DODSON Alison (Grubic) Dodson, age 42, of Columbus, died May 27, 2002 at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, after a two year battle with breast cancer. Born in Amherst, OH. Active member of the Church of the Resurrection. Employed for 15 years by the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging. Assisted husband as owner of Zaber Pools of Columbus, Inc. Earned BSN in 1982 from The Ohio State University School of Nursing where she was also a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. 1977 Graduate of Marion L. Steele High School. As a member of the Hat Ladies, a cancer support group, Alison's determination and continued spiritual growth were a constant inspiration to others. Despite her many health set backs, she continued to enjoy life, taking family ski trips to Colorado and vacations to Florida. Preceded in death by father, Nick Grubic of Lorain. Survived by husband, Randy Dodson (Northwest Airlines); son, Ryan; daughter, Carly; mother, Arlene Grubic of North Port, FL; mother-in-law, Nora Lee Dodson; sister, Peggy (Blaise) Baker of Clintonville; brother, Fritz Grubic of New London; and many longtime friends, relatives, neighbors. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH. Survived by children, Leon David Elson, Groveland, Mass., Carolyn Elson, Tewksbury, Mass., Rabbi Jeffrey Elson, Pickerington, Oh.; brothers, David and Felix Markow; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter. ENGDAHL Helen Klaas Engdahl, 90, longtime resident of Grandview Heights, passed away at First Community Village Healthcare Center, April 30, 2002. Born December 14, 1911 near Pierce, Ill. Received Masters degree in chemistry from University of Chicago. Member of First Community Church, Cliff/Heights Senior Center where she enjoyed many years as a Jolly Stepper dancer and several scientific societies. Preceded in death by parents Louis and Malinda Klaas, sisters Rosalind Schimpff and Iola Vogt, husband Richard and daughter Karen. Survived by son, Eric (Allyson) Engdahl, Grandview Heights, Oh.; foster sons, Mac (Barbara) Kaiser, Alpharetta, Ga., Kim (Sandy) Kaiser, San Diego, Calif.; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nephews, Warren (Jill) Schimpff, Jeffersonville, Ind., Wayne (Gail) Schimpff, Chicago, Ill. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 1 at 11 a.m. in the Burkhart Chapel at First Community Church. Rev. Barbara Cunningham officiating. FINNEGAN Bernice Joan Finnegan, RN, passed away Monday May 27, 2002. Born May 6, 1935 in Shamokin, PA. A graduate of Coal Township High School, Shamokin, PA, Class of 1952, and attended Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing in Harrisburg, PA, receiving her RN in 1956. She worked as a registered nurse for the Veteran's Administration in Coatsville, PA, retired from The Central Ohio Psychiatric Hospital in Columbus. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and The Ohio Association of Registered Nurses. Survived by mother, Stella Sienkiewicz and sister, Antoinette (Robert) Entwisle of Mechanicsburg, PA; brother, Frank J. (Clara) Sienkiewicz of Enola, PA; daughters, Cynthia L. (Gerald) Slater of Reynoldsburg, Melanie E. (Brian) Roy of Gahanna; sons, Thomas U. Finnegan, Michael P. Finnegan of Columbus and William M. (Deborah) Finnegan of Whitehall; grandchildren, Sara, Amy, and Melissa Slater of Reynoldsburg, Nicole Ater of Columbus, Aubree Babcock and Leah Finnegan of Whitehall; and former spouse, Thomas C. FIX Lou Siller Fix, age 91, of Columbus, OH, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2002 at her residence following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband John Fix, parents James and Mary Reed, sisters Minnie Taylor and Julia Cecil and brothers Herbert Reed, Aaron Reed and Norman Reed. She is survived by daughter, Leonora Fix of Bexley, OH and son, James Fix of McMurray, PA; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; special friend and caretaker, Roy Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. GIBSON Myrtle M. Gibson, age 93, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2002 at Wesley Glen Health Center. She was born in Mt. Sterling, Oh. and lived a very full and active life in central Oh. Preceded in death by husband Paul E. Gibson and infant son Jeff. Survived by son, John (Jack) Gibson and wife, Lu, residing in Heath, Oh.; granddaughters, Amanda Gibson and Gretchen Catron and husband, Ken from Calif.; niece, Barbara Parsons and husband, John and niece, Sue Hurst and husband, Dave and their families. She was a retired Membership Secretary and Parish Visitor for North Broadway Methodist Church, member of the Alter Guild, the North Broadway United Methodist Church Secretaries Association, PEO Ohio State Chapter, Clintonville Woman's Club (Silver Spokes) and a Life member of the Columbus Woman's Golf Association. She was an enthusiastic golfer for over 60 years as well as an active volunteer for the Red Cross. Service will be held Saturday, June 1 at 10:30 a.m. at the WEIR-AREND FUNERAL HOME, 4221 N. High St. (3 blocks S of Henderson Rd.), where friends may call 1 hour prior to service. Rev. Ed Lewis and Rev. Richard Ward officiating. Interment Union cemetery. HARDEN Phyllis D. Harden, 47, of Dorchester Dr., Windsor, Conn., passed away Saturday, May 25, 2002 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born in Columbus, Oh. and was a member of the Metropolitan AME Zion Church. She was also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She is survived by son, Maurice Harden of Windsor, Conn.; mother, Mildred Davenport of Columbus, Oh.; 3 brothers, Larry, Glen and Otis Davenport; and a host of other relatives and friends in Columbus, Oh. and Hartford, Conn. Callng hours will be Wednesday, May 29, 6-8 p.m. at Metropolitan AME Zion Church, 2051 Main St., Hartford, Conn. Calling hours in Columbus will be 12-1 p.m. and funeral service 1 p.m. Friday, May 31 at First AME Zion Church, 873 Bryden Rd., Columbus, Oh. Burial will follow in Kingwood cemetery, Columbus, Oh.

