Jesse Shepperd
Jesse L. Shepperd, 75, of Katherine Dr., St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born Nov. 22, 1927 at Terre Haute, In., a son of the late Jesse and Lucy Riasinger Shepperd.
Jesse was the former Assistant Vice President of Safety for Consolidated Coal Company.
He was a former U.S. Army medic and attended Christ the King Lutheran Church of St. Clairsville.
He was a member of Belmont Lodge #16 F&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Cambridge, and Osiris Temple of Wheeling.
In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by a brother Edgar Shepperd.
Surviving are his wife, H. Louise Smith Shepperd; three daughters, Cheryl L. (Larry) Elliot and Nancy S. (Jim) Willett Combs both of St. Clairsville, and Constance L. (Allen) Shepperd of Medina; four grandchildren, Hunter Willett, Lee O. and Lyndsay Wlliot of St. Clairsville, and Mikhail Jesselee Shepperd Bady of Medina; a brother Clifford Shepperd of Canton and two sisters, Ruby Krahulee of Sullivan, In., and Dorothy Poff of Goshen, In.
Friends will be received 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 204 W. Main St., St. Clairsville, Ohio, where funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m., with Rev. Leland Eilert officiating.
Burial follows at Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.
Masonic services will be at 5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, St. Clairsville.

Mary Best
Mary E. Bunner Best, 89, of Cameron, formerly of Francine Court, Moundsville, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003 in Cameron Continuous Care Center.
She was born Oct. 29, 1914, in Jacobsburg, Ohio, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mae Parker Bunner.
She was a member of Moundsville Baptist Church, F.O. Eagles #499 Auxiliary and Earl Francis Post #3 American Legion Auxiliary, both of Moundsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, in 1963 by her husband, Lester Best, an infant son; four brothers, George, Charles, Tom and Jim Bunner and two sisters, Clara "Siss" Wiedebusch and Ethel Reinhardt.
Surviving are two sons, Lester E. (Vickie) Best and Ronald E. (Sadonna) Best, both of Moundsville; a daughter, Donna (David) Durbin of Sherrard; a stepdaughter, Jane (Carl) Fry of Ak., and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m., at Grisell Funeral Home, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, where funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m., with Rev. Ronald McCoy officiating. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.

Bernice Padden
Bernice V. Hixenbaugh Clouston Padden, 98, of Brookpark Place, Wheeling, died Monday at home.
Born in Wheeling, W. Va., on October 2, 1905, Bernice was the daughter of the late Mack and Ada Hayman Hixenbaugh.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Wheeling and a retired employee of Bloch Brothers Tobacco - Eastern Stemery of Wheeling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, E.R. Clouston and Frank J. Padden; three brothers, Ercel, Charles and Roy Hixenbaugh and a sister Marjorie Showalter.
Surviving are her son, Roy P. Clouston and his wife Dora Lee of Shadyside Ohio.; a grandson, Roy E. Clouston and his wife Rosanne of Shadyside Ohio.; a granddaughter, Verdina Butcher of Galena O.; and three great grandsons: Ryan, Raymond and Rowan Clouston all of Shadyside Ohio.; a nephew and several nieces.
There will be no visitation. Private services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements by the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, W. Va.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.

Stanley Adamsky
Stanley J. Adamsky, 94, of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003 at East Ohio Regional Hospital.
He was born Feb. 16, 1909, at Opal, Poland and came to the United States when he was 3 years old.
He was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Yorkville Plant in 1972 and a member of St. Adalbert's Catholic Church, Dillonvale.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Ursula Adamsky, his wife, Mary (Bezak) Adamsky in 1990; three brothers, John, Louis and Victor and one sister, Helen Polinski.
Stanley is survived by his only daughter, Mary Sue Dundr and her husband, James, of Mt. Pleasant; grandson, Tim Dundr and his wife Karen of Cleveland and granddaughter, Tara Dundr of Dayton.
Friends are welcome on Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m., at Borkoski Funeral Home, Adena, where services will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 with Monsignor John Kolesar officiating. Burial follows at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

