Marion LaBoe
Marion LaBoe, 80 (nee Davi) of Elyria died on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at her home, unexpectedly.
Mrs. LaBoe was born in Battlecreek, MI on March 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Frank and Jennie (Rocco) Davi. She moved to the Lorain area in the early 1950's.
She worked as a homemaker.
She was very active with the ladies group at Elyria Retirement Community.
Mrs. LaBoe is survived by sons Bruce D LaBoe of Elyria, Terry A LaBoe of Zephyrhill, FL, gradchildren Christian and Erin LaBoe, sisters Katie Davi of East Lansing, MI., Tina Daleska of Huntley, IL., brothers Sam Davi and Charles Davi both of Grand Rapids, MI.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard E. LaBoe in 1992, and sisters Mildred Davi, Ann Tootell and Jean Johnson.
Friends may call on Monday, August 11, 2008 from 6:00 pm until services at 8:00 pm in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
Burial will be Tuesday, August 12, at 11:00 AM in Elmwood Cemetery Lorain, OH.

Guiseppe "Joe" Russo
"MR SOFTEE ICE CREAM MAN "
Guiseppe "Joe" Russo, 78 of Lorain, known in the community for the last 49 years as "Mr. Softee Ice Cream Man" died on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 unexpectedly at the EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria.
Mr. Russo was born in Lorain, OH on September 23, 1930, the son of the late Filippo and Maria (nee Barbarino) Russo. He was a graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1949-B. For 49 years, he owned and operated the Mister Softee Ice Cream truck in the Lorain community to the delight of generations of children.
He attended Church of the Nazarene Amherst. He loved the out-of-doors, enjoyed attending the Ohio State Fair for 49 years, and attending local fairs and festivals. He was especially fond of the time he spent with his grandson. He was also a "tinkerer" enjoyed fixing and repairing things.
On July 13, 1952 he married Carol A. (nee Zimmerman) Russo, who survives. Also surviving is a son John P (Carol) Russo of Lorain, grandson Jonathan M. Russo, three step grandchildren and 8 great step grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Alfio Russo.
Friends may call on Thursday, October 9, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9, in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
Funeral Services in the Funeral Home will be Friday, October 10, 2008 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Richard Henry officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the family through the funeral home.

Charlotte E. Ruth
Charlotte E. Ruth, 75 (nee Rust) died February 5, 2008 in Amherst Manor Nursing Home in Amherst following a long illness.
Mrs. Ruth was born in Elyria, OH on October 5, 1932, the daughter of the late Walter C. and Ethel E (Brubaker) Rust. She was a graduate of Clearview HS class of 1951 and the M B Johnson School of Nursing in Elyria in 1954. She taught nursing and worked for several area physicians. She also worked for 17 years as the office manager for North Ohio Heart Center in 1997.
She was past president of the Professional Association of Health Care Office Managers, a member of the Social Order of Beauceant, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, member and past worthy matron of the Avon Lake Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. She was also an alumni of Leadership Lorain, Class of 1992.
Mrs. Ruth was a member of First Congregational Church of Avon Lake Avon Lake, Ohio.
She is survived by sister Martha Phillips of Peru, IN., Virginia Rust of Northeast PA., Barbara Rust of Wauwatosa, WI, brother Douglas Rust of Elyria, and 11 nieces and one nephew.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Jack W. Ruth, who died November 18, 2007.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 11:30 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Home Services, Inc., Living Memorial in the name of Barbara Rust, 600 Hoffman Drive, Watertown, WI 53094 or to the Shiners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229-3015.
Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mary Rose Burgan
Mary Rose Burgan, 90, (nee Toth) of Elyria and formerly of Lorain died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria following a brief illness.
Mrs. Burgan was born in Lorain on June 8, 1918, the daughter of the late George and Mary (nee Mesko) Toth. She was a member of the Tower Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Burgan volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and was an active participant in the arts and crafts programs at the Wesleyan Village. She had been employed many years ago at the J C Penny Store as a sales clerk.
She is survived by a brother John (Joyce) Toth of Garden City, MI. and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 1:30 PM in the Wesleyan Village Chapel, 807 West Ave. Elyria, with Chaplain Beth McKee and the Rev. Dalton Love officiating.
Burial will be in the Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to Wesleyan Village, 807 West Ave., Elyria, Ohio 44035.
The Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain is handling the arrangements.

