Cleo "Susie" W. Yoder
(1911 - 2003)

PIONEER - Cleo "Susie" W. Yoder, 91, of Pioneer, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Montpelier.
Born April 21, 1911, at Oakwood, to Clara Belle (Gowman) and George A. Wolffe, she married Ralph L. Yoder and he preceded her in death in October 1988.
A purchasing agent for the Fayette division of Dayton-Walther Corp., Dayton, she retired in 1977 after 23 years of service. She was a 1930 graduate of Libbey High School and had attended Tri-State Business College and Stautinberger Business College. Also, she was the owner and operator of the former Yoder's Posey Shop in Pioneer.
A past Nobel Grand in the Rebecca Lodge I.O.O.F. in Montpelier, she was a member of the Women of the Moose, Eagles Auxiliary, the American Legion in Pioneer and Montpelier. She had been the past president and chairperson of the poppie sales for the Legion Auxiliary for many years and was always involved in marching in the Pioneer and Kunkle Parades.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Norman (Lois) Charron of Satsuma, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews, great and great-greatnieces and nephews; and a lifetime friend, Phyllis Oyer of Pioneer. Preceding her in death was a brother, Roy Wolffe in 2002; three sisters, Laura Domitio in 1995, Viola Holmberg in 1997 and Vida Bratt in 1984; and a nephew, Harold P. Burrow in 1977.
Visitation will be held Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the Thompson Funeral Home-Pioneer. The American Legion Auxiliary will honor her during the visitation.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Lee Ortman to officiate. Interment will be in Floral Grove Cemetery, Pioneer.
Memorials may be made to Hospice, The Caring Way, of Williams and Fulton Counties; Williams County Cancer Assistance; and the Epilepsy Fund.

Mary Eleanor Baker
(1940 - 2003)

Mary Eleanor Baker, 62, of Bryan, died at Harborside Healthcare of Northwestern Ohio-Bryan, early Tuesday morning, Jan. 28, 2003.
Born June 1, 1940, in Terre Haute, Ind., she was the daughter of Mary E. (Baxter) and John A. Baker.
An operations engineer at the Chase Brass & Copper Company of Montpelier for 25 years, she graduated from the University of Toledo with a bachelors degree.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Luther (Sally) L. Bee, and a brother, James A. Baker, both of Toledo. There will be no visitation and private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements were handled by the Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate.

Victoria L. Towns
(1992 - 2003)

DEFIANCE - Victoria L. Towns, 10, of Defiance, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at the Defiance Regional Medical Center, Defiance.
Born June 16, 1992, at Bryan, she was the daughter of Carolyn (Keber) and Steven Towns. A fifth grade student at Defiance Middle School, she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Defiance and attended Living Hope Free Methodist Church in West Unity. She was a member of Girl Scout Troop 1164, played in the Defiance Girls Softball League for the Defiance Clinic and was involved in band and choir at school.
Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Felix (Carolyn) Rosario of Defiance; father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Steven (Lisa) Towns of Bryan; four sisters, Tiffany Towns, Erika Rosario and Breanna Rosario, all of Defiance, and McKenna Towns of Bryan; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James (Helen) Webb of Defiance, Mr. and Mrs. Morris (Lillian) Towns of West Unity, Mr. and Mrs. Felix (Mary) Rosario of Lorain and Mr. and Mrs. Ken (Linda) Zuver of West Unity.
She was preceded in death by a grandfather, Donald Keber.
Visitation will be held today from 2-9 p.m. in the Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the St. Michael Catholic Church, rural Defiance, with Father David Tscherne to officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance County.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Margaret W. Ruffer
(1909 - 2003)

STRYKER - Margaret W. Ruffer, 93, of Stryker, died late Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Fairlawn Haven in Archbold.
Born June 15, 1909, near Stryker, to Hattie (Pumphrey) and George Wieland, she married Paul "Nubbin" Ruffer and he preceded her in death in 1981.
She had been a lifelong homemaker and farm wife.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from noon until the time of service in the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Mel Peter to officiate.
Memorials may be made to Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home.

Elmer A. Lang
(1927 - 2003)

DEFIANCE - Elmer A. Lang, 75, of Defiance, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at his residence.
Born Dec. 25, 1927, at Buffalo, N.Y., to Bernice (Willis) and Helmuth G. Lang, he married Perlie McGuire-Coleman in 1989 and she survives.
Retiring in 1990 from GM Powertrain, he had served with the U.S. Army during World War II (1946-1947) and with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict (1951-1955). He was a life member of the VFW No. 3360, a member of Amvets Post 1991 and the Defiance Moose, Eagles and Elks.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two stepsons, Michael Levitsky of Fort Worth, Texas and Roy Coleman of Defiance; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jim (Diane) Wardrup of Fort Worth, Texas ; seven stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Lang of Tanner, Ala. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Waltra Lang in 1988, and a stepson, Jeff Coleman. Visitation will be held Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 1-8 p.m. in the Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. James Stewart and the Rev. Max Begley to officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Defiance County Hospice.

F. Delmar Franks
(1923 - 2003)

STRYKER - F. Delmar Franks, 80, of Stryker, died late Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Harborside Healthcare Northwestern Ohio-Bryan.
Born March 17, 1923, at Hicksville, to Mary (Clutz) and Ruben Franks, he married Jane Kieffer and she preceded him in death in 1977. He married Mary Burkhart in 1981 and she survives. Prior to retirement, he had been employed at the Stryker Tile Yard, Stryker Lumber and the Stryker Elevator.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ronald Franks of Crystal Falls, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mary Lee) Luke of Bryan; two stepsons, Jim (and fiancˇ, Jamie Meadows) Hildbrandt of Stryker and Bill (and wife, Tricia) Hildbrandt of Stryker; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Peter (Kathy) Stipe of West Unity; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Delbert Franks of New Wago, Mich.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Ray Franks, and two sisters, Ida  Jones and Hazel Sawyer.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Nick Woodall to officiate. Interment will follow in the Farmer Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Dorthea J. Sauder
(1927 - 2003)

ARCHBOLD - Dorthea J. Sauder, 75, of Archbold, died Thursday morning, March 27, 2003, at the Toledo Hospital, where she had been a patient since Feb. 16.
Born Aug. 16, 1927, at Cloverdale, to Elizabeth (Good) and Aaron Good, she married Loren Sauder on Oct. 28, 1949, and he survives.
A resident of the Archbold area for the past 53 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Central Mennonite Church near Archbold.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Steven (and wife, Rachel) Sauder and Nathan Sauder, both of Archbold; a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Nancy) Durham of Napoleon; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Lowell (Lena) Good of Hesston, Kansas, and Marvin (Geneva) Good of Archbold; and two sisters, Mrs. Ivan (Bertha) Bontrager of Hesston, Kansas, and Mrs. Eldon (Helen) Heatwole of Palm Bay, Fla.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a granddaughter, Sharon Elizabeth Sauder.
Visitation will be held Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Fairlawn Chapel.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Central Mennonite Church with Pastor Jeffrey Smith and Pastor Herman Myers to officiate. Interment will precede in the Pettisville Cemetery.
Short Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
