She was a retired bookkeeper for Reed Tractor Sales, an avid golfer, and a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. Lucille is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Russell Morris of Severna Park, Md., Molly and Jerry Culp of Kissimmee, Fla.; grandchildren, Becky (David) Owen of Amanda, Oh., Blaine (Debbie) Sheppard of Wellston, Oh., Brent (Lori) Sheppard of Lancaster, Oh., Justin Morris of Stevensville, Md., Pam (Steve) Downing of Westerville, Oh., Stacy Miller of Lancaster, Oh.; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Walter) Moore of Canal Winchester, Oh.; nephews, Joe Rainier, Fred and Larry Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Ross Rainier in 1991. Friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Road North (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington, where the funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Charles Muller officiating. SCHANTZ Charles Edward Schantz, age 85, died October 30, 2002 at Westminster Thurber Retirement Community. Retired Tiremaker of Firestone after 38 years. Member Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church. Preceded in death by parents Charlie and Katie (Bercy) Schantz, brother Clarence Schantz, sister Elsie Biehl, both of Marietta. Survived by wife, Stella; children, Ralph Lee Schantz of Las Vegas, Nev., Wayne Arthur Schantz of Houston, Tex., Donald Ray (Cheryl) Schantz of Hilliard. Friends may call at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 2693 W. Broad St., Friday 6-8 p.m. Memorial Service to be held at a later date at Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church.

ST. JOHN Annie Lucille St. John, age 50, of Galloway, Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. Arrangements being completed by the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard.

STEVENS John Rabold Stevens, age 86, of Vermilion, died Wednesday evening, October 30, 2002 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a short illness. He was born icon September 14, 1916 in Columbus, Oh. He had been a Vermilion resident for the past 19 years, moving from Connecticut. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp for 5 years and was stationed in Kunming, China in 1942 and 1944. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal, having been a Navigator Bombardier flying in B25s. He attended West High School in Columbus and attended The Ohio State University. He retired as a National Sales Manager from the United Shoe Machinery Corporation in Boston, Mass. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jane W. Stevens (nee Ward); daughters, Nan Madison of Columbus and Sally Godley of Greenwich; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter. Private family services were held. Arrangements entrusted to RIDDLE FUNERAL HOME, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Oh.

TAYLOR John Taylor, age 90, of Unionville Center, died Thursday at the Memorial Hospital of Union County. Arrangements pending FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, Plain City, 614-873-8013.

VERBER Dr. Carl Verber, age 67, of Atlanta, died October 7, 2002. Dr. Verber worked for Battelle Memorial Institute for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Verber of Atlanta; son, Mark (Libby) Verber of Mountainview, CA; daughter, Marilyn Verber of Columbus; sister, Carolyn (James) Falk of Morristown, NJ; and grandchildren, Helen, Maude, and Elliott. A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 3, 2002 at 2 p.m. at THE EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3232 E. Main Street with Rabbi Cary Kozberg officiating. WILLIS Gary Cabble "Pappy" Willis, age 63, of Blacklick, Oh., passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. He was born icon to Earl and Lucille Willis, in Carter County, KY. Also preceded in death by his sister Phyllis Jean. Gary was the owner of Willis Garage and Body Shop. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Gary (Seana), Charles (Sheila), Dale (Gina) and Jeffrey (friend: Jenny); grandchildren, Andy, Justin, Amanda, Charlee, Jeffrey, Chelsea and Morgan; 6 sisters; 2 brothers; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Saturday, November 2, at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH. Additional calling hours, funeral service and burial will take place in Carter County, Ky. Arrangements by Sparks Funeral Home, 606-474-5114. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. WILSON Don E. Wilson, age 63, died at hospital in Palm Springs, Calif., October 29, 2002. He was preceded in death by parents Dr. and Mrs. H. Wilson of Columbus. He is survived by loving wife, Amy; children, Amyann, Paul, Jesse and Reanna of Calif.; sisters, Barbara Hensel and Joyce Stambaugh, both of Columbus; as well as many nieces and nephews. Don graduated from North High School, June 1956 and has his own fencing company in Yucca Valley, Calif. for many years. There will be a Memorial Service held in Yucca Valley on Saturday, November 2.

WORKMAN (McCarthy) Martha E. McCarthy Workman, 97, of Marysville, died Thursday morning, October 31, 2002 at The Gables at Green Pastures. She was a longtime businesswoman in Marysville and retired as owner of Weiss Brothers Department Store. In addition to the clothing business, she operated McCarthy's Place and the Dairy Queen when it was located on N. Main St. She was the first recipient of the Athena Award, which recognizes outstanding businesswomen of the community. Martha was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, member and past President of the American Legion Auxiliary, member of Mary Chapter #9 OES and the Puritan Circle of Kings Daughters. She was a proud graduate of Watkins High School, class of 1923 and had never missed a Watkins Alumna since graduating. She was born icon in Dover Township September 28, 1905 to the late James D. and Mabel Parmenter Russell. She was married icon in 1927 to William G. McCarthy who preceded her in death in 1968. She was then married icon in 1979 to Walter Workman who also preceded her in death in 1994. A brother Clair Russell, a sister Grayce Russell, a grandson James R. McCarthy and step-son Jack Workman also preceded her in death. Her son, William R. (Ruth) McCarthy of Marysville survives; as does a step-son, Gene (Dorothy) Workman of Grove City; a step-daughter-in-law, Olive Workman of Canal Winchester; grandchildren, William A. McCarthy, Susan A. (Stewart) Chongson, Thomas A. (Amy) McCarthy, Mary A. (Kevin) Sampsel; step-grandchildren, Ronald (Judy) Workman, Brenda Workman, Cynthia (Marty) Peck, Theresa Workman, Patricia Bennett, Jack (Mylinda) Workman, Sandy (Bob) Miller, Pat Workman; 22 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at the INGRAM FUNERAL HOME, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville. Funeral service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 311 E. 6th St., Marysville with the Rev. Renee Ahern officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. Eastern Star service will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Sow-the-Word Campaign or Trinity Lutheran School in care of the funeral home.

