SCHMIDT William L. Schmidt, Sr., Ret. Col. U.S. Army, age 90, Friday, May 3, 2002 at home after a long illness. Complete obituary and arrangements later by EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. Broad St.

TABOR Marjorie Miller Tabor, 66, of State College, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Centre Community Hospital. Born May 28, 1935 in Parkersburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Romie A. and Glenna M. Knopp Miller of Belpre, OH. On November 28, 1954, she married icon Thomas E. Tabor, who survives at home. She was a 1952 graduate of Belpre High School and attended Ohio University, Athens, OH and comptometer school in Charleston, W.Va. She was a sales clerk by Robins Young World in State College and previously employed by the Alumni Office at Duke University. Her collection of cookbooks is formidable and her culinary knowledge was well known among her friends and family. She and her husband had been American hosts for many foreign students who came to Penn State and managed to keep in touch with most of them even after they returned to their own country. She was a giving person who cooked meals on many occasions to help others and she sent "pick-me-up" cards to people with an illness or other unfortunate event. She was an active member of the State College Presbyterian Church. In Columbus, OH from 1956 to 1963, she was a member of the Aeroettes, the engineers' wives club of North American Aviation. In Charleston, W.Va. from 1963 to 1972, she was a member of the Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. In State College, she is a current member and past president of the Lady Lion Cager Club. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Vicki J. Zahand of Kingwood, TX, Lisa M. Tabor and Cynthia L. T. Hayes, both of Marietta, GA; a son, Randall A. Tabor of Lambertville, MI; a sister, Bette M. Holmboe of Newport, RI; a brother, Donald L. Miller of Belpre, OH; and 9 grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 5 and from 9-10 a.m. on Monday, May 6 at KOCH FUNERAL HOME, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 6 at the Koch Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Charles J. Curley officiating. Burial in Centre County Memorial Park will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Scleroderma Foundation, 89 Newbury Street, Suite 201, Danvers, MA 01923.

THOMPSON Violet "Sis" Thompson, age 52, of Columbus, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at OSU Hospital. Former Corrections Officer for the State of Ohio. She is survived by her son, Charlie; granddaughter, Nichole Ann Peters; brother, John Thompson; other relatives and friends. Funeral service 8 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2002, at the RUTHERFORD-SHROYER FUNERAL HOME, 1278 West Broad Street, Columbus with Pastor George Bell officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6 p.m. until service time.

TIMMONS Russell A. "Cotton" Timmons, age 93, of Williamsport, died May 2, 2002 in Mt. Carmel East Medical Center, Columbus. He was born icon September 7, 1908 in Chillicothe, the son of Casper and Ida May Timmons. He was a retired farmer and Seed Salesman. Member of Williamsport United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #269 F&AM of Mt. Sterling and Scottish Rite, Aladdin Shrine. Preceded in death by parents, wife Helen, son Russell Timmons Jr., brother Harry Timmons, step-children Roy, Mildred and Bert Morgan. Survived by daughters, JoAnne DePalma of Reynoldsburg and Mary Lou Krumm of Baltimore; son, Dr. Jack Timmons of Carroll; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 3 step-sons, Richard Morgan of Mt. Sterling, Bob Morgan of Five Points and Paul Morgan of Williamsport. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2002 at the PORTER FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Rev. Melonie Harnish officiating with the interment following in Brown Chapel Cemetery in Clarksburg. Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 5, 2002 from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

