Corene A Kiser
(April 28, 1939 - April 20, 2012)
Corene A. Kiser (nee: Bryant), 72 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 28, 1939 in Lorain, Ohio. Corene was raised and had lived most of her life in Lorain. She attended Lorain High School up until the deterioration of her mothers health which necessitated her leaving school to provide care for her mother.

She was employed at Lorain Product-Reltec/Emerson for twenty-seven years before retiring in 1998. Corene also provided baby-sitting for her family and friends. She was very proud of the fact that even though she did not drive, she was very dependable and able to secure transportation when needed. Corene was known for being money wise and was often teased by her family that she probably had the first dollar she ever made. She was a former member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church in Lorain where loved to sing in the choir. Corene loved to listen to the televangelist Dr. Charles Stanley and Pastor Joel Osteen. She was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians as well as Cleveland Browns during football season. She loved to play the Ohio Lottery.

Survivors include her husband of twenty-seven years Raymond Kiser; step children; step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brother John William Franklin Bryant; sisters, twin Lorene Mae Bryant, Jean LaVonne Lescher-Isenberg-Kimble (nee: Bryant), Sarah Christine Sharpless-Box (nee: Bryant), Margie Susan Williams-Miller (nee: Bryant), and Tempa Cleo Vanderpool (nee: Bryant); her father James Bryant; mother Cora Inus (nee Richmond) and her stepfather Joseph Miechur.

Friends may call Thursday, April 26, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.

James "Swede" Marsh, Jr.
(February 17, 1928 - April 23, 2012)
U.S. Veteran
James "Swede" Marsh, Jr., 84 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at New Life Hospice Resident Center, in Lorain following a short illness.

He was born February 17, 1928 in Highland Park, Illinois where he was raised in Rockford, Illinois before coming to Ohio in 1941. He had made his home in Amherst since 1974.

Jim proudly enlisted in the United States Navy in 1941 and during WWII was transitioned to the U.S. Coast Guard serving in the Atlantic on the USS Bib. Jim was employed at E&L Transport for thirty two years before retiring in 1990 as a layout welder. He was also employed for Cleveland Tank Plant-Republic Steel in Cleveland and the American Ship Building in Lorain. Jim was a highly religious man who maintained a strong Christian faith which began with his Lutheran upbringing. A sixty three year member of the Masons. Jim was 32nd Degree Mason of the Parkside Lodge #736 in Brooklyn, Ohio as well as a member of the Cleveland Al Koran Shrine Temple. He was also a charter member of the Amherst Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1662, Amherst American Legion Post #118 (Elmer Johnson Post) and the Amherst Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #1442. Jim loved cross country motorcycling and was a former member of the Blue Nights and Blue Shield riding clubs. He and his wife enjoyed their travels that took them to nearly every state in the union. His hobbies were many but included metal fabricating, woodworking, and restoring and refurbishing anything with a engine. Jim also was a licensed pilot.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years Norma Jean Marsh (nee: Wilson); step son and his wife Larry and Julie Peters of Oregon City, Oregon; step daughter and her husband Debbie (nee Peters) and Ken Dumke of Wakeman; grandsons Eric, Jonathan and Kyle Peters, and Kenny, Jason, Aaron Dumke; five great grandchildren; and his brother Richard Albert Marsh of North Ridgeville, Ohio as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Sr., and Florence Elsie Marsh (nee: Olson); his sisters and their husbands, Virginia and Joe Bruster, Mae and Bill Miller and Betty and Ken Goodin; Sister in law Donna Marsh.

Friends may call Friday, April 27, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., by the Parkside Lodge #736. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor of Saint Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst will officiate. Burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery, Twinsburg, Ohio.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice Center;5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035 or to the building fund of Saint Peter United Church of Christ; 582 Church Street, Amherst, OH 44001.

Elizabeth Ruth Kinloch
(May 10, 1921 - April 24, 2012)
Elizabeth Ruth Kinloch (nee: Conley), 90 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Independence Village in Avon Lake following a brief illness.

She was born May 10, 1921, in West Lafayette, Ohio where she was raised until the age of nine. Elizabeth lived in Youngstown before moving to Amherst in 1961. She remained a resident of Amherst until moving to Avon Lake one year ago.

She was employed and at Carnegie Steel in Youngstown for eleven years before retiring in 1950. Elizabeth also worked at General Electric in Youngstown. She was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst. Elizabeth was an artist in nature, and loved oil painting. Her hobbies also included traveling, craft shows, antiquing and reading.

Survivors include her son and his wife, George William "Bill" and Jan Kinloch II of Vermilion; and her sister, Marjorie Rankin of Kansas City, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, George William Kinloch, on December 23, 2009; and her parents, Edward and Inez Conley (nee: Newton).

Friends may call Friday, April 27, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Burial will be in Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, 7445 Deer Trail, Lorain, OH.

