Anne Mucha
Anne Mucha, 91 of Lorain died on January 31, 2008 at her home unexpectedly.
Miss Mucha was born in Rankin, PA on January 21, 1917, the daughter of the late Stephan and Anna (nee Budaj) Mucha. She has been a resident since She and her family moved to Lorain in 1927.
She was a Lorain High School graduate, Class of 1935, graduated Wittenberg College in 1939, and obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Education from Western Reserve University in 1958.
She was a teacher with the Lorain City Schools for 35 years at Whittier, Admiral King and Southview. She retired in 1975.
She was a avid reader.
Miss Mucha is survived by a sister Margaret Honecy of Lorain, nieces Janet Mitchell of Akron, Judy Marshall of Cortland, Jeanne Mowrey of Urbana and grand nieces Deborah Kavulla, Jacalyn McCready and Laura Mowrey Stokes, grand nephews Larry Marshall, Keith Mitchell, Mark Mowrey
Friends may call on Friday, February 8, 2008 from 10:00 am until funeral services at 11:00 am in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052, with Rev. Dr. L. H. Chamberlain, co-pastor of First Evangelical Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township, OH.

Robert L. Virtue
Robert L. Virtue, 68 of Elyria died unexpectedly on Monday, August 18, 2008 at his home of natural causes.
Mr. Virtue was born in Lorain on July 29, 1940, the son of the late Charles Leroy and Erma Lee (nee Carver) Virtue. He was employed by the street department in Elyria from 1968 - 1998. His friends say that this 30 years of employment was the happiest time of his life and the people that lived, worked and did business on Broad Street in downtown Elyria became his surrogate family. Her has no other known relatives.
He loved animals of all types but especially dogs. He loved his German Shepherd, Juno.
Mr. Virtue will be best remembered as the nice, friendly guy working his way down Broad Street, working a while and then talking a while.
He will be greatly missed by his closest friends, The Lottmans, The Gawlics, the Singetons and The Dan families.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM on Friday, October 3, 2008 in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria,

Robert Anthony Ewers
Robert Anthony Ewers, 18 of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, Jan 23, 2008 at his home unexpectedly.
Bob was born in Lorain, OH on July 13, 1989. He was a Clearview High School graduate of the Class of 2007, He attended his freshman year at Lorain Catholic High School and was currently a freshman at Lorain County Community College.
He was a member of St. Mary Church where he served as an altar server. He had been a member of the Youth Ministry program.
Bob was athletic and enjoyed water skiing, swimming, fishing and camping. He played 3 years baseball at Clearview and both baseball and baseball during his freshman year at Lorain Catholic.
He was employed as a host at Applebee's at Avon Commons for 2 years. He helped and enjoyed learning home improvement at home helping his family.
He enjoyed playing X-Box, music and spending time with family and friends. Bob was best known for his quick smile, gentle spirit, good nature and sense of humor.
He was loved by his parents William (Bill) and Martina (Tina) (nee Bajuk) Ewers, sisters Mary Christine Ewers, Elizabeth A Ewers both of Lorain, his grandparents Martina and John Woelfl of Huron, the late Judge Robert and Helen Ewers, aunts and uncles Deborah Ewers of Lorain, Dr. Susan (Dr. David) Ewers Pelini of Houston, TX, Katherine (Michael) Ewers Passalacqua of Bay Village, Mary Ellen (Lee) Ewers-Pena Avon Lake, Judge Raymond (Mayra) Ewers of Lorain, Louis (Karen) Bajuk of Seattle, WA and Wolgang Woelfl of Middleburg Heights., cousins: Charles, Nicholas, Anthony, John, Sarah, Maria, Louis, Dominic, James, David, Greg and Nichole.
Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Sunday and Monday, Jan. 27 & 28, 2008 from 2-9, with family present from 2-4 & 7-9 PM both days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Jan 29, 2008 at 10:00 in St. Mary Church, Eighth and Reid Avenues, in Lorain with Father Daniel O. Divis, pastor as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Lorain, OH.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Heart House, 309 7th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052 or Blessing House, 5440 Grove Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44055.