WILLIAMS Robert E. Williams, age 66, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. U.S. Navy Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from RCA, and was a member of the Whitehall VFW as well as the American Legion of Whitehall. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Evelyn Williams, his brother Keith Williams and a nephew Todd Williams. Survived by his wife, Joanne Williams; son, Robert E. (Vickie) Williams, II of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Deborah (Richard) DeLozier of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren, Meredith Williams and Ashley Faulkner; sister-in-law, Norma Williams; nephews, Larry and Brian Williams; niece, Terri Ogg; aunts, Dora Stasel of Newark and Leone Schmuck of San Diego, CA. Those who wish may contribute to the VFW National Home/Children's Activities, 3575 Waverly Rd. S., Eaton Rapids, MI 48827 in his memory. Private military services will include Burial at Sea. WOLFENBARGER Doris E. McCoy Bailey Wolfenbarger, 81, of West Portsmouth, Oh., a former resident of South Shore, Ky., died Friday, May 3, 2002 in Golden Years Convalescent Center in Portsmouth, Oh. She was born icon September 2, 1920 in Lewis Co., Ky., a daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Caroline Mae Prater McCoy. She was a retired homemaker and Cook for several restaurants in the area. Also a member of the Kings Addition Baptist Church in South Shore, Ky. Preceded in death by her husbands John H. Bailey and Melvin Wolfenbarger and a brother Leroy McCoy. Surviving is 5 sons, Howard Bailey of Calif., Charles Bailey and his wife, Kate of Reynoldsburg, Oh., LeRoy Bailey and his wife, Louise of South Shore, Ky., Robin Bailey and his wife, Pat, David Bailey and his wife, Shelia, both of Portsmouth, Oh.; 4 daughters, Delores VanGundy of West Portsmouth, Oh., Phyllis Thompson and her husband, Bob of South Shore, Ky., Janice Adams and her husband, Richard of Summitt Station, Oh. and Anna Fugate of Reynoldsburg, Oh.; sister, Violet Carmean of Chillicothe, Oh.; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2002 at the ROBERSON FUNERAL HOME, South Shore, Ky. with Rev. Harley Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Collier Memorial Gardens in South Portsmouth, Ky. ANSTAETT Lois Anstaett, age 76, of Upper Arlington, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Kobacker House after a brief illness. She was born icon November 28, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Harold and Florence (Sloan) Trumbull. She graduated from Toledo Libby High School, Class of 1943. She worked at Owens-Corning Fiberglass where she met her husband, Joe. She was a longtime member of Broad St. Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and served as a church summer camp counselor. She was a former member of Children's Hospital Twig 87 and currently a member of Twig 49. She and her husband have been members of Scioto Country Club, and for many years, spent weekends at the Catawba Island Club. They were also members of the Blazed Trail Club. She enjoyed sailing, cruising on the Great Lakes and in the Caribbean. But most importantly, she was a devoted homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Trumbull; and by her sisters Jane Norton and Barbara Breese. Lois is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Joe Anstaett; children, Linda (Steve) Jones of Eaton, Oh., Scott Anstaett of Delaware, Oh., and Jay K. Anstaett of Columbus, Oh.; grandchildren, Chuck (Samantha) Nye, Vicki (Paul) Titus, Dana (Kevin) Henninger, Buffy Nye, Erin Anstaett, Kathryn Anstaett, and Emily Anstaett; 8 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Helen Anstaett; brother-in-law, Don (Dianne) Breese; sister-in-law, Ava Lou Trumbull; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002 at Broad St. Presbyterian Church, 760 E. Broad St., Columbus, Oh. 43205 where the family will receive friends immediately following the service. Rev. Ann Palmerton and Rev. David Van Dyke will co-officiate. A private interment will be held for the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Broad St. Presbyterian Church in her memory. BASSETT Robert C. Bassett, age 77, of Columbus, May 2, 2002 at Kobacker House. Preceded in death by brother Harry L. BRYDIE Marion P. (Skeet) Brydie, 73 went to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 2, 2002 at his residence. Retired from Big Bear Bakery, 25 years of service, and from St. Ann's Hospital. Member of Big Bear Local #57 and American Legion Post #690 after serving in the United States Army. He is survived by sons, Roben G. Brydie, and Marvin (Sonia) Brydie; daughters, Evg. Brenda L. Brown, all of Columbus, Ohio and Sheila (Damon) Kelley of Kentucky. Close friend James Ferguson; travel partners, Michelle Hill and Mary Jane. Special and dear friend Marilyn Taylor; two sisters, Carrie Hill, Columbus, Ohio and Velora Jones of Detroit, Mich.; four sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law; twelve grandchildren; three great granddaughters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 7 at 11 a.m at the Refuge Baptist Church, where the family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Public viewing, Monday after 1 p.m. at M.J.K. BURTON Hager H. Burton, age 81, of Columbus, died May 2, 2002 at home. Member of Heritage Free Will Baptist Church, South Gate - Potter Lodge #784 F&AM and Scottish Rite. Veteran of U.S. Air Force, T/Sgt 461st Bomb Group, flew 35 missions as engineer gunner in WW II. Retired from C&O RR. Preceded in death by wife Louise, infant daughter Patricia, brothers Carl, Hobart, Bill and George Burton and sisters Dorothy Carter and Nellie Shannon. Survived by daughter, L. Sharon Nutini of Columbus; grandchildren, Cynthia Ann (John) Slater, Tommy Nutini and Michelle (Randy) Michael; 4 great-granddaughters; nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at GRAUMLICH & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., where service will be held Monday 1:30 p.m. Pastor Tim W. Stout officiating. CALDERONE William Calderone, age 75 of Columbus, died Saturday, May 4, 2002. He was born icon January 30, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio. Self employed contractor and a Veteran of the US Army, WWII. Preceded in death by parents Dominic and Mary Calderone; brother Louis Calderone and grandson Willie Calderone. Survived by wife, Ann Calderone; son, Michael (Becky) Calderone; daughters, Sharon (Rick) Nelson, Karen (Fred) Harvey, Patty (Mick) Simmons, Michele (Jeff) Murdock; brother, John (Becky) Calderone; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the JOHN QUINT AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1177 West Fifth Avenue, where family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Burial Resurrection Cemetery.

