REYNOLDS Corbett C. Reynolds, age 58, of Columbus, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 in Savannah, GA. He was a well known artist and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Andrew M. and Tawna Jensen, Columbus; brother and sister-in-law, James and Louanne Reynolds, Cornersville, TN; and a host of wonderful friends. Funeral service 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at the SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 East State Street, where friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Sunday and from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Monday. SANDERS Shirley Ann Sanders, age 68 of Grove City, passed away at home Saturday, May 4, 2002. Member of Grove City United Methodist Church and numerous clubs. She was retired from Sears Distribution. Preceded in death by granddaughter Shannon Murray and parents Bertha and Robert Myers. Shirley is survived by her husband Bill of 49 years; children, Kay (Duane) Huff, Mike (Jane) Sanders, Kim (Todd) Murray and Kris (Joe) Sergio; grandchildren, Ross and Kate Huff, Glenn and J.T. SAUNDERS William "Bill" Saunders, 71, May 4, 2002. Mr. Saunders was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. A Master Plumber and the owner operator of Columbus Plumbing Company, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0521 and the Buckeye Boosters. Preceded in death by wife Reba in 1996; parents Thomas V. and Edith Saunders and brother Jack Saunders. Survived by children, Karen (Ernie) Robertson and William "Bill" (Tracie) Saunders, Jr.; brother, Thomas V. (Jean) Saunders III; grandchildren, Joe and Jay Robertson and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at THE TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norich St., Hilliard. SCHIFF Born October 6, 1916, in Columbus, Ohio, Herbert H. Schiff, a major leader recognized for his contributions to worldwide philanthropy and humanitarian causes, passed away May 2, 2002. A beloved husband, father grandfather, brother, and mentor, he is survived by wife, Betty Topkis Schiff; daughters, Suzanne Gallant of Branford, CT, Patricia (Richard) Hershorin of Sarasota, FL., and Jane Schiff, of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Deborah Gallant, Eric Gallant, Laura Hershorin, W.D. Hershorin, Jamie Fleckner, and Dan Fleckner; and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Florence "Fredi" Levin and Mildred Lee; and many other relatives and friends. Pre-deceased by grandson, Thomas E. Fleckner. The son of Lithuanian immigrant parents, he married Betty in 1938, the same year he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. Following his graduation, he began his footwear business training under the tutelage of his father, Robert W. Schiff, founder of the Schiff Shoe Company. He worked through the executive ranks to become chairman and CEO of SCOA Industries (predecessor of Shoe Corporation of America) from Schiff Shoes. While chiefly known then for his financial acumen, he was instrumental in the successful growth of many local and national organizations through his philanthropy. Mr. Schiff was then chairman and president of the Schiff Company from 1985-2000. A member of the Columbus Jewish Foundation's Executive Committee, he also served as the president and chairman of its board of trustees. In 1994, Schiff was named chairman emeritus of the Board of Governors of Yeshiva University's Wurzweiler School of Social Work after serving as its founding chairman for a decade. In 1984, he and Betty established the Herbert H. Schiff Chair in Management and Administration at the Wurzweiler School. In addition, he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Yeshiva University for 15 years and received their honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. Honorary Vice-President of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and the American Jewish Committee, and emeritus trustee of Peddie School, he served as trustee of American Friends of Hebrew University and the United Jewish Appeal; director of American ORT Federation; president and chairman of the Education Foundation of the American Retail Federation; director of BancOhio National Bank; chairman of the Foundation of the Columbus Jewish Federation; trustee of Children's Hospital and Temple Israel Foundation (Columbus), executive committee member of Brandeis University and advisory council for Capital University; director of American Footwear Industries Assn., National Retail Merchants Assn., and Ohio State Council of Retail Merchants. Recipient of a Distinguished Service Award from the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants (1997), Recipient of the Columbus Jewish Foundation Endowment Achievement Award (1996) the Kesser Shem Tov Award (Beth Jacob Congregation – 1986), the Doctor of Humane Letters (Ohio Dominican College – 1984) the Israel Prime Minister's Medal (1979), the American Jewish Committee's Milton Weill Human Relations Award (1979) the City of Hope's Spirit of Life Award (1977), the American ORT Federation's Community Achievement Award (1984), the T. Kenyon Holly Award of Two/Ten Associates (1976), the Ben Mandelkorn Award, Columbus Jewish Federation (2000). Funeral Service 2 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2002, at Temple Israel, 5419 E. Broad Street, with Rabbi Arthur P. Nemitoff officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Columbus Jewish Federation, Israel Emergency Fund, 1175 College Ave., Columbus, OH 43209 or the Sarasota-Manatee Jewish Federation, Israel Emergency Fund 580 S. SCHMIDT William L. Schmidt, Sr., Ret. Col. US Army, age 90, Friday, May 3, 2002 at home after a long illness. Retired Full Colonel Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force