WARD Clara Ward, 93, of Delaware, formerly of Waverly, died early this morning, (June 10, 2002), at the Arbors. She was born May 11, 1909 in Cleveland to Alex and Apolania (Rataiczak) Katoski. She was a seamstress for Richmond Brothers in Cleveland for 37 years, a Delaware resident for 8 years and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware. She is survived by a niece and nephew-in-law, Moneth and Donald Piper of Calif.; 2 great-nephews, Mark and Justin Piper, all of Calif.; 1 sister-in-law, Mary Ann Montoney of Delaware; 2 brothers-in-law, William Ward of Delaware and Joseph Ward of Bremerton, Wash.; and several loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1996 and her sister Helen Williams. Calling hours will be held at BENNETT BROWN RODMAN FUNERAL HOME, Delaware on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m., where a vigil of prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery in Columbus. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware, Oh. 43015. WARNER Donald G. Warner, age 77, of Reynoldsburg, passed away at home Sunday, June 9, 2002. He retired from ABC Gas Leak, was a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant WW II veteran, received Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantry Medal, was a member of 78th Division Veterans Association. He is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Grace Warner, sister Florence Masters, brothers Robert and Kenneth Warner. He is survived by his wife, Rosella; daughters, Judy and Marcia Warner; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His family will receive friends Wednesday 7-9 p.m. at the COTNER FUNERAL HOME, 7369 East Main St., Reynoldsburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the 78th Division Veterans Association, P.O. Box 496, 432 Waters Station Rd., Evans City, Pa. 16033.

BARB M. Ann Smith Barb, age 78, of Johnstown died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at St. Ann's Hospital. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2002 at CROUSE-KAUBER-SAMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 225 N. BROCK Meredith Rhodes Brock, age 92, died at Westminster Towers in Bradenton, Fla., on June 11, 2002. Retired Engineer for the City of Columbus. Member of the Masonic Lodge No. 30 F&AM. Preceded in death by beloved wife Alice Evans Brock to whom he was married 70 years. Survived by loving daughter & son, Judy (Jim) Bush and M. Robert (Yvonne) Brock; eight loved grandchildren, Jim (Lisa) Bush, Erin (Dr. Carl) Bates, Shannon (Honorable Scott) Van Der Karr, Allison Bush, Brenda Bush-Sayre, Martin (Vicky) Brock, Teri (Joel) Serowoky and Dale (Debbie) Brock; nine great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his happy, fun-loving personality and tireless help to family, friends and neighbors. He had a love of music and played the organ and wrote poetry, some of which was published. As an avid golfer, he belonged to the elite group of "hole in one." At a young age, he loved flying and eventually owned his own plane. Family has requested no calling hours. Private entombment Green Lawn cemetery. CAMPBELL Margaret Jandes Campbell, age 79, of Dublin, died Sunday, June 9, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born on July 16, 1922 in Clinton County, Oh. and graduated from Rome Canaan High School in Stewart, Oh. She attended The Ohio State University. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed for her kind and gentle nature. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Linda Campbell, Leawood, KS; daughter, Constant "Connie" Campbell, Lakewood, OH; grandsons, Matthew Ian Campbell and his wife, Michele and Adam Andrew Campbell, Des Moines, Iowa; sisters and brother-in-law, Madelon and Bertram Hanson, Muskegon, MI and Betty Becker, Warren, OH. Margaret was a tireless volunteer in hospitals in Cleveland and Columbus. She particularly liked working in the pediatric wards, where she helped bring joy to children. She, along with her husband, sponsored an on-going annual scholarship for graduates of her old high school to attend Ohio University. Margaret also joined her husband in leading cruises to 31 countries in the years following his retirement as editor of the Columbus Citizen-Journal. She was a supportive member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Columbus Art Museum, Franklin Park Conservatory, Grant Hospital Women's Board and Pilot Dogs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard Campbell in August, 2001. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd. Dr. Frank Luchsinger officiating. Private interment Athens, Oh. CARMEAN Mary Patricia "Patty" (Powers) Carmean, age 76, of Grove City, went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 10, 2002. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and a graduate of Holy Family High School. Preceded in death by her parents Patrick and Florence Powers, an infant daughter Regina, and a sister Helen F. Campbell. Patty is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert Carmean; her beloved children, Daniel (Maureen) Carmean of Grove City, Pamela (Robert) Toms of IN, Robert (Janette) Carmean of Orient, Timothy and Michael Carmean of Athens and Barbara (Jeffrey) Johnson of Galloway; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 584 West Broad St., Columbus. Fr. Shawn Corcoran officiating. Interment St. Joseph cemetery. CARTER Mary Eldora Carter, age 78, of Columbus, died Monday, June 10, 2002 at Arlington Court Nursing Home. She is preceded in death by her husband William S. Carter and her parents George A. & Esther (Thompson) Righter. Her survivors include her cousins, David Thompson, Georgia Summer, Mary Huiett & Dorothy Heffner and many friends. She was a member of the Chicago Avenue Christian Church and the Anchor Class as well as the Redman Lodge, Souix Tribe No. 128. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002 at the RUTHERFORD-SCHROYER FUNERAL HOME, 1278 West Broad Street, Columbus, with the Rev. Ed Hughes officiating. CHAPMAN Ardis Ellis Chapman, age 92, of Columbus, died Sunday, June 9, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born December 21, 1909 in Belle Center, Oh. to the late Claude Renick and Estelle (Williams) Ellis. Ardis is preceded in death by her husband Edward Michael Chapman and son Richard Owen Chapman. She is survived by her children, Elaine (Philip) Clark of Worthington, Michael (Arvella) Chapman of Centerburg, Hayden (Norma) Chapman of Columbus, Stefen (Corrine) Chapman of Troy, Oh. and Bronwen (Wayne) Schuetz of New Braunfels, Tex.; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, very good neighbors and friends. She was formerly a secretary at Epworth United Methodist Church. Ardis was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of 1812, Ohio Geneological Society, Society of First Families of Ohio, the Ohio Historical Society and the Welsh Society of Central Ohio. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2002 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, 614-885-4006. Interment Fairview cemetery, Belle Center, Oh. D'COSTA Yvonne Teresa (Soares) D'Costa, retired school psychologist for the Columbus Public Schools, succumbed to her chronic heart and diabetes ailments on Sunday morning. She was the beloved wife of 43 years of Ayres D'Costa (a professor At The Ohio State University College of Education), mother of Rob (Melissa) D'Costa and mother aunt of Divya and Jitesh Soares. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents Aloysius and Priscilla Soares and by her siblings Grace, Iris, Vincent, Ernest and Joseph Soares. Her loss is deeply mourned by her brothers, Aloysius and Maurice; sisters, Angela, Eileen and Barbara; sisters-in-law, Martha, Freda and Vilma Soares; brother-in-law Albert Fernandes; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces and friends. Yvonne's career began as a school teacher at Our Lade of Perpetual Succour in Bombay, India. She also spent much of her time with Mother Theresa's order, helping the poor and orphaned children in Calcutta, India. She came to the United States with Ayres and in 1963 graduated with a Master's Degree in Education from Ohio University. She spent most of her working career with the Columbus Public Schools focusing on the educational needs of handicapped children. Yvonne was also a very active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a strong advocate for the disabled. She had a great appreciation for the arts and was a very talented pianist. She will be most remembered for her incredible sense of humor. Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, June 12, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, Oh. 43229, where a wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. that evening. Mass of Christian Burial will he held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1300 Urban Dr., Columbus, Oh. 43229. Fr. Mark Ghiloni, Celebrant.
