Baptized and confirmed, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rome, Oh. Preceded in death by parents Otto and Elma Riebel, brothers Herbert and Howard and sister Lauretha Cain. Survived by sisters, Pauline Dougherty, Hilda Walz, Joan Geyer and Elma (Marlin) Hurd; brother-in-law, F.H. Cain; many nieces, nephews and loving neighbors on Matlacha Blvd. Cremation has taken place.

CAUDILL Gladys Mae Caudill, age 75, died May 17, 2002 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. Gladys was better known as a mom and grandma who made her impression in this world. The people who knew her could not forget her. She will always be treasured, loved and missed by her family and friends. Preceded in death by parents Eligah K. and Lucy Seagraves, sisters Jenny Keaton, Inez Mayes, brother Howard Seagraves, grandson Kent, step-daughter Edith Detty. Survived by children, Vivian (Clyde) Forrest, Michael (Cathy) Mayes, Patsy (Bob) Detty, Gene Thompson, Pam (Terry) Ramey, Betty (Rick) Thomas, Harold (Leesa) Caudill; step-children who she considered to be her own, Elzie Caudill, Mabeline Lawson, Reva Brannan, Pauline Caudill, Benny Caudill, Frank Caudill; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Jessie Seagraves, James Seagraves; sister, Marlene Cobb. COATE Virginia L. Coate, age 85, of Columbus, Thursday, May 16, 2002 at Villa Angela Care Center. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Benjamin D. Coate and brother Robert Brightwell, and survived by her children, son, Charles R. & Sharon Coate of Dublin and daughter, Susan L. (Coate) & Roger Wasem of Columbus; grandchildren, Charles (Wendy) Coate of Calif., Brian Coate and Becky Coate of Dublin, James (Nelcia) Besaw of Columbus, Robert (Susan) Besaw of Westerville, and Margaret (Besaw) and Stephen McCarthy of Bourne, MA; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Ruth) Brightwell of Tampa, Fla. Attended Randolph Macon College and was a 1938 graduate of The Ohio State University. She taught Junior High for 3 years in Laurelville, Oh., and worked in partnership with her husband at Coate Floor Co. and Formitex Plastic Fabricators. Founding Member of St. Andrew Christian Church; former member of East Columbus Lions Club Auxiliary and Past P.T.A. President of Shepherd Elementary School. CRAMER Hazel F. Cramer, age 94, of Obetz, May 17, 2002 at Regency Manor Nursing Center. Member of Obetz Christian Church and Obetz Golden Agers. Formerly was a volunteer with Marion Square Senior Citizens. Preceded in death by brothers Clarence, John and Ed Carrell and infant sister Dorothy. Survived by husband of 74 years, Robert C. Cramer; daughter and son-in-law, Hazel and Harold Meuser of Obetz; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Joann Cramer of Hamilton Meadows; grandchildren, Judy Henson, Bob Meuser, Bill Cramer, Steve Cramer and Cindy Becker; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd Carrell of Columbus; many nieces and nephews. DOUGLAS Jack Erskine Douglas, PhD, age 87, of Worthington, born February 20, 1915 in Corsicana, Tex., died May 17, 2002 at home. He was a professor of Speech Communications at The Ohio State University and the University of Oklahoma. He also served as visiting professor at the University of Texas, University of Kansas and Cornell University. His undergraduate studies were at the University of Oklahoma and he earned his graduate degrees from Northwestern University. Preceded in death by his brothers Claude and Leslie. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Douglas of Worthington; children, Susan (Gary) Parsons of Worthington, Mary Margaret (Stuart) of Dublin and John (Donita) Douglas of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Scott, Casey, Brittany, Amanda, Taylor, John Andrew, Benjamin, Jacquelyn, and Collin; sister, Dorothy Bratton of McAlester, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews. GARDINER William Haven Gardiner, Sr., age 73, Thursday, May 16, 2002 at the O.S.U. Medical Center. A member of Mt. Vernon Ave. A.M.E. Church. Preceded in death by parents, William Haven and Myrtle Gardiner; wife, Annabelle Gardiner; 2 brothers. Survived by his children, Carolyn Cooley, William H., Jr. and Cynthia Gardiner; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Corine Smith; brother, Harold Gardiner; special friend, Mary Burley; many other relatives and friends. GOSS Albert H. Goss, Jr. of Columbus, on May 16, age 79, at Kobacker House after a long battle with Alzheimers. After graduating from South High School in 1941, he served with the Second Army during World War II, fighting in five major battles and landings and earning the Purple Heart. After leaving active duty he served in the Army Reserves until his retirement as a Master Sergeant in 1983. Albert worked 17 years as an Omar Bakery salesman and then began his labors of love at Children's Hospital in 1963. He proudly took part in the growth of Children's until his retirement in 1989, as Director of Environmental Services. He lived by the mottos, "It is nice to be important but it is more important to be nice" and "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all." Preceded in death by loving wife, Marianne Goss, sister Esther Thomas and brother Robert Goss. Survived by son, Fritz A. (Kate) Goss of Columbus; daughters, Alix (Mike) Morenus of Pecos, N.M. and Christina (Terry) Shields of Decatur, Ill.; grandchildren, Karey (Joey) Hall of Groveport, Adam (Casey) Keller of Id., Jennifer Keller of Columbus, Zachary Shields of Decatur, Ill. and Danny and Nora Goss of Worthington; great-grandchildren, Josh and Taylor Keller; sisters, Josephine Fillinger, Evelyn (Chester) Weaver, Dorothy Force; and brothers, Paul (Mary) "Pill" Goss and Roland (Margie) "Rocky" Goss. GRASHEL John D. Grashel, Jr., age 70, of Columbus, died Friday, May 17, 2002 at Grant Medical Center. Retired Industrial Mechanic at the former Sears Distribution Center. U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Member of American Legion Southway Post #144, Columbus, and member of Aerospace and Electrical Engineering Union, Columbus. Survived by mother, D. Mildred Barterbaugh of Prescott, MI; daughters, Joan (John) Lako of Hebron, KY, Janet (Terry) Reynard of Fostoria, OH; grandchildren, Terri (Chris) Price of Findlay, OH, Christopher Reynard of Fostoria, OH; special friend, Hazel Rose of Columbus. Family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Sunday at SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 East State Street. Graveside service 10 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2002 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

