Jelena Usenick
Jelena R. Usenick, 40, of N. Sugar St., St. Clairsville, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003 at her home. She was born Oct. 31, 1962 in Barnesville. A daughter of William Kopyar and Ada Arlene Truex Kopyar of St. Clairsville.
She was an employee of the Glassworks Lounge at Oglebay Park in Wheeling and a member of the Church of Christ in St. Clairsville.
She was preceded in death by her biological father, Charles McClelland; infant sister, Amy McClelland; and grandfather, Charles Truex.
Surviving in addition to her parents, are two sons, Dylan and Gunner Usenick, both of the home; five sisters, Mrs. Floyd "Betty Rose" Shuttleworth of Wheeling, Mrs. Danny "Judy Lynn" McMillan of Uniontown, Mrs. Rich "Julie" Daley of North Canton, Billie Jo DeFelice of St. Clairsville, and Mrs. Greg "Jennifer" Wallace of Bellaire; two brothers, Jerry L. Kopyar and his wife Cyndi of Wheeling, Florian J. Kopyar and his wife Maggie of St. Clairsville; stepmother, Betty McClelland of St. Clairsville; grandparents, Beulah and Delmas Gibbons of Woodsfield; 12 nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held at 8 p.m., on Monday, with Everett Hutson officiating.

James Wehr
James (Donny) Wehr, 75, of Boston, Ohio, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003 at OVMC. He was born Sept. 23, 1928 in Calais, Ohio, a son of the late Hot and Faye Carpenter Wehr.
Downy attended Boston Church of Christ and retired from Blaney Lumber, Bethesda, Ohio and he was an avid bowler for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helm Stephen, and a brother, Curtis Wehr.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Stephens Wehr, one daughter, Mrs. Mike (Diane) Stephens, a granddaughter, Ashley Stephens and a grandson, Derrick and his wife (Brandy) Stephens, all of Barnesville; six sisters, Eve Mae Brown of Warren, Ohio, Bernice Moore of Barnesville, Norma Lee Schweikert of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Janet Stump of Leesburg, Fla., Velma Neuhart of Calais, and Beverly Legg of Surgarcreek, Ohio; six brothers, Vernon Wehr of Barnesville, Fred Wehr of Columbus, Jimmie Lawrence (Ozzie) and Norman (Jake) and Roger Wehr, all of Barnesville.
Friends will be received Friday, 4 to 8 p.m., at Kelly - Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, 702 East Main St., Barnesville, where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Burial in Holly Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions to the Barnesville Senior Center, 229 East Main St., Barnesville, OH 43713.

Helen M. Mazoch
Helen M. Mazoch, 92, of Shadyside, formerly of Brookside, Ohio, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
She was born April 21, 1911, in Zeigler, Illinois, daughter of the late Albert and Helen Griec Chavanak.
Helen retired from Warwick China Company in Benwood in 1954 and was a member of the Slovene National Society.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Edward S. Mazoch; three brothers, John, Paul and Andy Chavanak; four sisters, Mary Shaffer, Elizabeth Tribett, Sophia Kramer and infant sister, Sophia Chavanak.
She is survived by one daughter, Paula Ginther of Shadyside; several sister-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Helen's visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time of her funeral services at 11:30 a.m., at Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio, with the Rev. James A. Hoff as the officiant. Interment follows at Belmont Memorial Park, St. Clairsville.
Memorial contributions in Helen's memory may be made to the Shadyside VFD, 4210 Central Ave., Shadyside, Ohio 43947 or to the Clare Kapral Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o St. Johns Central High School, 37th and Guernsey St., Bellaire, Ohio 43906.

John K. Roberts
John K. Roberts, 63, of Belmont Street, Bellaire, Ohio, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, while in the company of family members at his mother's residence.
He was born in Bellaire, Ohio, on April 22, 1940, the son of the late Virgil V. and Pauline L. (Morrison) Roberts who survives him of Martins Ferry, ohio.
He was a retired security guard at East Ohio Regional Hospital and a member of First United Methodist Church, both of Martins Ferry. John also was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Anitra Peterson.
John is survived by his wife Sheila A. (Lojas) Roberts; one son, Michael Roberts of Laredo, Texas and one daughter, Amy K., wife of Rudy Vavrock of Martins Ferry.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Funeral Home, Martins Ferry, Ohio. Following John's wishes, a private graveside service will be held at Week's Cemetery, Bridgeport, Ohio, with Pastor Van D. Fisher officiating.

