Flora Hagan
Flora Hagan, 99, of Jerusalem, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003 in the Barnesville Health care Center.
She was born Aug. 11, 1904 in Belmont County, a daughter of the late Dairl and Blanche Simeral Wheeler.
She was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Switzerland of Ohio District for 35 years. She was a member of the Jerusalem United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Flora was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph D. Hagan; two sons, Don and Darrell Hagan; a grandson, Durwin Hagan; and a sister, Mae King.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol (Conrad) Burchette of Bethesda; a brother, Ray Wheeler of Newark; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Harper Funeral Home, Beallsville, where services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow in Somerton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jerusalem United Methodist Church.

Teddy Martinkosky
Teddy P. Martinkosky, 83, of Wheeling, died Wednesday at Peterson Hospital.
He was born in Lansing, Ohio, on May 1, 1920 and was the son of the late Joseph A. and Mary A. Bojarski Martinkosky.
Teddy was a member of the former St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Wheeling and a retired employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. He was a member of the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America, the PAP Club and the Lansing Sports Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley"Martin"- Martinkosky and Stephen "Mabel"- Martinkosky.
Surviving are his wife Mirandy Gorczyca Martinkosky; two sons, Ronald E. Martinkosky and his wife Kathleen of Bridgeport Ohio, Richard E. Martinkosky and his wife Phillis of Wheeling; one daughter Janet Cunningham and her husband Charles of Wheeling; two brothers, Fr. Joseph A. Martinkosky of Columbus, Ohio and Leonard Martinkosky of Willoughby, Ohio. He is also survived by two grandsons, Matthew Cunningham of Wheeling and Alexander Martinkosky of Bridgeport, Ohio; four granddaughters, Wendy Tronka and her husband Michael of Lansing, Ohio, Carrie Gralinski and her husband Shawn of Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri, Mareesa Cunningham of Wheeling and Amy Martinkosky of Bridgeport,Ohio; two great granddaughters, Celeste and Colleen Tronka of Lansing Ohio, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, South Wheeling Chapel, 3828 Jacob Street, Wheeling on Friday from 12 to 9 p.m. Liturgy of the Word with Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling with the Rev. Pat Condron officiating. Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling. Vigil services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

James Brown, Jr.
James Dixon "J.B."Brown, Jr., 64, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W.Va.
He was born April 15, 1939 in Weirton, W.Va., a son of the late James D. and Jessie Lee Strong Brown, Sr.
James was a supervisor at the Ormet Corporation in Hannibal, Ohio, and attended Shiloh Temple, in Aetnaville, Ohio. He also was a member of the Triadelphia Elks Club.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Keith Parson; a stepsister, Agnes Brooks and his grandmother-in-law, Ernestine Catlipp.
Surviving are his loving wife of 45 years, Shirley Vincent Brown of St. Clairsville; three sons, Michael and his wife Cynthia Brown of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Keith and his wife Cynthia Brown of Va., and Rodney and his wife Regina Brown of Belmont, Ohio; two daughters, Sonya Pugh - Gillespie of Columbus, Ohio and Andrea Parson of St. Clairsville, Ohio; four sisters Judith Salter, Weirton, W.Va., Anne M. Dumas, Cleveland, Ohio, Victoria Taylor, Cleveland, Ohio and Jean Campbell, Philadelphia, Pa.; one brother, Gary Brown of Weirton, W.Va.; an aunt, Lucille Anderson of Atlanta, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, Shelly Nicole Brown, James Nelson Brown, Ah'Neisha Simone Brown, Eric Lamont Brown, Jaylon MarKeith Brown, Ashliy Leigh Brown, Alexandrea Marie Brown, Taylor Dixon Brown, David Pugh, Jr., Devon John Keith Parson, Ashly Parson, Afton Parson, and Trina Renee Knotts; four great grandchildren, Cam'Ron Culver, Deiondre Louis Brown, Tierra James Brown and Stephen Allen Craig; along with a mother-in-law, Juanita Vincent; in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home, 204 W. Main St., St. Clairsville, Ohio. There will also be visitation Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m., at Shiloh Temple in Aetnaville, Ohio, where services will be held at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James Agnew, Jr. officiating, then visitation 1 to 3 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Weirton, W.Va.
Burial will follow at Paris Cemetery, in Paris, Pa.

Delores Oberling
Delores Claire (Swearingen, Muenze) Oberling, 85, of Dublin, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.
Previously employed by Wheeling Steel Corp. and Belmont County National Bank. She was retired from Scioto Memorial Hospital in Portsmouth, Ohio, a member of First Lutheran Church in Portsmouth, Ohio, a past member of Christ The King Lutheran Church in St. Clairsville, Ohio, a member of Eltor Grotto and Scioto Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Preceding her in death was her first husband Frank Muenze in 1964 and second husband Henry Oberling, Sr. in 2003, brothers, sisters and parents.
Surviving is a daughter Jerri Sue (Bill) Hutter of Dublin and grandson Andrew.
Arrangements completed by the Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard.
Family will receive friends Saturday 10 a.m to noon at the Toothman Funeral Home, 141 S. Marietta St., St. Clairsville, Ohio. Funeral service noon Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor John Morris officiating. Burial at Belmont Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church, Grandview Avenue, Portsmouth, Ohio.