Eileen Choate
Eileen Choate, 82, (nee Howe) of Lorain died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at Anchor Lodge Retirement Village in Lorain following a long illness.
Mrs. Choate was born in Knoxville, PA on May 30, 1926 the daughter of the late Dallas and Edrica (nee Weaver) Howe. She graduated from Knoxville High School in Knoxville in 1944. She continued her education at the Elim Bible College in Hornell, New York becoming an ordained minister in 1947.
She moved to Lorain and served the Wings of Faith Church, she continued her ministry when her church merged with the Bethel Church of Lorain. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
Mrs. Choate is survived by her daughters, Patricia (David) Akosi of Lorain, Donna F (Mike) Cobos of Avon Lake, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, brothers, Roy (Clara) Howe of Lawrenceville, PA, Richard (Elizabeth) Howe of Elkland, PA, Larry Howe of Horseheads, NY, and a sister Joan (Joe) Orth of Westfield, PA.
She is preceded in death by her husband Fulton "Frenchie" Choate in 1992, a daughter Gloria J Miller in 2008, a grandson Christobal Cobos in 1991, and sister Berta Latshaw.
Friends may call on Sunday, December 28, 2008 from 4-8 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
Funeral Services will be in the funeral home on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Lorri Bandagski, pastor of the Bethel Chapel, officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon Lake.

John Simsik
John Simsik, 73 of Lorain died Saturday morning, February 16, 2008 at his home following a long illness.
Mr. Simsik was born in Elyria, OH on November 28, 1934, the son of the late John T. and Cecelia M. (nee Katonak) Simsik.
He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church Lorain, OH.
After 43 years service, he retired as a rigger from USS Kobe Steel in Lorain.
Mr. Simsik was a member of Ashland Erie Game Club, D & L Golf League, and the Steel Workers Golf League. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, poker, camping, traveling, and especially his granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife Sarah J. (nee Stipanovich) Simsik to whom he was married on Feb. 9, 1957, his daughters Lucinda "Cindy" M. ( David) Patterson of Sheffield Lake, Wendy S. (Nandy) Ortiz of Cleveland, Kathy A (Steve) Martin of Lorain, his granddaughters Jennifer L. Krumheuer, Erin A Martin, Gina F. Stack, Emily R. Stack, Sava C. Ortiz, Melissa N. Ortiz, sister Carol West of Vermilion and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Sara J Stack in 2000 and a brother Karl Simsik.
Friends may call Monday, February 18, 2008 from 5-9 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 11: 00 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Jimmy Madsen, co-pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.

Vera Grace St. Aubin
Vera Grace St. Aubin, 92, (nee McNary) of Lorain passed away Monday, September 15, 2008 at Kingston of Vermilion, in Vermilion after a brief illness.
She was born in Lorain on December 12, 1916, the daughter of the late Frank A. and Allie (nee Pollinger) McNary.
In 1981, she retired from Lorain Products in Lorain after 26 years as an assembler.
Mrs. St. Aubin was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church serving on the Altar Guild and was a Sunday School Teacher.
Her hobbies included music, movies, going to the theater, and watching the Cleveland Indians. She enjoyed bowling until the age 75.
She is survived by a son Jeff A. (Donna) St. Aubin, a daughter Joyce E. St. Aubin both of Lorain, 2 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a brother Ralph G (Mary Ann) McNary of Lorain. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by sisters Irene H. Denman, Edith McNary, and Mildred E. Krok, brothers Clarence F. McNary and Earl L. McNary.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 18, 2008 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals at 1124 W. Fifth St, Lorain.
Funeral Services will be at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Street, Lorain, at 11:00 am on Friday, September 19th, 2008 with Rev. Jimmy Madsen, co-pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township.