HEASTON Shirley J. Heaston, age 72, of Grove City, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002 at Grant Medical Center. She was a graduate of Cleveland Hts. High School and a volunteer at Grant Medical Center for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter. She is survived by her sons, Wayne (Ruth), Keith (Christine), Brian (Elizabeth) and Dana (fiancé, Linda) Heaston; daughters, Sherrie Towner and Lisa (fiancée, Charles) Heaston; 3 brothers; a sister; and special friend, Jack Cassady. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at SCHOEDINGER-NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway. HEDRICK Thomas B. Hedrick, age 97, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002. He retired from the C&O Railroad in 1969. Member of Southside Church of Christ. Preceded in death by a son Burton E. Hedrick. Survived by his loving wife of 71 yrs., Madeline R. Hedrick; daughter, Viola R. (George) Steinhour; sons, Samuel C. (Mary) Hedrick and James W. (Lelah) Hedrick; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the O.R. WOODYARD CO CHAPEL, 1346 S. High St., where the funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. Rev. J.D. Hite officiating. Interment Forest Lawn cemetery.

HEINZMAN William M. "Bill" Heinzman, age 74, Monday, May 27, 2002 at Doctors Hospital West. Graduate of West High School Class of 1946. US Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Member of American Legion Don Gentile Post #532, Engineer's Club, and ACI. Fifty-year member of Columbia Heights United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by parents Samuel and Dorothy (Morris) Heinzman and son Michael A. Heinzman. Survived by wife of 51 years, LaVerta A. (Abel) Heinzman; son, Patrick (Theresa) Heinzman; daughter, Wendy (Carl) Heinzman-Johnson; grandchildren, Adam, Nathan, Courtney, and Brittany. KEATON Mr. Timothy Ray Keaton, 37, of 1369 Algonquin, Lebanon, Oh., formerly of Flint, Mich., was dead on arrival early Sunday morning, May 26, 2002 at a Columbus, Oh. hospital. Born April 16, 1965 in Flint, Mich., he was the son of Marlin and Betty Mosley Keaton of Jumping Branch, W.Va., formerly of Flint, Mich. Survivors, in addition to his parents; 2 children, Blake Anthony Keaton of Shelby, Oh., Jada Love Keaton of N. Lebanon, Oh.; 4 sisters, Cathy Renee Keaton of Flint, Mich., Tina Louise Main of Rincon, Ga., Jennifer Marie Keaton of Columbus, Oh., Angela Marlene Keaton of Hinton. LONGHINO Wilma J. Longhino, 74, our beloved mom, grandma, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at Mt. Carmel West CCU, Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2002. Graduate of North High School. Former employee of Ohio Bell and Lazarus Westland as a hostess in the dining room. She was acknowledged as the first volunteer to work at the surgery reception desk at Mt. Carmel West. Her last day to volunteer was Tuesday morning May 21st. Preceded in death by husband Frank, parents Albert and Nellie Cochrun, sister Helen Shade and brother Jack Cochrun. Survived by devoted children, Barry (Barb) and Cindy (John); grandchildren, Frankie and Joey; step-grandson, Ryan; and cat, Samantha. Also survived by brother, Bud Cochrun; special nieces, Barb and Kim; many special family members; special neighbors, Dolly and Ray, Peggy and Don, Ed and Shirley; and many friends from her neighborhood, Mt. LOSSING Frank H. Lossing, born April 14, 1921, in Redford, Mich., passed away Thursday, May 23, 2002. He was a Captain in the United States Air Force in World War II, flying as a navigator on forty-five B-24 bombing missions over the South Pacific. Upon his return, he graduated from Michigan State University, was employed as a sales manager for IBM and later had his own business, Electro-Systems. He was a member of the Bexley United Methodist Church, the Columbus Country Club and the Downtown Kiwanis Club, of which he was a past President. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Wuerfel Lossing; his brother, Robert Lossing of La Jolla, Calif.; children, Sally (Bob) Davis of Orlando, Fla., Roger (Charlene) Lossing of Granville, Oh., Russell (Debbie) Lossing of New York City; and grandchildren, Kyle Davis, Philip Davis, Laura Ashley Lossing, Andrew Lossing and Abbey Lossing. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. LUTES Catherine L. Lutes, age 93, of Bexley, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2002. Preceded in death by husband Howard Lutes, October 2001.
She is survived by son, John Lutes of Chevy Chase, MD; daughters, Mary Elias of Bexley and Margaret Lutes of Columbus; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
