Helen Bennett
Helen (nee Beitler) Bennett, 89 of Graniteville, South Carolina died on Saturday, November 19, 2005, at the Aiken Regional Medical Center unexpectedly.
Mrs. Bennett was born in Canton, Ohio on March 6, 1916. She was a certified practical nurse. While living in Lorain, she was a housekeeper for Dr. Robert Benz and former Judge Floyd Harris.
She enjoyed sewing, flowers, gardening, her animals, and crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by her daughter Jeanette E. Hartley of Graniteville, SC, son David L. Bennett of Lorain, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Bennett in 1968, son Donald Bennett in 2004, parents Edward and Frances (nee Smith) Beitler, brothers John, Bill and Edward Beitler, sisters Mary Swisher and Elizabeth Snyder.
Friends may call on Friday, November 25, 2005, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 26, 2005, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Edward J. Luca officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 26 at the Pleasant Valley Church Cemetery, 4152 Mt. Pleasant Road, NW, North Canton, Ohio 44720-5622.

Evelyn Jean Hoff
Evelyn Jean Hoff, 43 of Lorain died on Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH following a brief illness.
Ms. Hoff was born on September 17, 1961 in Lorain, OH and was a lifelong resident. She was a 1980 graduate of Lorain High School. She was employed by AmeriTemp assigned to Shiloh Industries as a parts handler.
Ms. Hoff loved animals and had worked for several animal clinics. She also had rescued several animals and cared for them at her home. In additon to loving animals, she enjoyed country music.
She is survived by her daughters Jennifer Penny of Lorain, Christine Penny at home, son, Roy Penny of Lorain, 2 grandchildren, mother Evelyn C (nee Morris) Hoff of Lorain, brother William Hoff of Lorain, half-Sister Diana Hoff of Vermilion, half-Brothers Dave and Russ Hoff both of Vermilion, Richard Hoff Sr of Missouri.
Ms. Hoff is preceded in death by her father Offutt Hoff in 2000.
Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH, on Tuesday, June 7, 2005 from 11:00 am untill funeral time at 1:00 pm.
Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township. Following the services the family will hold a reception at the Calvary Baptist Church, 550 Sixth Street, Lorain.
Memorial contributions may be made at any Lormet Credit Union branch to the Evelyn J. Hoff Memorial Fund.

Roy D. Stump
Roy D. "Red" Stump, 80 of Lorain died early Friday morning December 9, 2005 at Community Health Partners and Surgical Center in Lorain following a long illness.
Mr. Stump was born in Grantsville, WV on January 3, 1925. He was a US Army veteran, serving in France, Belgium and Holland during WWII. He served from 1943-1946 as a Pvt with the 787th Anti-aircraft battalion Companies A & B. He received three Purple Hearts, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and World War II Victory Ribbon.
He moved to Lorain in 1960 and was retired in 1983 from Ford Motor Corp-Brookpark Plant. He worked as a repairman in the Engine plants 1 & 2 and retired with 33.5 years service. He received his GED from Clearview in 2002. He also attended Emmanuel United Methodist Church. After his retirement from Ford he worked in security at the former Still Country Bar on SR 113 for 15 years.
Mr. Stump drove a race car for several years at Lorain Motor Speedway. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching professional wrestling. He was a member of the VFW Post 1079 in Elyria, American Legion Post 30 in Lorain and UAW 1250 Brookpark.
He is survived by his wife Jean B. (nee Hupfer) Mielcarek Stump to whom he was married on March 23, 1990, step daughters: Pam J. Cothran, Jean B. Barger, Michelle A. Varady all of Lorain, Mary L. Clark of Clarksville TN, Margaret P. Butcher of Columbus, step sons: Steven E Mielcarek of Columbus, Michael E Mielcarek of Lorain, 12 step grandchildren, 4 great step grandchildren, sisters Alice Pearl Graham of Elyria and Gladys Abbey of Norwalk, OH.
Mr. Stump is preceded in death by his parents Sherman & Cora J. (nee Deems) Stump and 8 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call Monday, December 12, 2005 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 10:30 am in the funeral home with Rev. Darlene Robinson, pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township, OH with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 30, VFW Post 451 and VFW Post 1079.