ZANG Paul C. Zang, age 75, Monday, at his residence. Retired co-owner of Franklin Plating & Polishing Co. of German Village. Graduate Aquinas College High School class of 1945 and The Ohio State University. Member Phi Eta Sigma Fraternity. Attended Coast Guard Academy during World War II, veteran Korean War US Army. Survived by loving wife of 51 years, Helen; daughters, Terry A. Zang of Powell, Patrice A. Hemwsorth of Lancaster, Mary A. Zang; sons, Michael J. Zang of Newark, Charles A. (Leslie) Zang of Hilliard; grandchildren, Amy and Nick Hemsworth, Walter and Doug Zang, Noah Zang; many loving relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents Walter J. and Dorothy A. ANDREWS Robert Andrews, age 61, of Columbus, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at Whetstone Care Ctr. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Kim Andrews of Tex.; daughter, Kristin Andrews of Columbus; and 4 grandchildren. Graduate of OSU and St. Charles Preparatory School. Formerly a Sales Rep for A.T. Cross Pen Co. Member of Faith Christian Center, and Founder of Go Jesus Worldwide Ministries, serving the Lord most recently in St. Petersburg, Russia. ANSTAETT Lois Anstaett, age 76, of Upper Arlington, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Kobacker House after a brief illness. Arrangements to be announced by SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road.

ARNOLD Paul M. Arnold Sr., 79, of Columbus, Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Kobacker House. He was a WW II U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran. Graduate of The Ohio State University. He was licensed as a CPA in 1953 and was also a Nationwide Insurance Agent and owner of several small businesses. Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Naoma Arnold; children, Sharon Goodburn, Paul (Beth) Arnold, Vicki (Dick) Bambini, Rhonda (Jim) Rini and James (Cindy) Arnold; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Alma Harris. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2002 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington. BAILEY Lynn William Bailey, age 84, Thursday, May 3, 2002 at Riverside. Retired from General Motors. Member of South Gate Masonic Lodge #692, the Gahanna Moose Lodge #2463 and Linden Eagles Area #2252. Preceded in death by wife Helen Bailey and daughter Audrey Rose. BALL-CORIDAN (BALL) Jo-Anne Ball-Coridan, age 72, of Columbus, Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Jo-Anne was active in community affairs and business and arts organizations throughout her life both in Columbus and in Sedona, Ariz. Some of the groups she was associated with included Worthington Music Club, Columbus Women's Music Club, Worthington Civic Arts Counsel, Ohio Federation of Music Clubs, Delaware County Red Cross Board, Women's Auxiliary of the Associated Builders and Contractor's, Inc. of Ohio, Public Relations Society of America and Women in Communications. In 1986, she was selected as an Ohio Woman of Achievement for her accomplishments in business and her contributions to her community. Jo-Anne's commitment to her family was of such importance to her that she often neglected her own needs. One of her greatest accomplishments late in life was to complete a Bachelor's of Art Degree in Music from Otterbein College graduating cum laude with departmental honors in music. Jo-Anne faced many obstacles in her life and faced them "head on" with determination and a great sense of responsibility to "play the hand you were dealt". Her commitment to "doing what was right" was a guide for her family and friends. She will be missed but remembered every time we hear "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". Preceded in death by mother, father, brother and husband Donald Ball Sr. Survived by husband, Henry F. Coridan; son, Donald (Dianna) Ball, Jr.; daughter, Dorothy Dianne "Dee Dee" Ball; granddaughter, Ali Ball; and the family of Henry F. Coridan, Catherine (Edward T. Hogan) Coridan, John Coridan, Jim (Robin) Coridan, Beth (Mark) Traetow; 7 grandchildren. BARKER James Eldon Barker, age 86, of Sidney, OH, died May 2, 2002 at Mill Run Gardens in Hilliard, Oh. He retired as Sales Manager for Copeland Refrigeration Corporation in 1974. He graduated from Purdue University School of Mechanical Engineering in 1939, and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Sidney. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene; children, Susan Barker Killian of Baltimore, MD and William D. (Donna) Barker of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Steven (Clare), James (Yvette), and Michael (Leah) Killian, Lori Henderson, Kristen, Abby, Kathryn, Hannah, and Matthew Barker; great-grandchildren, David II and Madeline Killian and Madeline and Sidney Henderson. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002 at First United Methodist Church, Sidney, Oh. Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Oh. 43221. (Joy) Baughman, Carroll, OH., Carol (Michael) Lingo, Columbus, Patsy Schnorf (Scott Stallings), Groveport; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sister, Margaret Edwards, Phoenix, AZ.; and several nieces and nephews.
