MURRAY Richard Lee Murray, 75, of Somerset, died at Genesis-Good Samaritan on Wednesday, July 31, 2002. Dick was born February 8, 1927 in New Lexington, the son of the late Robert W. and Esther Bowers Murray. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He retired after 30 years as a machinist for Lucent Technologies. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Mary Lou Prichard Murray, of the home; 2 sons, Timothy Murray of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Bruce (Debbie) Murray of Columbus; 2 daughters, Lisa Murray of Mt. Gilead and Paula (Brian) Spillman of Columbus; grandchildren, Andy, Alexis and Katherine Spillman and Melissa, Megan and Will Murray; 1 brother, David (Emma Lou) Murray of Jacksontown; 1 sister, Martha Chute of New Lexington; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2002 at the BOPE-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME in Somerset, where prayer service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Friday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church near Somerset with Fr. Tony Breen as Celebrant. PATRICK After an extended illness Dr. George Milton Patrick, 81, war hero, professional opera singer, published poet, dentist, scholar and beloved family man, died on July 30, 2002 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. His grieving family includes his wife of 31 years, Jane Austin Patrick; sister, Ruth Garcia of Daytona Beach, Fla.; step-son, Duke Anthony-Spencer Austin of Spokane, Wash.; step-daughter, ToniLee Candice Spencer of Huntington Beach, Calif.; grandchildren, Megan Venturino of Columbus, Jennifer Hughes of Columbus and Michael Hughes of Huntington Beach; son-in-law, Kevin Hughes of Columbus; and 2 great-grandchildren. His dear son Geoffrey Patrick preceded him in death in 1976. Beloved friends, among many, are John and Clay Stettner, Osee Jean Stettner Althouse, Mike Chakeres, Tim Cronin, Patrick Burns, Nicholas Park Loren and Charlotte Wielezynski. Dr. Patrick was born in Logan County, W.Va. on September 27, 1920. On May 15, 1942 he volunteered for Paratroopers in U.S. Army. His army experiences as a paratrooper medic were the defining moments of his life. Dr. Patrick received a Battlefield Commission after making four combat jumps with the 505th, 82nd Airborne, and serving in the Battle of the Bulge and in the Rhineland. He was awarded the Bronze Star with a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, the Soldier's Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, a Purple Heart with a Bronze Ooak Leaf Cluster, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a Bronze Star (a unit citation), a World War II Victory Medal, (unit citation), a Combat Medical Badge, The Belgian Fourragere, the Netherlands Orange Lanyard, and a Presidential Unit Citation. For valor in combat, he was recently inducted into the Ohio Military Hall of Fame for Valor. A graduate of Capital University and the Ohio State University College of Dentistry, he was in private practice of dentistry for twelve years on the East Side of Columbus and served as acting Chief of the Dental Division of the State of Ohio for a time while employed by the State as a Dental Consultant for 12. He sang two seasons with OperaColumbus, sang with First Community Church Choir for 25 years, and with Vaud-Villties for 20 years, and was a published poet. He was president of the Columbus Society of Dentistry for Children and of the Northwest Division of the Ohio Public Health Association, and vice-president of the Columbus Dental Society. A Service of memory will be held at First Community Church at 1320 Cambridge Blvd. (at First Street) in Marble Cliff on Friday, August 2, at 10 a.m. in Burkhart Chapel. The Rev. Mr. James M. Long officiating with Ronald J. Jenkins, Minister of Music and liturgy. There will be visiting hours after the service at the church. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the First Community Church Foundation in memory of Dr. Patrick. OHIO CREMATION AND MEMORIAL SOCIETY/RODMAN FUNERAL SERVICE.

PEARSON Stella M. Pearson, age 89, went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ and into the waiting and loving arms of her granddaughter Lisa, who went home just 4 weeks ago. She is survived by daughters, Barbara (Ron) Auteri, Linda Nisley, Beverly (Haskel) Johnson; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Retha White; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the O.R. WOODYARD CO. CHAPEL, 1346 S. High St., where the funeral service will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Randy Barr officiating. Interment Obetz cemetery. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

