RUTH P. MORAN
RUTH P. MORAN, 82, of North 5th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at her residence.
She was born in Martins Ferry on Monday, October 20, 1919, a daughter of the late Edward Michael and Charlotte (Stipes) Cleary.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughter's organization of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ricard C. Moran; four sisters, Lillian Jones, Betty Graves, Nancy Jeanne Cleary and one infant sister; two brothers, Charles and James Cleary.
Surviving are four sons, Richard C. Moran and his wife Connie of Avondale, Ariz.; Daniel J. Moran and his wife Susan; John (Tim) Moran and his wife Peggy, both of Bridgeport; William E. Moran and his wife Denise of Bellaire; two daughters, Charlotte M., wife of William Hess of May's Landing, N.J. and Ruth Ann, wife of Monte Miller of Bellaire; four sisters, Dorothy Mills of Martins Ferry; Tillie Biggs of Wellsburg, W. Va.; Patricia Hanlin of Martins Ferry; Carolyn McKean of Steubenville; two brothers, Edward Michael Cleary of Georgia; William Cleary of Martins Ferry. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 20, 20002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry with Father Thomas Magary officiating.
Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
Donations may be made to SMC 2000, 24 N. 4th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio 43935.

ANNA R. BURDA
ANNA R. BURDA, 85, formerly of Virginia Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at Heartland of Lansing Nursing & Rehab. Center, Lansing, Ohio.
Anna was born in Martins Ferry on Wednesday, January 24, 1917, the daughter of the late John and Helen (Yuhaz) Rico.
She was retired from the Martins Ferry Plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters Organization of Martins Ferry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Burda and two brothers, Frank and Steve Rico.
She is survived by two brothers, John Rico of Martins Ferry and Joseph Rico of Colerain, Ohio and also numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry Saturday July 6, 2002, with Father Richard Battocletti as the celebrant. Intermet followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, W. Va.

NORMAN C. (BUSSY) DAVIS, JR.
NORMAN C. (BUSSY) DAVIS, JR., 67, of South 8th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Thursday, July 11, 2002 at his residence.
Norman was born in Martins Ferry on Monday, January 7, 1935, a son of the late Norman C. and Margaret M. O'Connor Davis.
He was a retired employee for East Ohio Regional Hospital, where he worked as an orderly and also a boilerman for the Y.M.C.A. in Elm Grove and Wheeling, W. Va. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry and also a veteran of the U. S. Army.
He touched and enriched the lives of many in his lifetime.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda L. Eden Davis, who he married on September 19, 1964, three sons: Norman (Butch) Davis, Mobile, Ala.; John (J. D.) Davis, Martins Ferry; Norman Buddy (Tonya) Davis, St. Clairsville; two brothers: Charles (Jeanean) Davis, Shadyside, Oh.; Thomas Davis, Martins Ferry; three sisters: Ann (Joe) Ridener, Yorkville, Oh.; Lee(William) Antill and Mary (Richard) Lutz, both of Martins Ferry. Also surviving are five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Saturday, July 13, 2002, with Father Thomas Magary officiating. Interment was held at the convenience of the family.

LAWRENCE BEN MARTIN
LAWRENCE BEN MARTIN, 75, of Main Street, Wheeling, W. Va.,died Monday, August 5, 2002 at his residence.
Lawrence was born in Bridgeport, Ohio on Tuesday, June 7, 1927, a son of the late Vernon and Virginia (O'Neal) Martin.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and formerly worked for Maroon Enterprises, Bridgeport and Lynn's Gift Shop, Wheeling, W. Va.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Jack Neal Martin and two sisters, Barbara L. Martin and Margaret Wetzel.
He is survived by one sister, Patricia (Russell) Snodgrass, Wheeling, W. Va.
A memorial service was held at the funeral home, Friday, August 9, 2002, with Rev. Mark L. Tisch officiating.
Interment followed in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.

MARY JANE (HOPE) JONES
MARY JANE (HOPE) JONES, 86, formerly of Martins Ferry and Rayland, Ohio, passed quietly on Saturday, September 7, 2002 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling, W. Va.
She was born on Thursday, December 2, 1915 in Martins Ferry, only child of the late Samuel and Mary Ann (Green) Hope, stepdaughter of the late Harper Fulton.
She was a member of The community of Christ Church on Wheeling Island, past active member of the Mackey Community Center and Mackey School PTA.
In addition to her parents and stepfather she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Jones in 1996 with whom she shared her life for 61 years.
She will be deeply missed by three sons, Clair (Noreen) of Seneca, Ill., Ned (Debby) of Coolville, Oh. and Ralph (Patty) of Herndon, Va.; five daughters, Jane (Paul) White of Bridgeport, Barbara (Howard) Kelley of Marseilles, Ill., Mary Beth (Bill) Yeager of Wheeling, Bonnie Travis and Pam (Mike) Cox both of Martins Ferry; 27 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
Mary Jane was a loving devoted wife, beloved mother and wonderful grandma. She was a good, kind and caring neighbor. She had a beautiful smile, which she openly shared and she knew no strangers. To all who knew her, she was the best.
Mary Jane cooked at a local family restaurant for many years and was well known for her home cooking and delicious pies. She enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans for family, friends and those in need.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment followed in Week's Cemetery, Bridgeport.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 159 Edgington Lane, Wheeling, W. Va. 26003.

MATTHEW S. (JOE) BERLETCH
MATTHEW S. (JOE) BERLETCH, 51, formerly of Martins Ferry, Ohio died Saturday, August 31, 2002 at his residence on National Road, St. Clairsville, Ohio.
He was born on Sunday, April 15, 1951, a son of Matthew S. Berletch, Bridgeport, Oh. and Frances M. (Klotz) Berletch of Martins Ferry.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Vietname War. While in the service of his country Matthew received the Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infrantryman's Badge (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster) and theBronze Star Medal for Heroism.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son Chance S. Berletch, St. Clairsville, Oh.; one brother Larry L. husband of Karen Berletch, Martins Ferry; three sisters Debbie J. wife of James Hill, Martins Ferry; Sandy S. wife of Harry Caprita, Piedmont, Oh. and Robin A. wife of Ernie Pollock, Martins Ferry. Also surviving are one grandson Matthew S. Berletch, St. Clairsville, Oh. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 5, 2002 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Peter L. Pilger officiating. Interment was held at the convenience of the family.

MARIE H. (KUNCZT) PARKER
MARIE H. (KUNCZT) PARKER, 94, formerly of Selby Apts., Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Saturday, August 24, 2002 in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon, Pa.
She was born in Carmen, Ohio, on Saturday, January 4, 1908, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Anna V. (Berher) Kunczt.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Parker; one son, Joseph Cheek; four brothers, George, Joseph, Michael and Anthony Kunczt and four sisters, Gazella Stanko, Anna Kunczt, Lena Muldowny and Agnes Zupko.
Surviving are two sons, William A. (Karen) Parker, Houston, Texas; John (Charlotte) Parker, McDonough, Georgia; four daughters, Carolyn J.(Dennis) Farmerie, Harker Hgts, Texas; Roberta E. Parker, Topeka, Kansas; Rose A. Manfreddi, Clairton, Pa.; Cynthia M. Brower, Texarkana, Texas. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated Tuesday, August 27, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, with Father Thomas Magary as the celebrant. Intermet followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