Jessie B Leibee
(February 27, 1921 - April 29, 2012)
Jessie B. Leibee (nee: Tiller), 91 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home.

She was born February 27, 1921 in Varney, West Virginia. For most of her life, Lorain had been Jessie's home.

Her primary focus in life was that of being a homemaker. She was a member of Christian Life Church in Lorain. Jessie loved to cook and took great pride in teaching her husband Johnie how to cook. Not only did she love to cook but she was excellent at cake decorating and made many cakes for special events in her family and for friends. Her greatest joy was her family and the time she spent with them.

Jessie leaves to cherish her memory her husband of forty-seven years Johnie R. Leibee; sons Pastor James Justice, Pastor Wallace Justice and his wife Bonnie all of Lorain, Dale Justice and his wife Wanda of Canfield, Ohio; daughters Elizabeth BumGardner and her husband Robert of Lorain, Barb McMasters of Mentor on the Lake, step daughter Deborah Leibee of Fairbanks, Alaska; seventeen grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her sister Essie Varney of Varney, West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters; and her parents Wallace and Betty Tiller (nee: Justice).

Friends may call Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Christian Life Church of God; 3559 West Erie Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Christian Life Church of God. Pastor James Justice, her son, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

Aaron Michael Cobb
(January 6, 1986 - April 27, 2012)
Aaron Michael Cobb, 26 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012.

He was born January 6, 1986 in Grand Junction, Colorado. Aaron was a lifetime resident of Amherst.

He was employed at Oberlin Ultimate Landscaping. Aaron loved being outdoors, whether it be fishing at the local ponds, playing golf or working outside. He loved being with family and friends.

Survivors include his son James P'Simer of Amherst; his parents Michael and Kim Cobb (nee: Offineer) of Amherst; brothers Michael Cobb, Jr. and David Jones; sisters Candi Cobb (Dee) all of Lorain; and Julie Cobb (Brandon) of Elyria; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A reception for family and friends will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 1-5 pm at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1662; 165 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst.

William L. White "Whitey"
(August 16, 1943 - May 2, 2012)
William L. White "Whitey", 68 years of age, and a resident of Amherst Township, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at his home following a eight month illness.

He was born August 16, 1943 in Lorain, Ohio. William was raised in Lorain before moving to Amherst Township where he had made his home for over thirty years.

William owned and operated his body shop "Fender Mender" on Middle Ridge Road for over thirty years. He was previously employed at American Ship Building in Lorain. William loved being outdoors, camping, racing, bowling, and four wheeling on his ATV.

Survivors include his wife of seventeen years Greta Elaine White (nee: James): his sons Michael White of Lorain, Marvin White and his wife Terresa of Sumpter, S.C.; his daughter and her husband Marie and Robert Brown of Amherst; step son Jason Hume of Amherst Township; seven grandchildren; sisters Cill McGann of Sheffield Lake, Sharon O'Neal of Sheffield, Martha Lowson of Amherst Twp., Sherry Baughman of Sheffield, Barbara Collins of IN., Virginia Freeman of TN., Jean Gray of Westlake, brothers Raymond Poe of Vermilion, Jim Longbrake of Las Vegas, NV., and Delano "Jeep" Poe of Sheffield.

He was preceded in death by his father William L. White; mother Evalane Poe (nee: Wagoner) and by his step father Delano Poe.

Friends may call Saturday, May 5, 2012, from 1-3 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held following visitation on Saturday evening at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Don Resecker, will officiate.

Epifania Pagan Ortiz
LORAIN — Epifania Pagan Ortiz, age 102, of Lorain, died on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake of natural causes.

She was born on July 3, 1907 in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico.

She came to Lorain in 1998 with her granddaughter, Nilda Perez (husband Ramon Perez Negron) and her great grandchildren (Raymond Young, wife, Ruthie Cabrera "Young" and his children; Moises, Raymond, Jacob, David, Nathan, Benjamin, and Aidyn Young) and great granddaughter (Emmy Reyes and husband Antonio Reyes and their children, Antonio Isaias, Salina Faith, Anisa Grace Reyes). Also Nilda adopted two children, Esther and Joshua Perez.

Whoever remembered her to be the pilar of the family, the woman who took care of the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always on the go and very feisty and full of life. There was never a time that she turn down a challenge.

She made sure everyone in the family was taken care of and never let anything get to her.

She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and was a wonderful hand seamstress and a great cook. She was a member of Iglesia Pentecostal Dios Inc. and was very strong in her faith.

She was also loved and cared for by the staff at Main Street Care Center where she spent her last years and just celebrated her last birthday.

We love you "Fanny." You finished the race and now you rest in peace.

She is survived by her daughter, Ramona Vidal of Lorain and Alta

Gracia in Palm Beach Florida, also 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, whom she spent much time.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Mercedes Pagan (Ortiz) son Damian Vidal, daughter, Munserrate Brown and great grandson, Dywie Young.

The family is holding private services. The Dovin Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