Odelia F. Berki
Odelia F. Berki (nee Young), 79, of Lorain, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Ohio Extended Care Center following a long illness.
Mrs. Berki was born on September 19, 1925 in Lorain, OH living here most of her life. She was a 1943 graduate of Lorain High School. From 1973 to 1991she lived in Sun City, Arizona.
She was a member of the Senior Center. She enjoyed crocheting and was a seamstress.
Mrs. Berki worked as a bank teller at Wells Fargo in Arizona retiring in 1991.
She is survived by her son, Robert J. Berki of Lorain, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and brother William Young of Lorain, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Berki is preceded in death by her husband, Antone J. Berki, in 1979, her parents William and Florence (nee Smith) Young, and sisters Louise Boracz, Caroline Thiels and Lillian Post.
There will be no funeral home services for Mrs. Berki.
Schwartz, Spence, Boyer and Cool, 1124 West 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio is in charge of the arrangements.

Lenora R. Holfelder
Lenora R. Holfelder age 80, died on Friday, December 30th, 2005 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain, OH.
Lenora was born on September 11, 1925 in Lorain, OH.
She was a Registered Nurse having graduated from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ.
Lenora is survived by her three daughters, Kimberly Halitzka, of Lorain, Raetta Maurer, of Marion, OH and Marti Stich, of Berea and her son, Fred, of Wellington; 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her Husband Fred in 1997, Parents Dr. Myron and Goldie (nee Homan) Kishman, Brother Dr. William Kishman and an infant son, Brian.
Friends may call at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer and Cool Home for Funerals in Lorain, OH, on Sunday January 1, 2006 from 12:00 Noon until time of the services at 1 P.M. with her Grandson Rev. David Maurer officiating.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township.
Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 12200 Fairhill Road, Cleveland, OH, 44120.

Lulu E. Turlip
Lulu E. Turlip, (nee LeMasters) 89, of Lorain died on Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph after a brief illness.
Mrs. Turlip was born November 9, 1915, and was a life long resident of Lorain.
She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
She had been a machine operator at Standyne retiring in 1977 with 42 years of service.
Mrs. Turlip is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edward M. Turlip, daughter Betty Hellinger of Lorain, 3 grandchildren, 6 great granddaughters and 4 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Anna (nee Bair) LeMasters, son Earl E. Hellinger Jr, in 1937, daughter Eloise Lute in 2003, sisters Mary Bailey and Ruth Howdyshell and brothers Clark LeMasters and Roy LeMasters.
Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 West 5th Street, Lorain, OH, on Saturday, July 2, 2005, from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jimmy Madsen, co-pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.
Mrs.Turlip will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Twp., OH.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The American Stroke Foundation, 11902 Lowell, Suite 104, Overland Park, KS 66213.

Dorthea Mae Horne
Miss Dorthea Mae Horne, age 85 died on Friday, December 30, 2005, at New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph in Lorain, OH.
Miss Horne was born on June 17, 1920, in Lorain, OH and was a life long resident of the area. She had attended Oberlin Business College.
Miss Horne had been employed as a clerk for the B & O Railroad. She was a member of Cornerstone Methodist Church where she had served as financial secretary, and was a member of Queen City Chapter of Eastern Star.
She was a fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, enjoyed golf and bowling.
Miss Horne is survived by sister Roxie Lee Teare of Toledo, 8 Nieces, and 3 Nephews.
She was preceded by her parents Harold H. and Bernice (nee Billingsley) Horne.
Friends may call Schwartz, Spence, Boyer and Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1 P.M. with Rev. Dale Warrick, pastor of Cornerstone Methodist Church officiating.
Miss Horne will be buried at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Township, OH.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, PO Box 528, Lorain, Ohio 44052.

Jonce R. Trent
Jonce R. Trent, 79 of Lorain died early Friday morning at his home following a long illness.
Mr. Trent was born in Mingo County, WV on February 14, 1926, and moved to Lorain in the 1950s.
He was a retired crane switcher for US Steel. He retired in 1980 after 30 years service. He was a member of Local # 1104, steel workers union. While living in West Virginia he had worked as a coal miner.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and collecting model cars. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years. He was the neighborhood bike repair and parts supplier, providing both new and used bicycles and parts to the area children.
He is survived by his wife Hazel M. (nee Harvey) Trent to whom he was married on September 4, 1946, daughter: Patricia M. Laughlin, Phyllis A. Armstrong both of Lorain, sons: James E. Trent, Jerry L. Trent, Jonce Ray Trent all of Lorain, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren and brother: Herbert Trent of McConnellsville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a son: Charles R. Trent in 2003, his parents: Charles and Meadie (nee Mounts) Trent, Brothers Joe Trent, Bud Trent, Johnny Trent, Frank Trent, Arvin Trent, sisters Jane Ramos, Pearl Trent and Evelyn Trent.
Friends may call Monday, November 14, 2005, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at the funeral home with Rev. Matthew Darrin, pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township, OH.