POTTER (BARNETT) On Wednesday, July 24, 2002 in late afternoon at Arbors East. While His Eyes was on the Sparrow, saying "Peace Be Still", Rose (Barnett) Potter stepped on board that "Old Ship of Zion" at the young age of 61. Rose was born November 19, 1939 to the blessed union of the late Charles Barnett and Emogene Bell in Columbus, Oh. In this union came four children, Rose was the third. She accepted Jehovah back in her life 11 years ago at the Eastgate Congregation of Columbus. She was a product of the public school system of Columbus. One of Rose's favorite things to do was to shop with her daughter. Rose worked and retired from Bryden Place Nursing Home with 32 years of service. She leaves to cherish her memory her loyal and loving son, Tisa and wife Diane of Columbus, who was her best friend and daughter; four grandchildren, Tisa Jr., (T.J.), Terence, Curtis and Tekelia; five great-grandchildren, Kobe, Aalexus, Tierra, Terence Jr. and Teshawn; brother Emerson Barnett and sister, Emogene Carter, all of Columbus and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2002 at Kingdom Hall Eastgate Congregation, 1555 College Ave. Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL.

QUINN Ella Marie Quinn, age 92, of Baltimore, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at her residence. Preceded in death by her husband William H., parents John and Etha Rose, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Those left to cherish her memory are children, John (Renee) of Pataskala, Martha Conley of Baltimore and Margaret (Duane) Casto of Pataskala; granddaughter, Deborah; grandsons, Duane II (Sue), William (Eva), John (Marie), James (Melissa), Gary (Linda), David and Martin; 9 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. REED Marvin Lewis Reed, age 46, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at the OSU Medical Center after a brief illness. He attended school at Windemere Elementary and Neil Avenue School, and training programs at the United Cerebral Palsy Center and ARC Industries, Inc. He was a happy and enthusiastic resident of the Villa Angela Care Center in the Northland area since 1989. He is preceded in death by his parents Marvin Reed and Susan Beckner Reed. He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jan (Terry) Hollern, Pam (Jim) Nye of Lubbock, TX, Debbie (Barry) Jamieson, Margy (Terry) Wright; and seven nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2002 at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, 2300 Lytham Road, with reception to immediately follow. Pastor John Stolzenbach officiating. SPENCER Martha Ellen Black Spencer, age 89, of Upper Arlington, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Whetstone Care Center. She received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from The Ohio State University. She retired as Primary Supervisor at the Ohio School for the Deaf, following a lengthy career. Her son, David R. Spencer precedes her in death. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. R. H. Spencer; daughters, Susan (Bruce) Martin and Jane (Robert) Woodard; grandchildren, Paul (Anita) and Kate Woodard; brother, James J. Black. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2002 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, where friends will be received Saturday after 1:30 p.m. Private inurnment, Union cemetery, Cadiz, OH. STARKS Greta Mae Starks, departed this life on Sunday, July 28, 2002 after a lengthy illness. She was born February 13, 1935 in Elkhorn, W.Va. where she completed her high school education and relocated to Columbus, Oh. in 1954. She spent the last 3 years at the Canterbury at Cedar Grove Care and Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Grove, N.J. Greta graduated from Ohio Dominican College where she obtained a degree in gerontology. She was a faithful employee of Scioto Village School for Girls for 13 years. She spent her last years working and retired from Comaco Senior Citizen Development Corp as a Senior Citizen Out Reach Worker. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Frances Austin and a brother James "Jimmy" Austin Jr. She leaves to mourn her passing but gives thanks for her homecoming, her son, Ronald Starks of Hunting Beach, Calif.; daughter, Penny Starks of Montclair, N.J.; 4 grandchildren, Tonya Cross, Dawn Starks, Tiffany Starks and Chase Starks. Also left to mourn Greta is her nephew, James Austin III; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Alfreda Bonner. Service will be held at McNABB FUNERAL HOME, Eastside Chapel, 3425 Refugee Rd., Columbus, Oh., Friday at 10:30 a.m. Interment Evergreen cemetery.