Dale J. Walters
Dale J. Walters 76, of Lorain entered eternal life at his home on Thursday, June 5, 2008. He was born in 1931. Dale grew up and lived in Lorain all of his life.
He was a 1949-B graduate of Lorain High School where he participated in dramatics and the a cappella choir.
Dale was drafted in 1952, and spent two years in France with the United States Army. After serving his country, he returned to Lorain and married his childhood sweetheart Arline Niznik in 1954.
Together they raised two children, daughter Diane (Bob) Lindway and son Tim both of Lorain. Besides his children and wife of 53 years Dale is survived by a brother Ralph and two granddaughters, Alexis and Brianna Lindway of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gust and Esther (nee Vaillant) Walters.
Dale was employed at the Avon Lake Technical Center of the B.F. Goodrich Company for forty years. He spent the past fourteen years toiling in his garden, canning the harvest and sharing the bounty with family and friends.
He was also a social member of the Knights of St. John.
The Family will receive guests from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Monday, June 9, 2008 at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals 1124 Fifth Street, Lorain Ohio.
A celebration of Dale's life will begin at 11 A.M. at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 with Rev. Lynn Schlessman, pastor Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Avon Lake, Rev. Dr. Linwood H. Chamberlain Jr. and Rev. Jimmy Madsen, co-pastors of First Evangelical Lutheran Church as celebrants.
Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Lorain.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Association, 43099 North Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.

Mary Ellen Wallace
Mary Ellen Wallace, 83, (nee Weaver) of Lorain passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain following a long illness.
Mrs. Wallace was born on June 9, 1924 in Zanesville to the late Reuben & Lillie (nee Kelly) Weaver. She has lived in Lorain since 1957. She was an active member at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
She earned a bachelor's degree in 1946 from Muskingum College. Her studies continued at Western Reserve University earning her a Master's in Education degree in 1956. In 1963 she received a Fulbright Scholarship and studied in Columbia, South America and in Mexico.
Mrs. Wallace was a Spanish teacher for the Lorain City Schools. She taught at both Lorain High School and Admiral King High School from 1957-1977. At Admiral King High School she was the chairman of the language department.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Wallace on July 6, 1989.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Street, Lorain with co-pastors Rev. Jimmy Madsen and Rev. Dr. L. H. Chamberlain, officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township.
Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio has been entrusted to handle the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.

Ruth A. Fortman
Ruth A. Fortman, 68, (nee Hoag) of Lorain died on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Community Health Partner's Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Fortman was born in Elyria, OH on April 26, 1940, the daughter of the late Robert A and Cora Luella (nee Huffman) Hoag. She was a homemaker and was a private duty caregiver for elderly and children.
She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed cooking, playing cards, picnics with her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Fortman is survived by daughters Juetta G Keener, Gwendolyn A (Gary Sr.) Howell both of Lorain, son Floyd L " Tuffy" (Pamela) Phillips, Jr. of Vermilion, grandchildren Erica N. Keener, Joshua S. Keener, Christopher D. Phillips, Gary B. Howell, Jr., Kristen L. Phillips, Grant M. Howell, Hunter Tice, Amelia Fortman, great grandchildren Michael J. Farley, Malachi T. McGookey, stepdaughter Melissa (Perry) Fortman, step- son Michael (Brandi) Fortman and her mother-in-law Cora Fortman of Amherst.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Fortman in 2002, a brother Robert Hoag and a sister Louise Dunfee.
Friends may call on Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 1-4 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain followed at 4:00 PM by a Celebration of Her Life in the funeral home.

Mary V. Frasca
Mary V. Frasca, age 100, (nee Marchello), died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 in Kingston of Vermilion.
She was born July 8, 1907 in Patti, Sicily. She has lived in Lorain since 1927.
A deeply loved and devoted mother, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting, arts and crafts. She was a life member of Lorain Community Hospital Auxiliary, and a very active volunteer at the Palace Civic Center for many years.
Mary will be greatly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Nick Connone of Naples Florida, and her son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Muriel (nee Holt) Frasca, of Springfield, Ohio, her grandchildren, Dale Connone, Christine Connone, Glenn Frasca and Michael Frasca, six great grandchildren and her many friends.
Her husband, Alfred Frasca, died in 1972. She was also preceded in death by twin brothers William and Thomas Marchello and an infant sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11:00 AM in The Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio. Father Charles Henkle will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
She will lay in state at the church for one hour prior to the Mass.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Lorain Palace Civic Center, 617 Broadway, Lorain, Ohio 44052 in her memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.

Dr. Robert Freedman
Dr. Robert Freedman, 84 of Lorain and Weston, Florida passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008.
Mr. Freedman is survived by his wife Lois Freedman, brother Gerald Freedman, son David Freedman, daughters Lisa Keating and Carol Fine, grandchildren Becca Keating, Jennie Fine, and Sarah Fine.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2008 at 1:00 P.M at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th St., Lorain. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in Sheffield.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Agudath B'nai Israel, P.O. Box 3188, Lorain, Ohio 44052 or a charity of your choice.