DUFFER Billy Glen Duffer Sr., age 64, of Groveport, died May 2, 2002 at OSU Medical Center. Member of Heritage Free Will Baptist Church. Retired from Worthington Foods after 32 years of service. Preceded in death by parents Naomi and Leslie Thomas Duffer and sister Marjorie Hall. Survived by very loving wife of 42 years, Barbara (Arrowood) Duffer; sons and daughter-in-law, Billy Glen and Jennifer Duffer Jr. of Columbus, Jason Elliot Duffer of the residence; daughter, Cherri Gosser of Grove City; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Glen and Amy Marie Gosser, Thadeus "Tad" James and Emily Morgan Duffer; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jim Schrienk of Columbus; many nieces and nephews. EBLIN Leonard L. Eblin, Sr., 86 of Circleville, died Friday, May 3, 2002, in Mt. Carmel Medical Center. Born May 8, 1915 in Circleville the son of the late William and Viola Eblin. He was the owner and operator of Leonard's Barber Shop for over 39 years, a Veteran of WWII, an avid hunter and fisherman and attended the Trinity Lutheran Church. He is survived by son, Leonard L. (Connie) Eblin, Jr. of Pensacola, Florida; daughter, Karen Sue (Ric) Greider of Circleville; grandchildren, Tonja Eblin of Zanesville, Aaron Eblin of Desert Hot Springs, California, Julie Welch of Columbus, Ronna Gaines of Pickerington, Leslie Gaines of Stoutsville and Brian Gaines of Whisler; great grandchildren, Kylan, Elijah, Ashley, Aricka, Grace and Colin. ECHENRODE Emaree Echenrode, age 87, Thursday, May 2, 2002 in Dearborn, Mich., after a brief illness. Former resident of Columbus, Ohio and also Grosse Point, Mich. and Columbia, Mo. Preceded in death by husband Frank. Survived by sons, Dr. John (Cynthia) Echenrode, Plymouth, Mi. and Dr. James (Dawn) Echenrode, Columbia, Mo.; grandchildren, Jennifer (17), John (15), and Matthew (2) Echenrode, Jason Tyranski (19) and Laura Tyranski (16) all of Michigan; Andrew (18), Taran (16) and Kelsey (1) Echenrode all of Missouri; brother-in-law, Thomas (Margaret) Echenrode; sisters-in-law, Laura Echenrode and Mary Kay Hucle. ELDRIDGE Edwin "Eddie" Eldridge, age 91, of Columbus, died Friday evening with his family by his side. He was born icon July 17, 1910 in Madison, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Odia Mae Eldridge. He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 25 years, Gloria Gussler Eldridge; children, Edwina Mae Eldridge, Denise (Bill) Warth, Debbie (Tim) McKeon, Louis (Dana) Gussler, Elaine (Ray) Nader, Berince (Gary) Newkirk, Ed (Tava) Eldridge; loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a US Army-Air Corps Veteran of WWII and member of American Legion Southway Post #144 and V.F.W. Post #1598. Eddie was a fine and hardworking man with old-fashoned values and an indomitable spirit that helped keep him going full speed ahead. He was a Starter, affectionately known as "Father Time" at Brookside Golf and Country Club for 27 years, up until the time of his death; he had many good friends there and will be missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2002 at Brookside Golf and Country Club, 2770 West Dublin-Granville Road (SR 161), Columbus, with a reception to follow. FAULK Nancy K. Faulk, age 55, of Jerome, died Thursday, May 2, 2002 at The Ohio State University Hospital. Born July 2, 1946 in Junction City, Oh. Graduate of Bliss College and employed by Ohio National and National City Banks and most recently in the front office of Big Bear. Preceded in death by father Victor Purvis, 1993 and father-in-law Donald "Whitey" Faulk, 1994. Survived by loving husband, Mark Faulk, whom she married icon in Somerset on January 26, 1980; devoted daughters, Angela (Scott) Reese of Jerome and Theresa (Kevin) Gabbard of Columbus; special granddaughter, Samantha Gabbard; dedicated mother, Mildred Purvis of Somerset; brother, Jim (Jean) Purvis of Knoxville, Tenn.; niece, Denise (Clarence) Adamson of Knoxville, Tenn.; great-nieces, Whitney and Katie; mother-in-law, Florence Faulk of Jerome; sister-in-law, Donna (Steve) Mann of Worthington; brothers-in-law, Larry (Pam) Faulk of Jerome, Bill (Marilyn) Faulk of Durant, Okla., Jim (Molly) Faulk of Dublin and Ray Faulk of Raymond; 9 nieces and nephews; 8 great-nieces and nephews.
