She was born July 31, 1944 in Vinton County, Oh. She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth Harper Dempsey. Helen is survived by her father, Edgar Dempsey of Jackson, Oh.; 1 daughter, Judy Dawson of Columbus; 4 brothers, Robert, Eugene and Butch Dempsey, all of Jackson and Donald Dempsey of Ga.; 1 grandchild, J.W. Dawson. DeMATTEO Carmine J. DeMatteo, age 69, Tuesday, July 30, 2002. A Korean War Veteran, he served aboard the USS Antietam, CVS-36, from 1955-58. He was a retired tool and die maker from General Motors, U.A.W. Local 969 committeeman; served on the Board of Directors for Western Credit Union. Member of St. John the Baptist Church, Knights of Columbus, Graduate of West High School, (January, 1951). Member of USS Antietam Association, National Street Rod Association, Moose Lodge #11, American Legion Post #0532. Survived by wife, Carol DeMatteo; daughters, Angela (Terry) Cook and children, Derek and Ryan Cook of Hilliard, Lisa (Tom) Peters and children, Anthony, Andrew and Matthew Carmine Peters of Dayton, Oh.; step-sons, John Patterson of Middletown, Conn. and Glen Patterson of Columbus; parents, Charles and Angeline DeMatteo of Grove City; sisters, Mary Ann (Carmine) Cervi of Toledo, Oh., Anita Lantz of Columbus; and mother-in-law, Shirley Campbell of Huntington, W.V.; aunts and uncles; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. EDWARDS Ina Whitt Edwards, 78, of Morehead, Ky., formerly of Columbus, Oh., died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at St. Claire Medical Center, Morehead, Ky. Born April 27, 1924 in Morgan County, Ky., daughter of the late Walter and Effie Caskey Whitt. She was a homemaker. She was the of Church of God Faith. Preceded in death by husband Richard Lee Edwards, who passed away on September 14, 1979. Survived by son, Richard W. Edwards and his wife, Cynthia of Morehead, Ky.; daughters, Sandra Sue Maxwell and her husband, Richard of Concord, N.C. and Vicki Belknap and her husband, William of Columbus, Oh.; sister, Edna Ulrey of Morehead, Ky.; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. FLYNN Doris C. Flynn, age 86, of Westerville, formerly of Groveport, Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Mt. Carmel St. Ann's Hospital. Born April 21, 1916 in Manistee, Mich. to the late Edward L. and Ruth Irene (Turvell) Bohnow. She and her husband Jim operated the B & J Carry-Out in Groveport from 1968-1978, and she was a member of Pope John XXIII Parish. Preceded in death by her husband James M. Flynn in 1989, grandson Michael Paul Morgan and brother Edward L. Bohnow. She was the loving and devoted mother of Mary Morgan, Westerville and JoAnne (Raymond) Alam-Sakiewicz, Grays Lake, Ill.; cherished grandmother of Kathleen Wood, Hilliard, Fred (Lynn) Morgan, Waverly, James Todd (Beth) Morgan, Canal Winchester, Liebe (Douglas) Samolinski, Round Lake Beach, Ill., Elish Teller, Lake Villa, Ill. and Thomas J. HOEHMAN Chief Machinist Mate (Surface Warfare) Timothy Paul Hoehman, age 37, of Sasebo, Japan (formerly of Hilliard), died suddenly as a result of an accident July 22, 2002 in Sasebo, Japan. Tim was born March 31, 1965 in Cambridge, England. Active member of the United States Navy having served 19 years. Chief Hoehman's personal awards include seven Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, four Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal (with 1 Bronze Star), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (with 2 Bronze Stars), the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy "E" Ribbon (1 Gold "E"), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2 Bronze Stars) and the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Insignia. Survivors include wife, Maggie Nacional Hoehman; 2 sons, Allen Nacional Hoehman and Timothy J. "T.J." Hoehman; daughter, Trisha Hoehman, all at home; father and step-mother, Paul F. and Margaret Hoehman of Port Allegany, Pa.; brother, John David Hoehman of Galloway; 3 sisters, Pauleen (John) Lanning of Galloway, Tracey Leadstrom of Columbus and Denise (David) Stahl of London; several nieces, nephews and many friends. MINTON Pauline Henke (Fauth) Minton, age 79, of Upper Arlington, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was a graduate of Creston High School in 1940 in Grand Rapids, MI. In 1952, Pauline settled in Columbus, where she was employed at Battelle Memorial Institute for 34 years before retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Upper Arlington Senior Center, enjoying many of the activities. Pauline was also a member of various senior dance groups at one time. She is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Minton; daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Jerry Woodruff of Columbus; son, William D. Fauth of Chattanooga, TN and step-son, Michael M. Minton of Columbus. Pauline is also survived by five grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Tuller of Houston, TX, Wendy Tuller of Columbus, Lara Haynes, Jessica and Emily Fauth, all of Chattanooga, TN; and step-grandson, Anthony Minton of Columbus. Other survivors include five great-grandchildren, Ora McCarthy and Michael Tuller of Columbus, Travis and Madison Tuller of Houston, TX and Daniel Haynes of Chattanooga, TN. Other family survivors include a brother, Robert C. (Reta) Henke of Grand Rapids, MI; sister-in-law, Margaret Fauth of Columbus and several nieces, nephews and cousins. MITCHELL Vivian Jane Mitchell, passed from labor to reward into the arms of Jesus, Friday, July 26, 2002 at Mt. Carmel Hospital, at the age of 73 years old. She was a faithful and dedicated member of The Imani Christian Church, a minister of the Gospel, Praise and Worship Leader, and a member of the Imani Mother's Board. She was employed by the City of Columbus for 16 years at The Columbus Parks and Recreation Department.
