DAWSON Robert D. Dawson Sr., 74, Altamonte Springs, FL, died Sunday August 4th, 2002 at home. Formerly of Columbus, OH, he was preceded in death by parents Marvin and Ruth, brother Marvin, sister Patsy, and former wife Rita (Wolfe) Dawson. He is survived by children, Bob (Nancy) Dawson, Mary Dawson, Paul (Kathy) Dawson, Mark (Susie) Dawson, Annie (George) Gease, Patty Keel, Bill (Jodi) Dawson, John (Sally) Dawson, Ruth (Jim) Yellowhawk and Margie (Gary) Orahood; sisters, Sister JoAnn Dawson of Wheeling, WV, Marvine Waite of Key West, FL, Laura Grube of Springfield, OH and Pauline (Ed) Merklin of New Albany, OH; and 27 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by former wives Jan Dawson and Cari Dawson and son Vance Dawson. Bob, a graduate of Holy Family High School, and an avid OSU fan, was a Navy veteran, a former Vice-President of Columbus Heating and Ventilating Co. and retired as the Executive Director from the Associated General Contractor's of Central Florida, served as a Past-President of The Builders Exchange of Central Ohio, Chairman of The Construction Industry Council in Florida and a long time member of Alcoholics Anonymous as well as a consultant, participant and member of many various community and construction industry related associations in Ohio and Florida. The family would like to express our sincere appreciation, love and gratitude to the "Dream Team" of nurses, friends and extended family in Alcoholics Anonymous for their love and support and who were with Bob in his final days. His wish to be cremated will be honored in Florida. Family will receive friends at JERRY SPEARS FUNERAL HOME, 2693 West Broad St., on Sunday, August 11th from 12noon-2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to AA or to the charity of your choice.

DERR Wm. Keith Derr, age 51, of Indian Lake, Oh. and formerly of Columbus, Oh., died Thursday, August 8, 2002 at 3:10 a.m. in The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Oh. He was born March 12, 1951 in Urbana, Oh., the son of William J. and Elizabeth (Picklesimer) Derr. He was a 1969 graduate of Urbana High School and attended Wittenberg University after serving with the U.S. Army Quarter Master Corp., 1971-74, including an 11 month tour of duty in Vietnam, 1971-72. He had lived in Columbus 22 years where he was President of Ziad, Inc. He loved golfing, bowling and boating. Keith is survived by Sandra Derr (Pachecco) of Columbus; son, Chad H. Derr of Columbus; mother, Elizabeth "Libby" Derr; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Julie Derr; nieces, Michele and Katelynn Derr, all of Urbana; and other aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous loyal friends and classmates. Preceded in death by his father William James Derr, April 28, 2001. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 11, 2002 from 3-6 p.m. in the WALTER-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 642 S. Main St., Urbana, Oh., where a funeral service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2002 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Daniel Leiker of the River of Life Church, officiating. Burial in Kingscreek cemetery. DERRER Richard Derrer, age 25, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2002 at the residence. Member St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Veteran U.S. Army. Survived by wife, Amy; son, Chase; parents, Bill (Pimpa) Derrer; brothers, Charles (Charlotte) Derrer, David (Courtney) Derrer; numerous aunts, uncles and many friends. DOSS James B. Doss Jr., age 76, of Washington C.H., formerly of Carroll, Friday, August 9, 2002 at his residence. Born October 15, 1925 in Milburn, W.Va. to the late James B. and Virginia (Baldwin) Doss. Retired from the Diamond Power Co. in Lancaster and was a WW II U.S. Army Veteran. Member of New Life Chapel Leesburg Church of God. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; children, Dinah (John) Hill, South Bloomingville, Linda Doss, Lancaster, Michael (Rena) Doss, Kansas City, Kan., Jeanie Doss, Sugar Grove, Tim Doss, Carroll; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother. Friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. FISCHER Joann Fais Fischer, 64, August 7, 2002 at Villa Angela Care Center. Graduate of Grandview Heights High School, 1956, and attended O.S.U., majoring in dietetics and human development. Founder of Accessible Arts, Board member of the American Council of the Blind - Columbus Chapter, past Board member for the American Council of the Blind of Ohio. Member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, the Tri-Village Lions Club and the Tri-Village Lions Auxiliary. Recipient of the 50 year Survivor Medallion from Eli Lilly for insulin-dependent diabetics, the Ambassador's Award from the American Council of the Blind of Ohio and the Medick Award from the Vision Center of Central Ohio. Preceded in death by father Hon. Judge Gervais W. "Pete" Fais. Survived by husband, Elmer E. Fischer; daughters, Sharon (Rich) Pontius and Susan (Marty) Moore; mother, Ruth Fais; brothers, Hon. Judge David W. (Sandy) Fais, Hon. Judge James J. (Connie) Fais and