WISE Robert T. Wise, age 84, of Worthington, died May 6, 2002 at his home. He retired in 1983 as Chairman of the Board of Big Drum Inc. Graduate of Case School of Engineering, Case Western Reserve University in 1940. During the WW II years, he was chief engineer with the Hindustan Aircraft Company, Bangalore, India, working with the U.S. Air Force. Preceded in death by parents David and Hazel Wise and sister, Lois Wise Knapp, formerly of Homer, Alaska. Survived by loving wife of 53 years, Yolanda "Pat" Wise; sons, Carl T. Wise of Charlottesville, VA and Daniel E. Wise of Burbank, Calif.; granddaughter, Molly Wise and her mother, Karen of Charlottesville, VA; brother, Daniel Wise of Green Valley, AZ; sister, Margaret W. Zierdt of Rockville, Md.; many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2002 at Worthington Presbyterian Church, 773 N. High Street, Worthington, Oh., where family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Bob's niece, Rev. Carol Wise Duffy officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Riverside/Grant Hospice or Riverside Hospital Foundation, 3535 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus, OH 43214. ZIMMERMAN Walter Barton Zimmerman, age 79, of Upper Arlington, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2002 at Traditions at Mill Run. He attended North High School, Columbus Academy and graduated from Greenbrier Military Academy. He attended The Ohio State University and was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Walt served in the U.S. Army in the 862 squadron. He retired from Battelle Memorial Institute after 35 years. He will be missed by his loving wife of 54 years; Audrey Zimmerman; his children, Susan Reed of Los Angeles, CA, David (Krista) Zimmerman of Upper Arlington and Patty (Scott) Brady of Michigan; his grandchildren, Jamie and Casey Reed, Sean, Lyndsay and Adam Zimmerman, and Kyle and Suzy Brady. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Gene (Duane) Guerin, Marylou Corotis and Peggy Hallock, all of Columbus. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 11, 2002 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., where friends will be received one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 PM. BAKER Alta Daisy Baker, age 93, of Westerville, died May 8, 2002 at Willow Brook Christian Home. Member of Bethel U.M. and affiliate of the Church of the Master, U.M. Preceded in death by husband W. Carl. Survived by children, Shirley Baker, Westerville with whom she made her home, James (Margaret) Baker, Westerville and Richard William "Bill" (Alice Mae) Baker, Shelby; 6 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Martin Horton and Maxine Arnold. Friends may call at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. State St., Westerville, 6-8 p.m. Sunday, where service will be held 10 a.m. Monday. BARRETT Charles Arthur Barrett, age 62, of Millersport, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Oh. Born December 12, 19389 in Columbus, Oh. to the late Theodore A. and Gladys M. (McClure) Barrett. He retired from Nabisco, Westerville and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Thornville. Survivors include wife of 43 years, Janice (Carruthers) Barrett; daughter, Suzanne (Ken) Shaw of Bryan, Oh.; son, Charles Eugene Barrett of Albuquerque, N.M.; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie and Lauren; sister, Mary Barrett of Columbus, Oh.; brother, James (Sandy) Barrett of Lexington, Oh. Funeral service will be Monday, May 13, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Thornville with Pastor Jeff Morlock officiating. Burial will follow at Millersport cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 6-8 p.m. and Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the BORING-SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME, Thornville Chapel.

BECKMAN Dr. Charles F. Beckman, of Chillicothe and Mesa, Ariz., died May 2, 2002 in Ariz. He was predeceased by his first wife Helen Colville Beckman. Survived by his wife, Day Trainer Beckman; sister, Mildred Capuro; daughter, Judy Beckman; son, Robert Beckman; daughter-in-law, Sandy Beckman; grandchildren, Morgan, Mallory, Anna and Alice; great-granddaughter, Bryce. Dr. Beckman was a graduate of Columbia University and The Ohio State University School of Dentistry. He served as a U.S. Army Captain in the South Pacific during WW II, then practiced dentistry for several years in New York, before returning to the family greenhouse business. Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 14, 5-7 p.m. at OLIVER FUNERAL HOME, Ashville. Memorial service immediately following.

BENDER Ruth E. Bender, age 89, of Columbus, died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Kobacker House. She was the widow of Jack D. Bender who died in 1984. She was a retired registered nurse from The Ohio State University Eye Clinic. She is survived by her children, Donald (Kay) Bender, Blacklick, OH, Barbara Ternovan, Lancaster, PA and John (Barbara) Bender, Charlotte, NC; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Ruth was a 1933 graduate of the Mount Carmel School of Nursing. She was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church and formerly an active member and volunteer at the Upper Arlington Senior Center. She was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and The O.S.U. Buckeyes. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1088 Thomas Lane, where family will receive friends after 9 a.m. Saturday. Fr. Thomas Shonebarger, Celebrant. Interment to follow at Resurrection cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice at Riverside/Grant, 3595 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43214, in her memory. BOMAR Earl J. Bomar, age 83, of Westerville, Oh., formerly of Loveland, St. Clairsville, Houston, Tex. and Louisville, Ky., graduated to eternal life with his heavenly Father Tuesday morning, May 7, 2002 at the Village of Westerville Care Center. Born September 26, 1918 in McAlester, Okla. He is preceded in death by wife Pauline and daughter Susan. He is survived by wife, Janis; daughters, Charlotte and Chuck Ewing of Dublin, Oh., Paula and Craig Scarpitti of Westerville, Oh.; sons, Thomas Bomar of Santa Barbara, Calif., Keith and Karen Bogar of Pleasanton, Calif., Kevin and Lisa Bogar of Broadview Heights, Oh.; grandchildren, Rachel, Jennifer and Adam Ewing, Anthony Scarpitti, Lauren and Anthony Bogar; several nieces and nephews across the country. Retired Marketing Manager of highway materials, Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Retired U.S. Air Force Major and veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Distinguished Unit Badge, the Distinguished Flying Cross, 2 Bronze Stars, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, E.A.M.E. Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, Oak Leaf Clusters to the Air Medal. Two separate memorial services will be held, 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14 at the chapel of Central College Presbyterian Church, 975 S. Sunbury Rd., Westerville, Oh. Dr. Richard Ellsworth, Pastor, officiating and 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 at Loveland Presbyterian Church, 360 Robin Ave., Loveland, Oh. Pastor Wayne Parrish officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Loveland Presbyterian Church Music and Worship Fund.