Sadie Kerwood
Sadie Taylor Kerwood, 85, Brilliant, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, in Weirton Medical Center.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1918 in Massillon, Ohio, a daughter of the late Herbert and Myrtle Thatcher Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband, whom she married on June 12, 1937, William Jennings Kerwood, who passed away on Sept. 10, 1992; a son, George Kerwood; two brothers, Clarence T. and Francis T. Taylor; two sisters, Anna Mae Collins and infant sister, Grace Taylor.
Sadie was a retired ward helper and worked in the sanitation department at Ohio Valley Hospital, Steubenville. She was also Protestant by faith.
Surviving are her son, William F. Kerwood and his wife Ethel, Brilliant; a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Sharon) Dutton, Rayland, Ohio; a brother Russell Taylor, Georges Run, Ohio; a sister, Blanche Taylor, Wintersville, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third Street, Brilliant, where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Sam Retzer officiating. Interment will follow in New Alexandria Cemetery, New Alexandria.

John Gray
John J. "Johnny" Gray, 83, of Indian Run, Bellaire, Ohio, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born Oct. 24, 1920 at Worthington, W.Va., a son of the late Emanuel and Hilda Baker Gray.
He was a 1940 graduate of Bellaire High School, then attended the Drafting School of Jackson, Ohio. He worked as a draftsman for the Ohio Department of Transportation and then the Belmont County Engineering Department. He was a retired glass engraver from Sickles Glass of Bellaire and St. Clairsville specializing in custom etchings.
Johnny was well known as a drummer, pianist and guitar player in bands throughout the valley since the late thirties. He also loved to do impersonations of TV and movie stars and was a Christian by faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son John Jay Gray in March of 2003; five brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Goldie Bazar Gray of Bellaire; a daughter Becky Stead and her husband Chris of St. Clairsville, Ohio; a son, Mark Gray and his wife Karen of Bridgeport, Ohio; two sisters, Irene Moreland of Castalia, Ohio and Pansy Falcone of Massillon, Ohio; two grandsons, Kevin Bickmeier and his wife Denielle of Noblesville, In., Brandon Gray of Bridgeport; four granddaughters, Angela Theil and her husband Rich of Loveland, Ohio, Erin and Kristen Gray, both of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Kaylyn Gray of Bridgeport, two great granddaughters, Madison and Hayley Theil of Loveland.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 441 37th St., Bellaire, Ohio, where services will be Monday at 2 p.m., with Father Gary Zalenski officiating. Burial follows in Belmont County Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Clairsville, Ohio.

John Hanson, Sr.
John Thomas Hanson, Sr., 81, of High Ridge Road, Bellaire, died Friday, in his home.
He was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Strasburg, Ohio, a son of the late William and Alice Nixon Hanson.
John was a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel's Martins Ferry Mill, American Legion Post, 52, Bellaire, attended the First United Methodist Church, Bellaire and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Samuel and Andrew Hanson and a sister, Gertrude Sutton.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Shaw Hanson; three sons, John T. Hanson, Jr., of Bellaire, Gary Wayne (Cathy) Hanson of N. Canton, Ohio and David (Nancy) Hanson of Brookside; a brother, Arthur Dale Hanson, of Powhatan Point; a sister, Nancy Spears of Dillonvale, Ohio; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends received Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m., and Monday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Bauknecht - Altmeyer Funeral Home, 441 37th Street, Bellaire, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, with the Rev. Thomas Jones officiating.
Interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Bellaire.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Belmont County Heart Fund.
American Legion Post 52 services, Monday, 7:30 p.m., in the funeral home.

Gertrude Ignace
Gertrude Louise Ignace, 91, of Smithfield, Ohio, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003 in the Cable Care Center in Hopedale.
There will be no visitation. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service for Louise on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 5 p.m., at the Yorkville Kingdom Hall, 820 S. Market St., Yorkville.
Arrangements are by the J.E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 107 Hill St., Smithfield.

Mary Lou Giffin
Mary Lou Giffin, 74, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003 at the Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, W.Va.
She was born Oct. 22, 1929 in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of the late Paul and Evelyn Grella Heil.
Mary Lou was a retired employee of the Belmont Savings Bank, a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville, the Martha Circle at Calvary Presbyterian Church and the Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority Epsilon Chapter in St. Clairsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin J.J. Giffin on Oct. 26, 1975.
Surviving are one son, Calvin Giffin and his wife, Lori of Westerville, Ohio; three daughters, Lou Ann Casey and her husband, Mark of Palatine, Ill., Betsy Giffin of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Ellen Giffin of St. Clairsville, Ohio; one sister, Helen Marling of Lansing, Ohio. Also four grandchildren, Jennifer and Ryan Casey, Benjamin and Sarah Giffin.
Friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 441 37th St., Bellaire, on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m. Friends will be received on Monday from noon until time of services at 1 p.m., at the Calvary Presbyterian Church, 100 South Marietta St., St. Clairsville, with the Rev. Laurie Armstrong officiating. Interment in the Rock Hill Cemetery Bellaire.
The Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority Epsilon Chapter will conduct services on Sunday at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Presbyterian Church, 100 South Marietta St., St. Clairsville, Ohio 43950 or the Alzheimer's Association OSU Development Fund #536246 Office of Medical Center Development Fund 1375 Perry St., Columbus, Ohio 43201.
