William E. Shatzer

Former Montpelier Mayor William E. Shatzer, 81, died this morning at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. Mr. Shatzer served as mayor of Montpelier from 1990 to 1999, and was the widower of Juanita G. (Rainesburger-Schultz) Shatzer. Funeral arrangements are pending at Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier.

Marietta V. Robison

MONTPELIER - Marietta V. Robison, 84, of Pioneer, died Wednesday afternoon, July 30, 2003, at Hillside Country Living.
She was the widow of Hubert Dale Robison who preceded her in death in March of 1981.
Service arrangements are pending at the Thompson Funeral Home-Montpelier.

Sharon L. Lee

MONTPELIER - Sharon L. Lee, of Montpelier and formerly of Beadle Lake, Battle Creek, Mich., died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at her home.
Born at Alagansee Twp., Branch County, Mich., to Edna M. (Hardy) and Hubert W. Shilling, she married Roger J. Lee on Oct. 17, 1998, at rural Montpelier, and he survives.
A graduate of Quincy High School, she attended  Jackson Community College and graduated from Kellogg Community College with an A.D.N.
A registered nurse, she had worked at the Dilworth Center of Community Hospitals of Williams County. She had formerly worked at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier and also Tender Care Nursing Home at Marshall, Mich. She had also worked for 18 years at Battle Creek Health Systems in Battle Creek, Mich.
She attended the West Bethesda Presbyterian Church, rural Montpelier.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her mother, Edna Shilling of Reading, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Candy E. (Evans) Hook of Portage, Mich. and Corey A. Lee of Bryan; two stepsons, Fred (and wife, Danielle) Evans of Battlecreek, Mich., and David M. Evans of Battlecreek; eight grandchildren; four brothers, Harold Shillings of Coldwater, Mich., and John Shilling and Paul Shilling of Quincy, Mich., and Phillip Shilling of Muskegon, Mich.; and two sisters, Rosealeta Atkins and Donna Alleshause, both of Coldwater, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her father; a brother, Charles; and a sister, Hazel Paul.
Visitation will be held Monday from 2-8 p.m. in the Thompson Funeral Home, Montpelier. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the West Bethesda Presbyterian Church, rural Montpelier, with the Rev. Tawee Layraman to officiate. Interment will be in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan.
Memorials may be made to the Dilworth Center or Hospice at Community Hospitals of Williams County.

Tracy L. Boettger
(1960 - 2003)

ARCHBOLD - Tracy L. Boettger, 42, of Archbold, died suddenly Tuesday, July 29, 2003.
Born Oct. 7, 1960, at Toledo, to Jean (Biltz) and Dale Larrison, she married Mark Boettger on Nov. 27, 1980, and he survives.
A resident of the Archbold area since 1990, she had worked as a nurses' aide at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold and then became the assistant manager at Wal-Mart in Wauseon. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Austin Boettger of Bowling Green, Landon (Carie Babcock) Boettger of Stryker and Tyler Boettger of Archbold; a granddaughter, Kayla; her parents, Dale and Jean Larrison of Sebring, Fla.; a brother, Brook (and wife, Sandy) Larrison of Wachula, Fla.; and a sister, Mrs. David (Shawn) McCutcheon of Toledo.
Preceding her in death was an infant granddaughter, Alexis Boettger.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6-9 p.m. in the Short Funeral Home in Archbold.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Brook Larrison to officiate.

Mary A. "Tom" Oyer
(1929 - 2003)

PIONEER - Mary A. "Tom" Oyer, 74, of rural Pioneer, died early Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Park View Nursing Center, Edgerton, following a lengthy illness.
Born March 26, 1929, near Montpelier, to Matilda Ann (Oyer) and Arthur Calvin Oyer Sr., she had been a lifelong Montpelier and Pioneer area resident.
A graduate of Montpelier High School, she had retired as a machine operator with the former Mohawk Tools, Inc., of Montpelier where she had been employed for 24 years. She had attended the Kunkle United Brethren Church.
Surviving are a brother, Robert (and wife, Doris) Oyer of Pioneer; a sister, Kathryne Nisbet of Decatur, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were two sisters, Alverda Good and Luella Slagle, and four brothers, Arthur Jr., Ralph, Dale and Paul Oyer.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Timm Oyer to officiate. Burial will be in Floral Grove Cemetery, Pioneer.
Memorials may be made to the Williams County Kidney Foundation.

LaVerne V. Kuhn
(1911 - 2003)

MONTPELIER - LaVerne V. Kuhn, 92, of Montpelier, died late Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Montpelier, following a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 16, 1911, at Montpelier, to Ethel (Weber) and Perry Hefty, she was a lifelong Montpelier resident.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Joan Kuhn of Montpelier; a granddaughter, Mrs. Tracy (Sarah) Brandon of Montpelier; three great-grandchildren, Lea, Dustin and Edward Brandon; and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Ashley Brandon.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jeanne May Kuhn, and a brother, Waldo Hefty.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home, Montpelier.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Don Harris to officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier.
Memorials may be made to the Montpelier See-and-Do Club.

Bessie Turner

Bessie Vee "Bec" Lewis Turner, 79, passed away April 29, 2003, in California.
Born in Bryan, she graduated from Bryan High School with the class of 1942 then joined the Waves. She later married Joe Turner, and had lived in California since then.
She is survived by two daughters, Melissa and Stephanie, and several grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Addie and Karl Lewis; a brother, Jim; and sisters Virginia and Betty.