serving under Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Commander. Awarded Legion of Merit for Redeployment Service and the Bronze Star for Meritorious service. Graduate of St. Charles Preparatory School, The Ohio State University and The Ohio State University College of Law in 1937. Partner many years with the law firm of Crabbe, Brown, Jones, Potts, and Schmidt. An attorney for over 65 years. Past-President of the Columbus Bar Assoc., Lawyers Club, City Club, and YBMC. On the Board of Trustees for St. Ann's Hospital for 30 years. Director Ohio Bar Title. Past-member Columbus Country Club and a member of St. Catharine Parish. Preceded in death by wife Eileen Forrester Schmidt. Survived by twin children Betsy and Wil (Susan L.) Schmidt; sister, Mary Virginia Van Camp; brothers, Harry E., Jr. (Virginia), Brother John Baptist, Richard P. (Mary Alice), Rev. Msgr. Robert R. and James J. Schmidt; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Friends may call Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. Broad St. Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday 10 a.m. at St. Catharine Church, 500 S. Gould Rd. Burial with military honors in St. Joseph cemetery. SHUMAN Florence Angelina Shuman, age 89, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2002 at Mayfair Village Nursing Center. She was a former member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Preceded in death by husband, Clyde B. Shuman. Caring mother of Clara (Clarice) Kirk of Columbus. Also survived by her grandchildren, Steven Kirk of Columbus, Tamara (Jon) Eesley of Westerville; great grandchildren, Ryan Kirk, Graham Eesley and Garrett Eesley; sister, Eva Moretti of Columbus; brother, Patrick Jerome of Florida; several nieces and nephews. Friends many call at the O.R. WOODYARD CO. CHAPEL, 2990 Bethel Rd. 4-8 p.m. Tuesday where the funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment Resurrection cemetery.

STEINBROOK Lillie Mae Steinbrook, age 89, passed away April 30, 2002 in St. Petersburg, Fla. Retired from the State of Ohio and Heinzerling. Survived by daughters, Delores Young, Phyllis Patridge, Susan Comer and Virginia Montgomery; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Friends are asked to gather at Green Lawn cemetery, Monday, May 6, 2002, where graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Joseph DeWitt officiating. Arrangements completed by the O.R. THOMPSON Violet "Sis" Thompson, age 52, of Columbus, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at OSU Hospital. Former Corrections Officer for the State of Ohio. She is survived by her son, Charlie; granddaughter, Nichole Ann Peters; brother, John Thompson; other relatives and friends. TIMMONS Russell A. "Cotton" Timmons, age 93, of Williamsport, died May 2, 2002 in Mt. Carmel East Medical Center, Columbus. He was born September 7, 1908 in Chillicothe, the son of Casper and Ida May Timmons. He was a retired farmer and Seed Salesman. Member of Williamsport United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #269 F&AM of Mt. Sterling and Scottish Rite, Aladdin Shrine. Preceded in death by parents, wife Helen, son Russell Timmons Jr., brother Harry Timmons, step-children Roy, Mildred and Bert Morgan. Survived by daughters, JoAnne DePalma of Reynoldsburg and Mary Lou Krumm of Baltimore; son, Dr. Jack Timmons of Carroll; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 3 step-sons, Richard Morgan of Mt. Sterling, Bob Morgan of Five Points and Paul Morgan of Williamsport. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2002 at the PORTER FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. Rev. TROUTMAN Larry Edward Troutman, 41 years, May 4, 2002. Larry was of Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his father Harold C. in 1993. WALLACE Charles Edward Wallace, age 73, May 2, 2002 at O.S.U. East Hospital. Dedicated member of Second Community Church, ordained Deacon. Owner and operator of Columbus Child Care Center Co. owner of Charles E. Wallace & Co. (real estate and development). He was associated with various organizations throughout the community including C.M.A.C.A.O., Columbus Public Schools and a dedicated member of Action for Children. Preceded in death by mother and stepfather Helen Wallace McNeal and Roy McNeal; father and stepmother Gaston and Marjorie Wallace; brothers Raymond, Richard, Howard, and James Wallace. WILLIAMS Richard Light Williams, age 79, passed away May 2, 2002. A WW II Veteran of the Pacific Theater, he worked for many years with the Ohio Cooperative Extension Service. He was a long time member of Third Church of Christ Scientist, Columbus and a former singer and lover of music, Opera in particular. He is survived by his sons, Bud Williams of Ypsilanti, Mich. And Evan Williams of Birmingham, Ala.; grandsons, Weston and Alden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Glenmont, 4599 Avery Rd., Hilliard or Opera Columbus, 177 E. Naghten St., Columbus.

WILLIAMS Robert E. Williams, age 66, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2002 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. U.S. Navy Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from RCA, and was a member of the Whitehall VFW as well as the American Legion of Whitehall. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Evelyn Williams, his brother Keith Williams and a nephew Todd Williams. Survived by his wife, Joanne Williams; son, Robert E. (Vickie) Williams, II of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Deborah (Richard) DeLozier of Reynoldsburg; grandchildren, Meredith Williams and Ashley Faulkner; sister-in-law, Norma Williams; nephews, Larry and Brian Williams; niece, Terri Ogg; aunts, Dora Stasel of Newark and Leone Schmuck of San Diego, CA.
