Frances M. Greenwood
Frances M. Greenwood, 67, (nee Hayes) of Lorain died on Monday, July 21, 2008 at the New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph in Lorain following a long illness.
Mrs. Greenwood was born in Bellaire, Ohio on May 27, 1941, the daughter of Thomas and Alice Hayes (nee Wyeth). She is a graduate of Bellaire High School and moved to Lorain in 1976.
She was a homemaker that enjoyed shopping, flea markets, and garage sales.
She is survived by her husband Harry R. Greenwood, SR, a son Thomas N. Greenwood, Sr of Lorain, her father Thomas Hayes of Bellaire, granddaughter Alicia Garzia, grandson Thomas N. Greenwood, Jr and a great granddaughter Jade Garzia.
She was preceded in death by her son Harry R. Greenwood, Jr in 1986, her mother Alice Hayes, (nee Wyeth) and a sister Mary Margaret Hodorski.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 1:00 PM in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
The Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain is handling the arrangements.

Sophia D. Herman
Sophia D. (nee Leska) Herman, 91, of Lorain, died Sunday, March, 2, 2008 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a long illness.
She was born in Lorain on May 10, 1916 and was a life long resident. She had been employed for more than 20 years with the Reidy-Scanlan Company, both in the furniture store and the funeral home. She retired in the early 1990's.
Mrs. Herman was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Lorain for over 60 years. She taught Sunday School for many years, and was a former member of it’s Sunago Group.
She loved being with her family.
Mrs. Herman is survived by her daughters Sandra Herman of Lorain, her primary caregiver and Gayle Myhrman of Amherst Township, grandchildren Debra Contreras, Lynette Ruddy, Michael Myhrman, Traci Abrahamowicz, Karen Guerin, Kevin Marsh, Nancy Schnieder, David Marsh, Diane Lassiter, 2 surviving Nephews,18 great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren, and her sister Josephine Farkas of Avon.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lowell E. Herman in 1974 and a daughter Patricia M. Bayliss 2001, her parents John Leska & Dora (nee Wiezerbowski) Leska Rogalski, and sisters Genevieve Gutoski, and Irene Leska.
Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 5th, Lorain, OH. 44052, on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
Funeral Services will be held at the funeral hme at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 with the Rev. Darlene Robinson, Pastor of Faith United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
The family suggest that memorials may be made to Lorain Faith United Methodist Church, 2201 Reid Ave. Lorain, or New Life Hospice, c/o Community Health Partners Foundation, 3600 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH. 44052.

William R. Ward
William R. Ward, 64 of Amherst died at Elyria Memorial Hospital Regional Medical Campus in Elyria on Thursday, March 20, 2008 following a long illness.
Mr. Ward was born in Elyria on October 10, 1943, the son of the late Alvin and Rose Marie (Kinter) Hellinger. He has lived in the northern Lorain County area all his life. He was a graduate of Lorain High School in the class of 1962.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Lorain, OH.
Mr. Ward retired as the plant manager at Heatseal Manufacturing in Garfield Heights in May 2005 after 15 years of service. He also worked for Baker Material Handling in Cleveland for 25 years.
He enjoyed his volunteer work in the Cardiac Rehab Unit at Community Health Partners as well as his regular volunteer work at the hospital. He was a former auxiliary policeman for the Avon Police Department.
Mr. Ward loved living near the lake, where he fished and boated. He was a devoted husband, loved being a Dad and especially enjoyed being Grandpa to his only granddaughter. He also enjoyed his several trips to Mexico.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Kristine R. (nee Cooley) Ward, a daughter Amie M VanHove of Ashland, a son Daniel J Ward of Sheffield Lake, OH., granddaughter Kaci Ward of Sheffield Lake, sisters Valerie (Chris) Woods, Denise (Tomas) Serrano both of Lorain, a brother Alvin (Patricia) Hellinger of Lorain, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He will be greatly missed by his special "buddy", his dog, Gus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son William "Rusty" Ward in 1987.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 9:30 AM in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1305 Erie Ave, Lorain, OH, with Rev. Joseph West will be the celebrant.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, Northern Lake, 1689 E. 115 St. Cleveland, OH 44106.

