KELLY Elmer N. Kelly, 91 years, of Whitehall, passed away May 30, 2002 at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Reynoldsburg, Oh. He was born in Gallia County, Bidwell, Oh., June 26, 1910. Preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Lucinda Kelly, wife Una Mae Tilley, sister Myrtle Kelly and brothers Bernard and Weaver Kelly. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 6 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at Nelson Funeral Chapel, Danbury, N.C., where the family will receive friends following the service. KENT Jay W. Kent, Jr., age 82, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2002 at Lutheran Village. Member of Humboldt Masonic Lodge #476 F&AM and Aladdin Temple Shrine. Accountant Clerk at the Board of Elections for many years. Survived by wife of 32 years, Edith B. Kent; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Carol Burton of Gahanna; nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Thursday 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn cemetery. Pastor Andrew Wilch officiating. Eldest daughter of Joseph W. and Ada M. Major who preceded her in death. Also preceded by sister Antoinette M. Washington. Survived by sister, Linda J. Dickerson; brothers, James Major and Joseph Major; a host of nieces, nephews, adopted families and great friends. Service of memory Saturday 1 p.m. Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, W.VA. MATCHNEER William Wade Matchneer, Jr., 78, June 3, 2002. Survived by his loving wife, Sally; son, William Wade (Laurie) Matchneer III, and her son, Brian Pieczko; son, Frederick (Josie) Matchneer, and their sons, Christopher and Sebastian; daughter, Nell (Douglas) Schiavi and their children, Adrienne and Alex; step-daughter, Catherine (Wayne) Bardsley and their children, Edward and Jeffrey; sister Mary (Ferd) Schoedinger. Preceded in death by brother, George H. Matchneer, and step-son William S. Sirak. Graduate of Mercersburg Academy, and Cornell University, where he was a varsity basketball player and All-American soccer player. Member of the US Army Air Corps during World War II. Former member of the Columbus Club, Columbus Athletic Club, and Past President of Rocky Fork Hunt and Country Club. After retirement as an insurance executive, he became an avid and talented sculptor. He was a man admired and beloved for his decency and dignity, a true gentleman who will be missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by husband Paul Mills, mother Daisy Joyce, father James Watkins, step-father Joseph Joyce, sister Mamie Freeman and brothers Herbert and Nathan Joyce. Survived by daughters, Juanita Craft and Jennie (Rudolph) Wilson; sons, George (Joyce), Edgar (Florence), James (Barbara), Harold (Doris) and Maurice Mills; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sister, Delphine Gilliam; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friend, Elder Luessie Burke. MUIRHEAD David E. Muirhead, age 74, of Columbus, Monday, June 3, 2002 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center. Born September 13, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pa. to the late John and Marguerite (Marvin) Muirhead. He was a retired Tech Sgt. with the U.S. Air Force, and later was employed at Hammond Electronics and Bobb Chevrolet. Survived by his wife of 45 years, Trudy; daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Dennis Alford, Columbus; son, David M. Muirhead, Seattle, Wash.; sisters, Esther Philips, Pittsburgh, Pa., Grace Beckett, Miamitown; brother, Paul Muirhead, Spokane, Wash.; nieces and nephews; four-legged friends, Murphy, Mitzi and Schatzie; and many other close friends.