Ruth Meadows
Ruth G. Meadows, 79, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003 in Allegheny Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Ruth was born March 13, 1924 in Kanawha County, W. Va., a daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret Cotton Welch.
She was a member of the Church Alive of Key, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James William Meadows; a son, James Meadows; a daughter, Sandra Hughes; two brothers, Franklin Dale Welch and Billy Welch; two sisters, Mary Lou Stepp and Dorothea Kunkle.
Surviving are four sons, Roger (Crystal) Meadows of Gillette, Wy., Thomas (Georgia) Meadows of Lake Worth, Fla., Donald (Patsy) Meadows of Powhatan Point and Gary Meadows of Centerville; three daughters, Janice (Thomas) Younkins, Jr., of Dillonvale, Ruth Ann (Marty) Broughton of Elkins, W. Va., and Connie (Randy) Ramsay of Jacobsburg; three brothers, Harry Welch of New Berlin, Wisc., Don Welch of Key, Ralph Welch of Alledonia, a sister, Pat Eubanks of Lansing, Ohio; 24 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren and two great - great grandchildren.
Friends received Friday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Bauknecht - Altmeyer Funeral Home, 186 Main Street, Powhatan Point, Ohio, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, with Pastor Jeffrey Lewis officiating.
Interment in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point.
Memorial contributions may be made to Church Alive, Key, Ohio.

Lillian Meadows
Lillian Sarahann Gibbs Meadows, 86, formerly of Brookside, Ohio, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 in Manor Care Nursing Facility at Westerville, Ohio.
Lillian was born Feb. 25, 1917 at Bridgeport, Ohio, the daughter of the late James and Martha Hawkins Gibbs.
Her career was in retail women's clothing having worked for the former L.S. Good & Co., and Horne's, both of Wheeling, W.Va.; a former member of the West Bridgeport United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Bridgeport Chapter.
In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Wyman "Wayne" Gordon Meadows, Feb. 3, 1990, and her brother Howard Gibbs.
Lillian is survived by her son James and his wife Mary Ellen Meadows and her grandchildren, Keenan and Kelsey Meadows all of Westerville, Ohio.
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at 1 p.m., with the Rev. James A. Hoff, officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

Mary Dietrich
Mary Mehlman Dietrich, 91, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, formerly of Wheeling, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 at Park Health Center, St. Clairsville.
She was born Nov. 24, 1912 at Nanty-Gio, Pa., a daughter of the late Anton and Monica Paunlite Unites.
Mary was the founder of Mehlman's Cafeteria St. Clairsville and a Catholic by faith.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Fred Mehlman, Sr., and her second husband Graham Dietrich, and an infant brother, Anton Unites.
Surviving are two sons, Fred J. and his wife Mary Jo Mehlman of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Elwyn E. and his wife Diane Mehlman of Bay Village, Ohio; a daughter Mrs. David (Elsie) Wise of Bellaire, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home, St. Clairsville, Ohio where services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Thomas Chillog officiating.
Burial follows at Belmont Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

Dorothy Sutton
Dorothy Mae Stock Sutton, 80, of Dundee Way, Orlando, Florida, formerly of Long Run, Ohio, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at her home. She was born April 4, 1923 in Ramsey, Ohio, a daughter of Mike and Mary Viola Stock.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Dallas William Sutton and Daniel Richard Sutton and two sisters, Lucille Karr and Catherine Stewart.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, William Sutton of Orlando; three sons, Rodger (Linda) Sutton of Clermont, Fla.; William (Mary) Sutton of Martins Ferry, Ohio and James (Sherrie) Sutton of Flushing, Ohio; a brother, Michael Stock of Wintersville, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and many great - grandchildren.
Dorothy was a former employee of Martins Ferry Hospital and Vine Cliff Restaurant. She and her husband were the owners of Bill and Dot's Truck Stop, Colerain, Ohio and she retired from Orlando Regional Hospital.
National Cremation Society, Winter Park, Florida was in charge.