Mary Stanko
Mary Michalski Stanko, 84, of Seminole Avenue, Lansing, Ohio, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003 in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W. Va.
She was born Aug. 1, 1919 at Blaine, Ohio, the daughter of the late Paul and Katherine Kasperek Michalski.
Mary was a retired employee of the former A&P Company, Bridgeport, and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Wolfhurst.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Steve "Miggs" Stanko, her three brothers, Vasnic "Jackie", Stanley and Joseph Michalski; her two sisters, Stella "Honey" Michalski and Edith Kuhar.
Mary is survived by her son, Steve P. Stanko of Lansing, Ohio; her two grandsons, Paul A. Stanko of Columbus, Ohio, Lance Cpl. Mike and his wife Karrie Stanko, stationed with the US Marine Corps at Twenty-Nine Palms, California; her great-granddaughter, "Lexee" Stanko of Twenty-Nine Palms, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Wilson Funeral Home, 920 National Road, Brookside, Ohio on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wolfhurst, with Monsignor Mark J. Forehlich, celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Blaine, Ohio.
Memorial contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the Wolfhurst Volunteer Fire Dept., PO Box 387, Lansing, Ohio 43934.

John Kubica
John Anthony Kubica, 60, of Phillips Road, Fairpoint, Ohio, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born Jan. 10, 1943 in Fairpoint, a son of the late John J. Kubica and Carina Cervelli Kubica.
He was a bookkeeper for Absolute Concrete in Morristown, former Ohio State tax agent, and bookkeeper for numerous coal companies. He attended Harbor of Hope Assembly of God in St. Clairsville and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Dingey Kubica; two daughters, Serena Therrien of Bridgeport, Angela Reardon and her husband, Steven of Akron; a son, John D. Kubica of Fairpoint; sister, Deanna Verardi of Fairpoint; four grandchildren: Alexis, Zachary, and Damian Therrien and Brandon Kyle Reardon.
Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held at 1 p.m., on Monday, with Pastors Dean Myers and Neil McFarland, officiating. Burial follows in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

Philip Scalzi
Philip R. Scalzi, 94, a long-time educator, died peacefully on Nov. 27, 2003 at Country Meadows, Bridgeville, Pa. Those who knew him for a lifetime or a few minutes were charmed by his engaging personality. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Leona Rotondo, and two brothers, Samuel and Frank. He was born Feb. 12, 1909 in Petrona, Calabria, Italy and immigrated with his mother, Vincenzina Rizzuti, through Ellis Island and joined his father, Joseph Scalzi, in Lafferty, Ohio. The family moved to Yorkville, Ohio and he graduated from Tiltonsville, (Ohio) High School in 1927. He graduated from Allegheny College, Meadville, Pa., in 1931 and returned to teach in Yorkville. He received a Master degree in administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 1948.
He had a distinguished career in the Yorkville school system, serving as teacher, principal and superintendent until his retirement in 1972. While at Yorkville, he had the unique opportunity to teach all four of his siblings and all four of his children. During his 40 years dedicated to education, he had a lasting influence on generations of students. In addition to his teaching career, he had many business interests including banking, insurance, retail, property development and management, and the coal industry. He was a founding director of the Community Savings Bank, Yorkville, Ohio and served in that capacity for 40 years. He was active in Boy Scouts, Little League and high school baseball, Lions Club, AARP and the Republican Party. He was a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Lions Club International.
He is survived by his sister, Connie Gala, Wheeling, W.Va.; brother, Jerry (Ginny), Seminole, Fl.; sister-in-law, Adelyn Rotondo DelVecchio, St. Clairsville, Ohio; daughter, Elaine Hopkins, Bratenahl, Ohio; daughter, Sylvia (Stan) Huntsman, Austin, Texas; son, P. Gregory (Joyce), St. Clairsville, Ohio; daughter, Beatrice (Thomas) Browand, Upper St. Clair, Pa.; and seven grandchildren; one great grandchild and seven nieces and nephews.
Arrangements by Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, Ohio.
Friends will be received Saturday 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home, Sunday at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 11 a.m., St. Mary's Church, Martins Ferry, Ohio with entombment immediately following in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry, Ohio, with Father Thomas Magary officiating.
The family suggests contributions to a worthy charity, in lieu of flowers, if you wish.

Richard Johnson
Richard A. Johnson, 81, of Bellaire, Ohio, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003 in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born Dec. 4, 1921 in Pa., a son of the late Anthony and Gladys Johnson.
Richard was retired from the former International Harvester Co., and was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Bennett Johnson in 1985; a brother Clifford Johnson and a half brother William Ball.
Surviving are two brothers, John of Hartville, Ohio, Kenneth of St. Louis, and a half brother, Thomas C. Ball of Canton.
Friends will be received at the Bauknecht Altmeyer Funeral Home, 441-37th St., Bellaire, on Tuesday, Dec. 2, from noon until time of services at 1 p.m., with Pastor Donald Cordery officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Bellaire.

David Crawford
David "Skeeter" Crawford, 54, of Dillonvale, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 at his home.
Skeeter was born Oct. 13, 1949 in Martins Ferry, son of Mary Wilma Dillon Crawford of Smithfield and the late Arthur John Crawford.
Skeeter was a coal miner with Consolidation Coal Company - McElroy Mine.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother Raymond Crawford and one granddaughter Mercedes Riley.
In addition to his mother, Skeeter is survived by one son Fred Crawford and his wife Jennifer of Dillonvale; three daughters, Cindy Riley and her husband Mark of Dillonvale, Glenda Ronevich and her husband Mike of Mt. Pleasant and Kimberly Blake and her husband Clayton of Moundsville, W.Va.; four brothers, John Dillon of Adena, Charles Crawford of Rayland, Leonard Crawford of Smithfield and Paul Crawford of Toronto; five sisters, Rosemary Wilson and Audrey Lou Hendershot, both of Piney Fork, Ruth Ann Rogers of Toronto, Georgie Crawford of Adena and Lucilla Crawford of Dillonvale; six grandchildren, Samantha, Natasha, Cody, Cory, Mariah and Morgan.
Friends are invited to attend visitation Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 154 Second St., Dillonvale, Ohio where services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Reverend Mary Jane Knapp officiating. Interment follows at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