TABSCOTT Charles A. Tabscott Sr., age 63, Sunday, July 28, 2002 at Lutheran Village. Member of Bethany Christian Church. Retired employee of The Ohio State University. Preceded in death by wife Marsha Tabscott, father O.T. Tabscott. Survived by mother, Beatress Smith; daughters, Vanessa (Julian) Simmons, Anitia Tabscott and DeJarnay Tabscott; son, Charles A. Tabscott Jr.; step-daughters, Letitia Vaughn, Keisha Vaughn, Monique Davis and Toletha (Christopher) Turner; 5 grandchildren; aunts, Edith Tabscott, Yvonne Tabscott, and Lula Draper; cousin, Andrew J. Christian; special friend, Martha Barnes; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service 4 p.m. Friday August 2, 2002 at Eastside Chapel, 3425 Refugee Rd. WALKER Charles Wilson Walker, Jr., age 62, son of Charles and the late Elaine Matthews Walker of Columbus, Oh., died Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at the OSU Hospital. He was a current resident of Guysville, Oh., where he was employed by TASC of Athens, Ohio. He was previously employed by Health Recovery Services in Athens and by the Department of Youth Services in Columbus, Oh. He was President of the Board of Lottridge Community Center and served on the board of United Senior Citizens of Athens County. He was an active supporter of the Democratic Party and was a member of the Central Committee in Athens County. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Sandi Clark; granddaughter, Tameisha; father and step-mother, Charles and Naomi Walker; mother-in-law, Neoma; sisters and brother, Lesley Joseph, Debra (Ben) McNeal, Maurice Walker and Jeannine Walker; nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews; cousins; friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his mother and his sister Diane. A private Memorial Service will be held at Faith Ministries Church, Agler Rd. on Thursday, August 1, 2002, officiated by Dr. C. Dexter Wise. Charles' life was enriched through the contribution from his son, Craig, of a kidney transplant five years ago. WEAVER REPAS Judith Repas was found in her home at 2701 Ione Ct. at approximately 4 p.m. Monday. She is survievd by her mother; 2 sisters; daughter; and extended family and friends. A memorial will be held at her home on Friday, August 2 from approximately 5-8:30 p.m. All are welcomed.

WIGFIELD Esther "Peg" G. Wigfield, age 85, of Zanesville, formerly of Marysville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at her home. WILLIAMS Norine S. Williams, age 84, of Columbus, Oh., passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Echo Manor Care Center. Born to Clarence and Gertrude Saylor in Clarksburg, W.V. She was a member of Church of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church and had attended West Virginia University. Preceded in death by her husband Armin P. "Oscar" Williams. Survived by sons, Kevin (Mary) Williams of Reno, Nev. and Marc (Deborah) Williams of Pickerington; grandchildren, Chad Wallace, Matthew, Keri, Adam and Taylor Williams; great-grandchildren, Payton and Corey Wallace. ZIMMER Pearl Zimmer, age 88, of Grove City, passed away into the arms of our Lord Tuesday, July 30, 2002. Graduate of Hilliard High School and attended The Ohio State University. He was a retired Dairy Farmer and also retired from Franklin County Land and Building. Member of St. John Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Preceded in death by first wife C. Anna (Schmandt) Zimmer, parents George and Anna Zimmer, brother LeRoy and sister Gladys Zimmer. Survived by wife of 61 years, Ruth; children, James (Lynne) Zimmer, Galloway, George (Tricia) Zimmer, Grove City, Kathryn Zimmer (Larry) Sheets, Mogadore, Mary Zimmer Reinoehl and William Ratcliffe, Philadelphia, Pa.; foster children, Harley Halderman, Ca., and Cora Bigler, Columbus; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; several nephews and friends. ADAMS Keith Adams, 85, died Friday, August 2, 2002 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He co-owned and operated Adams Plumbing. A graduate of North High School, class of 1935. A graduate of Franklin University. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. BAKER Pearl Baker, age 90, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2002 at the residence. Preceded in death by husband Charles; first husband John P. Delong; daughters, Waueka Delong, Vonda Sue Maynard; and two grandchildren. BALO Michelle A. Balo, age 46, of Columbus, passed away Friday, August 2, 2002. Mrs. Balo is survived by her loving husband, Robert Balo; son, Ron Balo; grandson, Rondale Balo; sister, Saundra Pennell; brother-in-law, Robert Pennell, both of West Jefferson; mother, Ann; brother, Mike Miller, both of Bradenton, Fla.; nephew, aunt, uncles, numerous cousins and friends. BENSON Jonathan Michael Benson, age 23, of Dublin, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 3, 2002 at Doctor's Hospital West. He was currently a student at The Ohio State University, where he majored in Economics, as well as working in the Meat Department at Kroger's in Dublin. Jon had diverse interests that included cooking and blues music and was an avid soccer and lacrosse player. He loved animals, especially his beloved dog, Mick. Most of all Jon enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his parents, Craig and Joan Benson; sister, Christiane Benson; niece, Kaitlin Benson; grandparents, Eddie (Mary) Seward and Albert (Elsa) Benson; aunt, Christine Benson; uncle, Wayne (Carol) Seward; cousin, Edward Seward. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road.
