Jane P. Marshall

Jane P. Marshall, age 67 of North Canton, died on her birthday, Monday, Feb. 28 at Aultman Hospital.

She was born in Toledo. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and the North Canton Lady Elks.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joseph Howard Marshall, of the home; daughter, Elaine Patterson of North Canton; grandsons, Jason and Joshua Patterson and sister Irene Lindsey of Toledo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ceclia Szydlowski and sons Joseph and John Marshall.

A memorial service was held at Karlo and Sons Funeral Home with Fr. John Nentwick officiating. Private burial took place in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Toledo.

Mary Jane Palmer

Mary Jane Palmer, age 67, of Massillon died Monday, Feb. 28 at Aultman Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born Feb. 23, 1933 in Wolf Summit, W.Va. and had resided in the Massillon area most of her life. She was a food service worker for the Massillon State Hospital for many years.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Debra Lowe of Jackson Twp., a daughter, Nancy Killian of Rowlett, Texas, a stepson and daughter-in-law, Karl and Connie Palmer of Massillon, two brothers, Fred and Martin Flowers, both of Canton and a sister, Peggy Crock of Wallace, W.Va., six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Zana (Hughes) Flowers, her husband, James Palmer in 1997 and a brother Charles Flowers.

Funeral services were conducted at Heitger Funeral Service Jackson Chapel with Glenn E. Hawkins officiating. Interment took place in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens in North Canton.

Memorial contributions may be made the American Diabetes. Association, 225 W. Exchange St., Akron, Ohio 44302.

Peter Stevanov

Peter Stevanov, age 67, of Uniontown, died Sunday, Feb. 20 in St. Luke Lutheran Home.

He retired from Canton Drop Forge and was a member of Cottage Grove Evangelical Congregational Church where he taught Sunday School.

He was an avid fisherman and loved animals.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of St. Luke's for the care given to him.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia, of the home; brother Samuel of Georgia; sister Kathryn Pergins of Greentown and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund or to St. Luke Lutheran Home, 220 Applegrove St. NE, North Canton, Ohio 44720.

Dr. Robert Bowman

Dr. Robert R. Bowman, age 90, formerly of the Danbury in North Canton and more recently of Blacksburg, VA died early Friday morning in Blacksburg after a brief illness.

Born September 7, 1909 in Bucyrus, OH to Charles L. and Fannie M. (Rowley) Bowman.

Dr. Bowman served in the Army for three years with the 134th Field Artillery. He graduated in 1928 from Bucyrus High School.

Between 1928 and 1936 he attended Kalamazoo College, Northwestern University, University of Chicago, and University of Illinois, receiving degrees of B.S., and M.S. in Chemistry and Doctor of Dental Surgery.

Dr. Bowman was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and member of sessions in the 1940's.

He was also a lifelong member of the Stark County Dental Society, Ohio State Dental Society, and the American Dental Assoc. in Chicago, Canton Lodge # 60 F and AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish, Rite Valley of Canton, Tadmore Temple, Nazir Grotto, Masonic Luncheon Club, past member and president in 1967 of Canton Kiwanis Club of which he was honored recipient of the "George Washington Hour Medal" from the Freedom Foundation of Valley Forge at Gettysburg, PA for the Canton Kiwanis Community Program for the year 1967.

He was also a member of North Canton Elks Lodge #2029, Gyro Club of Canton, former member Lehman High School Booster Club, Brookside and Shady Hollow Country Clubs and Stark Farms Bureau.

Other memberships include Northwestern University Beta Thets Pi, Kalamazoo College Sherwood Honorary Society and University of Illinois, Nu Sigma Nu. Proceeded in death by dear and devoted wife of 61 years, Lyle Marie (Birch) Bowman on August 7, 1992.

Survivors include 2 daughters and son-in-law: Dr. Jon and Robin (Bowman) Nevis of Florence, AL, Thomas and Bonnie (Bowman) Nolan of Escondidod, CA. Son : Richard Bowman of Wallingford, CT, and son and daughter-in-law; Dr. Robert and Judy Bowman, Jr. of Riner, VA.

Funeral Services were on Monday, May 22, 2000 in Spiker-Foster-Shiver Funeral Home 4817 Cleveland Ave., NW. Interment was in North Lawn Cemetery.

Domingo Amador

LORAIN — Domingo Amador, 86, of Lorain, died suddenly on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Sutter Roseville Medical Center in Roseville, CA while visiting his daughters and family.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced when Domingo and his family return to Lorain. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain is handling the arrangements.

Rose M. Jachym (nee Kalo)

LORAIN — Rose M. Jachym (nee Kalo), 86 of Lorain, lost her battle with cancer, and passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side on Tuesday, April 7, 2009.

Rose was born June 4, 1922, in Lorain. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 63 years, Ed, and is leaving behind the most wonderful memories for all of her family.

Rose was lively, vibrant and smart, fun loving, spirited and full of good advice. She was the kind of wife and mother everyone wants. Rose was the glue that held the family together. Rose's childhood was rich with eight sisters and brothers of Romanian heritage.

Rose is survived by her loving family; husband Edward; son, Dr. Edward T. (Margaret) of Mansfield; a daughter, Chris (Albert) Jachym-Sentzel of Huron. Rose had an exceptional relationship with her brother, Thomas R. Kalo and his son, Tommy Kalo and wife Mana. She will be greatly missed by the Kalo and Jachym families along with her surviving brothers and sisters, Ann Williams, John Kalo, and Thomas R. Kalo. She is leaving behind many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Florence (nee Mocha) Kalo; brothers and sisters, Mary Vance, Lewis Kalo, George Kalo, Florence Ernst and Daniel Kalo.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00-8:00 pm in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Saturday at 9:45 am followed by Liturgy of the Word at 10:00 am at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain. Rev. Fr. David Novak will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Rd., Elyria, Ohio 44035.

LORAIN -- Albert J. Bodmann, 90, of Lorain, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, in Golden Acres Lorain County Home, Amherst, following a lengthy illness.

AMHERST -- Alma Jean "Jeannie" Thornton (nee Cole), 82, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Elyria, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Dallas, following a long illness with cancer.

NORTH OLMSTED -- Charles F. Rath, 84, of North Olmsted, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at home.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Francis Edwards, 75, died Oct. 1, 2007, in Charlotte, N.C., at Five Oaks Hospice Nursing Center.

WELLINGTON -- Sophie Susan Doty, 90, of Wellington, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at Elms Nursing Home, Wellington, following a lengthy illness.

AVON -- Franklin Paul Shenk, 92, of Avon, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at the Gardens of French Creek Assisted Living facility in Avon.

Barbara Joyce Sugaski
WELLINGTON -- Barbara Joyce "Bunny" Sugaski, 51, of Wellington, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland, after an illness with cancer. She was born Aug. 20, 1956 in Bay Village and lived in the Wellington area since 1990. Mrs. Sugaski was an avid reader, hunter and motorcycle rider and an active member of American Legion Post 8 Auxiliary, Wellington.
