Rose Murial (Derby) Bowlin
Rose Murial (Derby) Bowlin, age 89, of Norwalk, died Monday, January 19, 2004 at Twilight Gardens Nursing Center in Norwalk.

She was born February 1, 1914 in Milan, Ohio. She attended College in St. Paul, Minnesota and moved to Norwalk in 1950. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Norwalk and Queen Esther Chapter #15.

She is survived by her daughter, Alice Broughton of Eubank, KY; son, Stewart Bowlin of Norwalk, OH; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl F. Bowlin in 1985; parents, Kenneth Derby in 1975 and May Derby in 1950; son in infancy, Stephen; brothers, Robert Derby and Judge Donald Derby in 1991.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. at the Evans & Groff Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. The Rev. Paul Lamb will officiate.

Burial will follow at Milan Cemetery in Milan, Ohio.

Dawson Boyd
Dawson Boyd, age 66, of Norwalk, died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, after an unexpected illness.

He was born May 21, 1937 in Dana, Kentucky. He worked at Ford Motor Co. for many years as an inspector. He served in the US Air Force from 1955 until 1959.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy A. (Phillips) Boyd of Norwalk; mother, Emma (Hall) Boyd of Frankfort, KY; sons, Noah Lee Boyd of Sullivan, OH, Dawson Boyd Jr. of South Amherst, OH and Charles “Bud” Boyd of Elyria, OH; step-children, Ron and Gary Butler, Okie Conn, Connie Ezell, and Teresa Allgauer; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Brenda Justice and Glema Collins, both of Frankfort, KY; brother, Ray Boyd of Frankfort, KY.

He was preceded in death by his father, Delza Boyd in 1972.

Friends may call on Monday from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9 P.M. at the Evans & Groff Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The body will lie in state Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. at Mount Harvest Church of God, 150 Ohio 113, Milan, Ohio. The Revs. Carl Woodyard, Gene Roberts and Ricky Akers will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk with military honors.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be sent to one’s favorite charity.

Gerald Brant
Gerald Brant, age 60, of New London, died Friday, May 07, 2004 at Akron City Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born February 5, 1944 in Sandusky, Ohio. He was a truck driver for Bell Dairy, West Baking, W.L. Mead, Yellow Freight and R & L Trucking. In January 2004 he received the million mile safety award at R & L Trucking, after 10 years of driving. He served in the Army Reserves from 1963 until 1967.

He enjoyed cooking, traveling out West, fishing, collecting guns and was a proficient fast-draw, and spending time with his grandchildren whom he dearly loved.

He is survived by his wife, Carol (Hartke) Brant of New London; children and their spouses, Ann-Marie (Alan) Kerr of Bellevue, John (Susie) Brant of Huron, and Scott Brant of Norwalk; Step children, Tina (Cecil) Ochs of Dieterich, IL and Thomas Board of New London; four grandchildren, Corey and Katelyn Henning, Aledia Brant and Madison Brant; step-grandchildren, Justin, Tabitha, Amie and Laura Michels, Lea and Dylan Board; numerous nieces and nephews.

Sisters, Norma (Paul) Miller of Norwalk and Laura (Paul) Power of Sturgis, MI; brothers, Gary (Ginny) Brant of Norwalk, Donald (Mary Cooper) Brant of Wakeman and Ronald (Carol) Brant of Norwalk;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Brant Sr. and Irene J (Good) Link; step-father, Kenneth “Shorty” Link; sister, Mary Louise Shrader.

Friends may call on Monday from 2 – 5 P.M. at the Evans & Groff Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk, follow by a funeral at 5:00 P.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Paul Miller will officiate. Burial will be private.

Joan E. (Richards) Balluck
Joan E. (Richards) Balluck, age 75, of Norwalk, died Thursday, January 13, 2005 at Norwalk Memorial Home in Norwalk.

She was born June 17, 1929, in Youngstown to the late Samuel and Frieda (Brobander) Richards.

She received her bachelor's and master's degree in education from Youngstown University and taught elementary school for more than 30 years. She began her teaching career in the Cleveland schools and then taught in the country of Venezuela. Returning to Struthers, she taught both first and second grade at the Fifth Street and Sexton Street schools before retiring. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers.

She is survived by her children, Allison Lynn (Chris) Reagan of Norwalk and Kyle Richard (Leah) Balluck of Burke, Va.; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death on Nov. 13, 1991 by her husband, Leonard, whom she married Feb. 3, 1962.

Friends may call from 9 to 10:15 a.m. prior to the 10:30 service Saturday at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers.

Donald E. Weilnau
Donald E. Weilnau, age 68, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Firelands Regional Medical Center’s Main Campus in Sandusky.

He was born March 19, 1936 in Milan, Ohio, and was a 1954 graduate of Milan High School. He served in the US Army as a General’s Honor Guard, and was a lifetime member of the Milan American Legion Post 527.