Robert G. GARRISON George H. Garrison, M.D., age 80, of Oakwood, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2002. He was a graduate of East High School in Columbus. Dr. Garrison received his B.S. from Otterbein College in 1943 and his M.D. from Case Western Reserve (formerly Western Reserve). He served in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Medical Corps during WW II. Having practiced in Dayton for over 50 years, he received his 50 year award from the Medical Society. Dr. Garrison also served as the Chief of Staff of Surgery at Kettering Medical Center and was on the Board of Trustees of Miami Valley Hospital. He was a member of the American Urological Assn., Virginia Hollinger Memorial Tennis Club, Dayton Gem and Mineral Society and a long time member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Preceded in death by 2 sisters Marylee and Dorothy and 1 brother Warren. Survived his wife of 56 years, Gwen Blum Garrison; 2 sons, David and his wife, Mary Jane Garrison and their daughter, Margaret of Keswick, Va., Tom and his wife, Sandi Jones Garrison and their children, Forrest and Lindsey of Charlottesville, Va.; daughter, Nancy and her husband, Robert Howley and their children, Andrew and Amy of Dublin, Oh. Committal of cremains will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dayton Memorial Park cemetery. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 33 W. Dixon Ave., Oakwood, with Rev. HARTRANFT Margie A. Schaal Hartranft, age 88, of Orient, died Friday, August 9, 2002 at Mill Run Care Center in Hilliard. She was born June 3, 1914 in Saltcreek Township, daughter of the late James Reuben and Grace (Hedges) Schaal. She was retired as a purchasing agent for Chillicothe Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Samuel Hartranft in 1956, sisters Agnes Schaal and Ozilla Skinner and brother Emmanuel Schaal. Survivors include her daughters, Judith (Bill) Hartranft-Heaton of Wexford, PA and Janet (Ron) Barienbrock of Orient; grandchildren, Andrew (Amy) Barienbrock, Sara (Ray Hildenbrand) Heaton and Bill Heaton Jr.; great-grandchildren, Elijah Hildenbrand and Cassidy Barienbrock; 1 sister, Charlotta Becker of Dublin; 7 nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2002 at Tarlton cemetery. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the DEFENBAUGH-WISE-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 151 E. HARTWIG Larry Hartwig, age 52, died peacefully at home in Washington, D.C., surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, August 5, 2002. Predeceased by mother Edith. Survived by parents, Harry and Betty Hartwig; sisters, Judy (David) Summers, Vicki (Chuck) Ream, Patty (Dave) Vogeley; brothers, Bill (Gina) Pressler, Steve (Teresa) Pressler; nieces, Jane (David) Norris, Debbie and Christie Ream, Ashley and Alison Pressler; nephews, David Summers and Kevin Ream; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends. Larry was born in Columbus, Oh. and was a graduate of Brookhaven High School and The Ohio State University, where he was a member of OSU Marching Band. Employed by the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C. He traveled all over the world spreading his infectious laughter and love for all people. That love led Larry to be a devoted member of the United Ostomy Association and co-chairman of it's GLO Concerns Committee in which he was deeply committed right up until his death. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2002 at Karl Road Baptist Church, 5750 Karl Rd., Columbus, Oh. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the United Ostomy Association, 19772 MacArthur Blvd., Suite 200, Irvine, Calif. 92612. The family understands that you may be unable to attend, and request that you have a celebration of life amongst friends.

NORTHRUP Margine Rowena Northrup, 87, passed away Saturday, August 3, in Los Angeles, Calif. She was born in Washington Court House, Oh., February 9, 1915 to John and Christena Weyer, the youngest of nine children, and resided in north Columbus for 60 years. Following graduation from Ostrander High School in 1934, she entered Capital Beauty School, becoming a beautician and teacher. Preceded in death by her husband Therwyn Northrup. She is survived by their daughter and son-in-law, Chris Kay and Bernard Roswig of Culver City, Calif.; many nieces and nephews. REYNOLDS Lynden E. "Gene" Reynolds, 82, of Pataskala, died at his home on Thursday, August 8, 2002. Gene was born in St. Marys, W.Va. on June 10, 1920. He had retired from North American Rockwell after 34 years of service and was a member of the Pataskala United Methodist Church. She had been a homemaker for most of her life. Survived by her 4 children, William Sayre of Newark, Jane (Gilbert) Fortney of St. Louisville, Joyce (Fred) Parrill of Newark and Nancy Harris of Pataskala; 4 grandchildren, Denise (Jim) Patterson of Mt. Gilead, Lorri (Scott) Fowler of Newark, Mark Parrill of Newark and Erin Harris of Pataskala; great-grandchild, William Sayre Patterson; brother, Walter Sheley of Tucson, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Mary Sheley of Columbus.