BROWN Herman "Pete" Brown, age 73, of Columbus, Thursday, May 9, 2002 at his residence. Retired mechanic, Mid State Generator. Employee Meat Department, Big Bear, S. High. Survived by wife, Ivalee; daughter, Delores K. Kinney; grandchildren, Eric Lowell Kinney and Tiffany Nicole Kinney, all of Obetz; great-granddaughter, Tessa Kay Kinney, Lancaster; sisters, Juanita Compton, Ky., Bonnie Williams, Idaho, Mary Lou Parkins, Ariz.; brothers, Robert and George Brown, Idaho; nieces and nephews. CHIDESTER Mildred "Millie" L. Chidester, age 74, of Columbus, passed away, Wednesday, May 08, 2002 at Mount Carmel Medical Center. Millie retired from the Sanese Catering Co. and was assigned to the Battelle Memorial Institute. Millie is preceded in death by her husband William "Bill", son Bob and brother George Peters. Surviving are her sister, Doris (Art) Hoenie; children, Jacqueline Snyder and Michael Chidester; grandchildren, Jeff (Christine) Snyder, Jill Snyder and Amanda Aldrich; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Zachary Snyder. Memorial Service 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002 at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus. Rev. Debbie Holder officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 2-4 and 6-7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. CLIMER Connie Climer, 57, of Lancaster, Oh., Wednesday, May 8, 2002, Convalarium at Indian Run. Preceded in death by her husband Kenny, sons Michael and Mickie Dale Climer, parents Roy and Jane Williams, and sister Mary Regina "Pudge" Bennett. Survived by children, Kenneth Climer, Tina (Martin) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Angela, David, Joey, Louise and Jeremie; sister, Pat (Gene)Bostic; brother, Roy C. Williams Jr.; many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held later. Connie will be greatly missed by her family and friends at Dysart Inc. where she worked for 36 years. DILLION Donna Frances Dillion, 82, of London, died Thursday morning, May 9, 2002 in the Arbors at London Nursing Home. Survivors are her husband, Howard J. Dillion; son and daughter-in-law, Elwood R. "Woody" and Nancy Dillion of London; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Norma Dillion; niece, Cindy Dillion Andrew; nephew, Denny Dillion, all of London. Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the EBERLE FUNERAL HOME, London. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Saturday. Interment will follow in Deercreek Township cemetery.

EDWARDS Sara "Sally" J. Edwards, age 87, of Columbus, passed away, Wednesday, May 08, 2002. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church and retired from Bank One. Sally is preceded in death by her husband Donald. Surviving are her son, Donald N. (Debbie) Edwards; grandchildren, Brian Jason and Kristi Lynn Edwards; sisters, Dorothy Troyer of Utica and Martha Jones of WV. FIELDS George "Bob" Robert Fields, age 68, of Columbus, Oh., died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 in Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Columbus, Oh. Born August 25, 1933 in Laura, Ky., son of the late Joseph and Effie (Lowe) Fields. Mr. Fields was a Tech Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service. He had 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. A life member of VFW Post #2505 and the NCOA. Survived by wife, Donna Jean (Roberts) Fields; daughters, Bobbie Jean, Sue Ann and Jill Marie Fields, all of Columbus; son-in-law, Richard Moore, Lake City, Fla.; grandchildren, Tanya (Curtis) Neeley, Gainesville, Fla. and Jeremy Wayne Moore, Lake City, Fla.; brothers, Fayette (Joan) Fields, South Williamson, Ky., Bill (Jane) Fields, Laura, Ky. and James (Dixie) Sartin, Laura, Ky.; sisters, Madge (Dave) France, Williamson, W.Va. and Betty (Nathan) Jude, Summitt Station, Oh.; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by mother Helen Agin and 4 of his children. Survived by wife, Teresa; daughter, Christina; father, Paul (Patty) Frazier; sisters, Sherry (Ronald) Everetts and Vicky (Dennis) Cline; many nieces and nephews; many special friends. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by children, James (Jill) Friend, Raymond Friend and Kimberlee (Herb) Edwards; grandchildren, Ashley, Alyson, Alex, Adam, Aaron, Abbie, Grace and Kaitlin; sister, Helen Thomas; sister-in-law, Marge Friend; nieces, a nephew and many close friends. She is preceded in death by husband Harold R. Friend, daughter Jenny Melinda Friend and brother Christopher. GILBERT Mary Ann (Nan) Gilbert (French), formerly of New London, Oh., passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at her home in Columbus, Oh. Preceded in death by husband Bill. Survived by children and grandchildren, Laurie and Max Gledhill of Columbus, Oh., Agatha Gledhill of Hope Mills, N.C., Tom, Ann, Megan and Matt Gilbert of Duluth, Ga., Willy and Esther Gilbert of Santa Barbara, Calif., Beth, Jack, Hannah, Abby and Haley Sutton of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; brother, Max French of Elyria, Oh.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ark and Betty Gilbert of New London, Oh.
