Christian Education. She was a member of AARP, and served on the Board of Directors of Martins Ferry Model Cities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Irvin Speidel, one daughter, Audrey Joyce Lee and four sisters, Alberta Thornton, Betty Dowdell, Audra McCardle and infant sister Eleanor Wilson.
Bernice is survived by two sons, James L. (Mary) Speidel, Prince George, Va.; SFC Jonathan M. (Stephanie Strauss) Speidel, Killeen, Texas; two daughters, Eleanor L. Shafer, St. Clairsville, Ohio; Irene C. West, Cheyenne, Wyo.; two brothers, Charles A. (Betty Lee) Wilson, Massillon, Ohio; James A. (Barbara "Joy") Wilson, Colonial Heights, Va.; one sister, Deborah K. (Paul) Curnes Sr., Martins Ferry, Ohio. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 3, 2002 at 1 p.m., with Rev. Joe Sanders officiating.
Interment was held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 306 Locust Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.