HAYNIE Geraldine A. Haynie, age 87, died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at Lutheran Village. She was born on September 4, 1914 in Northfork, W.Va. Service arrangements are incomplete at this time. HENDERSON Fredrick D. Henderson, age 76, Wednesday, May 15, 2002. Funeral service Monday 2 p.m. at in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. HOWE Lois E. Howe, age 91, of Columbus, died at home Friday, May 17, 2002. Survived by her husband of 65 years, Harold W. Howe; sons, Robert D. (Linda) Howe of Worthington and David A. (Judy) Howe of Brooklyn, Oh.; grandchildren, Joan (Erik) Zwilling of Dublin, Jennifer Howe of Powell, Julie Howe of Painesville, Oh. and Jason Howe of Brooklyn, Oh.; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Noah Zwilling; sisters, Mary Hackney of Wilmington, Oh. and Jean Hendrickson of Cape Coral, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Lois was a member of Indianola Church of Christ for more than 50 years and was a 16-year resident of Worthington Christian Village. IGLESIAS Prof. Mario Iglesias, 77, of Worthington, Thursday May 16, 2002, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Professor Iglesias was a teacher, author and a member of the faculty at The Ohio State University where he taught Spanish language and culture for over 30 years. A natural-born teacher, Mario devoted his life to the education of young people of all ages, from the elementary level at Ruston Academy in Havana, Cuba to graduate students at OSU. Mario was generous in spirit, kind of heart, and always humble about his many accomplishments. He was a sage philosopher on Life, with high integrity and endless honesty. A true believer in individual freedom and openness of thought, Mario led his family to the freedom of the United States in 1961 to escape the increasingly oppressive communist regime that was taking over his beloved homeland of Cuba. Never waivering in his courage to start anew, Mario resumed his life as an educator and mentor for countless students who passed through his classes. Mario was a devoted family man, loving husband, caring father and grandfather. His dedication and devotion to his family was ever present and always visible. He was a mentor, best friend, confidante and eternal optimist. Preceded in death by his father Daniel, mother Consola and brother Norberto Iglesias. Mario is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alicia; daughters, Alicia Iglesias (John) Amoss and Amalia Maria Iglesias; grandsons, Jason Alfredo Amoss and Jonas Iglesias Amoss. Member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Columbus Chorus Sweet Adelines, and an avid Hawsey & Euchre card player. Preceded in death by husband Donald A. Johnston and son Donald L. Johnston. KING Deborah Ann Merriman King, 33, died May 13, 2002 at her Columbus home. She left life as she had lived it: surrounded by love. With her gentle demeanor and strength of character, Debbie inspired devotion from her family, friends and students. She was born September 30, 1968 in Toledo, Oh., enjoyed a happy childhood in Westerville and graduated from Westerville South High School in 1986. She and her husband, Kyle, met in high school. Both felt a deep, almost magical bond that grew stronger every year. They were married in 1989. Together they experienced college, a Naval career based in Virginia Beach, Va., teaching in Westerville City Schools and parenthood. Debbie attended Wittenberg University, Virginia Wesleyan and Old Dominion and graduated with honors from Otterbein College in 1990. She taught language arts and was head track coach at Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, Va. Returning to Westerville, she taught language arts at Blendon Middle School. An All-Ohio Capital Conference runner, she coached cross country and track at Blendon, as well as track at Westerville South. She left teaching to devote herself to her young children. Debbie embraced motherhood with great joy, engaging herself fully in every moment. Whether picking apples with the boys or playing kickball with neighborhood children in the cul-de-sac, Debbie loved every minute she spent with her family. Debbie is survived by her husband, Kyle; sons, Griffin and Jason; parents, Bill and Harriet Merriman of Westerville; brother, Michael of Tahoe City, Calif.; grandmother, Marguerite Merriman of Columbus; in-laws, Jack and Bette King of Westerville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kristine (Eric) Robbins of Westerville, Kathleen (John) Harris of Lynn, Ind. and Karen (Ken) Twinem of Westerville; aunts, uncles, 9 nieces and nephews and many friends. Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2002 at Central College Presbyterian Church, 975 S. Sunbury Rd., Westerville. Rev. Jeff Dybdahl officiating. LEVY Dorothy (Wolff) Levy, age 75. Wife of the late Alan V. Levy; mother of David Levy of Milton, MA and Mark Levy of Worthington, Oh.; sister of John C. Wolff of Cheshire, Conn. and the late Catherine Kendall of Takoma Park, Md.; grandmother of Alan and Diana Levy, both of Milton and Benjamin and Harriet Levy, both of Worthington, Oh. A memorial service will be held at the C.C. SHEPHERD FUNERAL HOME, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.), S.