He retired from the Ohio Turnpike Commission after many years of service. Mr. Weilnau was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching all sporting events. He was a member of the Corvette Club and the Toledo Zoo.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Mark Mankin of Avon, Wendy and Andrew MacDonald of Berlin Heights, and Hope and Timothy Barker of Milan; fiancé, Jeanette Robinson of Norwalk; nine grandchildren and a great-grandson; 1st wife, JoAnn Sexton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Catherine (Kramb) Weilnau.

Friends may call from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9 P.M. Friday at the Evans & Groff Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street in Norwalk and 10:00 AM Saturday until time of service at 11:00 AM at St. John United Church of Christ, 2712 Mason Road, Oxford Township. The Rev. Edgar Shelly will officiate. A military graveside service will be conducted at the church Cemetery, followed by a reception for family and friends.

Dellene P. Oglesby
Dellene P. Oglesby, age 66, of Norwalk, died Sunday, August 05, 2007 at her residence.

She was born February 26, 1941 in Sandusky, Ohio and graduated in 1960 from Norwalk High School. She was a homemaker for many years and in 1981 began working as a teacher’s aid at Christie Lane School, retiring in 2000. She was an avid painter with oils, however her true joy was spending time with her grandchildren, and working with children at Christie Lane.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Phillip Oglesby II of Norwalk; daughters and son-in-law, Teresa “Tracey” and Mark McIntyre of Blacklick, OH and Kimberly Oglesby of Chicago, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Maei Oglesby III of Norwalk and Sean and Tarina Oglesby of Norwalk; nine grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; and a sister, Constance “Connie” Smith of Norwalk; brother-in-law, Rufes Roldan of Sandusky, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert Woods and Christine Woods; brother, Delbert Woods Jr and a granddaughter, Tara Oglesby.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the Norwalk Alliance Church, 2755 US Route 250 South, Norwalk. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Norwalk.

Kenneth Brewster
Kenneth Brewster, age 68, of Norwalk, died suddenly in his home on Monday afternoon, November 12, 2007.

He was born April 13, 1939 in Akron, OH. He graduated from the University of Akron in 1962 with a degree in Psychology. Kenneth served his country in the Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of 1st lieutenant in 1969. Pursuing his goal of serving others, he worked for the State of Ohio in the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation. Relocating from Akron to Norwalk in 1984, he joined the Erie-Huron Community Action Council in the Headstart program, until retiring in 2001.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Enid (Jonas) Brewster of Norwalk; his daughter, Erika (Todd) Gault; his son, Todd Brewster, owner of EM’s Software Plus; his daughter-in-law, Pam Brewster; and his grandson, Allan Beasley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, T. Wayne and Evelyn Brewster.

Friends may call on Thursday from 5 – 8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A funeral will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. The Pastor Jason Voelp and Chris Thomas will officiate. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 2:00 P.M. at the Zion Cemetery in Butler, Ohio.

Kim E. Risner
Kim E. Risner, 51, of Norwalk, died Friday, November 09, 2007 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, after an extended illness.

He was born December 13, 1955 in Norwalk and was a 1974 graduate of Norwalk High School, where he was a four year letterman in baseball. He joined the US Air Force in 1975, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Business and Management from Golden State University in San Francisco, CA with honors. He received many medals and was a decorated military officer of 10 years. In 1992 he began working for the federal government as a loan specialist for the Small Business Administration in Washington D.C., and returned to Norwalk in the past six months. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Norwalk, was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed reading and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Joeliza (Sanico) Risner of Norwalk; daughter, Kyla Ann Risner of Norwalk, parents, Ollie and Afria (Green) Risner of Norwalk; brothers and sisters, Larry K. (Robin) Risner of Norwalk, Keith Risner of New London, Karen Gonzalez of Cape Coral, FL, Susie (Jeff) Brandts of Sandusky, Jerry Risner of Norwalk and Steven (Dana) Risner of Norwalk; three nephews and a niece.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2 – 5 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 10:30 A.M. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main Street, Norwalk. The Rev. David Cirata, associate pastor of the church, will officiate. Entombment will be at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron followed by a reception at the Norwalk American Legion.

Ruth L. Fogg
Ruth Lucille (Kenefick) Fogg, age 78, of Norwalk, died Tuesday, November 06, 2007 at Providence Care Center in Sandusky.

She was born January 11, 1929 in Plantsville, Connecticut and was a 1947 graduate of Lewis High School. She moved in 1968 to Norwalk, where she has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a past member of the Garden Club and the lunch bunch ladies in Norwalk.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce (Debbie) Fogg of Southington, CT, K.C. (Jeanne) Fogg of Noblesville, IN and Mark (Laurie) Fogg of Sandusky; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford H. Fogg in 2002, parents, Joseph and Leah (Abair) Kenefick; brothers, Donald and Francis Kenefick; and a sister, Wylva Fontana.

Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until time of a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd., Norwalk. The Rev. Adrian N. Doll, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