Maggie Wilcox
Maggie Wilcox, 60, (nee Jarrell) of Lorain died early Tuesday morning, January 29, 2008 at Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a long illness.
Mrs. Wilcox was born in Dana, KY on January 7, 1948, the daughter of the late Edward and Verlie (nee Kidd) Jarrell. She was a retired laundry supervisor at Marriott Residence Inn in Westlake, for 10 years.
She enjoyed caring for children, crossword puzzles and collecting dolls.
She was a member of Marriott's 700 Club.
Mrs. Wilcox is survived by her husband Ward Wilcox to whom she was married on April 15, 1977. Also surviving is her daughter Verlina S. Jarrell of Columbus, son Dwight E. (Tracy) Jarrell of Teabury, KY, step son Ward J. (Leslie) Burnette of Lorain, grandchildren, Chris M. Neely, Jordan D. Jarrell, Jessica L. Jarrell, Jarred E. Jarrell, Kayleigh D. Snowden, sisters Lois (Leon) Cummins of Frankfort, KY., Ann (Everett) Cummins of Frankfort, KY., Emma (Ray) Case of Dana, KY., Stella (Jerry) Schultz of North Street, MI., Nellie (Mike) Hall of Printer, KY, brothers Kelly (Nancy) Jarrell of Wakeman, Wilford "Boot" (Connie) Jarrell of Dana, KY., Jim (Barb) Jarrell of Willard, and Bud Jarrell of Frankfort, KY and a special family friend, Joe Renaldo of Lorain.
She was also preceded in death by a brother Charles Jarrell.
Friends may call on Thursday evening, January 31, 2008 from 5 - 8 PM at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, February 1, 2008 at the funeral home with Rev. Geneva Hedrick, assistant pastor of the Liberty in Jesus Church of Lorain.

Joan D. Owens
Joan D. Owens, 74, (nee Mehring), of Lorain died Saturday evening, September 6, 2008 at Kingston of Vermilion following a brief illness.
Mrs. Owens was born in Columbus, OH on March 26, 1934, the daughter of the late Mildred L. Bohach (nee Mehring). She moved to Lorain as a small child. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by daughters Brenda L. Walker, Cindy A. (Michael) Taylor both of Lorain, grandchildren, Justin M. Owens, Curtis M. Taylor, Odell J. Walker, Emmanuel W. Taylor, Anthony V. Walker, Cameron M. Taylor, Burgandy A. Taylor, 9 great grandchildren, a sister Regina Peak and several other loving family members.
Mrs. Owens is preceded in death by her husband Dallas Owens in 1972, a son David A. Owens, a brother Frank H. Mehring and her step father Joseph Bohach.
Friends may call Wednesday, September 10, 2008 from 2-4 & 6-until funeral time at 8:00 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio. Pastor Donald K. Young, pastor of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate.
Graveside committal services will be Friday, September 12, 2008 at 1:00 PM in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township, OH.

Raymond N. Woodings
Raymond N. Woodings, 80 of Lorain died Friday, June 27, 2008 at Community Health Partners Regional Health Center in Lorain following a short illness.
Mr. Woodings was born in Washougal, WA on December 19, 1927, the son of the late Thomas and Mildred (nee Noderer) Woodings. He was a merchant marine and then enlisted in the US Army. He served in the 11th Airbourne and was stationed in occupied Japan.
Following 37 years of service, He retired as a chemical operator at B F Goodrich, nka Geon in Avon Lake.
Mr. Woodings is survived by sons Randy Woodings of Lorain, Bruce Woodings of Magnolia, TX., Jeffrey Woodings of Amherst, granddaughters Victoria Woodings of Houston, TX, Amanda Woodings of Lorain, Candance Woodings of Amherst, grandsons Matthew Woodings of Indianapolis, IN, Wesley Woodings of Amherst, a great grandson Drake Woodings of Indianapolis and a sister Betty Wurgler of Scio, OR.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline M. (nee Muir) Woodings in 2004, sisters Amelia Rodgers, Mary Burns, Doris Meyers, Elsie Kleir, brothers Thomas, Forrest, Joseph, and Donald Woodings.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 North Ridge Road, Amherst Twp, with Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor of the Amherst United Church of Christ, officiating.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society 43099 N. Ridge Road Elyria, OH 44035.

Jean E. Wilms
Jean E. Wilms, 92, (nee Koepke) of Lorain died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at Autumn Aegis Retirement Center in Lorain.
Mrs. Wilms was born in Lorain on October 6, 1915, and was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Lorain High School and in 1933 was selected as the Lorain High School Lilac Queen. The following year, she was selected as the Lorain Centennial Queen.
She was a retired accountant for the former Thew Shovel, retiring in 1965 after 25 years service.
In 1984, Mrs Wilms served as Honorary Queen for the Lorain Sesqui-Centennial Celebration. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Lorain and was active in the Fellowship Club. She was a choir member, also. She served as the program chairperson for the AARP for 20 years. In February of 2008, Mrs. Wilms was honored as a Woman of Lorain by the Lakeland Women's Club.
Mrs. Wilms is survived by her son Stanley (Sandra) Pincura of Irvine, CA, granddaughter Susan Meyer of Blue Springs, MO, grandsons Stanley Pincura of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Scott Pincura of Downington, PA, great grandchildren, Madison Meyer, Mallory Meyer, Samantha Pincura, Brady Pincura, MacKenzie Pincura, Caitlin Pincura, Tyler Pincura and a nephew James Koepke.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley Pincura and her second husband Ernest Wilms.
At her request, there will be no public viewing or funeral service.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Rose Garden Fund at Lakeview Park, Carlisle Visitor's Center, 12882 Diagonal Road, LaGrange, Ohio 44050 or the Black River Historical Society, 309 West Fifth St., Lorain, Ohio 44052.
Arrangements are being handled by the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44052.
